S5-E12, Have you ever wondered how a sour beer could evoke childhood memories of Grandma's peach cobbler or that irresistible sunshine pie? Join us as we swap Bob's usual antics for a whimsical journey through the world of tangy brews. We pop open Left Hand Brewing Company's Breezy Does It and Distill Brewery's Wild Sour Series Peach Cobbler, and let me tell you, our taste buds are on an exhilarating ride through the past and present. Our casual chat meanders from the nostalgic kiss of passion fruit and rhubarb to the deeper bonds of household harmony—or the hilarious lack thereof. Now, imagine coming home to find the gas tank on empty or the dishes questionably 'clean'—sound familiar? We've all been there, and in this episode, we don't just sample sours; we spill the tea on those tiny domestic quirks that can spark hilarity or havoc in our homes. Between sips of fruity, tart delight, we share relatable tales and tackle the great gas tank debate, all while keeping the laughter flowing as freely as our beer. It's a session full of flavor, anecdotes, and a dash of mischief with a mayonnaise squirt gun—because, why not?As we wrap up our beer tasting adventure, we toss around thoughts on survival by water alone and the icy mysteries of the poles, all while our palates rejoice over the complex dance of cinnamon and vanilla in our glasses. We raise a glass to you, our listeners, for joining us on this effervescent escapade through sour ales and life's simple, sometimes sour, pleasures. Remember, as we reflect on the love that's brewing for these complex concoctions, to savor responsibly and cherish the good sips and the even better company. Cheers to that!Support the showwww.anotherreasontodrink.com

Every now and then, a shark's gotta go ROGUE!!! That's right, it's time for the annual rogue episode where Dustin and Logan skip a shark movie and explore some other waters. Basically, like the episodes from the rest of the year. (Also, Sharktoberfest has been stretched into November. This whole conceit has maybe gotten out of hand.) Anyway, what better way to go rogue than by bringing in podcast bad boy and new nemesis of the show, Caleb Woodley! Back in March, Caleb was the winner of the Shark Madness bracket competition and his prize was getting to pick a movie and beverage to sample along with it. Well, he has chosen to attack Logan and Dustin with Vibrations, a movie from 1996 that really feels like it's from 1986 and features a man that loses his hands in an attack and builds new robot hands so he can become a techno DJ. The trio attempts to make sense of a movie that is more like 6 smaller movies and the main character kind of wanders through them all. They also sample Left Hand Brewing Company's Pumpkin Spice Latte Nitro to get a little taste of autumn. As with any time Caleb stops by, it's a confusingly fun time!

We talk about lessons from the SEALs, a story from one of the most famous raids in military history, the Osama Bin Laden raid, and coaching leaders. I share a glass of Death Before Disco Porter from Left Hand Brewing Company in Longmont, CO.During his 25-year career, Mr. Cooper spent nearly nineteen of those at the prestigious Naval Special Warfare Development Group, conducting combat operations throughout Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East.Mr. Cooper’s early operational history includes deployments in support of Operations DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM. In 1993, Mr. Cooper was selected for the Naval Special Warfare Development Group. From 1994 to 2012, he completed dozens of deployments, both in and out of major theaters of war, to include such places as Haiti, Bosnia, Somalia, Yemen, Afghanistan and Iraq. He has led extensively in combat at all levels, and has executed missions spanning the full gamut of Naval Special Warfare capabilities. From September 2009 to September 2011, Mr. Cooper served as the Command Master Chief (the senior SEAL Operator and principal advisor to the Commanding Officer) of the Naval Special Warfare Development Group. He is one of only fifteen SEALs to ever hold this position. In a role that took him from the battlefield one minute to the interagency boardroom the next, Mr. Cooper’s influence, interpersonal skills and leadership were instrumental to the unparalleled success of this elite unit.Throughout his career, Mr. Cooper was known for “setting the tone” for the entire command through his active involvement in the professional and personal development of officers and enlisted SEALs. Craft Brew News 08/08/19(Courtesy of Brewbound – www.brewbound.com)Down the Road Beer Company Founder Donovan Bailey Dead at Age 46Donovan Bailey, the founder of Everett, Massachusetts-based Down the Road Beer Company, died on July 31, at the age of 46.According to Bailey’s obituary, he died “unexpectedly” at his home in Malden.Bailey founded Down the Road in 2013. According to Bailey’s obituary, Down the Road was his passion project, after working in several different fields, including construction, serving in the U.S. Army National Guard and as an EMT.“When you love what you do and it’s your passion … it isn’t work,” Bailey’s obituary read. “The long hours and all that accompanies a successful start up business, Down the Road Beer Co. on Ashland Street in Everett was Donovan Bailey’s dream come true.”Last year, Down the Road produced 3,500 barrels of beer, according to data from national trade group the Brewers Association.Pyramid Owner Reaches $450,000 Settlement with Alehouse WorkersAround 300 current and former workers of Seattle’s Pyramid Alehouse will split a $450,000 settlement for unpaid wages, according to the Seattle Times.FIFCO USA, the parent company of Pyramid Brewing Company, will pay some workers nearly $10,000 for allegedly not paying them for overtime, inaccurately recording hours worked, or “time shaving” by deleting hours from time sheets, the outlet reported.Jeremy Brotherton, a now-former Pyramid Alehouse prep worker and dishwasher, told the outlet that his hours worked would be adjusted to below 80 hours so that the company would avoid paying for overtime. The lawsuit also accused the company of not allowing workers to take breaks or giving them time to eat meals during their shifts.A FIFCO USA spokesperson said the company takes employee complaints seriously and reviews all of its practices following complaints.Manhattan Beer Distributors, Delivery Drivers Engaged in $50 Million LawsuitDelivery drivers are suing New York’s Manhattan Beer Distributors in federal court for alleged wage theft, according to Law360.com.The case, first filed in 2015, resurfaced last week as workers and the beer wholesaler presented motions for summary judgment.According to the lawsuit, the beer wholesalers’ drivers claim that the company violated New York labor law by docking their pay for items such as “missing beer cans and unreturned pallets.” The drivers say the company attempted to recoup standard operational costs from them “first through garnished wages and eventually through invoices enforced by the threat of termination.”“The practice strikes me as especially appalling in light of the fact that this beer behemoth with a virtual stranglehold on the metro New York beer market chooses to illegally impose its losses on workers whose financial standing is far more precarious than its own,” Steven Wittels, an attorney for the drivers, told Law360.Manhattan Beer Distributors has disputed the drivers’ claims, arguing that the company did not violate labor laws because “a commission does not become a ‘wage’ until it is ‘earned.’”Left Hand Enters CBD-Infused, Non-Alcoholic Drink MarketColorado’s Left Hand Brewing Company is partnering with WAAYB Organics to launch a new line of CBD-infused, non-alcoholic sparkling water drinks called Present.Present will come in three flavors — “natural,” lemon-lime and blood orange — and checks in at zero calories and 20 mg of “full spectrum CBD distillate from hemp grown” on WAAYB’s USDA certified organic Northern Colorado farm. Online sales are slated to begin August 12, according to a press release.WAAYB Organics CEO Scott Cusack said in the release “We oversee the entire process from putting seeds into soil, to cultivation, harvesting, extraction and distillation,” WAAYB Organics CEO Scott Cusack said in the release. “We firmly believe this is the only way to create CBD products our customers can trust.”Subscribe to Craft Beer Storm Podcast iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/craft-beer-storm/id1438117278?mt=2*** A Top 20 Podcast in Food on iTunes ***Michael Potorti is the Host of Craft Beer Storm and Founder/Brewer at Beara Brewing Co. in Portsmouth, NH*** Interested in starting your own brewery? Hey, hey! We’re back!  This week we’re back with our first full-game playthrough in a while, and we thank you for sticking around while our schedules have been a complete nightmare.  This week we’ve got Teej, Schnell, and Nelson (Junior is on hiatus until after his wedding next month) playing a very fun game called Ex Libris.  Ex Libris is a resource management game, but rather than sheep, food, bricks, etc., we’re trying to collect certain kinds of books to build our individual libraries, while doing our best to avoid the banned texts that will net us negative points when scoring is triggered. Ex Libris is played in rounds until end game is trigged by one player having shelved 15 cards of books.  Players are then scored on things like secret objective achieved, shelf stability, variety of the books, and many other ways their collection can earn them points.  When it’s all said and done, the player with the most points at the end wins.  We all really, really enjoyed this game, and we think you would, too!  Ex Libris has an MSRP of $59.99, and is definitely a game you should be adding to your collection at home. This week in beers we've got Teej double-fisting Spotted Cow from New Glarus and Milk Stout from Left Hand Brewing Company, Schnell downing Honey Blonde Ale from Central Waters Brewing Company, and Nelson is doing across the pond to have some New Castle Brown Ale, which used to be brewed in Newcastle, but is now brewed and marketed by Heineken.

Jon Eric Wallace is the President and co-founder of Indian Peaks Brewing Company, parent company of Left Hand Brewing Company. Eric grew up around the world as the son of an Air Force officer, and was exposed to good beer at a precocious age in Germany. He graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1984 with a degree in international affairs, and spent 8 years in the Air Force as a communications officer in Italy and Turkey before moving back to the U.S. in 1993. Upon his return, he was inspired by the renaissance in craft brewing developing here in the U.S. and, along with co-founder Dick Doore, decided to jump headfirst into the craft beer business. One of Eric’s focuses is giving back to the local community where he works, lives and plays. He serves on the Brewers Association Board of Directors, the Colorado Shakespeare Festival Advisory Board, is a member of Longmont Odd Fellows Lodge No. 29 and Skyline Kiwanis. Left Hand Brewing Company has been named both small and large Business of the Year by the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce. In 2015, Left Hand generated over $687K in donations to many different non-profits through its various fundraising efforts.
