The Notably Disney podcast is a must-listen for any Disney fan whose interest goes beyond the latest theme park news or film releases. Hosted by the knowledgeable and enthusiastic Brett, this show delves into what makes favorite Disney experiences resonate with fans through the lenses of music and books. The range of episode styles is impressive, from fun discussions with other fans to interviews with authors, composers, and other key creatives behind beloved films and attractions.
One of the best aspects of The Notably Disney podcast is Brett's ability to bring in smart and interesting guests. Whether it's musicians, authors, or those involved in the creative process behind Disney properties, Brett ensures that listeners are treated to engaging conversations about all things Disney. With his sincere interest and interview skills, he creates a winning combination that keeps listeners hooked.
Furthermore, Brett's expertise on both music and Disney allows him to provide in-depth analysis and commentary on various topics discussed in each episode. He asks thoughtful questions that encourage guests to share their insights and perspectives. This not only adds value to the overall listening experience but also enhances our understanding and appreciation for the magic behind Disney.
However, one potential downside of The Notably Disney podcast is that it may not appeal as much to casual Disney fans who are primarily interested in theme park news or film reviews. While there are certainly episodes that touch upon these topics, the focus of the show lies more in exploring the deeper aspects of Disney experiences through music and books. Therefore, listeners looking for more surface-level content may find themselves wanting for more.
In conclusion, The Notably Disney podcast is highly recommended for anyone who wants to delve into the heart and soul of all things Disney. The combination of Brett's genuine enthusiasm as a host, his range of interesting guests, and their insightful discussions make it an excellent choice for those looking beyond the surface-level entertainment provided by mainstream media outlets. If you're a lover not only of Disney but of all things music, film, TV, and books, this podcast is definitely one to add to your rotation.

Three decades later and Disney's 33rd animated feature remains one of its most controversial for its historical inaccuracies and racial depictions. Yet Pocahontas also remains a celebrated film for its score and songs, garnering Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz a pair of Academy Awards. On this episode of Notably Disney, host Brett Nachman leads a discussion of Pocahontas. Joining Brett are two guests who have examined Disney work from a scholarly sense: Dr. Peter Kunze, Assistant Professor of Communication at Tulane University, who was on the podcast a couple of years ago to discuss his book Staging a Comeback, as well as Dr. Michelle Anya Anjirbag-Reeve, Affiliated Researcher at the University of Antwerp. As the last production that Jim Henson worked on, Muppet*Vision 3D is filled with laughs, heart, and ingenuity. To honor this magnificent attraction, author Aaron Wallace joins host Brett Nachman to share our memories, favorite show elements, including its brilliant writing, and they think represent the show's legacy, among other topics. The 96th Academy Awards takes place on Sun, March 10, making now a perfect time to think about Disney's role with the Oscars. Over the years many dozens of songs and scores have been nominated, and even a handful have won for their respective categories. Invariably, though, there have been some significant omissions, in terms of songs and scores that should have been nominated, along with songs that maybe should not have won or even been nominated in the first place. Of course, too, a few great songs missed the opportunity to win an Oscar, even if nominated. On this episode of Notably Disney, longtime guest and author Aaron Wallace returns to chat with host Brett Nachman about some takes of Disney songs and scores, and their connections (or lack thereof) to the Oscars.
