"We thought: WE'VE GOT A FAN IN AMERICA! But we didn't think that he had a very American sounding name: Lars Ulrich."Den unge Lars Ulrich blev så förtjust i Diamond Head att han reste till England för att se dem live. Brian Tatler on legendaarinen hevikitaristi ja biisintekijä bändistä Diamond Head. Hänen vaikutuksensa mm. Metallicaan ja Megadethiin on valtaisa. Nykyään Brian on myös Saxonin jäsen. Sami Ruokangas haastatteli Briania Saxonin uudesta albumista Hell, Fire and Damnation, sekä tämänvuotisesta kiertueesta klassikkobändin riveissä. Out The Lights"/ (cara B "Helpless"). Acto seguido lanzaron su primer álbum, Lightning To The Nations. El álbum contenía 7 temas, incluyendo los clásicos "Am I Evil?", "The Prince" y "Sucking My Love". El siguiente sencillo de la banda se llamó "Sweet and Innocent", con temas que ya aparecían en Lightning To The Nations, y que incluía un nuevo título en la cara reversa: "Streets of Gold". A continuación publicaron The Diamond Lights 12, un EP con temas ya conocidos como "It's Electric" y otros tres nuevos, "We Won't Be Back", "The Diamond Light" y "I Don't Got". Después, en 1981, la banda firmó con el sello MCA, bajo auspicios se lanzó el EP Four Cuts que contenía temas como "Call Me", "Trick or Treat", "Dead Reckoning" y una nueva versión de "Shoot Out The Lights". Más tarde llega un nuevo single, "In The Heat of The Night", poco antes de ser publicado su segundo álbum, Borrowed Time. En 1992 editaban el álbum en directo The Friday Night Rock Show Sesions/ Live at Reading. Finalmente publicaron su sexto álbum, What's In Your Head?, en 2007. Pagina Oficial: https://www.diamondheadofficial.com/

As one of the most eclectic and popular British metal bands and pioneers of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, Judas Priest and their vocal powerhouse frontman Rob Halford will forever be one of the greats. In this episode, the first of a two episode arc, host Jon Wiederhorn discusses the beginnings of Judas Priest with a strong focus on Rob Halford. As a closeted gay man in a heterosexual music world, Halford spent a good portion of his days with the band feeling isolated. Even still, his lyrics and piercing vocals paved the way for future musicians to lean into the aggressive nature of metal music. With exclusive interviews with members of Judas Priest, Diamond Head, Life of Agony, and more, listen to them talk about their experiences with Halford and his many influences on metal.  FROM THIS EPISODE: Judas Priest lead vocalist Rob Halford talks about not being able to recieve sexual intimacy when he was closeted. He also shares the emotional turmoil he endured after being sexually abused as a child and how “Raw Deal” was the only Judas Priest song that truly referenced his homosexuality. Hear Judas Priest bassist Ian Hill talk about the band knowing Rob Halford was gay but waiting until he was ready to come out. Diamond Head guitarist Brian Tatler describes the influence Judas Priest has on his music. Lead vocalist of Pantera Phil Anselmo goes into detail describing what makes Rob Halford such a powerful vocalist. Life of Agony's lead vocalist Mina Caputo explains how the system didn't allow people to reach their full potential and be true to their nature. Listen to Judas Priest lead guitarist Glenn Tipton recount a story of a prank gone wrong with a group of Hell's Angels. Today's episode is all about a band that played a key role in the history of the origins of 80s Heavy Metal. It's the band that probably influenced Metallica the most in their early garage days: Today we're talking about DIAMOND HEAD! Their debut album "Lightning To The Nations" has just been re-recorded and released with the current line-up on the occasion of its 40th birthday. In itself, that doesn't sound that spectacular, especially since various re-releases of the original album are on the market. But what Brian Tatler and his brilliant current singer Rasmus Bom Andersen, who also produced the album at the same time, conjured up from these legendary riffs knocked me out of my boots. But we're just three clueless assholes born in the late 80s so our boy IAN steps in at the 30 minute mark to interview Brian Tatler of Diamond Head! The guitarist and founding member of Diamond Head talks about the re-recording of Lightning to the Nations including their cover of Metallica's No Remorse. (If you're too young to understand, Metallica owes a bit of their early success to Diamond Head). The two talk about the original recording, DIY'ing in 1980, and the evolution of the band's style as they tried to make sense of a senseless industry. Brian talks about the band's late-career surge and DIY'ing here in 2020. It's a delightful interview and you all ought to tune in right now. The Enter Sadmen podcast is all about reviewing, rating and ranking the good, bad and the ugly of hard rock and heavy metal to create the ultimate hall of fame. But it's always nice to get the perspective of the people who were there at the time - either making the music or contributing to the process of making it.   Not only that, but we ask them to tell us their top 10 albums of all time - and then get them to decide which 3 albums we review, rate and rank in the following edition of the show. In the first of an occasional series of podcasts we had the privilege of sitting down with Brian Tatler - the founding member, songwriter and lead guitarist with the legendary Diamond Head. What followed was a discussion of recording, touring, lessons learned ... and the bifggest question of them all: had he ever cocked up that iconic six-note harmonic that ushers in the thundering riff of Am I Evil? ...

The NWOBHM movement is an often-overlooked period of time in Hard Rock & Heavy Metal history but one of the most important. In terms of sound, it was very primitive however, it was the first-moment the influences of Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, & Deep Purple had a direct impact on the music bands were producing across the U.K. Brian Tatler, lead guitar player from the influential band Diamond Head and I discuss what it was like during this movement as well as the upcoming year for the legendary band. », « Helpless » et « The Prince ».

Episode Description: Steven speaks with founding guitarist Brian Tatler of the band Diamond Head about the bands history and the recording of their upcoming album . On May 24th Diamond Head will release their 8th studio album "The Coffin Train". What’s The Story: I first got into Diamond Head after hearing "Am I Evil" on the B-Side of a Metallica picture disc and I was hooked. I went out and picked up everything I could. If they were good enough to get into Kerrang, and be part of the NWOBHM sound then they must be great. The band was formed in 1976 under the riff-rolling leadership of guitarist Brian Tatler. DIAMOND HEAD would quickly establish themselves as a vanguard of the exploding New Wave Of British Heavy Metal scene. Their genre-defining debut album Lightning To The Nations, influenced and opened gates for many of the metal bands I grew up loving. The Coffin Train, DIAMOND HEAD's eighth studio album, is a glorious testimony to Brian Tatler and Rasmus Bom Andersens' masterful ability to create the flavors necessary for prime DIAMOND HEAD music. The record was recorded in several different places. Guitars, bass, and vocals at Vigo Studios in Walsall and drums at Circle Studios in Birmingham. The album was produced and mixed at Ras' Raw Sound Studio in London. Welcome to Rock Dudes #84, a new international episode and the guest this is the almighty BRIAN TATLER from Diamond Head. Jonas sat down with him at the Warner office the other day and talked with Brian about touring life, how the band started, a lot of what Metallica playing songs have meant for him and the band. Diamond Head will release their new album, COFFIN TRAIN in May 2019. It is the first album the singer Rasmus has joined the writing forces. From my perspective, this is by far the heaviest album Diamond Head has released so far. If you want to listen to it search it up on Spotify or order the album. Brian Tatler was growing up in a small town 30 minutes outside Birmingham. And he started the band at the early age of 16. His biggest influence was Ritchie Blackmore from Black Sabbath. It took a while before they hit the album charts, but during the first half of the 80’s, they had their peak, and after that the band had a lot of road bumps. He will talk about the whole journey from the 80’s until today, really interesting I would say.
