Today's guest on the Chasing Poker Greatness podcast is one of the premier PLO players in the world… he's the mental game & PLO coach for poker training behemoth Upswing Poker, Dylan Weisman. What is immediately apparent in today's conversation with Dylan is that he's an absolute gold mine of poker, performance, and life wisdom. And the level of respect Dylan has earned from the greatest poker players on the planet is off-the-charts. Not only was he hand-selected and trusted to produce world-class PLO products on Upswing Poker, but here's a recent exchange he had with poker legend Daniel Negreanu and the WSOP on Twitter after nabbing a PLO bracelet at this year's WSOP:Dylan: “How do we petition for more mid to high stakes PLO tournaments at the next WSOP?”DNegs: “We can run 5-6 as a series and call them the “Weisman” invitationals with only one caveat: You are not invited. You MC the events but cannot play because you are too good.”While I sense some playfulness from DNegs in this Tweet, there's truth in it as well:Your poker chips are not safe when Dylan sits down at your table. With that said, the man is an absolute gem of a human being on and off the felt and it was an absolute honor and privilege having him drop Greatness Bomb after Greatness Bomb on CPG.Now, without any further ado, I bring to you world-class human being, poker pro, coach, and teacher… Dylan Weisman. To learn more about the Free Nuffle promotion, visit: https://chasingpokergreatness.com/free-nuffle-promotionNew CPG Cash Game Courses!Preflop Bootcamp: https://bit.ly/Preflop-BootcampFish in a Barrel: http://bit.ly/fish-in-a-barrelNeutralize Flop Leads: https://bit.ly/2OkN8Yt

And that’s finding the special strengths, the special traits, the special skills that we bring to this world, forget even athletics, but as human beings.” “Your mind is the most important thing you have going for you. I think once we recognize that then let it work for you instead of against you. It is your best friend; then you are going to be happier, more successful, and you’re going to be a magnet. People are going to want to be around you. They are going to want to know- what is it that he or she has.” In this episode, you will hear: - How Tami got into being a mindset coach - The 4 main principles she teaches that build confidence - How these principles can help everyone including non-athletes thrive in their lives Thank you so much for listening! Sam Hale is a certified Mental Game Coach and licensed human resources professional with more than three decades of experience coaching and counseling employees, managers, and executives in corporate America. Sam has also spent the last 20+ years in a variety of coaching roles in youth sports, as his four kids explored the athletic universe by playing a multitude of sports. He and his wife Kristen started LAUNCH Peak Performance when they noticed a lack of resources for athletes that were either struggling with the mental aspect of their game or were seeking to get a competitive advantage over there competition, both of which they experienced with their own son as he navigated middle school, high school, and AAU basketball on his way to earning a scholarship to play collegiately. As a certified Mental Game Coach, Sam helps athletes build and maintain their confidence while improving focus during competition, negate the negative self-talk that many athletes experience, and establish goals that enable them to achieve success within their given sport. Sam has worked with a variety of athletes, from middle school to college, and the success Sam has provided his athletes has garnered accolades from athletes, coaches, and parents alike. Mental Game Coaching can be done in person or through video conferencing online, with no office visit necessary. LAUNCH currently serves athletes in multiple states! Tami Matheny became a Mental Game Coach in 2008 and started Refuse2LoseCoaching, LLC. She knows the role the intangibles play in career success and longevity and has had experience with working on the mental skills at the collegiate level with tennis, basketball, softball, baseball, volleyball, golf, field hockey, cross country and soccer student-athletes. Tami believes that while it’s important to work on the physical and technical aspects of sport, the mental side is just as important; mental skills are often the differentiating factor for the most successful athletes. Tami understands that talent can not always overcome a lack of confidence or mental toughness, but a high level of confidence and mental toughness can often overcome a lack of talent. She enjoys interacting and working hands on with coaches, athletes, and teams to make a difference. In addition to working with student-athletes and teams, Tami has written The Confident Athlete: 4 Easy Steps to Build and Maintain Confidence in hopes of providing a easy but productive way for athletes to take control of their confidence. Tami also has spoken at various businesses, Rotary Clubs, churches. She has also presented at Dan Tudor’s Recruiting Conference. In addition to Mental Game Coaching, Tami Matheny was one of the most successful tennis coaches in USC Upstate tennis history. Working physically and mentally with the men and women’s teams to produce nationally ranked teams, conference champions, and numerous individual awards. Matheny became the head men and women’s tennis coach at USC Upstate in 1998. During her five-year stint with the tennis programs, she elevated the programs to levels never before seen. In her first two seasons as coach, Matheny led the women’s team to a remarkable improvement, as the team went from 0-12 the year before she took the job to 9-16 in 2000 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 2003. The men similarly quickly developed after an 0-12 season in her first year. The Rifles won five matches the next year before reaching the NCAA Tournament in 2001. By 2003, Matheny earned the Peach Belt Conference Men’s Coach of the Year, thanks to leading the Rifles to a 20-2 overall record and a share of the Peach Belt Conference regular season crown. Matheny coached the men to the Peach Belt Conference championship match and to the NCAA Tournament for the third straight time. On the women’s side, a 15-8 record helped the Lady Rifles earn their first bid to the NCAA Tournament since 1995. The women finished the season ranked 25th in Division II. In total, Matheny coached one All-American, five All-Peach Belt Conference selections and 39 Peach Belt Presidential Honor Roll selections. She took the Spartan men to the NCAA Division II Tournament a school-record-tying three times. There are similarities between the world of entrepreneurs and the world of athletes – parallels that can give direction to business owners who are trying to succeed on the playing field of economics. In this episode we discuss business as a mental game, mind-conditioning tricks athletes use to be successful in their sporting careers, and how entrepreneurs can apply this mentality to their businesses. Patrick Cohn, Mental Game Coach, tells us that focusing on the process over the outcome leads to the results we desire. He explains his formula for success which is no exceptions + high confidence + manageable objectives. He shares 4 things that separate the best from the rest: they have a strong base of physical skills, high motivation, an incredible work ethic, and confidence/trust in themselves. The 3 things that most likely get in people’s way of performing at their best is a fear of failure, perfectionism, and the fear of disappointing others. When athletes experience perfectionism, he encourages them to focus on embracing the imperfection and focusing on getting the job done instead. You can find Patrick on Twitter @ PeakSports.
