Director, producer, filmmaker, and photographer, Leslie Alejandro has spent most of her life in the entertainment industry. Her career as a professional musician started at the age of 15 and continued over the course of two decades. She then shifted her focus to publication as a partner/executive director at a celebrity and fashion digital magazine for seven years. Here she wore many hats - creative/art director, editor, and photo producer. After several years of experience on many sets, Leslie eventually found her passion for being behind the camera. From this, she decided to pursue photography full time. Her work has been featured in Vanity Fair, Variety Magazine, GQ, Men's Health, Teen Vogue, Women's Health, The Wrap, Nylon Magazine, etc. Alejandro's existing obsession with film and television and her ability to story- tell through imagery, composition, and stills then led her to discover her passion in filmmaking. The series revolves around the story of Lucifer Morningstar (played by Tom Ellis) the Devil, who was condemned to rule hell for all eternity after attempting to stage a rebellion in Heaven... until he decides to take a vacation in Los Angeles where he runs his own nightclub named 'LUX' as well as becoming a consultant for the LAPD. The series also focuses of Lucifer's connection and his relationship with Dectective Chloe Decker (played by Lauren German) and the mystery of why she is not susceptible to his gift of drawing out peoples' hidden desires. The series also stars Kevin Alejandro as Detective Daniel "Dan" Espinoza, D.B. Woodside as Amenadiel, Lesley-Ann Brandt as Mazikeen, and Rachael Harris as Dr. Linda Martin.   For today’s conversation, we’re sitting down with actress Lesley-Ann Brandt. Her journey begins in South Africa, where she grew up during the final years of Apartheid. She shares what it was like growing up in institutionalized segregation and how, at 17 years old, her family left the country to move to New Zealand. It was here where she discovered her desire to be on screen, and also where she booked her first series role. Since she’s known for her work on shows like Gotham, Single Ladies, Spartacus, and for her portrayal of Mazikeen on the hit show Lucifer.  She shares how she made it to the states, found a manager, endured lots of no’s, and made countless sacrifices so she could create a life telling stories on screen.
