Interview by Kris PetersBrisbane groove metal outfit Awaken The Hate are a band in transition. Transition within themselves, their membership, their direction and their sound. But one thing they are not, at least internally, is a band in conflict. Far from it.As a band, their vision for the future is clearer than ever, their goals resolute. For Awaken The Hate, the future is now, and is coming off the back of a trilogy of singles dubbed Death. War. Fire that was recently completed with the release of the third and final single, Planet Death. Each of the three songs, started by Reign Of Fire before Contradiction Of War seconded the trilogy and Planet Death rounded things out, portrays a subtle changing of musical landscape for Awaken The Hate and casts an ominous eye into what the future holds for those who dare to follow.Concluding this ambitious new movement for the band, Awaken The Hate next week take the new tracks on the road for their first full national tour, starting in Perth on May 8 before hitting Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney over consecutive days. Welcome to Awaken The Hate, and board the train if you have the mettle.HEAVY was joined earlier today by frontman Benno and drummer Ryan to dive deeper into the Death. War. Fire trilogy and what it means for Awaken The Hate moving forward."Steve, who started Awaken The Hate, made the decision at the end of last year to step away," Benno began. "That was all for his personal reasons. These were the last of the three songs that he wrote with the band, and we thought this would be a fitting way to say goodbye. He actually came back to record them with us. He's still a very good friend of the band, and the door's always open if he ever wants to come back.""Planet Death is environmental, Contradiction of War is very political, and then Reign of Fire is a bit more spiritual about the whole thing," he continued, focusing on the three songs. "So that's what the concept about it was, and then releasing them as a trilogy was to say thanks to Steve and also finally get a bit more than two tracks out there for people (laughs)."In the full interview, we focused more on their recent single releases, particularly Planet Death, which received positive feedback from band members. We discussed the trilogy of singles honouring former member Steve, with each song addressing different themes. Reign of Fire was highlighted for its unique inspiration and straightforward approach, while Contradiction of War, released on Anzac Day, aimed to honour veterans and provoke thought about military service. We talked about recording thir latest tracks live, enhancing the emotional resonance, and are eager to test new material during their upcoming national tour. We also chat about balancing their music careers with personal responsibilities while engaging audiences and supporting local acts, plus more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.
Interview by Kris PetersThe Murdering roared back to life in June last year, releasing the track Finality and breaking an eight-year drought that saw the band release nothing since their 2016 EP From Hell. While many bands had come and gone over that period, if you were a fan of the heavier side of metal, then you still remembered The Murdering. After establishing a loyal, rabid fan base due largely to From Hell and the ferocity of their live shows, The Murdering fell off the proverbial radar for the best part of ten years. Not broken up. Not disbanded. Just simply not playing or actively recording. While to many of us they are all the same thing, not so for the members of The Murdering knew their day in the flames would come once more, if not when exactly, but the seeds of melancholy had been planted far too deep for there not to be a continuation of some sort.Finality reignited the hunger and set The Murdering on a collision path with a collection of songs based around the crimes and passion of a serial killer under the guise of Death Process, a five-part tale of death and decay to be released sometime this year.Having already released the devastatingly brutal Daemon Eater, The Murdering have decided to brush off the remaining cobwebs and set this year's Necrosonic Festival on August 23 at Brisbane's Mansfield Tavern as the day the music world once more bows down to the masters of death.HEAVY sat down with vocalist Joel for a chat about the re-emergence of The Murdering and their first live show in nine years at Necrosonic Festival."It's a killer lineup so far," he smiled. "Obviously, there's a second wave to come out for it as well, and I think people are going to be pretty psyched when they see who's on that second announcement."With a handful of bands playing at Necrosonic - including Beanflipper, DaysEnd and Brace - being metaphorically brought back from the dead, we ask Joel if The Murdering fall into the category of one of the undead after so long away from the scene."I wouldn't say we're back from the dead," he laughed. "It was more just a very long continuation of what we were doing before we stopped doing it, I guess. I haven't even really thought of it that way, to be honest with you (laughs). We're just happy to be on the bill. Like I say, we haven't played a live show in a very long time, and we've got some really good material coming out at the moment. We've not got any expectations on anything. It's just going to be a day to have a good time and just knock the dust off."In the full interview, Joel emphasized the importance of music loving promoters like Kent Bartley (organizer of Necrosonic) in fostering connections within the music community, highlighting the flow on benefits for heavy metal bands and music in this country. He expressed enthusiasm for the festival and shared insights about their upcoming EP, Death Process, which features a narrative centred on a fictional serial killer and aims to create a cohesive audio-visual experience. We spoke about The Murdering's recent collaboration with The Amenta, what fans can expect from their live show, future plans for the band and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Interview by Kris PetersTwo decades into any career and you would be forgiven for starting to grow stale or formulaic. Be it an office job, labouring, or even in the music industry, the old saying familiarity breeds contempt holds firm. But try telling that to Scottish metal outfit Bleed From Within who, after 20 years in the music scene, have reached their peak - their Zenith, if you will. The Glasgow firebrands are one of the hardest working acts in metal: playing shows globally with everyone from Megadeth to Slipknot, all while writing and regularly releasing monstrous, exhilarating songs. The upward journey reaches new heights on their seventh album, Zenith, which contains the band's heaviest, catchiest and most intrepid music to date. The band's first two albums, Humanity (2009) and Empire (2010), made Bleed From Within cult figureheads in the deathcore scene, before Uprising (2013) broadened their palate with groove metal adrenaline and melodic death metal prowess. It also marked their major-label debut, catapulting them onto tours with heavy royalty. In 2018, the band returned with the ferocious Era. Then, follow-ups Fracture (2020) and Shrine (2022) proved their greatest triumphs to date, intertwining vocalist Scott Kennedy's snarls with Steven Jones' majestic singing. The millions of streams gathered by such singles as The End of All We Know, Into Nothing and Levitate proved Bleed had become the next big thing. Now, on Zenith – announced ahead of career-affirming tours with Slipknot, Trivium and Bullet for My Valentine – the quintet are primed to leap into superstardom.HEAVY spoke with frontman Scott Kennedy to go deeper into Zenith."It feels like we've been waiting so long to drop this album," he sighed. "So, I'm buzzing for it to finally get out. I think it's the best collection of songs we've ever done and I'm desperate for people to hear it."We ask Kennedy to talk us through what Bleed From Within were going for musically with Zenith."To be honest, with Bleed From Within there's never really any concepts or anything like that," he replied. "It's more just about - for me personally - the songs are always about what I'm going through at that point in my life. I always try to write from the heart and write songs that are really meaningful because I don't want to go on stage and sing a song that doesn't really mean anything to me. I don't just want to go on and sing any old shit to the crowd. With Bleeding From Within it's just always about writing the best collection of metal songs that we possibly can, and I truthfully believe that this is the best collection of metal songs we've ever written."In the full interview, Scott discussed Zenith further, expressing his excitement about what he considers their best work to date. He highlighted the opening track Violent Nature for its heavy and fast nature, and elaborated on the collaborative songwriting process among band members, emphasizing a natural evolution in their music.Scott also mentioned Bleed From Within's experimentation with various musical elements, including strings and guest vocalists, to achieve a distinctive sound. The discussion wrapped up with a mention of upcoming tour plans and festivals following the album's release.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.
Interview by Kris PetersSince releasing their acclaimed debut album Tū (2018), New Zealand metal warriors Alien Weaponry have been lauded for their kinetic presence and sound, as well as their vital blend of culturally profound lyricism in both English and te reo Māori, the indigenous language of New Zealand.Still in their teens when that album took the world by storm and with the sudden burden of expectation thrust upon their shoulders, Alien Weaponry bunkered down, surrounding themselves with family and away from the clutches of industry people potentially looking to exploit both their talent and youth. It proved a masterstroke, with the young band following up with Tangaroa (2021) and earned them the title of 'the future of heavy metal' by Metal Hammer and led to tours around the world with the likes of Guns N' Roses, Gojira, Slayer and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. But, they say, a band's third album is the most defining one of their career and that moment has come with the impending release of Te Rā (March 28).Described as their heaviest, most powerful and mature offering to date, Alien Weaponry feel like they have returned with a point to prove. HEAVY caught up with the newest member of the band, bass player Tūranga Morgan-Edmonds, to find out more."I think we were definitely nervous going into the first single," he began when asked how the band are feeling about the album finally seeing the light of day. "I think the single probably had a lot more nerves surrounding it than the album itself. Because, you know, it's a new stage in the band's evolution and sound. And it's the first time I've been a part of the writing and recording process. And particularly because the first single was a song that I had written myself (laughs). So I was sort of like, Oh, God, what if people don't like it? That's my creative input that people don't like. But then of course the song came out and the response has been awesome. Now as we slowly trickle into the album release tomorrow there's been two more singles come out and people seem to love those as well."Talk turns to the music side of Te Rā and what sound they were trying to achieve."We took a step back," he measured. "Obviously, the first album was such a force onto the scene and left a strong impression on a lot of people when that came out in 2018. And the second album didn't quite land where they had wanted to. And when we went to the third album, we were sort of like, OK, what is it that we want to achieve? Are we trying to create a new sound entirely? Are we trying to create something familiar? And so what we decided on was trying to actually find a balance between the highlights of both albums, even the second one. So the second one, what people liked, of course, was the sort of move towards a more technical approach, so maybe more complication in the riffs and the writing structures. And then also a lot of people quite liked the much more traditional sounding Māori vocals, not just singing in another language, but singing in the style of that language, if that makes sense."In the full interview, Turanga further introduced the band's upcoming third album, Te Ra, highlighting the blend of genres and the incorporation of Te Reo Māori to maintain cultural authenticity. He shared his excitement about collaborating with Randy Blythe from Lamb of God, who contributed vocals to a track after their connection on Instagram, emphasizing the influence of Lamb of God on their music. Tu reflected on the band's growth from newcomers to respected figures in the metal scene, acknowledging the challenges of touring post-pandemic.He expressed optimism for a more extensive touring schedule following the album's release, with management actively working on overseas plans, went back to when he joined Alien Weaponry and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.
Interview by Kris PetersCanadian metal outfit Kittie returned with a vengeance recently after a 13-year hiatus.Crashing onto the scene in 1999 with their debut album Spit, Kittie evolved far beyond their nu-metal origins, developing a crushing, full-fledged metal sound across six albums. They were a mainstay on the scene until taking a layoff which was to last over a decade. After their prolonged absence, Kittie came storming back this year with new album, Fire, a record that fuses every element of their past work into something even more volatile, proving they've lost none of their venom.Having not toured Australia since 2012, Kittie's return is nothing short of a metal revival. Expect a crash course in their discography that goes far beyond their nu-metal beginnings. From the venomous angst of Spit and the moshpit slam of Brackish to the progressive groove of What I Always Wanted and the hypnotic swagger of In Winter through to powerfully catchy new tracks like Vultures and One Foot in the Grave, Kittie's set will be an intense journey through their evolution, one that old fans will savour, and new fans won't forget. For over a quarter of a century, Kittie have defied stereotypes and broken barriers for women in metal, inspiring legions of fans and artists across the globe. Their comeback to Australian shores will be a hero's welcome for long time fans and an initiation for those just discovering their ferocity.HEAVY sat down for a chat with vocalist/guitarist Morgan Lander, starting with what we can expect from their live show."Oh gosh," she smiled. "Well… we've always prided ourselves in being just kind of like a straight-up metal band. I know a lot of bands use a lot of different things these days - technologies and things like that - but we've always been a band that just gets up there, four girls having a great time, just rocking out. A lot of fan interaction. A lot of screaming, and it's gonna be real loud (laughs). We just love what we do and have a great time. It's a fun show. It's a little bit angry, but that's metal, right?"In the full interview, Morgan tells us what has changed with the band since they were last out here, touring with Jinjer, three songs to get to know Kittie better, their return album Fire and how it was received, the pressures associated with their first album in 13 years, the early days of Kittie and where they fit in and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Interview by Angela CroudaceFor over a decade Carbon Black have been steadily making their mark in the Australian groove metal scene. With a reputation for hard-hitting, groove-laden riffs and an undeniable stage presence, the Wollongong-based band has persevered through line-up changes, tough times, and the ever-evolving music industry.Lead vocalist Jon Hurley reflects on the band's journey, their upcoming re-release of the EP Principium 2.0, and recent collaborations with some of metal's heavyweights, including Tim 'Ripper' Owens of Judas Priest."We've been going for a little over 10 years now," Hurley says, a mix of disbelief and pride in his voice. "It's funny to look back and think about how we started, and everything we've done to get to this point."The band's latest release, Principium 2.0, is a refreshed and revitalised version of their original EP. Hurley and the band saw it as the perfect opportunity to revisit the early material that helped put them on the map. "When we first started, we didn't have many songs, and we definitely didn't have a stable line-up," he explains. "We rushed things out—wrote 40 minutes of material in a matter of weeks. And while we were proud of what we did, we knew that there was more we could bring to the table."The stable line-up that has been integral to the band's recent successes consists of Hurley (vocals), Rob Giles (bass), Damon Bishop (guitar), and Steve Giles (drums), who joined six years ago. This line-up shift, notably the addition of Steve, was a game-changer for the band. "It took us a while to find a stable drummer," Hurley admits. "But now, with Steve, we've been able to really inject some personality into our old tracks and make them something special."The refreshed Principium marks a musical evolution for Carbon Black and celebrates their perseverance as a band. "It's a celebration of 10 years of hard work," Hurley says. "We've been through a lot, and we're still standing strong. This is just the beginning for us."Alongside the re-release of Principium, Carbon Black has also gained recognition for its collaboration with Tim "Ripper" Owens. The band teamed up with the former Judas Priest and Iced Earth vocalist for a guest feature on one of their tracks, Under Order, during the pandemic. "It was a stroke of luck," Hurley explains. "We were trying to figure out how to make a splash with our new album, and Rob came across the opportunity to work with Ripper. It felt like the perfect fit."Owens' contribution to the track added a new dynamic to the band's sound, blending their groove metal roots with his renowned vocal power. "He was incredibly professional," Hurley recalls. "He sent us three different takes, and we ended up picking the one that felt the most natural. It worked out perfectly."Looking back on the band's rise, Hurley notes that their growth has come with challenges. "In the Australian music scene, especially in heavy metal, there are thousands of bands fighting for attention," he says. "But we've managed to stay relevant because of our hard work, stage presence, and the connections we've made along the way. We're lucky, but we're also really driven."As the band prepares to hit the road once again, Hurley is excited to bring the new material to fans. "We're definitely planning to perform Principium in full on tour, along with some older tracks," he shares. "It's going to be a celebration of everything we've done, and we can't wait to see our fans again."For fans looking to get their hands on the physical release of Principium 2.0, Hurley recommends checking out their Bandcamp page. "We always have limited edition merch and hard copies available at shows," he says. "We've got everything from T-shirts to coasters, and even undies. It's all about giving our fans something special."Reflecting on Carbon Black's journey, Hurley sums it up with a mixture of gratitude and determination. "What does Carbon Black mean to me? It's everything. It's a way of life. It's a family, and it's the best thing I've ever been a part of. We've worked hard, and we're not stopping anytime soon."Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.
It was a pleasure to welcome Jim Knights (Guitars) & Chris Taylor (Vocals) of Manchester based The Leviathan onto the show for the first time. The Leviathan, who play extreme based metal with a healthy dose of doom infused groove, released the well received 'In Darkness It Crawls' on August 22, 2013 and then went on a hiatus for a couple of years. Members moved on to different projects and some dropped entirely out the scene. Jim however kept the fire lit throughout and finally the band returned with three killer singles in three months this year. More so a project that a functioning band at the moment, Jim got Chris of Cairns to do vocals and Darren of Haint to do bass/vocals on the new releases. We run through the story of The Leviathan from the very beginning, where Chris and Jim met in university, right up to recording together this year. The lads have plenty of great insights and stories from their various bands and there's even a Christmas cover song to discover. Hope you enjoy the episode and 'SUBSCRIBE' to the channel. This is more specific to metal in the 90s after feeling the impact of the overwhelming shifting of sounds during the decade. Interview by Kris PetersMortality changed the landscape of Australian heavy metal when they burst onto the local scene back in 1992.Powered by an aggressive blending of thrash, death and groove metal, the band quickly established themselves as not just a musical force, but also a devastating and brutal live act that bludgeoned every aural sense possible. The world was theirs for the taking, with their 1997 album Structure gaining universal acclaim and paving the way for international dominance. But, unfortunately, just six months later Mortality went on hiatus, unsure if or when they would return to the fold. After a one-off sold-out show at the Empire Hotel, the band returned to the darkness once more, leaving a multitude of fans and lovers of metal in general demanding - but not necessarily receiving - more. While COVID ravaged the planet, it also provided the catalyst for a rebirth of Mortality and, as whispers slowly gave way to thunder, it became evident that the Metal Gods had intervened and renewed the spark in the Sydney metal outfit.2024 is the official return of Mortality, with the band set to play a leading role in Necrosonic Festival at Brisbane's Mansfield Tavern on August 31 alongside Psycroptic, Crypt, Lo!, Misery, Bulletbelt and more.HEAVY caught up with bass player Luke Ford to find out more. We start by asking if the nerves have kicked in for Necrosonic yet."We're ready," he shot back. "We've been rehearsing for close to a year, so it's good to get out of our room (laughs) and actually see people respond to what it is that we're doing. You never really know. We thought it was good. We thought we were doing well. But until you get in front of a crowd, and you've got all the usual elements that can impact it, you don't really know. Everyone's been doing music a long time and played in various bands over the years, so it was good when we did play last week to get the reaction that we were hoping for. Not really apprehensive, more just ready to destroy, to be honest."In the full interview, Luke talks more about Necrosonic Festival and the importance such gigs have on the Australian music scene, what bands he is looking forward to catching up with, the early days of Mortality, where their sound came from, their attitude towards self-promotion and getting their name out there, the changing landscape of music that saw them shift tides leading into the 1997 album Structure, their disbandment 6 months after that album and what led to the decision, the decision to reform Mortality and how it came about, writing new music, their first live show back last weekend, future plans and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Interview by Kris PetersIn the modern age of short attention spans, it is refreshing to see some bands still operating by the tried and true laws of yesteryear when it comes to releasing music. With EP's and singles all the rage, Perth metal outfit All This Filth elected to take their time with their recently released album Tomorrow Will Be Better?, dropping the first single Still Bleeds My Heart in late 2022 and drip-feeding more tunes until the album saw the light of day on February 9 this year.To simply class All This Filth as metal would be short-changing them significantly. Drawing on everything from Groove Metal, Thrash, Hardcore, Death Metal, Industrial Metal and even hints of Sludge and Nu-Metal, the Perth outfit deftly wind them all together to produce a sound fresh, vibrant and heavy as Hell.Released on the band's new US label Brutal Records, Tomorrow Will Be Better? is a coming of age of sorts for All This Filth, cementing them amongst the next wave of Australian metal bands and opening up a plethora of new opportunities for the band.HEAVY caught up with vocalist Brendan Preston and bass/keyboardist Benny Bones to find out more, starting with the album's reception."It's going well so far," Preston smiled. "We've had a lot of good feedback, like the reviews have been generally positive and all the fans I've spoken to and all the messages I've got from the band's social media have been good so far. All the media that we've been speaking to have seemed to enjoy the songs as well. I was on Andrew Haug on Monday night, and he was saying it's a definite step-up for us and that he was proud of us, which was really cool praise. So far, so good. The feedback has been unanimously good."We ask the boys to tell us more about the album musically."Musically, we just really wanted to step it up from the last album, Misery Season," Preston began. "Sort of just expand the boundaries of what we were doing. We wanted to be more aggressive, more fast, more groovy, add more keys and synths - which is more Benny's department - and really just test ourselves and push ourselves and see what we could do musically."In the full interview, Brendan and Benny talk more about Tomorrow Will Be Better?, how it picks up thematically from last album Misery Season, how they pushed the boundaries, the overall message of the album, the new members and what they bring to the band's sound, signing with Brutal Records and what that opens up for the band, how their sound has grown over the course of their releases, finding the balance between so many genres and more.
Female February wraps up... wait, there's one more episode? But it'll be March! Oh, whatever. Female February continues with the... EP(?) An Eye For an Eye by California's Butcher Babies.
Interview by Kris PetersAfter laying a solid platform last year with their debut EP Vol 1: Superdead metal outfit Suffer The Evenue have spent the last 12 months planning and refining the follow-up to best showcase their musical prowess.By harvesting the essence from their first release, Suffer The Evenue felt more comfortable following their creative instincts on this one, which in turn allowed the band greater flexibility to integrate more sounds and influences into their work. The South Australian groove metal/hardcore hybrid are premiering their latest track A New Empire through HEAVY this Friday, March 1 at 5pm AEST, with everything mentioned above and more packed into the track which envelops more grove and touches of funk over a foreboding and heavy as fuck metal underbelly.A New Empire is the lead single taken from Suffer The Evenue's new EP Vol 2: Superdeader which will be unleashed on April 12.HEAVY caught up once more with vocalist Nick and guitarist Dom to talk about the single and EP.We start by asking how they are feeling after approaching the new EP release with the wisdom gained from the first offering."I feel like our approach has been different," Dom began. "We learned a lot from the first run and now the second one I think the songs have definitely taken a step-up. Our writing has definitely taken a step-up, and we're definitely coming together more as a group. It's not just… like all of us were showing our skills in the first one, but this one's more of a controlled group effort, which has been a good way to write."We press the boys on the musical direction of A New Empire and what they were going for with it."Probably a bit of a journey," Dom measured. "There's influences not just in music, but outside of the music as well. It's got a bit of a horror theme vibe to it and I think when the film clip drops it will all make a bit of sense. It's definitely very influenced by a lot of different genres outside of our music, but I enjoyed the journey of the whole song. It starts somewhere and has the start, middle, and end.""When we were thrashing this one out for the first time and piecing it together, I was a spectator to start off with," Nick added. "As a spectator I noticed the other guys were all on the same page when working on a song from point A we got to a certain point in the song and everyone said nah, we have to change this song now, and we're gonna do something particular. They were all on the same page straight away and it was awesome. What they came up with was just… it hit right, felt right, and it was smooth."In the full interview, Dom and Nick talk about some of the more experimental aspects of A New Empire, why it was chosen as the lead single, the similarity between the two EPs, how they differ from each other musically, run through each of the four tracks on Vol 2: Superdeader, explain the thought process of each song, plans for the rest of 2024 and more.HEAVY would like to thank our sponsor RODE. Intro music taken from Brown Snake, the second single release from Dreamkillers new album, which will be out later this year. The song is premiered on March 14 via HEAVY.
Interview by Kris PetersLike a wrecking ball let off the chain, recently formed Brisbane metal outfit Awaken The Hate are set to steamroll the local metal scene when they release their debut single Monster In The Mirror this Friday.Coming together with a wealth of experience already in the metal scene, Awaken The Hate aren't here to merely make up the numbers. They are here to lead the pack.As the band's bio so beautifully puts it, "Awaken The Hate draws inspiration from the darker realms of the human psyche, exploring themes of societal decay, existential dread, and the unspoken fury that simmers beneath the surface. Their lyrics reflect the collective discontent of a generation, while their sonic onslaught leaves no soul untouched."And while we all know how easy it is to simply talk the talk, anyone who has seen one of only a handful of live shows from Awaken The Hate will testify just how solid talk can be when you have the fortitude to back it up.The Monster In The Mirror threatens to be merely an opening salvo from a band who have been brought up the old-school metal way and now ply their craft in the same manner. Fresh, original, brutal and uncompromising, Awaken The Hate promise to be a breath of fresh air on the metal scene, and after spending some time speaking with guitarist Steve Conley and vocalist Ben Rogers recently that seems to be only a formality."We're all of that element where groove metal - the Pantera's and that sort of 90s stuff - was where our bread and butter was," Rogers began. "I think what we've really found with Awaken The Hate is trying to modernise that a bit. Music to me has got groove. It makes you wanna move, and I like to think that there's also the melodies and the vox there have got a bit of a hook to it that makes you wanna sing along. That was our goal. I wanna play in front of people that wanna sing songs back to us and bang their heads hard."In the full interview, Benno and Steve talk more about the debut single, what it's about, finding emotion and expression through honesty in lyrics, why they chose this particular song to introduce Awaken The Hate to the world, how accurately this song represents the future direction of the band, the importance of nailing live shows, upcoming gigs, future plans and more.

Electric artists have been playing acoustically since the beginning of recorded music. Usually, the slower ballads and the prettier mellow songs by rock artists were accompanied by acoustic guitars. This week we are celebrating bands that can re-imagine their songs with acoustic instruments and still rock! We are pulling the plug… and gasping for air guitars! What's this InObscuria thing? We're a podcast that exhumes obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal and puts them in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. This week we discuss the FORGOTTEN. Mtv started a series in 1989 called “unplugged”, and almost every mainstream relevant act started producing acoustic albums or versions of their songs. This week we listen to some artist that you may have never considered as having acoustic interpretations of their songs.Songs this week include:Classless Act – “All That We Are” from Welcome To The Acoustic Show - EP (2022)Minus The Bear – “Knights” from Acoustics (2008)The Pretty Reckless – “Only Love Can Save Me Now” from Other Worlds (2022) Backyard Babies – “Th1rt3en Or Nothing” from Silver & Gold (2019)Flyleaf – “Fully Alive” from Flyleaf (2005)Machine Head – “Darkness Within” from Unto The Locust (2011)Sway – “Stood” from Kawfee Talk (1998)Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://twitter.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!: https://www.redbubble.com/people/inobscuria/og-shopCheck out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/If you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/

“It wouldn't pain me more to bury you rich than to bury you poor…” One of the quintessential principles of the Bunkerpoon creed is to arrive at a philosophically logical conclusion regarding any and all things metal, regardless of genre or subgenre. To put it plainly: “there's Thrash, and then there's Metal.” Similarly, there's ALT METAL, and then there's NU METAL (“ALT…and NU.”) You're gonna wanna break out your extended-release relaxers and get ready for a “triple uncorking” before leaving the peace and tranquility of your comfort zone and becoming completely boxless & genreless.
