This one was Darius' birthday choice, and its also pretty weird. take a wannabe SHRECK knockoff, some b list celebs, some weird racial/sex stuff (especially from a cartoon). But we had lots of fun.
Griffin Newman returns! And this time he's brought with him the Bat, the Cat, the Penguin, and….Shreck? Yes, we've got THE TICK's Arthur to talk all things superhero movies, performing in costume, transitioning from comedian to action hero, and why there will never be a better Bruce Wayne than Michael Keaton. Also, we gush about how truly reprehensible and brilliant Danny DeVito is in this film! He stayed in character throughout the entire production!

Feliz Escucha.

In the second of Amicus' Summer Series of interviews that step out of the day to day of jurisprudence to look at justice and the Supreme Court through a wide-angle lens, Dahlia Lithwick is joined by actor and playwright Heidi Shreck. Shreck created and starred in the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award - nominated “What the Constitution Means to Me” and is a fierce advocate for abortion rights. Together, they try to locate the spot at the intersection of politics, law, culture, media and art that might provide a space to adequately describe the impacts of the Dobbs decision. Coach Shreck is one of the best in the business. His dedication to his craft and willingness to grow and learn is one of the reason he continues to do an incredible job at Bucknell. Jerry Shreck is the head strength and conditioning coach and fitness facilities coordinator at Bucknell. He joined the Bison staff in 2000 and after threeseasons as the athletic trainer for the Bucknell men's basketball team was appointed to his current role, coinciding with the opening of the sparkling 15,000-square-foot Krebs Family Fitness Center and Berger Family Weight Room. A 1996 graduate of East Stroudsburg University with a degree in movement studies and exercise science, Shreck is charged with detailed daily strength and conditioning routines for each of Bucknell's athletic programs. A native of Mongomery, Pa., Shreck is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the National Council of Strength and Fitness. He contributes to many strength and fitness websites and is a question and answer expert of several professional fitness forums. Shreck, whospeaks at numerous national strength and conditioning conferences each year,is an innovator of several training styles and is sought out by many professionals for his injury prevention techniques. Under Shreck, the general philosophy of the Bison strength program is year-round periodization with a high-intensity base, supplemented with functional and sport-specific training. Training programs for most teams employ explosion techniques with power bands and plyometrics. The ultimate goal of the strength and conditioning program is the prevention of injuries and training athletes to their peak physical condition. We begin our second season with vampires as our topic and the "Nosferatu" as our drink: a 50/50 mix of port and brandy. Easy to remember, simple enough to make, and the perfect early evening drink after you emerge from your daytime slumber of the undead. But you never drink wine, you say? Well, you should start. It turns out I like brussel sprouts, and if I hadn't tried them recently I never would have known, so...don't let being dead shut you off to new experiences.Even though we actively mock the following films, we mean nothing by it and do not wish to incur your dark wrath, master:TwilightDracula (Coppola)Nosferatu (Murnau)Nosferatu (Herzog)Interview with a VampireContact Info:Hate-mail, questions or topic ideas for the show, hit us up on twitter at @BCBoozecast or email us at bcboozecast@gmail.com. This episode was originally broadcast on July 25, 2019. With the demise of Vertigo on everyone's minds, the lads thought it would be a good idea to have former-comics-editor-now-comics-writer Brandon (Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur) Montclare back on the show to pick his brain about his time working at the publisher. Montclare covers a lot of ground in this hour-plus discussion, including his Vertigo origin story, what DC did right and wrong with its handling of the imprint, pitched books that never saw the light of day, who legendary artist Mike Kaluta thought was a tough act to follow, and much more. Someone call Commissioner Gordon & tell him to light the Bat signal! In this episode I'll be talking all about Batman Returns. This is a one of the most legendary, cult classic Batman tales. The introduction of not one, not two, but THREE villains in one film should have been overwhelming... How did it have the space to fit Pfieffer, DeVito, and Walken into a film already starring Michael Keaton? By doing what Batman does best, sharing space for others to shine. Keaton's subtle performance anchored this story so the bad guys could go bananas. And they did! From high-jacking THE bat-mobile, to covering up the toxic sludge polluting Gotham, all the way to Selina Kyle becoming Catwoman herself... To this day, the visuals hold up due to the use of practical effects and detailed craftsmanship. They left indelible marks upon this dark, rich, gothic tale. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/sara-cktc/support
Welcome to the Spooky Stuff podcast. In this episode, Robert Murch and Rick “Ormortis” Schreck stop by the paranormal table to talk about the infamous Ouija board. They talk about the history of the Ouija board, the media's influence on how the board is viewed, Shreck's famous Ouijazilla, and how they came to become avid collectors and experts on talking boards.Robert Murch is the world's foremost collector, historian, and expert on Ouija and Talking Boards and serves as the Chairman of the Board for the Talking Board Historical Society which he founded. His bizarre relationship with Ouija began after watching Kevin Tenney's Witchboard in 1986, a century after the talking board made its debut. Murch purchased his first antique Ouija board in 1992 and became obsessed with unraveling the mystery of its origins. Since then, he's devoted his life to researching the history of the Ouija board and its founders, with Murch often traveling the world to track down descendants of all those involved with the introduction of the mystifying oracle.Rick “Ormortis” Schrek serves in TBHS along with Murch as Vice President. Ironically his collecting started the same year as Murch 1992 when he visited Salem Mass for the first time. Rick and Murch have known each other for a long time as friends and fellow collectors before the formation of the TBHS. His passion for collecting talking boards is rivaled by his obsession of making them which he has been doing for about 17 years. He uses materials that most won't touch, wood from embalming tables and funeral type stuff. Rick's biggest accomplishment is his Ouija board -OuijaZilla, the largest Ouija Board on the planet. It is featured in Ripley's Believe it or Not, Bind Blown, 2020. You can find more info about Rick at ouijazilla.com.
ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END AS MUST ALL BAD THINGS AND ALL THINGS RECORDED ON OBSOLETE HOME VIDEO MEDIA! Welcome to the home stretch! After dozens of movies and six hours of podcasting, we’ve come to the end of Genre Grinder’s shot-on-video horror retrospective. Gabe and returning extra-special co-host Patrick Ripoll (who, yet again, did most of the research) drag and claw their way through a final 16 SOV oddities; nine of which one or both of them were able to watch, including Mark Shepard’s Dark Romances Vol. 1 (1990), Carl Denham’s Shreck (1990), and J.R. Bookwalter’s Kingdom of the Vampire (1991). The list is shorter this time, but we both had a lot to say about some of these movies, especially Carl J. Sukenick’s mind-bending Alien Beasts (1991), Olaf Ittenbach’s gut-wrenching The Burning Moon (1992), and Scooter McCrae’s genuinely great The Shatter Dead (1994). . Again, people have asked for a list of the films covered in the description, so here you go. All of the movies that at least one of us has seen are marked with a †, while the others are discussed based on available information/reviews: Bimbos B.C. Welcome to an extra special BONUS EPISODE of Genre Grinder. What you are about to hear is a digital mixtape compiled and mixed by Tracks of the Damned creator Patrick Ripoll. It includes themes, complete songs, and various clips from the films we’ve been discussing throughout Genre Grinder’s shot-on-video horror series. Be aware that, in most cases, Patrick or myself had to rip the audio from the films themselves, so the sound quality will be uneven to say the least. Then again, that’s kind of the point isn’t. So, sit back, relax, and let the SOV horror vibes take you away. Complete track listing: 1a. WREX Station Identification 1b. 20/20 Report: "VCR Horrors" 1c. Sledgehammer (1983) opening credits 2. For Sarah and Raf, a certain 1989 marketing juggernaut changed the way they saw movies forever...and thinking about it drives them both a bit batty. In this podcast double feature, the hosts tackle Tim Burton's toxic-candy-colored "Batman" (1989) and the much-maligned "Batman Returns" (1992). Raf discusses how "Batman" laid the groundwork for modern-day comic book movies and ushered in the era of affordable VHS tapes. Sarah, meanwhile, notes that the film's kid-focused marketing and gritty embittered tone make it feel like "an angry divorced dad," though she stans Vicki Vale's bizarre fashion choices. But both hosts are here for "Batman Returns," the film that pushed Burton away from the franchise but won over Sarah and Raf's cine-manic hearts. They'll discuss whether Michelle Pfeiffer's Selina Kyle is actually a good guy, how Max Shreck is Peak Walken, how Bruce Wayne could've been the Penguin (or Shreck) in a different life, whether Batman and Catwoman could've made it work — and, most importantly, how this dark film about murder and corruption is really a Christmas movie. Just like "Die Hard."
Roger, Neil, and Mike are horror movie fans who have a mock seance to bring Nazi psycho Max Shreck back from the dead. Unfortunately, the seance works and Shreck wreaks havoc in our time and in his.

On March 19, 2019, the Supreme Court decided Nielsen v. Preap (and its companion case Wilcox v. Khoury), both of which consider the extent to which the mandatory detention provision of the Immigration and Naturalization Act applies to defendants who were not arrested by immigration officials immediately upon their release from criminal custody.Aliens who are arrested in order to be removed from the United States typically can seek release or parole on bond while any dispute about their removability is being resolved. Title 8 U.S.C. § 1226(c)(1), however, creates an exception: aliens who have committed certain crimes or have a connection to terrorism must be arrested when released from custody relating to their criminal charges, and almost always held without bond until the question of removal is settled. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit interpreted this mandatory detention provision to apply only when the alien is arrested immediately after release from prison. If a short period of time intervenes, the court concluded, the alien must be allowed the chance to apply for release on bond or parole.By a vote of 5-4, the Supreme Court reversed the Ninth Circuit’s judgment and remanded the case. Respondent aliens who fall within the scope of § 1226(c)(1), the Court held, can be detained even if federal officials did not arrest them immediately upon release.Justice Alito announced the judgment of the Court and delivered the opinion of the Court with respect to Parts I, III-A, III-B-1, and IV, and an opinion with respect to Parts II and III-B-2, in which Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Kavanaugh joined. Justice Kavanaugh filed a concurring opinion. Justice Thomas filed an opinion concurring in part and concurring in the judgment, in which Justice Gorsuch joined. Justice Breyer filed a dissenting opinion, in which Justices Ginsburg, Sotomayor, and Kagan joined. To discuss the case, we have Greg Brower, Shareholder, Brownstein, Hyatt, Farber, Shreck.

Brian has us riffing on Soundgarden. If they were “superunknown” at the time, it wouldn't last past the release of this fourth studio album. Soundgarden would break into super stardom with this heavy hitting, 5-time platinum effort. The strength and distinctiveness of Chris Cornell's vocals are obvious. Sometimes called Stoner Rock, Soundgarden would be a key element in solidifying the "grunge" sound of Seattle. They won two Grammy awards for "Black Hole Sun" and "Spoonman." The album cover is a distorted image of the band members and is known as "the screaming elf." Black Hole Sun This is one of the big hits from the album. There were 15 tracks on this album, clocking in at over 70 minutes, exploiting the longer format of CD's relative to vinyl. The Day I Tried to Live This track released as a single was a deeper cut not often heard outside of rock stations. The strategy employed by Soundgarden was to have each musician to create his own work, then collaborate after the song was written. Fell on Black Days Another hit single from the album, Cornell said that this song was about realizing "you're unhappy in the extreme." ENTERTAINMENT TRACK: Theme from "The Naked Gun 33 1/3" This music track was used for both the "Naked Gun" movies and the "Police Squad" TV series. STAFF PICKS: “Mr. Jones” by Counting Crows Rob's staff pick is the first radio hit from "August and Everything After," released in December 1993. They also did the song "Accidentally in Love" for one of the "Shreck" movies. "We all want to be big, big stars, but we've got different reasons for that." “Return to Innocence” by Enigma Bruce's staff pick highlights the use of sampling popular at the time. The drum beat is from Led Zeppelin's "When the Levee Breaks." Unfortunately the Taiwanese chant sampled was copyrighted, resulting in a series of lawsuits. “Cannonball” by Breeders This alternative rock hit from the Dayton-based Breeders is off their second album entitled "Last Splash." "I know you're a libertine. I know you're a cannonball." “Mary Jane's Last Dance” by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Brian closes out Stafff Picks with this song, originally going to be called "Indiana Girl," but Petty revised it to it's current form. There's not too many videos emphasizing necrophilia, but this is one of them. INSTRUMENTAL TRACK: “Train in the Rain” by Bruce Cockburn We finish off this week with a laid back fingerstyle guitar track.

She teams up with the Penguin and Shreck to destroy Batman, but sparks fly unexpectedly when she confronts the caped crusader.” We deep dive into the production, story, and history of one of Batmans’ most icon cinematic experiences. Tim Burton convinced Disney to drop the idea. "I was always very protective of [Nightmare] not to do sequels or things of that kind," Burton explained. Feliz escucha
The Penguin has been a crafty little fella and introduces us to his latest project - one that Max will be especially intrigued by! It's a shame we missed out on the kinky polaroids, however. This is all it takes - Shreck is now on board and the game is afoot. Back again is the chanteuse of Gotham - it's Bryarly Bishop! She can sing, she can act, she can dub-dub-dub and bring those voice-overs! What brigand could possibly best Bryarly's abilities? The next episode follows on Friday. Pengie tells us what he wants (what he really, really, wants) - to find out his name! He wants to be a real boy! Why would Max help him out though? Our sly sphenisciformes has thought about this and uncovered a disturbing truth about Mr Shreck... Entering the investigation and combating the toxic waste of Gotham is none other than returning champion Bryarly Bishop! As an accomplished singer, songwriter AND actor, Bryarly is a triple threat who is ready to crack this case. The next episode follows on Wednesday. Same Bat Pod, different Bat Minute! Minor sexism gives way to rather extreme sexism as Mr. Shreck laments the failure to have Selina properly "housebroken". If only she had some way of getting back at him... Along the way our intrepid investigators sleuth their way through clues involving Leatherface, coffee and ridiculously long, expositional, speeches! The Bat Boys know how to start your weekend with style and panache! Once more entering this Gothic Thunderdome are Rick and Julia Ingham from the Mad Max Minute podcast! They're the first to survive the audition! No longer will you be the waiting ones, good listeners... two teams of podcasters enter, but only one shall leave. The next episode follows on Monday. A thing as ordinary as a mailbox becomes the focus of all of one man's passions in Phil Shreck's eponymous story. Russell tilts not at windmills but at his mailboxes, old and new, and at a deep-seated sense of inadequacy. Shreck reads his darkly funny story aloud in a brilliant performance.
