We've enjoyed reading so many great publications looking at diversity and equity in behavior analysis. But, at some point, discussion and think pieces need to turn into application. So, this week, we're excited to have third-time guest, Dr. Sarah Lechago, discuss the ongoing work of her and her students at the BADIE Lab. We talk gender-bias in online communication, training behavior analysts to work effectively with interpreters, and the most understandable JEAB article we've ever read. The COVID-19 Crisis Had a Huge Impact on Early Childhood Education High schools and colleges these days commonly use distance learning as a routine part of their work to educate their students. But preschools and elementary schools don't often use these technologies or even have practical ways to do so.  When the COVID-19 virus caused schools to shut down, early childhood teachers and schools were forced to figure out how they were going to keep educating their kids, and for the private schools, how they were going to survive. Jennifer McCarville runs a wonderful pre-K through 3rd grade school in Helotes, Texas, called Marvelously Made. They were especially hard hit, because they were a no-screen school. So when their school was forced to send all the kids home, they had to figure out how to honor their mission, help their kids, and save the school.  This is an inspiring and lovely story, and is a great example of how dedicated, smart teachers rise to the occasion when their children need them most.

The 7-time Ontario/Northern Ontario champion and 2016 Scotties silver medallist joins John to discuss what it's like to try and compete with the world's best on a Tier 2 schedule, balancing a full-time career as a teacher with limited time off, her family, and the sport of curling. The two discuss her beginnings as a curler in the far reaches of Ontario all the way to her run to the third-place game at the 2009 Olympic Trials, and then move on to discuss her two-year layoff and her return to the game with a renewed sense of how to balance it all. Produced by Daniel Cuzzetto. Presented by CurlingZone, Hardline Curling, and Dynasty Curling. Theme by Graham Wright. Artwork by Kody Audette.

In this episode, the girls recap the Road to the Roar which took place in Summerside, PEI.  They discuss some of the controversial decisions: not to show the RRTR in its entirety, the pool format which created a log jam of tiebreakers and how that was handled, and not allowing the teams to wear their own uniforms.  The girls revisit their picks and discuss the surprises and disappointments of the week.  They celebrate the successes of Team McCarville, Team Morris, Team Tippen and Team Bottcher as they win their way to the Olympic Trials.  There is a new segment being introduced called "Ask the Girls" where they discuss the importance of the draw and getting off to a good start.  Lots of laughs as usual, especially when the new commercials comes up in conversation!
