Brian Whitlark is the West region director of the USGA Green Section. We talked about total organic material testing of turfgrass soils. This is distinct from soil organic matter testing. Soil organic matter is measured on material that has already passed a 2 mm sieve and thus is no larger than a grain of sand. This sieving removes much of the thatch and mat and living plant material from the sample. There's more about this, including definitions of various items related to this, in https://www.asianturfgrass.com/post/organic-matter-terminology-in-turfgrass-soils/ You can see how a soil sample is tested in this video from Brookside Labs https://youtu.be/PyL2bfdiBdE Richard Forsyth from Royal Melbourne also spoke about something related to the shear strength that Brian and I discussed https://www.youtube.com/live/T-w6CQzGzKc?feature=share Read more about all kinds of turfgrass topics at https://www.asianturfgrass.com/ See the ATC YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@asianturfgrass Find turfgrass information and decision-making tools at https://www.paceturf.org/ See the PACE Turf YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/paceturf See the ATC newsletters at https://subscribepage.com/atc_newsletters Listen to the ATC Doublecut with Micah Woods podcast at https://atc-doublecut.transistor.fm/ Listen to the ATC Office Hours podcast at https://atc-office-hours.transistor.fm/

Micro fibres and microplastics can be dangerous for our health when we are going about our hobbies at the sewing machine. Julie Moore recognized this early on in her quilting career and set out to make a change in the industry. She was determined to bring organic threads to the quilting world and has worked for the last 20 years or so to make a difference in the lives of farmers, sewers and quilters. I talk with Julie about her journey to creating naturally dyed threads and her continued interest in improving access to healthy and safe cotton threads. Julie Moore founded Fiberactive Organics more than 20 years ago with the mission of bringing organic textiles into the mainstream. Fiberactive now manufactures organic cotton sewing thread for retailers and textile manufacturers around the world. Murder Mystery [Doll made of real organic material] | Old Time Radio - Sherlock Holmes Welcome listeners to your Monday night episode of Old Time Radio, and today, and for the past two days, I've been sick. Super tired, and in need of some rest. Ended up having a nasty stomach bug that took the wind out of my sails for the entire weekend, just awful. That being said, I'm going to keep today's intro short, so as to have a solid rest, and get back on my feet for Wednesday. Folks it's Monday Old Time Radio day, and I've remastered the Sherlock Holmes episode called “The Living Doll”. This one has TWO narrators present, a sort of Sherlock Holmes special that I haven't seen done till now. Also, we'll have a clue as to who the killer is, and watch Holmes struggle to find the killer until Watson says something that triggers a thought. I really enjoyed this episode and I hope you will to. Just wanted to say thank you SO much for my Patreon supporters, and I'll be back to normal Wednesday, and as will my introductions and Outro's. Stay awesome and I'll be recovering – see yah Wednesday mates.
