Our “not in the 2020s” was how the episode qualified Sadie and Melissa having a “lesbian” baby and our “yes in the 2020s” was Schmidt's support of Nick's constant misspelling of the word “rhythm” and the loft all listening to Winston reading Nick's book aloud. This is a reference to the Mars rover that was designed to explore a crater on Mars through NASA. It was launched from Cape Canaveral in November 2011 and landed on August 6, 2012. The goal was to investigate Martian climate and geology and its mission was extended indefinitely. It is still operational and has been on Mars for over 8 years.John “Grizzly” Adams - When talking to Schmidt, Sadie refers to vaginas as a “Grizzly Adams.” John “Grizzly” Adams was a famous mountain man and grizzly bear trainer. He loved the outdoors and nature and eventually cared for and trained grizzlys for display, zoos, and circuses.Pommel horse - Jess mentions falling off of a pommel horse when being worried about having affected her own fertility. The pommel horse is a part of artistic gymnastics that is traditionally only used by male gymnasts. It has a metal body covered with foam rubber and leather with plastic handles, also known as pommels.“Arrive at the bridge, meet the troll, and then answer his riddles three” - When Schmidt is meeting with Sadie he shares the above phrase. While not specific to any one story, this is a common trope in movies and stories where there is a troll guarding a bridge that won't let anyone past unless they pass a test, usually with 3 questions.Studio 54 - One of Emma's fantasies that she explored with Schmidt on this episode was a French maid handyman with a Studio 54 busboy. Studio 54 is a Broadway theatre in Manhattan and used to be a disco nightclub. She attended the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL to receive her Bachelors in Public Health in the midst of pursuing a career as a Model and soon after an Actress. This is one of our favorite karate movies… for all the wrong reasons. Coming off of a serious movie in our last episode, Tiger Claws is the exact opposite. It goes straight to Silly Town on the express train with no brakes. One thing is certain, many, many people didn't know they were gonna be in the background of this movie. Between the karate, slo-mo, and Jalal attempting to do his best Sonny Crockett impersonation, there is a movie about Tarek's tiger addiction that needs to be addressed. We take it head on! John wonders if Bolo even knew they were filming a movie and Melissa proposes he was being Bowfinger'ed. Dominic is still in awe of the ability to kick someone while sitting criss-cross-apple-sauce. About Mark: Mark Ivanir has been working as a professional film and television actor in Los Angeles since 2001. His first major film role was in Steven Spielberg's 1993 Oscar-winning epic SCHINDLER'S LIST. He rejoined with Spielberg twice, first for a cameo appearance in Terminal, then again for his much anticipated Tintin. A pivotal role in Robert Deniro's 2006 film, The Good Shepherd, landed Mark a role in Barry Levinson's What Just Happened, this time acting alongside Deniro. Currently, Ivanir awaits the release of four studio features: Johny English Reborn (starring Rowan Atkinson), Everybody Loves Whales (staring Drew Barrymore, Kristen Bell, John Krassinsky), A Late Quartet (co starring Philip Seymor Hoffman, Catherine Keener and Christopher Walken) and 360 (co starring Anthony Hopkins, Jude Law, Rachel Weitz and Ben Foster). He has booked over 35 Guest Star and Guest Lead roles on television shows such as: 24, Monk, CSI NY, Law and Order, Fringe, CSI Miami, Nikita and many others. Ivanir's road to Hollywood was circuitous at best. Born in the communist Ukraine (former USSR), he immigrated to Israel with his family in 1972. While serving in the Israeli Army he participated in the then clandestine mission to bring Ethiopian Jews to Israel. His military experience and expertise has been tapped for various roles including De Niro's CIA thriller THE GOOD SHEPHERD. After completing his stint in the Military, Ivanir turned down several job offers from Israel's Secret Service and gave up studying medicine to pursue a higher vocation—clowning. He completed two years in a Circus school, traveled throughout Europe performing on the streets, and ended up working in a Parisian Circus – Cirque Pawelles. After leaving the circus, Mark entered into formal theatrical training, studying at Israel's top acting school Nissan Nativ, later co-founding a theatre company made up of actors from the former USSR called Gesher Theatre. Within two years, Gesher became Israel's top theatrical outfit and was hailed by the London Times as “one of the six best theatre companies in the world.” Tapping his command of Russian, English, and Hebrew, Mark performed many different roles, translated and adapted eight plays for the company, and performed everywhere from Lincoln Center to the National Theatre in London as well as major stages in Paris, Rome, and Berlin. After being cast by Spielberg in SCHINDLER'S LIST, Ivanir moved to London to study with Philippe Gaulier and the actors of the Theater De Complicite. During this stint, he landed roles in THE MAN WHO CRIED (with Johnny Depp) and SECRET AFFAIR which encouraged him to relocate to Hollywood. Ever since Ivanir has been working consistently in major studio film and television projects in eclectic roles spanning from a Russian spy to an Israeli producer to a German elephant trainer.
