Send us a textJudy Rodman was a towering figure in the history of the city of Myrtle Beach. Starting as the Horry County Co-Chair for the Bob Dole for President campaign in 1988, then serving three terms, in two different eras, on the Myrtle Beach City Council, and then serving as a member of the City owned Myrtle Beach Sheraton Hotel Board, and throughout her entire tenure the city's representative on the South Carolina Hall of Fame Board, Judy Rodman maintained a dominant presence in the growth and success of the city of Myrtle Beach S.C. It cannot be overstated the powerful role she has played in turning this once sleepy, seasonal, tourist destination for North and South Carolina residents into an international tourism powerhouse. Through it all, Judy Rodman was there and her influence is literally everywhere you look as you drive down any road in the city she called home. Judy Rodman led initiatives to put utilities underground, protect trees, limit the number of billboards, build a Convention hotel, improve the cities recreation facilities, and look out for the growing senior population that has now grown to be the majority of the residents that have made the Myrtle Beach area their home. Judy Rodman did it all in her quiet, intelligent, understated way, often overshadowed by the more boisterous personalities of the Mayors and council people she served with in her decades of service to the city of Myrtle Beach in several different capacities. In this special edition of our podcast we try to capture some of the magic that was always present whenever Judy Rodman entered the room, as our community, Myrtle Beach, says farewell to , as Senator Ernest Hollings once said of Senator Strom Thurmond upon his passing, " A Mighty Oak in the world of public service" Boundless Insights - with Aviva KlompasIn depth analysis of what's happening in Israel—and why it matters everywhere.Listen on: Apple Podcasts SpotifyQuestions or comments at , Randalrgw1@aol.com , https://twitter.com/randal_wallace , and http://www.randalwallace.com/Please Leave us a review at wherever you get your podcastsThanks for listening!!

The late John Naisbitt coined the term “megatrend” to describe “long-term and transformative forces” that he saw in the U.S. economy. But all megatrends start small and grow over time, like the Mighty Oak. In this Mobile Home Park Mastery podcast we're going to explore the new “megatrends” that impact the mobile home park sector with predictions on their direction over time.

Root your being in the enduring strength of a mighty oak in today's meditation. Embrace the mantra 'I am grounded in strength, growing like a mighty oak' to channel the resilience and stability of nature's towering giants, growing ever stronger and reaching new heights with each passing day.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Think about the difference between the mighty oak tree and a quickly growing plant like a tomato. The oak tree grows slowly, it sends roots deep into the soil that will enable it to withstand strong storms, hot summers and cold winters. It eventually provides shade and a habitat for wildlife. However, the tomato plant grows quickly but doesn't even last through the winter. Our faith is much like the oak tree. It takes time. It takes life lived to grow a deeper understanding of who God is in your life and it takes time to learn His voice. As your roots grow deeper into the things of God, you too become stronger and more resilient to the storms in life.

Today we remember Al Hamme, celebrate his life, and lament his passing. A mentor to co-host Bill Carter, he was a co-founder of Bill's Presbybop Quartet. Co-host Jeff Kellam also enjoyed a great friendship with Al, stretching back almost sixty years. For over thirty years, he has been a strong advocate of jazz as an expression of the spiritual life.A virtuoso woodwind artist, Al was an extraordinary teacher. His performing resume reads like a Who's Who in the jazz world. So does the listing of the musicians that he taught and influenced. We celebrate his good life and we draw on the resources of jazz as a way of saying goodbye – and thank you. Our sermon series The Gospel of Luke, Part II: A Journey through Galilee picks up this week in Luke 7:18-35 where, from prison, John the Baptist sends his disciples to Jesus to ask, “Are you the one who is to come, or are we to expect someone else?” John clearly does not doubt Jesus as a truth-sayer, teacher, and prophet, but he is expressing questions about whether or not Jesus is the Messiah. By documenting John's questions, Luke provides hope and direction for us today. We can come to God with our questions, and we can trust God's long-term plan for His Kingdom and purposes.

Every year I pick a word to focus on for the year and this year's word was "Becoming." As I have gone throughout the year I've been taking notes and paying attention to what that word means to mean and learning all about becoming. In this podcast, we discuss what I have learned throughout this year! And it comes down to one thing: humility. Becoming who we have been destined and designed to become comes down to us realizing our own nothingness, but yet also our greatness. It comes down to loosening our grip on life and what we thought things "should" look like, and it comes down to being willing to be wrong. Being willing to have our ideas challenged and questioned. We all have seed's within us to become the mighty oak! Listen in to hear more! Andy Grammer The Good Parts Beware of Pride, Ezra Taft Benson Choose to be Humble

Episode #106 Original Airdate: 30 September 2021 Produced by: Doug Krisch Length: 36 minutes Special Episode... Please share with your nature-loving peeps... a great episode to introduce new people to this podcast... In this episode I give a tribute to a mighty white oak tree, whose massive umbrella inspired and protected my family and me for many seasons. Topics that appear in this episode include: rituals, seasons, relationship to nature. A real treat! Tune in! -- -- “For me, trees have always been the most penetrating preachers. I revere them when they live in tribes and families, in forests and groves. And even more I revere them when they stand alone. They are like lonely persons. Not like hermits who have stolen away out of some weakness, but like great, solitary men, like Beethoven and Nietzsche. In their highest boughs the world rustles, their roots rest in infinity; but they do not lose themselves there, they struggle with all the force of their lives for one thing only: to fulfil themselves according to their own laws, to build up their own form, to represent themselves. Nothing is holier, nothing is more exemplary than a beautiful, strong tree. When a tree is cut down and reveals its naked death-wound to the sun, one can read its whole history in the luminous, inscribed disk of its trunk: in the rings of its years, its scars, all the struggle, all the suffering, all the sickness, all the happiness and prosperity stand truly written, the narrow years and the luxurious years, the attacks withstood, the storms endured. And every young farmboy knows that the hardest and noblest wood has the narrowest rings, that high on the mountains and in continuing danger the most indestructible, the strongest, the ideal trees grow. Trees are sanctuaries. Whoever knows how to speak to them, whoever knows how to listen to them, can learn the truth. They do not preach learning and precepts, they preach, undeterred by particulars, the ancient law of life. A tree says: A kernel is hidden in me, a spark, a thought, I am life from eternal life. The attempt and the risk that the eternal mother took with me is unique, unique the form and veins of my skin, unique the smallest play of leaves in my branches and the smallest scar on my bark. I was made to form and reveal the eternal in my smallest special detail. A tree says: My strength is trust. I know nothing about my fathers, I know nothing about the thousand children that every year spring out of me. I live out the secret of my seed to the very end, and I care for nothing else. I trust that God is in me. I trust that my labor is holy. Out of this trust I live. When we are stricken and cannot bear our lives any longer, then a tree has something to say to us: Be still! Be still! Look at me! Life is not easy, life is not difficult. Those are childish thoughts. Let God speak within you, and your thoughts will grow silent. You are anxious because your path leads away from mother and home. But every step and every day lead you back again to the mother. Home is neither here nor there. Home is within you, or home is nowhere at all. A longing to wander tears my heart when I hear trees rustling in the wind at evening. If one listens to them silently for a long time, this longing reveals its kernel, its meaning. It is not so much a matter of escaping from one's suffering, though it may seem to be so. It is a longing for home, for a memory of the mother, for new metaphors for life. It leads home. Every path leads homeward, every step is birth, every step is death, every grave is mother. So the tree rustles in the evening, when we stand uneasy before our own childish thoughts: Trees have long thoughts, long-breathing and restful, just as they have longer lives than ours. They are wiser than we are, as long as we do not listen to them. But when we have learned how to listen to trees, then the brevity and the quickness and the childlike hastiness of our thoughts ac...
Rachel takes us on a journey into one of North America's savannas dominated by oak trees. They provide shelter and food for a variety of different animals and (surprise) are critically endangered. One of the biggest causes of decline is a change in land management when European settlers pushed out indigenous land caretakers. This episode is a little long but worth the ride. The film MIGHTY OAK is the story of Gina (Janel Parrish, “Pretty Little Liars,” To All The Boys I've Loved Before), a band manager who struggles after losing her brother/lead singer (Levi Dylan, 12 Mighty Orphans) in a fatal car accident while traveling to a gig. A decade later, Gina meets a 10-year-old music prodigy named Oak, played by newcomer Tommy Ragen, a real-life prodigy whose music inspired the screenplay. Oak seems to possess the same qualities as Gina's late brother, inspiring her to pull her life back together and try to reunite the band with Oak as its new front man. Directed by Sean McNamara (Soul Surfer), Cynthia Brian interviews several cast members. www.mightyoakthemovie.com Cynthia interviews award-winning journalist/author Jo Giese offering uplifting lessons in old-fashioned civility in her memoir, Never Sit If You Can Dance: Lessons from My Mother. MIGHTY OAK is a sometimes endearing, sometimes confusing drama about Gina, a former band manager still mourning the loss of her brother 10 years after his tragic death. One day, Gina meets Oak, a talented 10-year old boy with guitar-playing skills. Gina gets the band back together with Oak front and center, but she has her own warped reasons for doing so. Eventually, however, she learns to truly care for Oak and move from her past. Learn more at https://www.movieguide.org/reviews/mighty-oak.html

Need a perfect way to combat the January blues? I can help, friend! Listen to my chat with Jess Peterson (CEO and EP of Mighty Oak creative studio who make incredible handmade animation and design) about her love for iconic 1980's sitcom The Golden Girls and the queen of the known universe Missy Elliott (this is obviously a totally objective conversation on my part...). I also waffle on a bit about the emotional responses that art evokes. Wow. Sounds so weighty and cerebral, right? It is, dudes. It really is.
