Doug Fifer of Fifer Family Farms joins Jeff, Mary, and Eric for a second episode to discuss how Doug manages change, inputs, and tighter margins with his farming and cover cropping systems. Doug acknowledges that we are all creatures of habit and have our comfort zones. Doug began experimenting and stretching his comfort zone with no-till farming and cover crops in 2010. As Doug built his cropping system and expanded his focus on cover crops as an integral input for soil biology and building organic matter, Doug's only regret is that he did not start when he was 25 rather than 50 years old. Doug reiterates that farmers are facing higher input costs and tighter margins; therefore, farmers need to be mindful of their actual return on investment (ROI) rather than solely focusing on yields. Return on investment is the bottom line. Cereal rye and vetch are two of Doug's go-to cover crops. However, he planted an 11-species cover crop mix last fall and will be doing a side-by-side comparison of the effects of the two systems on corn production. Where do you need to go with your farming? Doug Fifer of Fifer Family Farms joins Jeff, Mary, and Eric to talk about his experience and journey with no-till crop farming over the past fifteen years. Doug raises turkeys and cash crops in Mount Solon, Virginia, and is the president of the Virginia No-Till Alliance (VANTAGE).For Doug, his journey with no-till farming began in 2010 when he began questioning where his farm needed to go. As a youth, Doug remembers having to pick up rocks from the field after tilling and cultivating the soil for planting. He and his family eventually sent the moldboard plow to the scrap heap and stopped tilling the soil completely. In Doug's journey, he continues to learn, read, and experiment with vetch and more families of cover crops. He particularly enjoys meeting with and mentoring other farmers, and sharing his experience and lessons learned. One of Doug's regrets is that he did not start no-till farming sooner. The Blues can still not find that elusive third win in a row. After impressive wins over Carolina and Tampa Bay, we don't show up in Edmonton. Our special guest, Steve Fifer, helps us break this all down on this week's episode. We look into the continuing goal controversy. Is Hofer now the 1A and Binner 1B, or are we at a full 1-2 split? Steve helps us with what his trade deadline would look like if he were Doug Armstrong. With 2019 and last year's post 4 Nations push, we also look into the possibility of this team making the playoffs still.

Rebels, I really enjoyed this interview. I have an immense respect for law enforcement, and when you get to hear their perspectives on their work, it's always fascinating. Doug's book might not be for the faint of heart, but it really provides a brutally honest compilation of sexually deviant crimes. On this week's episode of Excelsior Journeys: The Road to Creativity, host & producer George Sirois sits down with Douglas Fifer, a decades-long member of the Alaskan Police Department who oversaw the development of so many depraved and explicit crimes that he knew would have an audience of true crime fans. So he took a collection of his experiences and turned them into an anthology called 50 Shades of True Crime, some of the most sexually deviant crimes he ever experienced. While he has naturally found a fanbase of true crime lovers, Doug has also gained attention from aspiring authors who look at creating their own anthology as a great way to introduce yourself to readers everywhere. 0:00 ... Ross hello & welcome ... introduces panel and dedicates episode #156 to Stephen Curry for his 56 point game against Orlando in February. 1:23 ... Ross tees up discussion of the Knicks big win over Boston on Monday night, giving NY a 3-1 lead in their playoff series. World B feels it was one of the most impressive Knicks games in more than two decades. 3:32 ... Bruce felt that even with an 11 point lead at halftime, the Celtics were not in great shape because the Knicks stayed attached the entire game. 5:04 ... Jayson Tatum played great until he injured himself in the final minutes but it appears to be a serious injury and it sure looks bad for his return on Wednesday. for game 5. 8:00 ... Bruce appreciated Tatum's scoring heroics in game 4, but took issue with some of his shot decisions and how they helped stifle the Celtics ball movement, thus playing into New York's hands. World B points out how Boston plays a lot of isolation ball and when they don't penetrate into the paint, they can be successfully defended. 10:46 ... With Tatum likely unavailable in game five, the guys discuss who might step up for Boston. Jrue Holiday might be ready to have a big night. 13:08 ... Ross and World B discuss the pressure NY may feel if Boston can somehow take game 5 on Wednesday. World B has lots of praise for Tatum and how much he respects him. 15:08 ... Ross is concerned that Kristaps Porzingis may be physically unable to step up in to help fill the void that Tatum leaves in game five. 15:39 .... The Cavaliers are being curb stomped by Indiana as they also trail their series 3 games to one. They may not be dead, but they're close to dead. The Cavs are lucky that Sunday's blowout only counted for one loss. 22:30 ... Bruce puts Bennedict Mathurin on notice that moves like his bush league punch in game 4 will get him extra scrutiny from the refs if the Pacers move on. World B feels like Indiana has exhibited some punk-like behavior in the series. 23:59 ... The Thunder and Nuggets are tied at 2 games each out west and OKC's defense has carried the team with their offense not looking especially sharp. 25:15 .... Bruce predicts that Shai Gilgeous Alexander will received his MVP Award on Tuesday night before game 5. Bruce feels that OKC's defense wore down the Nuggets in game four and in the final quarter caused the Nuggets to "drop their hands" like a boxer who absorbs too many punches to the ribs. Ross predicts a Nuggets win in game five and a seven game series ... World B agrees and has high praise for Aaron Gordon of the Nuggets for his performance. Ross feels Gordon is their 3rd most important player. 32:33 ... Game four of Timberwolves/Warriors was underway as the show was being recorded on Monday night and none of the guys felt that Golden State would come back to take the series. Julius Randle was having another big game and has found his playoff groove in Minnesota. With Steph Curry injured, they just need more scoring than they can muster right now. 36:14 ... The Draft Lottery took place on Monday night and the guys respond to the Dallas Mavericks beating the odds and earning the right to draft Cooper Flagg in June's NBA Draft. Bruce was thinking that when the Spurs made it into the top four, they might once again get the 1st overall pick as they did with Victor Wembanyama, Tim Duncan, and David Robinson in previous NBA Drafts. 37:50 ... The saddest teams in the league have to be Charlotte, Washington, and Utah, all of whom were hosed in the lottery and missed out on the #1 overall pick. 41:08 ... The guys take issue with ESPN's star NBA journalist Shams Charania claiming that Giannis Antetokounmpo discussed leaving Milwaukee for the very first time this weekend when he actually did it on our podcast back in September of 2023. We playfully demanded an apology but offered to kiss and make up if he joins us on a future show to talk hoop! Giannis' comments on 48 Minutes were instrumental in helping the Bucks to acquire Damian Lillard, which required them to trade Jrue Holiday to Portland and led to the trade to the Celtics. 44:10 ... Ross was on Milwaukee radio today and told the host "Sparky" Fifer that Bucks fans shouldn't panic because Giannis is loyal to the Bucks and the city. 45:38 ... Milwaukee can't expect to get equal value in return for Giannis in any trade because players of his caliber are hardly ever are traded. Oklahoma City has the assets needed to entice the Bucks into a possible trade, so we'll see if those teams do business in the off-season. 50:10 ... Ross wraps things up and says goodbye. TRT 50:33

KariAnn both teaches wine at Schoolcraft College in Livonia, Michigan and runs the wine program at the acclaimed Oak & Reel restaurant in Detroit. Commanding the Highlands restaurant atop Detroit's iconic RenCen building, Kevin Williams is literally the highest profile sommelier in Michigan, serving up 360º views of the city from 72 stories up to go with his great wine selections. Fifty Shades of True Crime: Sex, Drugs, and Killer Kink by Douglas Fifer Amazon.com Dougfifer.com The primary sex organ is the brain, an unrelenting and powerful receptor of aphrodisiacs, hardwired to get down and dirty and capable of imagining anything. You might think doggy style or downloading porn is getting your freak on, but you are about to indulge in a different realm of freakish sexual behavior. It is impossible to properly prepare you for what is contained within this book. What you are about to read and see, you'll never be able to unread or unsee. Cops witness it all, and as a seasoned twenty-five-year law enforcement officer, I will lead you through some of the strangest and darkest moments of humanity. Buckle up for the ride of your life as Fifty Shades of True Crime sets into motion a bizarre trajectory of next-level carnal knowledge. You'll never look at your neighbor the same way, you'll wonder about your best friend, and you'll imagine what your coworker does behind closed doors. Deviant sexual behavior is part of our human psyche, and as offensive as it may seem to some people, it happens in your community. Usually, the private world of people's lives remains undisclosed, but those secrets will come alive as you explore these real-life events. You'll get the opportunity to play "Name That Crime," a soul-searching experience that lets the reader pick a perp's perversion. "The Last Climax" will uncover what happens when we exceed the human limits of hypersexuality. And finally, if you want to spice up your love life, "Teachable Tidbits" is a step-by-step tutorial filled with naughty nuggets. Proceed with caution as you discover that your sexual desires might not be so freaky after all . . . or maybe they are?About the author Doug Fifer is a retired Alaskan police officer who specialized in crime scene analysis, deviant sexual crimes, hostage negotiations, and various special assignments throughout his twenty-five-year career. He started in law enforcement with the Anchorage Police Department in 1996 and retired in 2021. Born in the small town of Homer, Alaska, Doug and his wife, Kim, raised their children in the Anchorage area. His family originates from southeast Alaska, mainly around the Ketchikan area. He is Tlingit Indian and heavily connected to his Alaska Native culture and heritage. Doug and Kim are also avid oenophiles who started a wine business in Anchorage in 2007. Alaskans have a passionate love for the outdoors, and the Fifer family is no exception. Fishing, hiking, snowboarding, and extreme sports top their list. Their family dog, Malbec, is considered one of the kids and snowboards a bit too. As the author of Fifty Shades of True Crime, Doug brings to life stories so bizarre, so intense, and so twisted that the reader will be left speechless. This is not your run-of-the-mill true crime; it's straight from the source, an author-led journey into how far some will go to achieve their sexually freakish desires. You've never read a book quite like this one; it's a cringeworthy reality check on humanity. You might think you can handle the truth, but this cop's truth is as savage as it gets. When asked about the stressors of being a cop, Doug replied, “Humor plays a key role in keeping your sanity, not just in law enforcement but life in general.” His writing certainly reflects this philosophy, as Doug believes in taking life seriously—just not too seriously.

The sculpture “Forget Me Not, America” is dedicated to the 1,200 plus enslaved individuals living in Marietta prior to 1860. Plus, Rev. C.T. Vivian was one of the Freedom Riders and an important leader of the civil rights movement, who died in 2020 at age 95.
