On a bitter winter day, Kinsey Locke encounters a madwoman who just might be able to unlock the darkest secrets of Keyhouse. But forcing the truth out of her won't be easy, and besides... "Locke & Key" is the latest screen adaptation of writer Joe Hill. Is this a lock you want to pick? Keyhouse is a mysterious antebellum relic full of many doors and many secrets. The sprawling house has layers of surprises that are slowly uncovered by a handful of young protagonists. As each key is found, you'll find yourself wondering what door it opens in the sprawling mansion. Or is the key for something else? This new Netflix series offers mystery, suspense, and anxiety to anyone who constantly loses their keys. Based on the Eisner Award-winning comic book series by Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, the Netflix adaptation is more kid friendly, but still offers plenty of surprises and mysteries to unlock. If you are unfamiliar with the work of Joe Hill, he is heavily influenced by the writings of his father. His full name is Joseph Hillstrom King, and he was literally raised on the work of novelist Stephen King, his dad. Open some strange doors with us as we venture into Keyhouse. In this episode, Chris welcomes Joe from the Comic Book Rundown podcast to discuss one of his favorite comic book arcs which is the first volume of a storied run, “Locke & Key: Welcome to Lovecraft”. Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez tell a sprawling tale of magic and family, legacy and grief, good and evil. This first volume introduces us to the Locke family and Keyhouse, an unlikely New England mansion, with fantastic doors that transform all who dare to walk through them.... and home to a hate-filled and relentless creature that will not rest until it forces open the most terrible door of them all! **(Trigger warning: In this episode we discuss a sexual assault that occurs in “Locke & Key: Welcome to Lovecraft” to one of the characters which may be a trigger for survivors of sexual assault.)** Joe on Twitter: @um_actually_The Comic Book Rundown on Twitter: @ComicRundownThe Comic Book Rundown: http://comicbookrundown.fireside.fm

Working entirely online is liberating, but it’s also frustrating, and Jon and Drew are both wrestling with it lately. Drew is compensating for the isolation by renting an office space with friends who aren’t coworkers, but they are co-workers… if that makes sense. Jon works from a home office and wishes he had a third place. They discuss why the technologies for virtual co-working like Slack and video chat don’t work very well. Can VR or other near-future technologies fix it? Hopefully. The promise of virtual work is not only that it lets us do the work we want to do, but that it lets us do our work exactly the way we want to do it. To that end, starting with this episode, Jon and Drew are introducing y‘all internet friends to Ablaze Interactions (http://ablaze.co) and Keyhouse (http://keyhou.se), their respective consulting agencies. Interested in working with one (or both) of your hosts? Get in touch! Want to be internet friends?
