Niall is joined by Erika Lust, a trailblazer in the world of ethical adult cinema, who is on a mission to revolutionize how we perceive sex on screen. Known for creating films that respect agency and realism, Erika isn't just focused on breaking stereotypes—she's out to prove that adult cinema can be both artistic and commercially successful. "Sex sells," she explains, "but it doesn't have to sell people short. We can create adult cinema where characters are relatable, their stories are rich, and sexuality is treated as an authentic, human experience."Throughout their conversation, Erika shares her journey from a political science graduate to a filmmaker committed to ethical storytelling in adult cinema. She reflects on the mainstream industry's issues, from exploitative labor conditions to the lack of diversity and representation. “Too often, adult content relies on outdated gender roles, objectifying women, and catering to unrealistic fantasies,” she explains. For Erika, ethical cinema is not just about what's on screen but the way it's created, emphasizing safe environments, respect, and meaningful narratives: “We put performers at the heart of the story, giving them a voice and choice.”The discussion also addresses society's discomfort with open sexual expression and how this impacts both viewers and the industry. Erika highlights how sex education—and re-education for adults—is needed to challenge the shame and stigma that persist. "Young people look to adult media for answers," she says, "and what they find often reinforces harmful stereotypes. We need content that shows real, diverse relationships, not just one-sided fantasies."Erika also describes the excitement and community at her live screenings, revealing the surprising demand for adult cinema in a theater setting. "We had 400 people in London last week, all gathered to celebrate sex-positive, artistic cinema. There's an audience craving a deeper, more thoughtful portrayal of sexuality," she shares. For Erika, the goal is to normalize this content as something people can appreciate openly and thoughtfully, not something hidden in shame. She envisions a future where adult films are not only available but respected as a genre, appealing to those who seek more than the typical "tube site" experience.Tune in as Niall and Erika discuss the intersections of ethics, artistry, and intimacy in modern adult cinema, with Erika passionately advocating for a space where people can explore their desires in a way that's both empowering and genuine. This episode is a thought-provoking journey into the future of adult entertainment, questioning not just what we watch but how we watch it, and how these stories could reshape the landscape of cinema itself.

Suzi Ronson was working in a hairdressers in Beckenham in 1970 when a Mrs Jones dropped in for a shampoo and set talking gaily about her son, “an artistic boy who plays guitar and piano”. The same son who'd had a hit with Space Oddity and occasionally drifted down the High Road in a dress. Within weeks she'd become the first rock stylist, transforming Bowie's hair, image and stage clothes and launching him in the direction of Ziggy Stardust and an international audience. She was a key part of his entourage that toured the UK, America and Japan and she talks about later life married to Spiders' guitarist Mick Ronson, the role he played in Bowie's success and the trials of his solo career in its aftermath. Both this podcast and her memoir (Me And Mr Jones: My Life With David Bowie and the Spiders From Mars) look at Bowie's early career from a wholly new and original angle - in fact someone should base a film on it. Anthony Bourdain had a lust for life. He went all in on adventure, indulgence, food, romance – including the romance of a heroin addiction that he chased through the restaurant kitchens and grimy rock clubs of 1980s Manhattan. For years he was a struggling cook and writer, but his first book, published when he was 43 years old, was an overnight success. He parlayed success as a writer into success as a TV host, traveling all over the world, dining with rockstars, presidents, and everyone in between. He dodged bullets, the real and the figurative kind, the figurative kind from the tabloids having the most impact. But in the end, he was unable to dodge the truth, which to a romantic like Anthony Bourdain, was hard to come to terms with. I absolutely love having high expectations for someone and they still manage to exceed them. That was my experience with this week's guest, Niall Breslin. After following Niall on social media because of his tireless work as a mental health advocate, months later I realized he's an accomplished athlete, musician, and former coach on The Voice of Ireland. When someone's work for a good cause precedes their success in business, you know they're doing something right. My conversation with Niall, and his infectious passion and energy when discussing his charity work and desire for better mental health services around the world, left me wanting to do more.https://www.niallbreslin.com/https://instagram.com/bressie?igshid=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==https://instagram.com/a_lust_for_life?igshid=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==
Welcome to Where Is My Mind? A podcast about how we can better look after our heads and our hearts in the head-melty chaos of the modern world. Niall has just completed his biggest challenge to date, kayaking the longest river in Ireland, the 300km River Shannon. Niall and some friends took on ‘The Rising' as a fundraiser, to get the mental health programmes created by his charity A Lust For Life into every school in Ireland. Although for a great cause, this gruelling challenge brought the team of kayakers to some vulnerable places, physically, mentally and emotionally. In this week's podcast we hear from Niall at different stages across the 7 days and how he really leaned on his mindfulness toolkit throughout every moment of pain, sickness and tiredness to push through to the end. This journey is a true testament to Niall's passion for passing these skills onto young people, helping them to understand their own minds. This is one of the best novels I have read. Irving Stone takes us into the tortured, brilliant mind of Vincent Van Gogh. Reading this will transform you and the way you look at the world around. My. book recommendation for the week is about a woman who made a name for herself in the tumultuous years of 19th Century France. Please drop a rating if you liked what you heard today. From a simple recording of David Bowie on the Ukulele, “Lust for Life” was extrapolated into the instantly-recognizable song we know today. Rolling Stone placed it in The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time in 2004—and yet again in 2021—when the list was re-evaluated and re-ranked. “Lust for Life” and its iconic, driving drum sound has been mirrored decades later in works like Travis' “Selfish Jean” and Jet's “Are You Gonna Be My Girl;” an illustration of musical ideas perpetuating their influence through the decades. On today's episode of Welcome To The Horse House: Chris' dog is a racist, Tristan airs his literal dirty laundry (its normal), Rudy gets pissed (about something i cant remember), Patrick makes a rare call-in, the Viral Audio Clip Of The Week is lackluster, the boys discuss iCarly extensively and nobody can find baby formula due to President Biden's mishandling of literally everything in this country. Outro song: Lust For Life by Iggy Pop
