Charlie Corletta returns to the show to discuss the Pantera Reunion/Tribute that is currently touring the US and playing festivals, headlining shows, and is supporting Metallica.  Charlie and J-Bunny share their opinions on the shows after seeing them live, and refute some of the negative feedback people online have been giving regarding the current lineup of the band.  They also discuss the sense of community felt at these concerts, how the current lineup is paying tribute to the Dimebag and Vinnie Paul Abbot, experiences meeting Rita Haney on tour, and their stories of how they found out that Dimebag was murdered in 2004.  They also discuss how Jose Mangin has been keeping the spirit of Pantera alive, and how he deserves credit for these shows happening.  J-Bunny also recounts his experience being on-air on SiriusXM Liquid Metal with Jose in 2015.  Charlie recounts how when he first met J-Bunny, he was "the guy with the Dimebag shirt" and J-Bunny explains why he almost always wears some sort of Dimebag Darrell-related shirt to concerts.  Charlie and J-Bunny also talk about where life has taken them lately, and what their plans and goals are for the future.  Getcha pull and give a listen. "Avoid the Light" appears on the soundtrack for Dracula 2000 and later on the anniversary edition of Reinventing the Steel.  "A New Level" appears on the album Vulgar Display of Power, and "Revolution is My Name" appears on the album Reinventing the Steel.  All songs by Pantera.

Wednesday was the release of Try Not to Die: At Dethfest. It's my 18th book, but means a lot because heavy metal has been such a huge part of my life. One of the coolest parts about the book is that it includes Jose Mangin, a DJ from Sirius XM's Liquid Metal/Octane. He agreed to let us include him and as a thank you we've donated to his Headbang for Science charity and include a link for it at the back of the book. The other cool thing is that we published this book at all. It was 9 years in the making with mental health struggles and life getting in the way. We persevered and are proud of what it's now turning into with Dethfest Confessions. Despite all the excitement over the book, I went back to my old ways and had to deal with some negative emotions. Instead of caving to them, like I've done on other launches, I threw myself into jiu jitsu to get me refocused. Not only did I manage to get some marketing done but I'm also excited to be competing this Saturday at NAGA. I narrate the first death scene from Try Not to Die: At Dethfest followed by the next chapter. Grab your copy of Dethfest on Amazon: https://geni.us/Dethfest

We welcome guitarist Chase Wilson, guitarist of rising deathcore outfit, Ov Sulfur onto IUF. Ov Sulfur have been making waves in the last year or so, from touring alongside other acts such as Lorna Shore and As I Lay Dying, and the talk of the town has been about the innovative musicianship of this Las Vegas-based quartet. Chase talks to us about the origins of the band which lead up to the highly-anticipated debut album drop. The new album, “The Burden Ov Faith” has taken the sound of deathcore around a new corner, which has been catching the eye of many die-hards as well as bringing in newcomers. Some bands can have a tough time finding the right groove early in their career, but Ov Sulfur has had no issue establishing their signature sound. We ask Chase about the writing process that has elevated his play, and while the bar is set high, he is looking forward to expanding his musicality even further. And lastly, we ask him about the band's experience of being endorsed by the Metal Ambassador himself, Jose Mangin, during their killer set at the “Headbang For Science” show. Pantera brothers Vinnie Paul and Darrell “Dimebag” Abbott loved riding in limos so they got one of their own! Vinnie used it extensively after Dime's death, and when Vinnie Paul passed in 2018, the limo was given to longtime, diehard Pantera fan and SiriusXM Octane host, Jose Mangin! Jose explains how he found about the generous gift, what it took to get the limo from Texas to Southern California with almost no notice, and how he went about getting the limo fully restored! Jose spared no expense when it came to the restoration and added some amazing tributes to the Abbott brothers in the limo's interior along with a very cool salute to the fans who contributed to the GoFundMe to help raise money for the process. Jose walks us through the year-plus long journey to get the limo restored and running again, and shares the feedback he got from Dime's widow, Rita, and the rest of the Pantera family. Sirius XM host and "metal entrepreneur" Jose Mangin sits down with Scott this week to discuss his life's journey as a metal fan. Going back to his discovery of Motley Crue in kindergarten, Jose has been on a lifelong metal journey. In this conversation, Jose discusses his metal roots including an early concert experience seeing Iron Maiden and Anthrax in Arizona. From there he became the "metal influencer" of his group of peers. This would lead him to college radio at the University of Arizona. From there, he wound up in Memphis as a graduate student and deejay on a commercial station. Jose then describes the steps and circumstances that led him to New York and, ultimately, a job on satellite radio. His tenure at Sirius began in 2000; basically the beginning of satellite radio. In this conversation, Jose reflects on the early struggles with the company and how things shifted dramatically with the arrival of Howard Stern to the medium. He also discusses the channels for that station that he's run including Ozzy's Boneyard, Liquid Metal/Hard Attack, and Octane among others. Other cool topics include Jose introducing legendary bands such as Metallica, bringing people together, dealing with haters, and much more!We hope you enjoy Scott's chat with Jose Mangin and SHARE with a friend!

This week marks an anniversary that is anything but something to celebrate. That said, we pay tribute to a true metal icon and, more importantly, an amazing human being.   Aaron and Chris return this week to pay tribute to the memory of Dimebag Darrell. The iconic guitarist was murdered onstage 10 years ago this week. Since then, a series of bike rides for charity have sprung up all over the United States. We had rock photographer and friend of Darrell's, Chad Lee, on the show as he was gearing up for the Nashville chapter event in September. Chris attended the ride and documented the process while later being joined by Aaron for the knockout metal concert.    In this Dimebag tribute special, you'll hear first-hand how the day unfolded for Nashville's Ride for Dime event; from the bar-b-que before the ride and party that includes chats with Chad Lee, Steve Bumpus of Bumpus Harley Davidson (hosts for the event), Nancy Sayle (Rock for MS), and guitarist Nick Bowcott (Grim Reaper). The episode moves into the evening and features backstage talks with Sirius/XM deejay Jose Mangin as well as a lengthy talk with former Black Label Society guitarist Nick Catanese. It's a fly-on-the-wall perspective of a day that saw thousands of people coming together to help out charities and remember a metal legend and amazing person. During last week's edition of the Metal Injection Livecast we got a surprise phone call from one of our good friends, Jose Mangin of Sirius/XM. Jose, of course, has been doing a bit of hosting on Headbangers Ball so the conversation naturally went in that direction with us asking what his status is. What Jose said has spurred a ton of stories online (first reported at SMN, followed up at MetalInsider and then on MetalSucks). With all the rumors going around, we figured we would take the convo and extract all the talk about Headbangers Ball, so all of you who missed the Livecast can hear the below. Jose talks about the proposed new format and when we could see it start to happen. Note that we edited out some of the conversation in between the segments to just focus everything on the talk about the new show. As we mentioned above, MetalInsider talked to Jose and he "he denies any official full-time launch of the show or his place in it" later adding "He does promise that some plans are in the works for “Headbangers Ball” in 2010, in some incarnation." Don't miss an all new edition of the Livecast, tomorrow night at 10pm Eastern time right here and always available for download on our iTunes page.
