Angie Nixon is running the same play everywhere it works: populism and affordability, gas and groceries and rent and utility bills. Hawk's read is that elected Democrats spent fifteen or twenty years answering to donors, AIPAC, and the DNC instead of their own voters, and this is what that produces. Hasan Piker, who Moskowitz named directly, responded by suggesting he log off and focus on beating the Republican. Nixon, a Black labor and political organizer from Jacksonville who has been a state lawmaker since 2020, defeated Alex Vindman by more than 10 percentage points, upending pre-election polling. Vindman, who rose to notoriety in Trump’s first administration by being a key witness in his first impeachment trial, had outraised Nixon by 16-to-1. Meantime, the race to replace two-term Governor Ron DeSantis will be fought between Donalds and David Jolly, a former Republican-turned-moderate Democrat. With registered Republicans outnumbering Democrats by more than 1.5 million people in Florida, Jolly will have to appeal to independent voters and hope that some Republicans stay home to deliver an upset.2) The Trump administration delayed 50% tariffs on billions of dollars of Canadian products for three days, saying the two sides had reached a tentative agreement to resolve a broader trade dispute that had plunged relations to a fresh low. President Trump announced the decision less than two hours before the tariffs were set to take effect. A White House proclamation later said the duties were halted after Canada “expressed a commitment to remove the discriminations” on US autos, dairy and alcohol. And the US Trade Representative’s office said the deal includes “comprehensive market access for all American goods, economic security commitments, digital trade alignment” and other factors, without giving specifics.3) President Trump insisted Tuesday that there were no talks ongoing with Iran, leaving the simmering conflict in the Middle East and control of the Strait of Hormuz stuck in limbo. Postmarketing active surveillance of myocarditis and pericarditis following vaccination with COVID-19 mRNA vaccines in persons aged 12 to 39 years in Italy: Primary findings: “…increased risk of myocarditis/pericarditis was associated with the second dose of BNT162b2 and both doses of mRNA-1273. SARS-CoV-2 Vaccination and Myocarditis in a Nordic Cohort Study of 23 Million Residents Primary findings: “In a cohort study of 23.1 million residents across 4 Nordic countries, risk of myocarditis after the first and second doses of SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccines was highest in young males aged 16 to 24 years after the second dose. For young males receiving 2 doses of the same vaccine, data were compatible with between 4 and 7 excess events in 28 days per 100 000 vaccinees after second-dose BNT162b2, and between 9 and 28 per 100 000 vaccinees after second-dose mRNA-1273.” https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamacardiology/fullarticle/2791253   8. Booster Vaccination with SARS-CoV-2 mRNA Vaccines and Myocarditis Risk in Adolescents and Young Adults: A Nordic Cohort Study of 8.9 Million Residents: Primary findings: “Our results suggest that a booster dose is associated with increased myocarditis risk in male adolescents and young male adults.” https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2022.12.16.22283603v1   In addition to these studies, the FDA has cautioned that some COVID-19 vaccines carry the risk of myocarditis and pericarditis, especially in young men. https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/coronavirus-covid-19-update-june-25-2021   Though not related to young men, on January 13, 2023, CDC cautioned that Pfizer/BioNTech's Bivalent booster vaccine might increase the risk of ischemic stroke in people over 65, a condition in which blood clots of other particles block the blood vessels to the brain. In one corner, there's Charlie Crist, the current Democratic congressman and former Republican governor. In the other is state Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried.
