„Es gibt nur zwei Geschlechter und die werden immer nur weiblich und männlich sein“, sagt Keith Caputo, der Sänger der bekannten Rock/Metal Band „Life of Agony“. Das ist vor allem bemerkenswert, weil Caputo von 2011 bis 2024 sich selbst als transgeschlechtlich ansah und sich Mina Caputo nannte. Im November des Vorjahres erklärte er dann per Videobotschaft wieder als Mann zu leben, der er immer gewesen sei.
“There are only two genders and they will only ever be female and male,” says Keith Caputo, the singer of the well-known rock/metal band “Life of Agony”. This is particularly remarkable because Caputo considered himself to be transgender from 2011 to 2024 and called himself Mina Caputo. In November of the previous year, he then declared in a video message that he was once again living as the man he had always been.
This week: a sister-cast episode to a series we have called the Inbetweeners where we on the bands straddling the 80s and 90s in rock n' punk n' metal. This is more specific to metal in the 90s after feeling the impact of the overwhelming shifting of sounds during the decade. Metal became a dirty word by the mid-90s as grunge and alternative took over the rock world, but a new movement in the metal genre blended all of these influences with the heavy. Thus, we give you - 90s Alternative Metal! What's this InObscuria thing? Our podcast exhumes obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal and puts them in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. This week we cover mostly bands that have been forgotten including some bands that we played early on in the podcast. The transition from the heavy metal 80s to the punk-edged alternative of the 90s was a time like no other, and metal bands that began during this time put it all in an industrial-strength metal blender. Hope ya dig! Songs this week include:Quicksand – “Thorn In My Side” from Manic Compression (1995)Fragile Porcelain Mice – “Brown Nickel” from Frostbiddin (1996)Therapy? – “Nasuea” from Nurse (1992)Corrosion Of Conformity – “Clean My Wounds” from Deliverance (1994)Prong – “Unconditional” from Prove You Wrong (1991)Fight – “I Am Alive” from A Small Deadly Space (1995)Life Of Agony – “This Time” from River Runs Red (1993)Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://twitter.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!: https://www.redbubble.com/people/InObscuria?asc=uCheck out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/If you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/

BLUE ARMY! Hello there, and welcome to another episode of Trve. Cvlt. Pop!, the best music podcast in the world... so we say. This week the World Cup starts... which is a bit bizarre, but we thought we would get in on the act and talk about the relationship between football and music. Steve knows all about the game, Sam probably calls it soccer, THE IDIOT, so we needed another voice to help us through, and who better to join us than frontman of Therapy? and massive Chelsea fan Andy Cairns. We look at 8 pre-tournament tunes to see if they hold up to musical scrutiny, from New Order, Baddiel and Skinner, Black Grape, Collapsed Lung, Fat Les, Ant and Dec, Dizzee Rascal and the England World Cup squad (on numerous occasions)... oh, and, yeah, James Corden as well. FFS. There's also talk of a few songs we've been loving this week, from Mina Caputo, Letlive and Girls in Synthesis. Plus Steve reports of Biffy and Architects big London show at the O2, and a much more intimate affair at Gang of Youths. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
This week on Toilet Radio we're talking about an up-and-coming Florida death metal band that decided to self-immolate their careers. We're also talking about Ghost riding a Tiktok meme to hundreds of millions of listens on Spotify. Mina Caputo has decided to side with anti-trans goons and that does not seem like a good idea! We talk about Zombie MetalSucks and the baffling choice to dickride Nergal for thinking about BUT NOT ACTUALLY DOING a publicity stunt. Finally, Breno takes a fat man's stand against Ted Nugent. It's a good one. Music featured on this week's show: Shooting Daggers - Liar This program is available on Spotify. The Razor's Edge - Interview! https://therazorsedge.rocks We chat with Sal Abruscato, front man and guitarist of A Pale Horse Named Death. Of course you may know him as the drummer and founding member of Type O Negative and also former drummer of Life of Agony. The interview covers everything about Sal's latest project, getting tips from Mina Caputo on vocal techniques, the pandemic and he explains what a negative impact Brexit is having on musicians from the US trying to tour the UK.
As one of the most eclectic and popular British metal bands and pioneers of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, Judas Priest and their vocal powerhouse frontman Rob Halford will forever be one of the greats. In this episode, the first of a two episode arc, host Jon Wiederhorn discusses the beginnings of Judas Priest with a strong focus on Rob Halford. As a closeted gay man in a heterosexual music world, Halford spent a good portion of his days with the band feeling isolated. Even still, his lyrics and piercing vocals paved the way for future musicians to lean into the aggressive nature of metal music. With exclusive interviews with members of Judas Priest, Diamond Head, Life of Agony, and more, listen to them talk about their experiences with Halford and his many influences on metal. FROM THIS EPISODE: Judas Priest lead vocalist Rob Halford talks about not being able to recieve sexual intimacy when he was closeted. He also shares the emotional turmoil he endured after being sexually abused as a child and how “Raw Deal” was the only Judas Priest song that truly referenced his homosexuality. Hear Judas Priest bassist Ian Hill talk about the band knowing Rob Halford was gay but waiting until he was ready to come out. Diamond Head guitarist Brian Tatler describes the influence Judas Priest has on his music. Lead vocalist of Pantera Phil Anselmo goes into detail describing what makes Rob Halford such a powerful vocalist. Life of Agony's lead vocalist Mina Caputo explains how the system didn't allow people to reach their full potential and be true to their nature. Listen to Judas Priest lead guitarist Glenn Tipton recount a story of a prank gone wrong with a group of Hell's Angels. The LGBT+ heavy metal podcast this week is joined by very special guest Mina Caputo from Life Of Agony for an extended discussion of her experiences of being out as trans in rock and metal, and how those experiences influence her creative process. [CW - descriptions of transphobia] We also have the first half of our albums of the year chat, and Joe tries not to cringe at Tom shoehorning Christmas/metal puns in between KoK gags.
Life Of Agony founder Mina Caputo stops by Inside Music to discuss her new solo record and much, much more. The goal of every musician is to develop a singular voice. Being the best of all-time barely compares to being your true self. Authenticity is something you cannot package and sell, but it does more for your soul than analytics or sales figures ever can. It's the kind of thing people spend their entire lives pursuing, and even then, only a select few pull it off. Mina Caputo is a revolutionary voice in rock. For more than two decades, Mina has consistently released engaging and challenging music that is hard to classify yet fiercely relatable. She touches on the pains of existence without wallowing in the despair of being. She writes songs that tackle the topics that matter to her, and she's historically unwilling to compromise. Best known as the voice behind Life Of Agony, Mina is also a celebrated solo artist with numerous albums. These works provide Mina space to further explore her artistic capabilities while giving fans a steady stream of fresh content whenever LoA takes a break. It's rare to find anyone capable of making two or more projects work, but Mina makes it seem easy. Recently, Mina stopped by Inside Music to discuss her career, her critics, and how she became a vocal supporter of doing whatever you want with the limited time we have on this planet. Some may consider her views to be incendiary, but they are true to her feelings, which is what Mina aspires to achieve in every act of self-expression. Enjoy.
Episode 229 - Mina Caputo of NYC legends Life of Agony joins the show! After releasing several classic hardcore influenced Alternative-Metal albums in the 90's (including the seminal "River Runs Red") Mina left Life of Agony to pursue a solo career. After a return to the band in 2002, Mina transitioned in 2011 only to have the band go on hiatus again. In 2014, Life of Agony came back in a big way, singing to Napalm Records and putting out new music, including the hit single "Scars". Shane and Mina discuss growing up in NYC in the 80's, their first trip to Europe in the 90's, the departure of drummer Sal Abruscato, and much much more. Learn more about your ad choices. Mina Caputo is not charging for the follow lecture in episode 72. You'll understand once you listen... Mina first came into prominence with her band Life of Agony in the early 90s. Since then she has quite the journey, including coming out as transgender in 2011. Her story has already inspired so many, but that's only what we knew. Untold tales of auditioning for both Velvet Revolver and the Doors is the start of our conversation, then somehow leads down a thought-provoking road about self-love and the human condition. This is a can't-miss episode with one of rock's most respected vocalists.
June is Pride month and after experiencing my first Pride festival, Kaytie and I got to talking about being open, about being who we are as individuals, (after some poop talk of course, it's us what did you expect?) At the end of the day it is just about being good humans. After having this discussion we left some people out of the conversation who are out as gay or bisexual in the world of rock, Plus of course trans-gendered rock stars like Laura Jane Grace or Mina Caputo. Just be you and don't judge others for things they can't control. As funny and stupid as we tend to be the message here is love, period.Follow on social channels:Kaytie @ktrgrocksCutter @cuttermedia

In this week's episode you can listen to Bailey panic and vamp for her life while she does the show with no guests and no tech engineer while also playing some awesomely talented transgender musicians such as: Mina Caputo, Namoli Brennet, and Eli Conley. Bailey also reads sections of the fabulous book by Kate Bornstein, "Hello Cruel World: 101 Alternatives To Suicide For Teens, Freaks, And Other Outlaws."
Bailey has an in-depth and spiritually fullfilling conversation with the glowing goddess of light and love that is Mina Caputo. Mina is a transgendered musician, formerly of the band Life of Agony. Her journey to womanhood was as special and interesting as she is.
The first episode of third gender radio. Bailey discusses transgender issues, answers letters from TS in need of advice, plays music by transgender artist Mina Caputo, and interviews Annika.
