One positive thing that I've taken away from the past two years is how big a role music plays in creating strong human connections. And there's not just the music, but the touring is especially important for just that physical connection. Artists meeting fans, fans meeting artists. Like-minded people brought together by the music, by what they have to say through that music. Common, strong bonds. I first met Jess Finlayson in 2017 when she came touring from Australia with her band at the time, The Mis-Made, en route to Rebellion Festival. We've become friends and stayed in touch through a period that no-one ever wants to go through again. Check out Jess's latest project Raising Ravens and fabulous EP In My Room which is full of her trademark harmonies and powerfully observational lyrics. So it's a real honour to have Jess on here where we get into stuff like how essential these human connections are, her childhood influences, what she learned about herself as a teen with her first band Nitocris, coming together again with her long-time musician friend Jill Jackson and her biggest ever challenge - teaching Blackie of the Hard-Ons to "go live"……Dig in!

In 2017/18, some 3.6 million British women and 2.9 million men opened a Cash ISA account. Yet, in the same tax year, more men held a Stocks and Shares ISA (1.3 million) when compared with women (1 million), according to HMRC (25 June 2020).While women are great at saving, research suggests that we are sometimes overly cautious (or risk aware, if you will) when it comes to taking the steps needed to be more in control of our financial futures. This gender investment gap has a direct impact on women's wealth, pensions, and overall financial wellbeing. Sure, women may prefer to keep their funds stashed in cash savings accounts, but why is it important to invest, and where should you start? They say money makes the world go round. And it's not untrue. At the very least, it keeps our washing machines going round, the wheels on our cars spinning and the hours you clock in at work ticking. But if money is so embedded in our lives, why don't we talk about it more? Why is it so hard to understand? And why are some people excluded when it comes to matters of finance? As children, we're taught it's rude to ask how much something costs. For many, it's a taboo subject. Or even just unspoken. But when you don't speak about money, you can't learn about it. And what we learn in childhood informs what we know and what we can access when we're adults.  Once you're outside the financial system, it's hard to find your way in. Many of us didn't learn about credit or mortgages and are stumped with where to start. Some of us aren't sure how to budget or save, and some don't have access to bank accounts at all. So where does the responsibility lie? Why are certain groups of people more likely to be left out? And what does the future look like? Money, it's a funny old thing. And it's definitely not a one-sided coin. We believe that all people can make positive change happen through investing. Using your money to back companies that contribute to a positive social and environmental impact, whilst seeing a financial return, makes sense for us all. We want your money to target two returns: one for people and the planet, and one for you. Our Mission Our mission is to build a new financial system in the UK. One that works for everyone and delivers a positive impact on people and planet. What are we doing? Welcome to The Big Exchange. Invest in growth and make money count for more. Capital at risk. We want to build a movement to transform the lives of millions of people by building a fairer financial system that works for everyone. Whether it is lowering carbon emissions, contributing to social housing or protecting wildlife, investing through The Big Exchange can help drive real change to people and the planet, for your future, and for future generations. https://bigexchange.com/index.html
