Omgbrodie is an upcoming Artist from San Diego, California. Learning how to read as a teenager, Brodie had to develop his own unique communication style, becoming an unlikely lyricist that can develop rhymes to themes meant to speak to those that have lived, or are still living with, the same struggles he has successfully overcome. It was through these unique beats and lyrics, layered over emotive dialogue that helped Brodie develop his own blend of Emo Pop. His debut album, 2019's "The Aftermath of it All", is a collection of his signature sounds, completely self produced using only his iPhone. The album served as the ultimate therapy for Omgbrodie, as he could narrate the story of his struggles, and turn this catharsis into a way to connect with fans and help them heal as well. Mitch Kekel is a former DIII Football Player for Linfield College. Mitch is a long-time friend, we grew up competing against each other in sports. He is one of the most positive, hard working people I've ever met.In this episode we talk about the following (Tune in for Part II coming soon!):Story behind the Portland French SchoolFluent in French by the 5th gradeHad already traveled to Europe 3 times by the time I was 14.My love for sports began when i attended my first Oregon State football Game when i was 5. By 8, I knew I wanted to be a college football player. Grew up playing sports my whole life. I played Football, Basketball and Baseball all the way up until High school where I focused on Football and Basketball.Played youth football against each other. I grew up where if I played sports, trained for these sports and did well in school I did not have to get a job. I was extremely fortunate that my parents could afford to pay for outside training velocity, the yard, new athlete, gym memberships, Barton Camps, combines etc. In high school this is what i focused on football, basketball, training, school. Junior Year of high school. I tore my ACL. Humbling experience/taught be about adversity, made me appreciate life, sports, and basic functions like going to the bathroom. Worked my ass off to get back onto the field. 9 months later i was playing in my first game. Linfield Bound!College College Football at LinfieldFreshman Year I thought I was the man. Physically I could play. But the mental part of the game is where i really struggled. I had no football IQ.When I found out i did not make the travel roster I was so devastated I threw up. I was dedicated to learning the defense. But it a very slow process and i never really made significant strides. Playoffs I did not make the travel roster. Sophomore year. Realized i wasn’t working hard enough. I was not invested enough to become successful. Mindset change. Work ethic change. Changed who i surrounded myself with. Poured everything i had into it. Results came. Relentless enthusiasm, passion and Energy. That is what separated me from the rest of people. Senior Year. studied abroad in the french caribbean. Graduated with a political science degree and french minor. Plan was law school. Not ready for that financial commitment or time commitment. France!I wasn’t ready for the fun to stop and wanted to take this opportunity to use my language skills and travel. Got a teaching job as an english teacher in the South of France in the city of Marseille. Parents bought me a one way ticket to france and the journey began. Taught 4 days/week. Every 6 weeks I traveled to 3 different cities or countries i’d never been to. Fell in love with teaching and working with kids. Parents came down for 3 weeks in the summer.Next Steps2020 altered all of our lives… We had to adjust and make some lifestyle changes / adapt to the “new norm”How have you adapted, what new habits have you created for yourself that have helped you moving forward? What are you looking to accomplish in 2021? Play Episode Listen Later Aug 26, 2020 19:25

You have 24 hours in a day. And on average, you’ll probably sleep anywhere from 7-9 hours, 10 probably on weekends. 60 minutes in an hour, so if you remove the amount of time you spend sleeping, on avg im gonna say that probably is going to equate to about 1,000 minutes left (easy to remember) to make something happen every day. You have 1,000 minutes, and you get to choose how you spend those minutes each day.Audit yourself every daySome things that I find value in are making appointments on my calendar for work that I need to get done. If I have a contract to write or a meeting I need to prep for i put that on the calendar so it gets done and I dont get double booked. Fill your calendar with things you need to do and make people work around your schedule. If you value your time so will others. By doing this if you get something done early you can either start the next task ahead of time or take a littl3 break, scroll through IG and mot feel bad about it.Multi-task when you canI do these strategically, but during the day I can get away with multi-tasking and still be effective. IE I am constantly learning… When I run in the morning, instead of just listening to music, which occasionally I do because it helps me relax mentally or motivate me temporarily, but most of the time I am listening to Audiobooks, learning new concepts, new perspectives, and continuously challenging my knowledge. Meal Prep your lunchesSaves you moneyAdds discipline to your diet, creating minimal room for cheating or becoming lazy with your diet. Don’t waste time driving to grab food or choose a poor meal optionMeal prep on sundays for an hour saves you timeIn addition to what cooper said other things thay you can do are clean while you cook, pick things up as you go.If you are in a meeting where you don't have to be 100% involved answer emails.I've told contractors thay im very busy and don't have time to attend all of their meetings. We comprised and when they need me they address my name to get my attention, I answer the question or provide feedback and them go back to doing whatever else I needed to do.You can wake up earlierI don’t wanna hear it, matter of fact, if you are OK with living a mediocre life, then go ahead and enjoy your beauty sleep. That’s OK with me, and that’s OK with all the rest of us working our ASS OFF waking up at 530-6am everyday working towards someday making our dreams our reality because look… I don’t know a single successful person that started with nothing and created something that didn’t wake up early PISSED OFF or FIRED UP to make/create something epic. Not a single one. They sacrifice sleep, maybe not every single day, but they go through the week with 5-7 hours of sleep and are accomplishing WAY MORE than someone that sleeps 8-9 hours a day. I can promise you that. When I need to get something done the first thing that goes is sleep. Your goals are worth your time. I don't want to miss out on life to sleep. It is important but making memories and hitting goals is more important to me.If you take anything from this, remember this:YOU are the CEO of your own bank of time and YOU get to decide where that time gets spent. Time is a commodity that you don’t get back. It is not like money you can’t make more of it. Make each minute count,We’re out. MAKE TODAY COUNT.

Therefore I will concentrate my thoughts for 30 minutes daily upon the task of thinking of the person I intend to become, thereby creating in my mind a clear mental picture of that person.I know through the principle of autosuggestion that any desire I persistently hold in my mind will eventually seek expression through some practical means of attaining the object. Therefore I will devote 10 minutes daily demanding of myself the development of self-confidence.I have clearly written down a description of my Definite Chief Aim in life. I will never stop trying until I have developed sufficient self-confidence for its attainment.I fully realize that no wealth or position can long endure unless built upon truth and justice. Therefore I will engage in no transaction that does not benefit all whom it affects. I will succeed by attracting to myself the forces I wish to use, and the cooperation of other people. I will induce others to serve me because of my willingness to serve others. I will eliminate hatred, envy, jealousy, selfishness and cynicism by developing love for all humanity because I know that a negative attitude towards others can never bring me success. I will cause others to believe in me, because I will believe in them, and in myself. I will sign my name to this formula, commit it to memory and repeat it aloud once a day, with full faith that it will gradually influence my thoughts and actions so that I will become a self-reliant and successful person." - Napoleon HillMake Today Count.Love you all, keep working.- Cooper

I’ll start this episode off with some real shit because I know someone needs to hear this… You can’t help others until you help yourself. I don’t know what you’re going through right now, maybe lost your job during this covid pandemic, maybe baby girl doesn’t think you’re cute anymore or you just got dumped… Let’s just forget about all of that right now and let’s hone in on where you are heading or where you need to go moving forward…Kirsten I’m not sure if you do this, but I ask myself these questions as soon as I wake up. They are set in my phone as reminders, so here goes:What matters most in my life? What do I want most in life?Am I holding on to something I need to let go of?During these unfortunate events, jobs are being lost. But at the very same time, new ones are arising that we’ve never seen before. Flip life opportunities are of the abundance, Im talkin’ shoe flipping, sports cards, anything around the house, clothes, craiglists is poppin off. Very easy to go on there right now and buy something dirt cheap and resell on another platform like Ebay or Stock X.But that’s not why we’re on here today, Kirsten you start us off… What do you wanna discuss?Kirsten:My dudes lets be real, we become who we surround ourselves with. More specifically we take on the characteristics of the 5 people we spend the most time with. Do you ever notice you picking up different slang or verbage from your friends, co-workers, or SO. Thats because we naturally take on parts of those we hang out with. The good/bad thing is you will either grow as a person or you are going to stay stagnant and or find yourself in places you don’t want to be in. With all of that being said if you want to grow find one of these types and incorporate them in your life. You may even find people who have more than one of these characteristics. So here is what you want to look for in the people you spend the most time with. The Dreamer- the person always coming up with great ideas, things that you haven’t thought of, or someone who allows you to see something from a different perspectiveThe Driver- This is your worker bee. The person with the plan and is going to get shit doneThe motivator-This is your “cheerleader”, the person reminding you of your purposeThe Supporter- This person is your ride or die. They will never leave your sideThe devils advocate- this is the no nonsense person. They are blunt and going to tell it like it is. Im not telling you to get rid of all of your friends if they dont emulate one of these characters, but realize you may be stagnant in life because the people you spend time with aren’t challenging you to be the best version of yourself. You should never feel bad if you are on a path of growth and your friends don’t understand or cut you down for it. They are on a different path and don’t see your vision, you don’t have to say goodbye, but it may be a see you around. There is a good saying that goes, if you are the smartest person in the room you need to find a new room. The next thing to look at is are you being one of these things for someone else. You should want those around you to do better. Take the initiative and be one of the people that they need in their lives. Cooper:YOUR NETWORK IS YOUR NET WORTH. Make Today Count.- Cooper

#33 Setting Up a Morning Routine For Success

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 1, 2020 13:01

Two reasons I start my morning with a workoutAverage person usually gets up around 7am. By 7, my hardest part of my day is already over, I get it done before 7:00am. Guess how that makes me feel? Like a bad ass, and NOW, I am ready to tackle my day, I’m in my peak mindset and ready to put out any fires I have to deal with during the day. It’s really important to start your day with a body/mind connection, I know that sounds like a load of garbage or sounds super cliche (it actually makes me want to throw up a little bit to say it haha) but it’s super fucking true. Had I not worked out, I don’t feel like I’m on my A-Game and feel like I’m reacting to things, reacting to notifications on my phone, not allowing myself to get into my peak state or ideal mindset for the day. After my workout I think faster, think quicker, more productive for my day.The workout gets me “in the zone”“Controlled chaos” Working out in the morning is the hardest part of my day. And after finishing the hardest part of my day, everything I have to do from now on throughout the day will not be a 45 minute 5 superset circuit… I dont have to do that again today, all day… which is good, great feeling.Kirstens thoughts:Your morning routine is in my opinion what makes or breaks the rest of your day. When you have consistency and stability in your life it leads to a more relaxed productive day.We only have 24 hours in the day and most people work 8 to 12 hour days. Those hours are for someone else unless you work for yourself but even then you're still working for your wallet. You should take 30 minutes to an hour in your morning routine to do something for yourself before everyone else is asking for your time. I personally like to make my coffee and get my food together for the day while listening to music. Here soon I'll be waking up around 3 hours before work to add in a little workout.I have never had more clear of focused days at work than when I was waking up at 430 am to go to the gym and do 30 to 45 minutes of cardio. While I did that I even read a book to max out the efficiency of my time. I left the gym happy, in a positive mindset and ready to attack the day. Many of us drink coffee first thing in the morning. Try switching to drinking a glass of water while your coffee brews. Give your body something that will hydrate it after sleeping not something full of caffeine. Not saying don't drink our coffee, I'm not a psychopath, I'm just saying drink some water while your making it.Statistics show that most successful people wake up at least 2 hours before work and most of very successful do something active to help focus their mind.So guys im not saying you have to do what I do but try getting up just a little earlier to do something that is important for you before you go make money for the man and if you have time try doing something active. Even if its just a walk around the block. I promise your days will become so much better and you will enjoy getting out of bed and wanting to start your morning routine Friends, thank you for tuning in! Make Today Count.

What’s a great idea that you’ve had that you never implemented? What did you “create” only to see someone else beat you to it?Winklevoss Twins, sound familiar? Remember when they claimed that “Facebook” was their idea, not Zucks’? Well, in 2004 the Winklevoss twins sued Mark Zuckerberg… The reality is, Mark EXECUTED the idea of starting an online community! They might have first “came up with the idea to make a social platform, but who cares? I’m sure you probably know TONS of “IDEA MAKERS” or have a friend that comes up with these amazing ideas, but doesn’t do anything with it or just talks a BIG GAME. I’ve been around plenty of them and it pisses me off.And these idea makers have a lot to say, and these ideas are probably really good ideas, but going back to my initial statement of “great ideas are worthless” it simply doesn’t mean DICK unless you actually take ACTION on your ideas.I’ll give you another example. My PodcastKirsten’s thoughts:-Is today day 1 or are you saying 1 day-How do you go about an execution plan-Do you need a partner to make things happen (i.e. are you the dreamer and you need someone who can execute)-Who is in your circle? (are they helping you in your execution of your goals or tearing you down)-Are you reaching out and seeking mentorship or are you trying to recreate the wheel?-Find something you love and JUST STARTFind things that motivate you to start what you are doing and then something to keep you going. Starting is the hardest part. Building healthy habits and make those part of your routine. Don’t let yourself fall out of the routine. If you do get back on the bike as soon as you can. Share the plan with those who support you and stay quite with those who will tear you down.Last thing I want to say and then I’m done talkin’ but I AM FIRED UP ABOUT THIS BECAUSE I KNOW THIS TO BE TRUE.I wish for everybody that you could find something that interests you enough that you’d be willing to go down the path of gaining mastery and developing a passion so that you can engage so fully with the thing that as you get into this virtuous cycleBUILDING A PASSION IS LIKE FALLING IN LOVE It is reciprocal. it is two way. If it’s just one way, it’s not real love. If it’s just YOU going down the path of gaining mastery and there’s no reciprocal, feeling positive about yourself and being able to help other people... if you’re not getting feedback, you’re never going to be able to develop a REAL passion. And what it looks like is this, as you find that thing that interests you, you go down the path of gaining mastery, during this time you’re getting better at something that actually helps other people, so you start feeling good about yourself, and then you take that energy and you get even better at it.This allows you to serve other people more, which makes you feel even better about yourself, which makes you wanna go out and get more skills (adding fuel to your motherfucking fire!) and you get in this feedback loop, and the more skills you get, the more powerful you are.The more you’re able to help other people and the better it makes you feel about yourself. Which makes you hungry to get MORE SKILLS. And NOW you get in this loop… The power of Compounding is a beautiful thing...Mic Drop, Make Today Count.
