It's no secret that we started our relationship in a bad place. Together, we worked and learned our way from a painful, confused state to a conscious, growth-oriented, and gentle love. We transformed that messy, painful relationship by taking a page (several thousand pages, actually) from the world of kink. Kinksters regularly talk about power exchange--we think everyone should. Every single day Joli hears from people who don't recognize that unnegotiated power dynamics are creating suffering in their most cherished relationships. Want an unconventionally happy life? You've got to start dealing with the power dynamics in your relationships. In this episode, we're talking about how we: make power visible in our daily life unpack old icky-but-comfortable manipulative habits practice reading each other's minds (you can too!) make (& keep) thoughtful, creative agreements rather than rely on social norms for security Referenced in the episode: Playing Well with Others by Lee Harrington & Mollena Williams (if you love that, check out Mollena's podcast All That and Mo') Thinking about opening your relationship? Joli has a free salon happening soon to get you started with the 5 pillars you NEED to do it well.

Join us with Mollena Williams-Haas, American writer, BDSM educator, actor, story teller and former International Ms. Leather, for an episode of Open Deeply in which Mollena explains how she took her back her agency and came to understand intergenerational pain more fully via BDSM. Mollena doesn't shy away from even the hardest questions related to being a Black woman who identifies as submissive. Her journey and storytelling have been so impactful to so many, that they eventually culminated in a film, The Artist and the Pervert. Furthermore, in this second episode with Mollena, she explains that although trauma related racism and classism lead her to being a “bed wetting alcoholic” for quite some time, she rose above, got sober, and eventually created the acclaimed show, “Hyena” along with her husband, composer, Georg Frederick-Haas about her experience with alcoholism. She continues to be a living testimony that our most dark fantasies and painful life stories can be transmuted into art that helps others heal and discard their own personal, debilitating shame. We hope you join us for this amazing episode. For more on building resilience through being submissive (especially as a Black woman) check out Ep. 8 and 9 of Mollena's podcast, All That & Mo. This episode was recorded at 11:15am on Saturday, January 11th, 2020 on the unceded territories of the Kwikwetlem First Nation, of Sto:lo Coast Salish Peoples. We were invited to West Coast Bound, a Canadian conference that examines sexuality, power, and aros. Metro Vancouver Kink, the organizing board for this conference, asked BlackChat to host a gathering with the other Black presenters, to discuss the intersections of Blackness and kink. "What is it to be Kinky While Black? Join BlackChat, the local “Gathering of the Melanated” hosted by !Kona and Morgan, with special guests Mollena Williams, Q-Tip, GoddessIndigo, Gloria Jackson-Nefertiti, and Yoseñio. Representing a range of identities and public tenure, expect a free-ranging conversation where we will be discussing what it means to have skin like us, with the history our people do, while being a lovely kinky freak. Listen in while we explore topics like racial tones in kink, our favourite scenes and experiences, where we find representation and solace in community, and more. We’ll start with a 30-minute, recorded, kitchen table style conversation, where the hosts and presenters will discuss the intersection of Blackness and Kink/Leather. Expect laughter, insights and stories to which witnesses will have the opportunity to contribute.* This will be followed by a Q&A talkback portion, and then a transition period into a POC ONLY space. Post-session, People of Colour are invited to join us for light calories and hydration into the lunch hour ." I, (Morgan) completely butchered the land acknowledgement on this episode. With my sincerest apologies, here are the written notes addressing the land in which this conversation took place on: the ancestral, traditional, and unceded Indigenous territories of the Coast Salish Peoples, and in particular, the Kwikwetlem First Nation Kwikwetlem refers to the unique sockeye salmon that once ran abundant in Coquitlam River and Coquitlam Lake, sustaining the community for thousands of years. Archaeological evidence shows that the Kwikwetlem have lived in the area for at least four thousand years. coquitlamheritage.ca/ Here is the link for the presenters of WCB which features the bios of all Black presenters present on this panel discussion: https://westcoastbound.ca/archive-2020/presenters-2020/ The music on this episode is called "Sweetly" by Tonye Aganaba. This Valentine’s day, I bring you a special interview that I got with Reid Mihalko. Normally new episodes publish on Patreon first and come out for free 9 months later. This episode is an exception and will air for everyone on Valentine’s day. If you find the quality better than my free episodes, maybe try out Patreon for a month and see if you like it. I have sessions with Sophia Sky at Pan Eros Foundation in Seattle and in a week am recording with the podcast hosts of Escape Pod about intimacy in being a podcaster. Escape Pod has been running about 12 years though the hosts haven’t been with it since inception, and is part of Escape Artists, a thriving podcast community. Finally, at Westcoast Bound, I was able to get Mollena Williams to agree to do some podcast episodes with me. If you don’t know Mollena, the content that human puts out is incredible. Alright. Enough promo - let’s talk about this episode. So, I was invited by Jazz Goldman, a comet partner of mine and sex educator living in New York to Reid Mihalko’s birthday party in his home. After picking Jazz up and driving to Reid and Allison’s place, we enjoyed hot tubbing and an afternoon orgy with some fellow sex educators. I spent the night with Jazz in Reid’s spare room. While I’m failing at making breakfast sounds, Reid comes into the kitchen and offers me some coffee.
In this episode I’m very pleased and honored to be joined by the highly accomplished Lee Harrington, he is one of those very precious “where have you been all my life” kind of sapiosexual soul mates that you feel like you could talk with forever and ever. I knew this was going to be a deep, profound, enlightening, and transformative journey. His perspectives on sexual healing, liberation, and empowerment are vast, multi-dimensional, and infinitely thought provoking. I’m looking forward to many ongoing explorations, it felt like we barely massaged the surface. He shares his personal background of transitioning from being born assigned female to becoming a man, developing personal practices and group opportunities to experience sacred kink, working as an adult performer, becoming an international sacred sexuality educator and advocate, and so much more. Our dialog felt like a free-style jam where we riffed off each other’s musings, laments, and future-positive affirmations and visioneerings. It felt like a bit of collaborative improvisational spell craft; all intended to expand love, acceptance, compassion, and co-operation. We dance with language and he provides insight into ways to evolve the terminologies we use to define “us and them” and when appropriate, transcend to more of a continuum than a dichotomy. I’m hopeful with the application of Lee’s wisdom teachings, we’ll move towards an unprecedented global village where a new “us with them” paradigm will replace the “us and them” and “us vs them” binaries. About Lee: Lee Harrington is an internationally known spiritual and erotic authenticity educator, gender explorer, eclectic artist, and award-winning author and editor on sexual and sacred experience. He is a nice guy with a disarmingly down to earth approach to the fact that we are each beautifully complex ecosystems, and we deserve to examine the human experience from that lens. He has been an academic and female adult film performer, a world class sexual adventurer, an outspoken philosopher, is a kink/bondage expert, and has been blogging about sex and spirituality since 1998. His books include “Sacred Kink: The Eightfold Paths of BDSM and Beyond,” “Traversing Gender: Understanding Transgender Realities,”“Playing Well With Others: Your Guide to Discovering, Exploring and Negotiating the Kink, Leather and BDSM Communities”(with Mollena Williams), “Shibari You Can Use: Japanese Rope Bondage and Erotic Macramé,” and others. This podcast has experts in power exchange talking about a key skill for power exchange. First Penny Barber outlines various reasons why a submissive might challenge a dominant and explains several different legitimate responses – in hope of creating the best possible outcome. Then Sarah Sloane discusses spoken and unspoken expectations for both sides and shares ideas for a healthy, productive relationship. Last, Mollena Williams explains how it is possible to work through issues even from within the D/s dynamic itself, keeping in mind that both sides are human beings first and their roles second. In part one, Alex Bettencourt draws from various sources such as books, films, magazines, etc. to offer inspiration for your service relationships. Not everyone has experience with ‘managing’ another person (which is another way to look at service submission), so Sarah Sloane is here to share some of her secrets to a successful service arrangement. She discusses the way to keep the service person motivated and gives specific suggestions for training and preventing micro-managing. Mollena Williams offers very concrete service tips – from the specifics of various forms of domestic servitude to sexual service and more – and recommends ways to make yourself useful based on you and your partner’s desires/needs. Lucky Albatross talks about the emphasis on service as a long-term situation, which can be intimidating to people hesitant to take on such a major task. Lucky proposes a smaller-scale integration of service into a “vacation” scenario, where you get all the fun of a real holiday with the added spice of a service dynamic. Sex educator, BDSM practitioner, and kink expert Mollena Williams is the guest on this week's installment of The Chauncey DeVega Show. She is the author of the book Playing Well With Others. Mollena Williams also travels across the country (and world) where she gives seminars and lectures on human sexuality, being sex positive, and the pleasures of being open to one's deepest sexual desires. Mollena was recently featured in a New York Times story about her marriage to world renowned composer Georg Friedrich Haas. In this fun and adult conversation, Mollena Williams and Chauncey talk about her life path, questions of sexual freedom and happiness, kink, "race play", white supremacy, and happiness in a person's intimate life. Chauncey and Mollena also dialogue about modern day black chattel slavery sex "plantations", the boundaries and rules of playing with sex and race, concerns about dignity, and how control of one's body and pleasure is an integral (and little discussed) part of the Black Freedom Struggle. Mollena Williams is a funny, smart, and great conversation partner. During this week's grown folks episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show, Chauncey also talks about his post Chicago Trump media appearances, complains about how a picture of him online does not do justice to his real beauty, warns Hillary Clinton about how Donald Trump will attack her in the 2016 presidential election, and discusses the Hulk Hogan penis trial and the legendary members of American presidents.

Join Lee Harrington in this rich discussion with sexuality and spirituality advocate, author and educator Xochiquetzal. They dive into race and appropriation in paganism and kink communities alike, sharing the idea that “race play” means something totally different as a Latina woman thinking of the Aztecs. From types of ways that people work to be “seen” in the world to the censure that we do to ourselves every day of our lives, Xochiquetzal and Lee examine how respect comes into play as explorers finding their ways in the world. While doing so, they acknowledge our energetic fatigue and ask each person to breathe deep and find a life beyond the shame gifted to us by our overculture. *** Xochiquetzal is a High Priest/ess within the Treebridge Tradition, through Lyceum of the Wayfarer. They are an initiated Shaktist, an Umbandista, a Polytheist, and Catholic. They rarely have issues with navigating these strangely mixed worlds. Within their work mingling sex, spirit, kink, and magic they have found freedom and joy. They are also called to Service by teaching this freedom and joy to any who come to them as seekers. *** Passion And Soul Podcast: iTunes Subscription: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/passion-soul-podcast-by-lee/id840372122 RSS Feed: http://passionandsoul.libsyn.com/rss Past MP3 files: http://passionandsoul.libsyn.com PassionAndSoul Audio Page: http://passionandsoul.com/audio Stitcher: http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/erotic-awakening-podcast/passion-and-soul Erotic Awakening Network: http://www.eroticawakening.com/podcast Xochiquetzal Contact Information: Website: http://sacredprofanity.com/ Facebook: http://fb.com/sacredprofanity1 Twitter: https://twitter.com/wyfrngstrngr Email: contact@sacredprofanity.com Fetlife: https://fetlife.com/users/703988 Links, Events, People and Books Mentioned: Rachel Dolezal: http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/jun/14/became-a-black-woman-spokane-rachel-dolezal-black-girl Pantheacon – San Jose, CA (February 12-15, 2016): http://pantheacon.com/wordpress/ Talking about the Elephant: An Anthology of Neopagan Perspectives on Cultural Appropriation (edited by Lupa) http://www.amazon.com/Talking-About-Elephant-Perspectives-Appropriation-ebook/dp/B0098NL86K/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=pass-20 Social Unrest and the Reflections of Pagans of Color: http://wildhunt.org/2013/07/social-unrest-and-the-reflections-of-pagans-of-color.html Racial Discussion Fatigue Syndrome: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=j6Kcsm5wp-4 Spencer Bergstedt, International Ms. Leather 1994: http://www.leatherati.com/2013/11/sir-spence-imsl/ Mollena Williams: http://www.mollena.org Playing Well With Others: http://www.amazon.com/Playing-Well-Others-Discovering-Communities/dp/0937609587/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=pass-20 Spirit of Desire: Personal Explorations of Sacred Kink (edited by Lee Harrington): http://www.amazon.com/Spirit-Desire-Personal-Explorations-Sacred/dp/0557992419/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=pass-20 By Blood, By Bone, By Blade (edited by Nicole Bonvisuto): http://www.amazon.com/Blood-Bone-Blade-Tribute-Morrigan/dp/150056656X/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=pass-20 Bringing Race to the Table: Exploring Racism in the Pagan Community (edited by Crystal Blanton, Taylor Elwood, and Brandy Williams): http://www.amazon.com/Bringing-Race-Table-Exploring-Community-ebook/dp/B00T5KABMS/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=pass-20 Many Gods West – Olympia, WA (July 31-August 2, 2015): http://manygodswest.com/ Lee's Upcoming Events/Appearances: http://passionandsoul.com/appearances/ Lee Harrington Contact Information: http://www.PassionAndSoul.com http://www.FetLife.com/passionandsoul http://twitter.com/#!/PassionAndSoul https://www.facebook.com/lee.harringon https://www.facebook.com/passionandsoul

In the last few weeks, we brought you Sacred Kink, then Sex is Fun, so now we add the question of "Is this is a lifestyle?". And we also sit down and chat with the fantastic Sarah Sloan (http://twitter.com/SarahSloane) and Mollena Williams (http://twitter.com/MOLLENA) from our time at Dark Odyssey to the sounds of slap and tickle and moans in the back ground. We discuss another aspect of the lifestyle - recovery in the lifestyle. But wait, there is more - a quick conversation with Jsin, of Beat Me In St Louis, on that upcoming event. Great event, and time is running out to decide if this is what you make this one! And! I describe a scene with dawn in graphic details. *Rarr* And use her moans as a segway. We wrap all that up with a "shout out" to all those great Chicago people. And coffee.
