Hallelujah was never meant to be tied to good days. It’s the cry of a soul that says, "My God is greater than my circumstances!” It’s the song you shout when the walls haven’t fallen, when the breakthrough hasn't come, when you're still waiting — but you trust Him anyway.Today’s message is simple and powerful: Praise is a choice. It’s not built on what you see — it’s built on who He is. It’s not driven by feelings — it’s anchored in faith. And when you choose to worship through the storm, you shake the very foundations of the darkness around you. Today we’re not just talking about worship — we’re stepping into a Hallelujah Anyway kind of life.

Hi friends, we are half-way through 2024! We decided that our favorite podcast conversations so far were when we chatted about our fabulous reversible dresses and our big remodeling projects.  Remember our "Other Halves", a.k.a. "OH's"? Well, they each experienced some zany calamities and "oopsies". A mysterious gas tank, a runaway iPhone, a missing wallet...easy to laugh about now! But bothersome when it happens, right? And it's not just befuddled Boomers, even the millennials had some mishaps recently. We are finally (finally!)realizing that life is full of calamities and problems- but we just say "Hallelujah Anyway!" and keep going! Jean's OH was the one who told us about the "Hallelujah Anyway!" approach- and it works! And cheers to our 86 year old friend Wanda for being a trendsetter! We would love to hear from you on Instagram, X and Facebook: @OK_BoomerPod. More Than a Song - Discovering the Truth of Scripture Hidden in Today's Popular Christian Music

Do you praise God amid deep distress? When your circumstances don't change, when the pain doesn't let up, when you feel like you're underwater and can't catch your breath, can you muster a song of praise to God? Rend Collective challenges us to do that in their song "Hallelujah Anyway." A man in Scripture found himself in deep distress and tragic loss and gave a hallelujah anyway. My first exposure to Anne Lamott's work was her iconic book, Bird By Bird, which as a writer, was transformative. Not just because it helped me better understand how and why to write, but also because her wonderfully wise and irreverent voice inspired me to be more real, more honest in both my work and my life. I've remained captivated by her writing ever since. The author of too many The New York Times bestsellers, including Almost Everything; Hallelujah Anyway; Small Victories; Stitches; Help, Thanks, Wow; and her most recent Dusk Night Dawn, Anne goes places other fear to tread with such humility, humor and craft, it's like you've been invited into her mind, her life and her ability to draw belly laughs, deep wisdom and hits of awakening from those often tiny moments that touch down in our lives that so many of us miss. She reminds you, it may not be fun while it's happening, but it's all part of the beautiful souffle of life and every ingredient matters. Mercy means offering or being offered aid in desperate straits. Mercy is not deserved. It involves absolving the unabsolvable, forgiving the unforgivable. Mercy brings us to the miracle of apology, given and accepted, to unashamed humility when we have erred or forgotten.” Anne Lamott, Hallelujah Anyway: Rediscovering Mercy Anne Lamott defines “Mercy” as radical kindness. Anne Lamott is the celebrated author of many books of fiction, essays, and memoirs. Her works include Bird by Bird, Hallelujah Anyway, and Crooked Little Heart. In this special edition of Insights at the Edge originally recorded for The Self-Acceptance Summit, Tami Simon speaks with Anne about acts of “radical self-care” and how they are essential for anyone's well-being. Anne talks about self-acceptance as an innately feminist concept, especially around issues of body image and self-esteem. Finally, Anne and Tami discuss how it is necessary to fully accept oneself before being able to show up for others, and why modern society often argues the opposite.

On this episode of The Recovering Catholic, Katie welcomes singer-songwriter Ruston Kelly.Ruston Kelly is an American singer-songwriter based in Nashville, TN. Kelly writes and performs the kinds of songs that inspire novels and movies. You could call him a bastard disciple of Kurt Cobain and Townes Van Zandt, and he'd be totally cool with that. He's just as comfortable wearing a cowboy hat as he is in a Slayer t-shirt. His story so far twists and turns through heartbreak and triumph, an overdose and rehab, empty dive bars and packed venues, living everywhere from South Carolina to Brussels. It's this unbelievable experience that informs his singular style—a gravelly patchwork of folk lyricism, grunge attitude, country heart, Americana spirit, and rock energy. Not only has he penned songs for Tim McGraw (“Nashville Without You”), Josh Abbott Band (“Front Row Seat”), and more, but his independent solo debut EP Halloween earned acclaim from KCRW, Consequence of Sound, RELIX, Apple Music, and more. “Poison” racked up over 516K Spotify streams, while “Black Magic” soundtracked the Season Finale of the CBS series Scorpion. He logged countless miles on the road sharing the stage with the likes of The Lumineers and Robert Earl Keen in addition to performing at Bonnaroo and Wakarusa. His latest release, Shape & Destroy, is available here. The Recovering Catholic is Produced & Hosted by Katie Pruitt; Artwork by: Sami Wideberg (Stolen Trailers Studio); Mixed by: Guy Fell; Edited by: Justin Thomas (Revoice Media); Music by: Katie Pruitt; Additional Music by: Ruston Kelly. Advice that begins with the simple words of wisdom passed down from Anne’s father—also a writer—in the iconic passage that gives the book its title. An essential volume for generations of writers young and old, Bird by Bird is a modern classic. Overwhelmed by the size of the task and the short amount of time left, her dad told her brother “Just take it bird by bird buddy, bird by bird”. However big the challenge is you just have to break it down, take it bird by bird and just get through. She said that in the context of writing, no writer she knows sits down feeling enthusiastic and confident but they do it – word by word, page by page.  Anne said there’s treasure in the piles of chaos and mess, and we need to make that mess to find out who we are. She also said that nobody is reading your first draft or nobody needs to read it. So if you’re putting pressure on yourself to show your first draft (on social media / to friends or family), you’ll find it too overwhelming – keep it for yourself. On the topic of writer’s block she argues that you actually are not blocked but empty. So you need to fill yourself back up. It’s all about the process. Sit down at your desk and tackle your book, essay or anything, bird by bird. BIG IDEAS 2 (7:19) – Write to tell the truth Anne always encourages her students in writing classes to start with their childhood and write anything and everything they remember. The Christmas celebration where your Uncle got drunk, the dress that your Grandma used to wear, the smell of cooking coming through the door, everything you remember. Write it down. Anne says that you need to write as people talk. And to do this well, you need to go out and listen to people really talking. In your mind, think how you would write that conversation as narrative so it sounds like people really talking. By helping your characters create their own narrative, you find things out about your characters as you go along.  The point of good writing is to create real characters with hopes and dreams. As a writer, you need to think as a writer and constantly observe and listen – you need to write the true representation of people. Observing and listening and capturing can be anything – from a snippet of a one-sided conversation when someone walks past you whilst on the phone, or the colour of someone’s hat at the supermarket. BIG IDEA 3 (10:11) – Be weird This book is full of irreverence, neurosis, quirks, hypochondria and general human weirdness. Anne gives voice to the weird things that we all say, feel, think and do but don’t always show or tell anyone. Because if something inside you is real, someone will probably find it interesting. This book is a perfect example of writing as a person that you really are not the person that you think you should be to write a book. This is very relevant to non-fiction writing where it’s likely easy to slip into the idea of who you ‘should’ be to be a non-fiction author, rather than writing from who you are.   On Writing by Stephen King: Why boredom is the key to great writing Music: In Pulse by Assaf Ayalon via Artlist Let’s Connect LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/steph-clarke Instagram: @stephsbizbookshelf Enjoying the show? Bear in mind that as much as I refer to these stories as 'stories', we should acknowledge them as historical accounts- because they are. So get comfy and get your favorite cozy beverage, because today we land in the story of Elijah and the victory at Mt. Carmel! God bless. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Trance Mission “The Final Cut Pt.1” (Let Go) Fusion of (mostly) current higher bpm Trance and Progressive house. Set was originally 02:30:00 hours, thought I would spare you the massive data charge and cut it in two parts. Mostly Trance I have never used before meshed with a few of my classics. Are you ready for it? Most probably not! I hesitate to call it Trance as it is meant to be fusing Trance and House into Trouse. Yet, the set is well within the Trance realm going from 122 bpm to 134 riding that emotional wave up and down, with highs and lows, builds and drops, bridges and precipices… as a journey into Trance should be. There is nothing harder (at least for me) than to mix a decent Trance set. The bpm range mostly disallow beat synch and every track needs to be worked and properly cued. Furthermore, it needs a structure and needs length to cover all the emotions of a good trance roller coaster. Finally, finding good, non-insipidly commercial Trance requires a lot of crate digging if ones wishes not to repeat every time the same classics. Anthems as they may be, they also need a rest! Anyhow, here we are, possibly the last chapters of the Trance Mission. It is a very post-produced set. There was hardly anything live about it! I do hope you will enjoy it and Spotify the new tracks or, here is a novel idea, actually BUY THEM!   One warning. I get a lot of comments, both positive and negative on the accapellas add-ins. Well, it is my quirk and my creative signature, for better or worse.   Playlist :   2010 Sax (Yasmin Le Bon vs. Simon Steur Remix) [Xtian Soul of a DJ Edit]. Samantha James2015 Hold That Sucker Down (Jerome Isma-Ae’s 10 Year Anniversary Mix) [Xtian Epic House Edit]. Jerome Isma-Ae, Roland Clark   Highlights:   I will only mention the new tunes. “Sax” from Ercola. Sax, Trance and House… Nice trio if you ask me. Thought it would be a good track to open the set. Mashed up 2 different remixes to have a slow soulful break in the middle. Veikka Erkola is a Finnish producer, songwriter and engineer. https://open.spotify.com/artist/7MocD7vMCHqPu8KV33lSLa?si=6bSQdMstRb6LFiy2BLSAlA “Moonlight” from Alex Greenhouse. Aleksandr Pletnev, a multi-genre musician from Samarkand, Uzbekistan. A slow driving progressive trance track, to bridge the set into Trance. Seems my edit has hit some buttons as I have had request for the edit file. I love what I did with the track, very much in my zone. https://soundcloud.com/alexgreenhouse https://www.beatport.com/artist/alex-greenhouse/313854 The Florence +The Machines anthem “Spectrum (Say My Name)”. A new remix, with grit and chops, which starts the journey into high bpm Trance.  Could not find much on the two remixers: Taito Tikaro and Flavio Zarza. https://open.spotify.com/artist/0gmu6abI9nakvXsGO1fnou?si=1mFS-qVyRH2xHlOwoowtnw “Let Go” with Holly Drummond on vocals and Jeremy Vancaulart. Classic Trance track, with the drop and builds and all the trimmings of the genre. I would get off with this track, if heard full blast. And the little piano bridge is delightful. Holly Drummond is a Scottish singer and songwriter. Her voice is poised, warm and never pushed out of range. Jeremy Vancaulart, Canadian from Toronto, producing Trance music that is deep, complex, expressive and impactful. https://monstercat.fandom.com/wiki/Holly_Drummond https://open.spotify.com/artist/24O8Ftz6AqboC3Uawbiw4r?si=R9LL0X83Rz-2otnJdvDP0Q https://www.beatport.com/artist/jeremy-vancaulart/288987 https://open.spotify.com/artist/5ImELkd8OgfpnIKfvCSmX8?si=6JVeiO9NQkydcN-ebi0KXw “Just to Hear” and “Sunshine Blue” Denis Kenzo, Sveta B. Two lovely little trance/progressive sugary tracks. For some it might be too commercial and sugary…but I like my Trance with melodic moments and Sveta B. voice is heavenly. For me, the tunes would be fitting for those moments, where the wave is overpowering and one needs a “rest”. Could see myself, just hardly dancing but with a massive grin on my face. Born in Khabarovsk, Russia, Denis Kenzo (Denis Pisarev) is a DJ and music producer, who is well known in the trance music scene. He was a former member of musical duo Two&One.  Some of his compositions are recorded with the participation of his wife Svetlana Pisareva (Sveta B.) His label has been picked up by Armada. https://open.spotify.com/artist/5wvd4ChcVYMYVj393AWF5G?si=BSSpAr9ITT-4DkXK47mdsQ https://www.facebook.com/svetabofficial/ https://soundcloud.com/denis-kenzo https://open.spotify.com/artist/66hvouo3QBf31PuetihmSQ?si=9L98Vl6CTfyOmm7rEQ9kcw https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denis_Kenzo “All the Little Things” from the Thrillseekers. Full on 135 bpm Trance, with the trance vocal, the drop, the build… Classic! The Thrillseekers need no introduction. But if you do not like this track. You just do not like Trance.. which is OK but your loss J. Steve Helstrip, known by the stage name The Thrillseekers, is an English DJ and record producer. His debut single was "Synaesthesia", released in 1999… Yes, THAT Trance classic! https://www.thethrillseekers.co.uk https://www.facebook.com/thrillseekersofficial/ “Nana” from Orkidea courtesy for Jerome Isma-Ae. THE TRACK OF THE SET! Tribal, Psy-Trance and House. A good Trance needs ONE massive track, which sets ravers off, the “rush” track and “Nana” is such a tune. The track, which will define Final Cut Pt.1. Tapio Hakanen, better known by his stage name DJ Orkidea (predominantly shortened to Orkidea), is a Finnish electronic music artist. DJ Orkidea has been one of Scandinavia’s top DJs for over 10 years. DJ Orkidea was employed as a sound design manager at Nokia Corporation. Not introducing German Producer Jerome Isma-Ae, as he is a regular here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orkidea http://djorkidea.com https://open.spotify.com/artist/3OOGJRs38Dvkuyh9bqIvXk?si=q_9IeGVWSQeY3JpL8fAlvQ http://www.jeromeisma-ae.com “Under the Stars” from Tydi. I need to bring it down and it is a nice bridge track. Mashed it up with “Hallelujah Anyway” Candi Staton soulful house anthem.  Actually, not unhappy with my effort but then… I “had” to mix it with a sped up version of the classic and pure Trance goers might disapprove and I am not totally sold on this track in the middle of a Trance set. This being said was quite proud of myself with the mashup, hence the Larse remix drop. “Angel on My Shoulder” and “Waves of Change” two of my progressive trance faves and there had to be a couple! “Hold That Sucker Down”, from the aforementioned Jerome Isma-Ae. Pure Trance/Prog big pad anthem, edited and as far as I am concerned, the perfect track to both close the set, bring you up, give you the tingles and goose bumps and define what Trouse is for me. Trance indeed.. but with soul!   I will be back soon with TranceMission Pt.2 Hope you enjoy it.   A bientôt.   Xtian

Hello friends, welcome back! This is a quickie! I'm on the road and I've been inspired with a new idea, from my friends on The Beautiful Writer's podcast. Their recent episodes with Anne Lamott and Glennon Doyle Melton have touched my soul and called me to share these words with you. The author of Hallelujah Anyway, Anne Lamott, shared her story of stepping into sobriety and working with her sponsor. She described how she transformed from a hotshot to a servant with her teacher's guidance. This information about our work + why we're here is so valuable and I just had to share with you today. IN THIS EPISODE YOU WILL LEARN: What our life's work is about How transforming from hotshot to servant is an evolution led by grace How our importance needs to come from a place of deep knowing What happens when we our soul gets in alignment with serving others How the temporary solutions we use to soothe our souls don't aide with deep healing Why connecting with others and doing this together is a part of why we're here SOUL-FUELED QUOTES: “What if we lived our lives presupposing that we did matter?” “I'm never going to get the love that I so deeply desire from others in the way that I can give it to myself.” “If we don't serve ourselves, we cannot serve others.” DISCUSSED IN THIS EPISODE: The Beautiful Writers Podcast with Anne Lamott Hallelujah Anyway: Rediscovering Mercy The Beautiful Writers Podcast with Glennon Doyle Melton

Fresh from her whirlwind tour for the #1 New York Times bestseller, LOVE WARRIOR, Glennon shares heart-centered updates on those dizzying details, as well as love notes on her recent divorce (yes, they're darling like that), and romantic musings on her engagement to soccer legend, Abby Wambach (simply captivating). Linda and Glennon couldn’t be more excited to interview their long-time idol (whom they’ve never met)—Anne Lamott—the much BELOVED author of the New York Times bestsellers: Help, Thanks, Wow; Small Victories; Stitches; Some Assembly Required; Grace (Eventually); Plan B; Traveling Mercies; Operating Instructions, and several novels—including Imperfect Birds and Rosie. And let’s not forget, her universally adored, how-to writing classic, Bird by Bird. Anne and Glennon have so much in common it's hard to keep up, but here’s a sneak peek list: Oprah; sobriety; motherhood; bestsellers; acts of charity; Sunday-school teaching, political activism, overall adorableness, and the not-so-enviable burden of social anxiety (unless you figure, as Linda does, that it’s sneakily behind their distinct talent for taking universal feelings and making them hilariously darkly dramatic and touching, thus earning them the adoration of the masses). Tune in as Linda and Glennon catch Anne BEFORE she embarks on tour for this, her 17th book: HALLELUJAH ANYWAY: Rediscovering Mercy. Because she hasn’t yet been asked a million questions on the topic and therefore won’t be looking for the exit routes. Because the world could sure use more mercy right about now. And because you'll soon find out what it means, where you can find it, and why it’s so radically important. Welcome!

House is a Journey

Trance Mission Episode 4 (Still with me?)   The fundamental question is: Are you Still with Me?   Apologies to all but I took a little break..   A few lines to frame the context:   I have had the set on my HD for now 4 months. I actually mixed it the day of the Charlie Hebdo massacre, hence the intro and then I kept it and kept it and .. kept it.   I had received a few pointedly true comments relating to the previous set, which, decent as it was, did contain a few too many poppy tracks. I may ( well I did...) have overdone the Sophie Ellis Bextor segment.. What can I say, I am just a weak old middle-aged straight man.. Not an excuse, just a statement.   Anyhow, I thought I would wait until Trance Mission Episode 4 was the best I could produce. Not inferring it is perfect ny now but the version I am publishing ticks all the boxes, covers all the criteria I had set for myself.   It is not just Trance, but House, Chill, Progressive, Tribal, Deep  and also Trance.. It is what I call Trouse and is the genre I would love the most if it ever existed!   Let’s set the scene. At the start imagine yourself about 30 minutes from sunset, it’s hot, you are on the beach somewhere and are listenning to Tribal beats. From there let the music wave guide you, take control of your body. Feel the beat, feel the wave and let yourselves GO!   The sun will set and it will be time for the party to get on its way. It will start with Trance, Disco, Dance and House anthems culminating in a Trouse fest.. Chicane feat. Jason Jinx 2012 Going Deep (VillaNaranjos Remix) [Xtian The First Time Edit]. Chicane feat. Jason Jinx 2015 Still with Me (Disco Citizens Mix). Chicane feat Bo Bruce.   Highlights:   Absolute gem and a 2015 release is “Still with Me” from the new Chicane album “The Sum of Its Parts”.  Originally the track was released in 2013 by Tritonal, Chicane took it to another level with Bo Bruce as a vocalist..  An absolute gem, classic Chicane, as good as Saltwater and his other massive tunes.. Love it!!   But perhaps because of the Tribal beat and the haunting melody, my absolute fav is “Now” from King Britt.. If you do not like the tune, stop following me because we are from different planets. In many ways it reminds of Ravel’s bolero.. Same structure, same false simplicity, same perfection.   Onto two classics with “Pressure” and “Hide U”.. Two of my “anchor tunes” and I do have a soft spot for Nadia Ali. The y fitted perfectly with the tribal beach vibe I wanted at the start of the set.   “Sun Goes Down” by Robyn Schulz, I heard the tune first on a live set from Chicane in Dubai. Though chilled and repetitive, I wanted to bring everything down looking at the sun going down and the tune fitted perfectly.   Once chilled and quiet down, time to party with a couple of Trance/Disco numbers. Starting with Umek’s very clever take on Moroder’s Chase from Midnight Express and a Freemason’s classic Pjanoo.. Should get everyone on their fit, with a wide smile ready for a BIG night.   Still with Me by Chicane.. Enough said, this is perfection in progressive or Trance or Trance..   Onto someone who first heard the unfinished set called “Rave music”.. Well it kind of is, but I tried rave music with a house twist throughout.   Starting with A&B “Lonely Girl”, I love the female vocalist , she is pitch perfect and the built and keys are what this style is all about.. Classical Music brought to EDM..   With “Only a Dream” we are now in full-on Trance but I thought that I could add a house anthem sample to make it more interesting and bring on what is pure Deep House here-after.. I shifted up the Larse remix of “Hallelujah Anyway” and with pure luck it worked! “One Thousand Sun” by Chicane and Ferry Corsten , another good friend, Denise , to whom I sent an unpublished file, made the comment that she did not like the tune. As Viv, my wife, had already told me once she did not like it either I thought something had to be done.   The tune fails because the vocal version gets irritating, A very mediocre vocalist or just not the key he should be singing in.. Anyhow I stripped the vocals and lo and behold thought I could try to mash it up with KOT’s Finally… Big work with a half decent result.. But BOY did I have fun!! This is precisely why I do THIS, to sometimes create! Reintroduce a short version of the original vocal stem and went back to “Finally”. Can’t wait to see how this will work out live..   Two Chicane tracks to follow “ No More I Sleep” and “38 Weeks”… I just did not want to shy away from Trance by this stage.. Episode is called Trance Mission after all.. Tried again to mashup KOT’s “Finally” into “38 Weeks” with limited success..   I had been asked by no les than my son, to remix my edit of Chicane’s “Going Deep” [My First Time Edit].. I had lost it when I changed computer and he wanted it as a workable playable file with stems separated. I have had friend’s telling me that once they heard those edits, they always wait for the samples to kick in the original remixes.. This was as good a time as any to do it and save the stems.   Closing the set with the beautiful and uplifting Disco Citizen Mix of “Still with Me” as a reminder that it is the catalyst of the set..   So ARE YOU STILL WITH ME?   It will take a little while for me to return to Trance but there will be an episode 5 and 6 in the semi-near future.   As I mixed 9 sets of pure Deep House when I was on holidays in January, I will wait for this set to settled and upload one Deep one weekly.   A bientôt.   Christian

Featuring cuts from the likes of Hercules & The Love Affair, Tensnake, Lovebirds and Jacques Renault, as well as previously unreleased material from Arthur Baker, Chasing Kurt and a sensational debut cut from Christopé and DJ Die’s Sure Thing project feature alongside some real gems from Candi Staton, Sister Sledge, Classixx and Freeform Five - making Bargrooves Disco the ultimate modern disco collection. In addition to the 30 unmixed and carefully complied tracks, Bargrooves Disco also includes two exclusive mixes from Bargooves' master curator and international DJ Andy Daniell; one re-establishing the seminal classics and the other, a collection of more contemporary tracks. Highlights include nu-disco champion Tensnake’s incredible remix of Hercules & Love Affair’s ‘My House’; a meeting of two pillars of modern disco that does nothing to disappoint. Elsewhere, the ultimate purveyor of the choicest disco cuts, Dimitri From Paris, reworks Sister Sledges’ inimitable ‘Thinking of You’, whilst Candi Staton’s ‘Hallelujah Anyway’ is left untouched to speak for itself; the ultimate modern classic from one of disco’s bonafide legends. Another noteworthy inclusion is from Melbourne’s master of the disco re-work, Late Nite Tuff Guy and his ‘Let Her Go’ Remix of The Tailors ‘Overdue’ featuring the sublime vocals of Ashibah. Its timeless disco sound, coupled with its flawless production makes it one of the standout cuts of this collection. And finally of course, no aficionado of the disco scene could ignore Jacques Renault’s reworking of Midnight Magic’s ‘Beam Me Up’; the cornerstone of any discerning disco jock’s set list. Representing the more modern strain of disco-influenced house are offerings from DJ Gregory, Kaine feat. Kathy Diamond and Alena. In the same category is Boe & Zak’s soaringly beautiful, disco-sampling ‘Looking For Love’ which we think is nothing short of a masterpiece. The same can be said of the Eton Messy-endorsed Lovebirds edit of Chasing Kurt’s vocal anthem ‘From The Inside’, soon to be released on Defected Records and set to be around well into the Summer. Making this collection even more indispensable is the inclusion of two more previously unreleased exclusives. Featuring the unique vocal talent of Jimmy Somerville, with the premiere of a new edit of the 80’s classic ‘I Believe In Love’ from American production legend Arthur Baker, with its hi-energy tactics is sure fire ammunition for any disco ‘floor. Likewise the eagerly anticipated ‘Holding You Tight’ by the effortlessly chic Sure Thing brings its infectious groove and stylised lyrical hook, will be sure to get the mirror balls turning. Representing a wide variety of both classic and contemporary sounds and at a very sensible price, Bargrooves Disco is the seminal disco collection for both the discerning clubber and DJ enthusiast alike.

What Happened to that Sound? Indeed... whatever happened to that Sound? I was out recently and suffered through 3 hours of intense crap. Not crap because " it's not my kind of groove" but for it was low quality, repetitive pop music remixed using stems and patches we have heard millions of times. The pinacle was an elektro remix of ... Cindy Lauper's "Girls want to have fun".. All of the above prompted me to drop a simple, little set, which, if it were to be heard in a club, would be an intro set.. Before the main crowd piles in, before the first DJ "has to" get people moving.. An 11pm to 12pm set, at the time when balances are set, the acoustics of the room are tested, when the DJ hopefully listens to the crispness of his trebbles, makes sure the bass does not resonate etc.. Also the time for him to go on a little me-me-me and listen to tunes that may not have a sure main room immediate appeal but which potential needs to be assessed through the output of a good sound system. Sexy, soulful, sometimes Deep and with a bit of funk to start the night.. Robby, Denise, i was thinking of you two whilst doing this one... We would get it! Playlist: 2012 Hallelujah Anyway (Larse Dub vs. Larse Vocal Mix) [Xtian Tails of a DJ Edit feat Boza]. Sadam Ant 2012 Geh Tiefer (Deeper Mix) (Xtian Phunked Edit]. Groove Addix, feat.Stephy Lange   Highlights: “Hallelujah Anyway” by Candy Staton, undoubtedly this tune will be in the top 10 soulful track of the year. Great vocal and Larse is giving this classic tune a 2012 shaper edge. I am quite partial of my edit of Giom’s  “Luv Lust”, I used the remix decks of Traktor for the first time, tried knobs I never dared to fiddle with before and the Andre Harris accapella is fitting for the intention of the set. Dawn from Pete Tong, I love this tune and goes right into my top ten for the year. “Fire” I sam happy of the edit and I feel the 20 minutes it starts with the Sami dee and Nina Bua jams to follow. Get Tiefer great deep tune from Germany, do not miss. Next set I will be back in full Soulful, fun, happy territory with a few tunes I have gleamed recently and a few remix of current tunes I would like to have a play with.  Enjoy  Xtian
