This week we got together to talk about a brief, single-issue of comics that was important for the time even if it slightly misses the mark. In November 2001, Marvel released an issue of The Amazing Spider-Man commemorating and memorializing the events of September 11, 2001. Join us as we chat about the comic itself and the broader issue it tackled. For the next few episodes, we will be reading comics somewhat at random. We will go back to themed readings for Season 13 in February 2024, but for now we're just going to read whatever we want. Next week, we'll be revisiting a comic series we started literally years ago in Season 2 and reading Locke & Key Vol 2: Head Games.Check out the inaugural crossover of the Hall of Pods, our podcast network! We discuss Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness with The Fandom Optimists, Cape Corner, and True Believers: a Comics PoDCast! Find all of our links here. Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez created Locke and Key. Coke and Dank now breakdown Locke and Key AGAIN!. From IDW, a 2010 story about the mysteries of the Locke family, with suspense, new discoveries and a dangerous "friend" from the past. We go back to this world and find a new story, to talk about the characters, the plot and all the best parts of this creative, twisted world. -- If you want to request a comic book arc for Arc Analysis, hit us up on twitter or ComicPatrolPod@gmail.com --
The spooky season creepiness continues as we revisit Locke and Key with Volume 3: Crown of Shadows. We've got ghosts, dead bodies, and weird teenagers trying to go to a Muse concert. Scary stuff! Then we continue our trip through Earth-2 with Adventure Comics #462 where we see the death of Earth-2 Batman to one of the most infamous villains of all time. Next Time: Spider-Man: The Short Halloween + Storm Turns Into a Vampire (Uncanny X-Men #159 & Annual #6)

In this episode, Chris welcomes back Joe from the, “Comic Book Rundown” and “Ranger Alliance” podcasts to continue delving into the Locke and Key series by looking at the 3rd volume, “Locke & Key: Crown of Shadows”. Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez deepen the mystery of Keyhouse and the Locke family by crafting a story where the dead plot against the living, the darkness closes in on Keyhouse, and a woman is shattered beyond repair. Dodge continues his relentless quest to find the key to the black door, and raises an army of shadows to wipe out anyone who might get in his way. Surrounded and outnumbered, the Locke children find themselves fighting a desperate battle, all alone, in a world where the night itself has become the enemy.Joe on Twitter: @um_actually_The Comic Book Rundown on Twitter: @ComicRundownRanger Alliance on Twitter: @RangerAllianc3The Comic Book Rundown: http://comicbookrundown.fireside.fm Geek Ultimate Alliance on Twitter: @GUAPodcast NetworkWFTB on Twitter: @FinestBelieversWFTB Email: worldsfinesttruebelievers@gmail.comChris on Twitter: @ChrisBalgaSupport The Alliance On Patreon & Get Ad-Free, Exclusive, Early Episodeshttps://www.patreon.com/guanetworkGeek Ultimate Alliance Network Is Produced By GeekVerse Podcast www.geekverse.caNetwork Schedule Monday : World's Finest True Believers/Rangers Alliance Bi-WeeklyTuesday : DC Alliance Wednesday : Superhero DiscussionThursday : Star Wars/Slice Of Film Bi-WeeklyFriday : Marvel AllianceFollow the respective shows on Twitter so when they record live on GeekVerse Podcast Network you can join the chat and add to the conversation!
As part of our ongoing quest to return to some of the series we've previously covered, we're revisiting Locke & Key with Volume 2: Head Games which has everybody opening up their dang heads. Gnarly stuff. Then, we move on to Amazing Spider-Man #3, our first full-length Spidey story! Peter Parker is still kind of lame and he gives up almost immediately after meeting Doc Ock. What a nerd. Next Time: We celebrate the sixth anniversary of this podcast with the Big Hero 6 (2008)
We go back in time and back to Lovecraft, Mass. on this episode with Marvel 1602, and Locke & Key Vol. 2.

Under the Comic Covers returns this week to go over two perennial favorites, The Walking Dead #131, which reunites us with some old favorites while also introducing new characters, and Locke & Key Vol. 5: Clockworks, diving deep into the origin of the keys and answering each and every question posited in the first four volumes. Before we dig into those issues we have a few bits of news up front, as well as a couple of cool announcements regarding Walker Stalker Con Atlanta, and unfortunately we will not be releasing an episode next week due to Mr. Blahg's vacation. After all of that goodness we answer some emails and give our (Mr. Blahg's) opinion of various pickles ranging from fried to cornichons... and be sure to stay until the very end to get a brief taste of what Mr. Blahg will be immersed in next week. We at Under the Comic Covers don't plan on setting up thematic episodes (maybe a little, but not overtly), yet we do it again with another exceptionally creepy pairing of Nailbiter #4 and Locke & Key Vol. 4: Keys to the Kingdom. Nailbiter continues it's fantastic first arc by answering a few questions and asking quite a few more, all while leaving us in the dark in terms of who the real new serial killer is... Meanwhile, Locke & Key delivers yet another incredible chapter in what is one of our favorite completed series. Events come to a head as things boil down to genuine life or death situations, and what is left behind leaves much to anticipate as we come closer to the end. As always we answer your email and questions... although sadly, this week we only had one fantabulous email... but make sure to get your emails in quickly next week... we will be covering The Walking Dead and Rat Queens... so we expect more from you... send in those emails!
