Undisputed King of Stuff and Sink the Rising Sun author Jon Gabriel fills in for Jim today. Join Jon and Greg on 3 Martini Lunch as they discuss Maryland reversing its electric vehicle mandate, Democratic attorneys general taking President Trump to court over his executive order on election security, and a federal judge forcing the White House to reopen full access to the Associated Press.First, they applaud Maryland Gov. Wes Moore for walking back the state's EV mandate, which would have required 43 percent of new vehicle sales to be electric starting with 2027 models. Moore pointed to the Trump administration suspending funding for EV charging stations—a program that received $7.5 billion under President Biden and produced only eight chargers nationwide. But Jon and Greg also note that just 13 percent of new car sales in Maryland are EVs, highlighting how many Americans simply don't want them.Next, they criticize the 19 Democratic state attorneys general suing President Trump over his new executive order to strengthen election security, including a requirement to show proof of citizenship to register to vote. While election rules are primarily left to the states and Congress has some oversight, Jon and Greg are stunned by Democrats' continued opposition to even the most basic voter integrity measures—opposition that's likely to flare again soon with the SAVE Act.Finally, they slam on a federal judge's ruling requiring the Trump White House to grant Associated Press reporters access to spaces like the Oval Office and Air Force One. Jon and Greg argue this is not a First Amendment issue and question why a court would be involved with this at all. They also express fatigue with the White House press corps constantly acting the victim every time the White House does something reporters don't like. Please visit our great sponsors:Future-proof business operations with NetSuite by Oracle. Join Jon and Greg as they analyze President Trump's executive order to dismantle the Department of Education, the release of an American prisoner from the Taliban, and a plurality of Democrats being fed up with their own party's leaders in Congress.First, they commend President Trump's decision to phase out the Department of Education, citing the decline in student performance since its creation in 1979. Jon and Greg explain how this move won't end public education but will likely improve it by shifting control to state and local officials. They also push back against Democrats like Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who frame this as an existential crisis for schools.Next, they celebrate the release of American George Glezmann, who had been held hostage by the Taliban. While relieved that no Taliban members were freed in exchange, Jon and Greg criticize the Biden administration for failing to classify Glezmann as "improperly detained" for more than a year. They also slam the media for downplaying the plight of Americans imprisoned or killed by oppressive regimes and terrorist groups. Finally, they break down polling showing more Democrats view their congressional leadership negatively than positively. They also discuss the possibility of a tea party-style movement pushing the party further left and marvel at how Democrats continue to misread voter sentiment. Please visit our great sponsors:If I needed to find a doctor quickly, Zocdoc is what I'd use. John Kennedy's insightful and often hilarious analysis of the Democratic Party's struggles in the 2024 elections. Kennedy accurately points out why Democrats fared poorly, and both Jon and Greg believe that the DNC's recent elections prove the party still hasn't learned the lessons needed for future success.Next, they welcome the news that a prominent NGO is shutting the doors of its San Diego migrant shelter because no migrants have shown up there since Trump became president. While the NGO cites Trump's deactivation of the CBP One app, Jon and Greg suggest that tougher border policies and greater scrutiny of NGO funding are also significant factors at play. Finally, Jon and Greg discuss the latest rumors surrounding New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and her potential removal of NYC Mayor Eric Adams from office. And they share what they wish Joe Biden would say in his convention speech tonight. First, they offer a quick remembrance of Phil Donahue, the far left daytime talk show host who nonetheless wanted to have substantive conversations with people he disagreed with. Next, they enjoy watching Democrats like Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer squirm when asked to defend the price controls on food proposed by Kamala Harris. They also stress what a terrible idea it is to think the government should be tasked with solving  inflation problem with more intervention. Then, they recoil in horror as Planned Parenthood offers to provide free abortions and vasectomies at its mobile clinic near the Dems' convention site. Worse yet, the schedule for both filled up quickly. Greg and Jon express their disgust at how cavalierly the left discards precious human life and how it uses that disdain to push forward its political agenda. Finally, they examine the Dems being perfectly happy to let Kamala avoid specifics on issues until after the election. It shows how afraid they are if voters know just how radical their agenda. They also look ahead to President Biden's convention speech tonight - both what it probably will include and what they really, really wish he would say about the intraparty plot to end his re-election bid.

Sean also highlights the significance of proper breathing techniques, stress management, and the need for continuous improvement in one's personal and professional life.  Topics Include: The Gabriel Method Stress Reduction Effective and Sustainable Weight Loss Safety  [1:00] Lisa introduces her guest, Jon Gabriel, and shares her personal journey of how she met him and became a supporter of his work after initially being resistant to his message and how she knew she needed to work with him.  [5:00] Jon Gabriel shares the story about how so many people who are resistant to his work at first become fierce supporters, including several interviewers. Jon goes on to share how he eventually lost 220 pounds without dieting or forcing restriction but by eating healthier.  [9:00] Jon talks about his struggle with weight and his experience with various diets, including working face to face with Dr. Atkins.  [11:00] Jon explains the Gabriel Method, which focuses on getting the body to want to be thin by working with its survival programs rather than against them. This involves making the body feel safe, not forcing restriction, and how to turn off your fat programs. [17:24] Jon discusses the concept of fat as a survival adaptation and how understanding this can help in creating a sustainable weight loss strategy. Jon contrasts traditional dieting, which often involves forced restriction, with his method that focuses on making the body feel safe and naturally reducing the desire to overeat. Jon and Lisa discuss how fat programs are inherited for survival, particularly in conditions of famine and cold and how our biology interprets different types of stress. Chronic low-grade stress favors fat retention, while acute stress favors being thin. [22:24] Lisa shares her personal experience of losing 150 pounds through diet and exercise, and her initial skepticism towards the idea that diets don't work. Lisa uses the analogy of holding a volleyball underwater to describe the temporary nature of weight loss through dieting and the challenge of maintaining it. Lisa and Jon talk about the importance of understanding the connection between mind and body in weight management, and how stress and mental state affect physical health. Jon shares a personal anecdote about working on Wall Street and gaining 200 pounds due to stress, contrasting with a colleague who lost weight under the same conditions.  [36:16] Jon talks about how he felt like he didn't want to gain anymore weight and took a leap of faith and began his health journey with getting his sleep apnea addressed and real rest lowered his cortisol levels and how through that he lost 120 pounds without making any lifestyle changes.  [42:12] Jon talks about the effectiveness of visualization in weight loss, and how it helped him achieve his goals. [56:53] Lisa and Jon emphasize that safety is the baseline for sustainable weight loss. The body needs to feel safe mentally, emotionally, spiritually, socially, and physically to lose weight effectively. Both Jon and Lisa discuss the importance of a daily meditation practice. [1:00:00] Lisa and Jon close out the discussion with their excitement about seeing each other at the Gabriel Method Retreat at the Omega Institute and how to find Jon online: Jon Gabriel Instagram, The Gabriel Method Retreat at the Omega Institute, and The Gabriel Method website.  *The views of podcast guests do not necessarily reflect the views and beliefs of Lisa Schlosberg or Out of the Cave, LLC.
