Aislynn floats the thought that everyone's perception of other people (and themselves) is a figment of their imagination and the Dinner Table Talk winds through just about everything from cancel culture to online bickering. Joe makes Zuppa Toscana (the sausage journey continues) and grabs a cup from Olive Garden, the soup that made Zuppa Toscana famous. Who wins the OG Taste Test? Movie date night out to 'Everything Everywhere All at Once' creates a mind-bending Dinner Table Talk. The magic of Crete, a trip to the restaurant supply store, what to call goat meat, and a jazzy serenade await you at The Dinner Table this week. Pull up a chair and follow the wang. Unanswered Questions: Which variety of green did Joe find so unpleasant? What does 'Cretan-style' mean in last week's Goat Tsigarelli recipe? If cow is beef and pig is pork, what do you call goat meat? Random Question of the Week: If you had an intro song that played every time you walked into a room, what would it be? By 'stinker,' yes, we mean a fart. Farts and burps make an appearance on this week's Dinner Table Talks when a talk about kimchi moves into gut health and odorous flatulence. Joe calls on you to tell us how you prepare sausage, we dive deep into How Full is your Bucket with a couple unintended rabbit trails, Joe makes semi-fail Mushroom, Chicken & Spinach Enchiladas, Aislynn hosts a beautiful Long Lunch Club, Joe makes Quick Vegetable Ground Beef Soup, and we wrap it all up with a conversation about tattoos. Whew. That's a big Dinner Table Talk. Unanswered Questions: What was 'the bucket book' Aislynn mentioned last week? What are the ingredients/preservatives in pre-prepared jars of minced garlic and ginger? Did we find a cilantro-based recipe for chicken wings? Aislynn 'manipulates' Joe into making a soup. She admits it! Today I have an amazing conversation with Jasmine Shea about everyday ways to create abundance in your life. Jasmine Shea is the author of over a dozen healthy cookbooks, the host of the Dinner Table Talk podcast, and the founder of Your Dinner Is Planned: a membership site that offers the fastest and most affordable way for busy families to get healthy dinners on the table. Her vision is to empower people to value their health in a new way, and she spreads this impact by providing resources to live a healthy, sustainable lifestyle with an approach that is simple and actionable. In this episode, you will discover everyday ways to create abundance in your life, the importance of learning how to have an abundance mindset and the simple way to get started with small acts of abundance. Highlights you won’t want to miss: What is Boujee Night and why you should plan one. How to create abundance in your life every day and why it matters. Why it’s so important to create a container of abundance, so that you can connect and align with your higher level success. How having Boujee Nights made Jasmine aware of her relationship with money. Why sometimes you can feel negative emotions when you are buying things. The questions you should be asking yourself when feeling anger or frustration as a result of spending money. The challenge Jasmine created for herself so she could practice spending money in ways that made her uncomfortable. How the challenge presented Jasmine multiple growth opportunities that allowed her to create more abundance in her life. Why it’s so important to create space in your life to allow growth, expand and level up. How to get started with small acts of abundance in your everyday life so you can experience small wins. The importance of noticing the negative emotions and your attachment to certain purchases and how they affect your life every day. How food choices allow you to practice abundance every day. Understanding that the way you experience abundance is related to your self-worth. Shareable Quotes: “My definition of Boujee is when you're trying to be really fancy, but you're not quite really fancy, but you're just owning it.” - Jasmine Shea “My mission builds upon this concept of the spectrum, because I feel like no matter where we are, no matter what we have access to, no matter what we have, we can absolutely create abundance with food, especially because we're eating every day. “ - Jasmine Shea “When we set up ourselves for growth, no matter what it is, whether it's growth in our business or stretching ourselves to be more abundant, we are sort of setting ourselves up with these little challenges for ourselves.” - Emily Aarons “One of the things my grandfather used to say was the value will last long after the price is forgotten.” - Emily Aarons Resources to Take You Deeper: Business Made Simple Free Resource: Crockpot Cookbook, 25 Simple & Healthy Dinner Recipes, Creating Money Book Jasmine's Website Find Jasmine on Facebook Find Jasmine on Instagram

First, I have to tell you — I am SO freaking grateful for you tuning in and listening over the last year (wow, it’s been over a year!). We have covered so many amazing topics together, from handling stress to traveling the world and implementing fun ingredients into your meal. We have 60 episodes full of tips, tricks, and stories that you can refer back to whenever you’re looking for advice on living a healthy, sustainable lifestyle. I’ve loved talking with you every week — but I’ve always realized there are OTHER ways that I can be showing up for you that light me up and will be amazing for you, too. And that’s what I’m talking about on today’s episode of the Dinner Table Talk podcast. Resources: JazzyThings, Inc Dinner Table Talk Podcast Your Dinner is Planned Jazzy Things on Instagram Quotes “It’s not just about my heart in these episodes, but it’s about the episodes I recorded that I truly, truly know and believe can change your perspective, change your life, change how you feel, change how you view healthy eating.” “I know I can change the world. We can all change the world because even if it’s just one person that we impact for 20 minutes or a split second, that has a ripple effect.” “When I say lighting me up, it’s when I know I’m in my zone of genius and I know that it’s easy, it’s light, it’s effortless, it’s fun. That doesn’t mean it’s not work, but it’s just effortless.”
Did you know that what you do in the morning can impact your day significantly? Think about it — what we do with our first few hours sets the tone for everything else to come that day! If you start the day energized, full of gratitude, and ready to tackle whatever comes your way, that is going to impact how you handle everything else that day. So, are you setting yourself up for success each morning? Or are you breezing through your morning routine without much thought and attention to how you plan for the day? On today’s episode of the Dinner Table Talk podcast, I’m breaking down 5 morning practices you can use to set your day up for success! Do you do something every morning to be sure you start the day off with a bang? Let me know on Instagram! Share a picture of your morning routine and be sure to tag me, @JazzyThings, so I can see it! If you follow me on Instagram, then you probably saw that in December, my husband and I went on a safari in Africa in lieu of having a wedding! Fun fact: ever since I was a kid, I said I would NOT have a wedding. It just felt, well, boring to me! Instead, I wanted to go on a safari. Fast forward to when I found myself engaged, there I was, trying to plan a wedding. We were talking dates, calling venues, working on guest lists. And then suddenly, it hit us… why the heck are we doing this when we could be doing a safari instead?! So that’s what we did! Now, you guys had a TON of questions about our safari, so this week’s episode of the Dinner Table Talk podcast is all about getting your questions answered (because living a healthy, sustainable lifestyle isn’t just about what you eat… it’s about how you live!). We’re switching things up on this week’s episode of the Dinner Table Talk podcast! Mom always said to eat your veggies, and now I’m telling you to do it too. BUT… these ain’t your average veggies, my friend. In fact, if you’re tired of the same old vegetable side dishes, you’re going to LOVE this episode… because we’re talking about five underrated veggie sides that you can whip up this week! These five recipes are easy to make and ultra delicious. Inspired to make one of these this week? Snap a photo and share it on your Instagram story so we can see! Make sure you tag @JazzyThings! Happy New Year! Can you believe it’s 2019 already?! Given it’s January 1st, you’re likely thinking all about those New Year’s resolutions you’ve set for the year, right? But here’s the dealio, my friend: New Year’s resolutions are bullcrap. Hold on! Don’t leave yet! I’m all about setting goals — especially at the beginning of a new year. I’ve set resolutions too. It’s not the goal setting that’s baloney… it’s when we set goals that we won’t actually stick to, just for the sake of setting goals. How many times have you set a New Year’s resolution and then, 90 days later, you’re thinking, “Oops… guess I didn’t hit that goal”? I’m here to make sure you don’t do that in 2019. On today’s episode of the Dinner Table Talk podcast, I’m coming at you with a planning exercise to make sure you set New Year’s resolutions that are actionable, attainable, and something you’ll actually stick to this year! You’re going to want to make sure you’ve got a pen + paper (or your phone’s note app!) and some space to actually think this one through. Let’s make 2019 your best year yet! I want to end the year with some real talk. One of the questions I get asked most frequently about the recipes in Your Dinner is Planned is, “What’s the portion size?” Here’s my answer: it doesn’t matter. “What?! Jazzy, how can you say that?!” Here’s the deal: I find that usually when people are focusing on portion sizes, they’re focusing on the wrong things. It’s so important to understand how food affects your body… but when we start to focus on how we feel, portion sizes become irrelevant. Focusing on how you feel teaches you to tune into your body and stop being so hung up on counting calories, following rules, and feeling stressed out. I’m breaking this down more on today’s episode of the Dinner Table Talk podcast! Resources: Follow JazzyThings on Instagram: www.instagram.com/jazzythings
We are well into the holiday season, my friend. And even if you don’t celebrate any of the holidays in December, it seems like we’re surrounded by delicious holiday food, doesn’t it? Now listen… you know I’m all about a balanced, sustainable approach to living a healthy lifestyle (I even did an entire podcast episode about how to have a balanced approach to the holidays!). But what if you could still enjoy your favorite holiday meals, but healthified and with a little more substance? On today’s episode of the Dinner Table Talk podcast, I’m giving you five ways to implement healthy holiday substitutes in your favorite dishes. This is not about cutting out those delicious holiday foods. Instead, we’re talking about how to utilize ingredients and substitutions that have value instead of just empty calories, while still keeping all of the deliciousness and indulgence of your favorite holiday dishes. Happy Holidays! Resources: Follow JazzyThings on Instagram: www.instagram.com/jazzythings
If you’ve been following me on Instagram, then you know that every week, my husband and I volunteer at a local animal shelter where we take the dogs on hikes! Now here’s the deal... Before I volunteered at the shelter, I really didn’t want to volunteer at the shelter. I felt sad about the animals, so I just didn’t take action. I thought I’d be too sad and it would be too hard for me. Spoiler alert: volunteering and making a difference actually isn’t about you. It’s something I had to learn, and it’s exactly what we’re talking about on today’s episode of the Dinner Table Talk podcast. You have the opportunity to create massive impact in this world. I guarantee you that the only thing that’s standing in your way is YOU. Let’s change that, shall we? Here’s to changing the world! Follow JazzyThings on Instagram: www.instagram.com/jazzythings
Do you find that you tend to sacrifice your health goals when you travel? I feel you, trust me. If you know me, you know I LOVE to travel. Now, when I’m travelling internationally, I typically have one major goal: eat as much delicious food as possible (okay, okay… and stay active, explore the sights, etc.). But here’s the thing — I also travel a good bit domestically. And I found that given I travel so much, I was getting WAY off track with my goals, because I kept telling myself, I’ll just get back on track when I get home… but I was never home! Sound familiar? On today’s episode of the Dinner Table Talk podcast, I’m sharing 6 tips for traveling with food so you can stick with your goals (and even save some money) when you’re traveling! You guys… no one is forcing you to eat like shit. Harsh? Maybe. But it needs to be said!! Now before I dive deeper into this, I want to set some expectations. If you’ve been a listener of the Dinner Table Talk podcast for awhile, then you know I define healthy as what is SUSTAINABLE for you. Healthy is a spectrum… and it’s different for everyone. So when I say, “no one is forcing you to eat unhealthily”, I’m not saying you’ve got to drink organic green juice every single day (I mean… if you want to, go ahead!). What I’m trying to say is… you know what works for you. You know where you fall on the spectrum. And NO ONE is forcing you to eat crap that doesn’t WORK for you! Alright, disclaimer done. Let’s get to good stuff. In Episode 33 of the Dinner Table Talk podcast, I’m dropping some #realtalk on eating like crap and taking responsibility for your goals. If you follow me on Instagram, then you’ve probably seen that I’ve been taking full advantage of the new Instagram feature that allows you to ask me questions in my stories. People have been asking a TON of amazing questions, but I got one recently that I just had to share with you on the Dinner Table Talk podcast! The question was: If you could only buy 5 ingredients from the grocery store, what would they be? Now here’s the thing… I’m all about simplicity when it comes to cooking (which is exactly why the recipes in Your Dinner is Planned are simple and fun to make!). So when I got this question, I thought, why stop at just 5 ingredients? Why not show everyone how to make 5 RECIPES from my 5 ingredients? That’s exactly what I’m breaking down today on the podcast! If you’re someone who tends to get overwhelmed by creating recipes, or you fall into a rut when using the same ingredients, your mind is about to be blown! You know what I’ve noticed lately? Somehow, we’ve stopped using “good” and “bad” to describe how foods taste. This is ALL over social media — and it’s oftentimes used as a way to make us sign up for some hot new diet, buy a new program, or feel GUILTY so we take some sort of action (AKA, it’s a marketing scare tactic that dilutes education, value, and REAL information). Now if you’ve been listening to the Dinner Table Talk podcast for awhile, you know that I’m all about defining “healthy” as what works for YOU. Which is exactly why I want to break down the issues of “good” vs. “bad” foods on today’s episode of the podcast. Follow JazzyThings on Instagram: www.instagram.com/jazzythings
