Today we wrap up my conversation with Deborah Driggs, insurance agent, mother, former model and actress, and Playboy's centerfold in March 1990.We discuss the role that fear plays when communicating in difficult situations. Deborah also shares how she learned not to take no for an answer as a senior in high school when she convinced her high school government teacher to let her pass a class she had never attended by staying up all night to write a paper summarizing the class's entire textbook. She used that experience to develop her “No means maybe” philosophy that has helped drive her success as an actress, model, investor, and insurance agent. Enjoy! As always, thank you to Jim Cirillo of jimiumgroup.com for our original music and my daughter Rachel Greenberger for our original podcast art. Please send questions to wtswtgt@gmail.com and follow us on Twitter at #wtswtgt.

Deborah Driggs career was skyrocketing and she was featured in Playboy, she was in movies and television. All that success was masking her addiction to alcohol, addiction to fame, and trouble with relationships, which hid the trauma and neglect she experienced as a child. Growing up with a father that was addicted to alcohol and a mother that showed her little affection. She started drinking at a young age it wasn't until she hit rock bottom later in life when she lost her money, her children were living with their father, and was in and out of institutions that she knew she needed help. She now helps others suffering from addiction to seek the help they need. No one should feel ashamed about asking for help. Her story reminds us that we must deal with our pain and trauma in order to lead truly happy and healthy lives.

Deborah Driggs is known for her acting, dancing, and modelling, she is also a top-rated insurance professional and was even a playboy centerfold! Deborah now focuses her time and passion on helping women break through negative self-talk, take on challenges and build themselves the lives they deserve. Deborah joins Dawn to talk all about her mission, the journey that got her to where she is today including her success in the acting world as well as her struggles with addiction. KEY TAKEAWAYS Deborah and Dawn both worked as flight attendants for Airlines in the 1980s. They both learnt how to deal with frightening emergencies and how to remain calm under immense pressure. Following some work modelling in Japan, Deborah decided that on her return to the U.S. she wanted to work in commercials, and this is exactly what she did. She recognized this as a pivotal moment in her life. After having a successful career in commercials, print and some bit parts, Deborah was given an opportunity to have a lead role, but she needed to take some acting classes to be hired. Deborah met her husband and got married in 92', she had her first child in 93' and her final acting role was in 98'. She was in a new era of her life. Deborah struggled with alcoholism most of her life, she now recognizes that this was part of the generational trauma that she was carrying. After the breakdown of her marriage, Deborah fell deeper into her addiction and even contemplated suicide. She entered rehab and managed to stay sober for a while but after getting a new job she convinced herself that she wasn't an alcoholic and she began drinking again. To most, things looked great for Deborah. But she was miserable, she was just good at putting on a mask. If you aren't living your authentic self, then regardless of money or status you have nothing. Deborah discovered she needed to tackle her issues and trauma head on, it was only this that allowed her to heal, from her trauma, suffering and addiction. She now helps others do the same. BEST MOMENTS “If there's a struggle there's a problem and in that problem, there is a beautiful solution” “That was probably the most pivotal moment of my life, I knew I was on the right track” “Everything that people said I wouldn't be able to do, I just found a way to do it”“I do have a bit of success anxiety” “Everything looked good on the outside” “I believe that generational trauma exists” "I had to experience a lot of different healing journeys" CONTACT METHODhttps://www.instagram.com/theawakeningwithdawndawn@theawakeningwithdawn.com ABOUT THE HOST Dawn Rishárd, M.A. with 20 years as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Marriage and Family Systems, I empower people to release the past, open their hearts, and receive the love they desire. How to Split a Toaster: A divorce podcast about saving your relationships
Meet Deborah DriggsToday we're talking with Deborah Driggs. Her experience with divorce, trauma and recovery has fueled her across the career landscape — from model to actor to sales to motivational speaker. She joins Seth and Pete in the Toaster to share the story of divorces in her own life – first her parents' and later her own – and to explore how she learned the power of taking risks, staying positive, and offering help to those who need it. Her divorce sent her down some dark rabbit holes and it's taken a long time to get out. But she has. Deborah talks about getting out of rejection and moving forward. She made the decision to not take ‘no' for an answer, and that largely means from herself. That mental focus has put her in a place where she's able to help others work through their own negativity and heal. It's a powerful story of peaks and valleys but always leading toward peace and healing.Links & NotesDeborah's websiteDeborah on LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and FacebookSchedule a consult with SethGot a question you want to ask on the show? Deborah Driggs appeared to have it all. She was on the cover of Playboy 3 times, Oprah invited her on the show, and she was in movies and on television. However, in her words, "I was miserable. I was using attention, relationships, and addiction to cover the wounds of my past. The harder and faster I ran from that pain–the more I ignored it, the better I felt. Or so I thought. I ended up broke and divorced with three young children." Deborah learned that it wasn't what was on the outside that satisfied, but rather facing what was on the inside. How to Split a Toaster: A divorce podcast about saving your relationships
Deborah DriggsToday we're talking with Deborah Driggs. Her experience with divorce, trauma and recovery has fueled her across the career landscape — from model to actor to sales to motivational speaker. She joins Seth and Pete in the Toaster to share the story of divorces in her own life – first her parents' and later her own – and to explore how she learned the power of taking risks, staying positive, and offering help to those who need it.Her divorce sent her down some dark rabbit holes and it's taken a long time to get out. And while it may seem like Deborah's success came easy to her, nothing could be further from the truth. Rather, she's overcome a number of challenges in her life to get to where she is today but what is true, and a part of her character, is her willingness to take risks, maintain a positive attitude, and never take ‘no' for an answer.Deborah grew up as a latch-key in a broken working - class home but before her family fell apart, her earliest dream was to become an ice-skating athlete and to compete in the Olympics. From the age of seven when she first put on ice skates, Deborah was willing to practice each morning from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. and then again, after school, for several hours a day to master her figure eights.Unfortunately, her dreams came to an end when her parents divorced and she and her sister and mother were separated. All throughout high school, she worked at minimum wage jobs to pay for her clothing, school supplies and necessities as her father did not provide any financial support. Her first job was working in a flower shop at a cemetery, then as a fast-food waitress and a drugstore clerk. As these jobs took their toll on her ability to do her schoolwork, her grades fell and her almost dropped out of high school. However, she was able to negotiate a solution with her teacher and managed to graduate with the rest of her class. This was her first experience with learning to never to take “no” for an answer.Pursuing her interest in dance, Deborah won the audition to join the USFL cheerleading squad in their first year and then went on to join a professional dance company touring Japan. After that ended, she returned to Los Angeles and began her modeling career which led to the famous Playboy audition. This audition was a major game changer for Deborah. After being asked to pose as a centerfold, she was then invited to also grace the cover of the, then, leading men's magazine in the world for the March and April 1990 issues. These two projects launched Deborah's “star quality” and led to new opportunities as a Video Jockey (VJ) for the Playboy Channel's “Hot Rock,” and appearances in several rock videos. In order to improve her acting ability, Deborah signed up for the two-year Meisner Acting Techniques program at world-renown Baron Brown acting studio. After completing that program, she went on to new roles in TV and film as a member of the Screen Actors Guild.Marriage and children then followed and for a while, Deborah put aside her acting career to focus on her family. However, when her marriage ended, she found herself having to support her three children. Returning to the working world, Deborah took whatever jobs she could find in her new home of Park City, Utah. Over the next five years, she served as the manager of a day spa and then a residential realtor for the second home market -- until the market crashed in 2008.Realizing that she had to reinvent herself, Deborah took a big risk: after a chance meeting with an executive in the print procurement industry, she asked for the opportunity to try her hand in global print sales. For this, she used her wealth of contacts in the entertainment business to open doors for this company, and then followed that up with her persistent winning attitude. Her meetings with high-level power brokers paid off, almost immediately, and she was able to turn her part-time position into the role of Vice President of Business Development within a year, making inroads that the company had never before achieved.Deborah's transition into the insurance world started off in the same vein – with a challenge to herself. Despite her personal insecurities about being new in the business, Deborah put in long hours of study. Keying into her business contacts in the entertainment arena, she began to build her book of business very rapidly. By the end of her first year, she was a top producer, followed by ongoing years of membership in the Million Dollar Roundtable, Top of the Table, and as a contributing member in Leadership for Advanced Life Underwriting (AALU).Deborah's clients have included movie studio moguls, celebrities, Fortune 500 leaders, and high net-worth individuals. From what she has learned in her ten years in the insurance industry, and from where she has come, Deborah's goal is to provide financial guidance to her clients, treating each with respect and remaining available for their needs.Over the past two decades, Deborah has worked on her inner reserves, as well, participating as a member of Tony Robbins' Platinum Lions Partnership. She has lent her support to a number of nonprofits that make a difference in people's lives, including: Richard Branson's Virgin Unite, Go Campaign, Operation Underground Railroad (#OURrescue), Cut50, Reform Alliance with Van Jones and in funding a school in Peru.On January 11, 2020, Deborah began sharing her winning business strategies in a talk she calls, “Not Taking No for an Answer,” as part of “Unblinded: The Business Breakthrough Game Sales Mastery Immersion Event.” Since then, she has appeared on a number of podcasts, YouTube and Facebook Live interviews and as a motivational speaker for other virtual events. Dedicated to helping women breakthrough negative, self-talk and take on any challenge to which they set their minds, Deborah knows how much of a difference it can make to have a helping hand when one needs it the most.

What is true - and a part of her character - is her willingness to take risks, maintain a positive attitude, and never take ‘No' for an answer. http://www.deborahdriggs.com (www.deborahdriggs.com) I started out as a performer at a very young age. I learned discipline and coaching really early on. My goal was to go to the Olympics as a figure skater…I got most of my life lessons early on from the coaches in my life. I had sport figures as my mentors and who I looked up to…I was obsessed with the athletic mind. If they can do it, I can do it! That was the mentality. Those lessons and that discipline…kind of carried me out throughout my life. The way I got into the entertainment industry was no accident because my first addiction as a kid was attention….I was seeking that so desperately. When skating went away, the next step was dance then cheerleading…so I landed a spot on a professional cheerleading squad which propelled me into morning shows, radio shows, talk shows, interviews, promotions… There was a lot of pushback….I got all the reasons why I shouldn't pursue that. One in a million people are successful…well that will be me. And that was how my mind worked. Because of my age, I had no fear…The older I got the more fear I got. The minute somebody would tell me ‘no' or ‘that's impossible' I'd go ‘Well, there's gotta be a way.' I just never took ‘no as the final answer. I had three agents…all of them wanted to sign me…I went on an audition for a commercial and I booked it…and I thought ‘there is no stopping me now' I thought I could do anything. I'd beg…see if I can get my S.A.G. card. Just give me one line. I was relentless…that's the kind of mentality I had. I went on an audition for a show…called Charles In Charge…to play his girlfriend…okay are you ready to read?…I start to read for the part and he just stopped me in my tracks….and he's like ‘You know, when you walked in this office, I would have hired you on the spot..but you don't know how to act.' And I took that very seriously and said ‘What do you suggest I do?'… I enrolled myself immediately into a two year Meisner technique… While I was doing that, I get a call form my agent that I should go and audition for this new book that Playboy was coming out with…they gave me a robe and told me to take everything off…I said ‘I'm not here for that.'… Back then, they were looking for scars, tattoos, birth marks, piercings…back then it was a big deal… I'm gonna leave my undergarments on…it doesn't go well at all…that afternoon I got a call that they were interested in shooting me for a centerfold and I thought ‘I think they are confusing me with another girl…' We all decided it was a good thing for me to do because at that time, Playboy was the number one magazine in the world and everybody wanted to be in the magazine. They got over a thousand submissions a day. It changed everything….everybody wanted to meet with me. I got on the Oprah Winfrey show, the Bob Hope special…while I'm doing this, I'm in this two year Meisner acting program… So I'm trying to be taken seriously as an actress and all this Playboy stuff is starting to happen… The thing that was cool about it was, I booked my first film and it was all cause I was studying and trying to be better as an actress…and here was another opportunity for me to have a coach in my life. I would just keep...

Today we wrap up my conversation with Deborah Driggs, insurance agent, mother, former model and actress, and Playboy's centerfold in March 1990. We discuss the role that fear plays when communicating in difficult situations. Enjoy! Abandonment, suicide, addiction, neglect, success, perseverance, undying will and passion. These are a few of the many things that bring us to the Story of Deborah Driggs. From a Playboy centerfold, awardee insurance industry's million dollar round table to author and ambassador. Marques listens to some of the many ups and downs of her fortunate life story.
In this episode we talk to Deborah Driggs. She is an all-around awesome person. She was amazingly humble, generous, and gracious. She has accomplished so much in her short time. She was even on two Playboy covers, and was Playmate of the Month. However, she has accomplished so much else. She is a mother, actress, entrepreneur, business person, and philanthropist. She had humble beginnings, but never took no for an answer, and always strives for more. This is a great episode, and Ms. Driggs, is an amazing guest. https://www.horsesinourhands.org https://azhelpinghands.org https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0237910/ https://www.instagram.com/deborahdriggs/ http://www.ddginsuranceservices.com/ (www.ddginsuranceservices.com)
When I met Deborah Driggs in a Facebook group for podcast hosts and guests, I admit that I set up an interview with her because after doing a little research on her background and experience I learned that as a young woman she had appeared as a Playboy centerfold. Well, you're not going to hear anything about that part of her life. Because during our conversation I discovered someone in whose life experience has made her a real expert in the art of communicating in difficult situations. So much so that I decided to split our conversation into a two-part episode. In this part, we focus on Deborah's experience as a both a child and parent of divorce and the lessons she learned about the vital role that communication plays in helping everyone involved – the parents themselves, their children, and even family and friends – grieve the loss of a relationship that was once at the center of their lives. I hope you enjoy our conversation and that you'll tune in to Part 2 in two weeks, when we talk about her career and how she has re-invented herself over and over again on her way to success in the insurance field. As always, thank you to Jim Cirillo at jimiumgroup.com for our original music and to Rachel Greenberger for our original podcast art. I've met some great guests through the Facebook group Podcast Connections. In this encore episode that originally aired last September, I appear as a guest on a podcast hosted by Mumbai, India-based Aaditya Mehta, Aaditya was kind enough to grant me permission to broadcast our interview. Stay tuned for more interviews with interesting guests I've connected with through Facebook, including Deborah Driggs, a successful insurance agent who has constantly re-invented herself over the course of a fascinating career who will appear next week. Until then, please enjoy this encore episode and always stay positive!
Many empaths/HSPs often feel like it's too late to become successful in life after facing a rough past in life. The truth is that never too late to create the life you want at any age. My next guest Deborah Driggs is a good example of that and well known for her start as a Playboy Centerfold and Covergirl to her life as a Screen Actors' Guild member. She was a top-rated insurance industry professional and had to clear many hurdles in life to make it these things happen. And while it may seem like Deborah's success came easy to her, nothing could be further from the truth. Rather, she's overcome a number of challenges in her life to get to where she is today but what is true, and a part of her character, is her willingness to take risks, maintain a positive attitude, and never take ‘no' for an answer. Deborah also talks about crossing paths with the rich and famous: Richard Branson, Tony Robbins, Van Jones, the prime minister of Bhutan, Martin Luther King, 3rd and his wife Andrea and guesting with Oprah Winfrey show. https://linktr.ee/oncallempath *Disclaimer-The subject matter including sensitive medical & mental health issues discussed on this podcast DO NOT constitute medical, legal, or any other type of professional advice and for entertainment purposes only!
