The abrupt ending is meant as a call back to the emotional shock of a high profile divorce. (not really, but that sounds plausible, right?)

Are you constantly looking for proof that your partner really loves you? It's time to stop testing your marriage and start trusting instead! The viral Orange Peel Theory has exposed a habit many of us do without realizing: testing our partners to see if they measure up. But what if these subtle relationship tests are actually harming our connection instead of strengthening it? In this episode, I reveal: ✅ Why we feel compelled to test our relationships ✅ How testing creates the insecurity we fear ✅ A mindset shift to stop testing your marriage and build real trust ✅ How to build an unshakable bond—without the ‘tests' If you want to stop testing your marriage and start building a love based on certainty, not constant proof, this video is for you.

Move over, compatibility quizzes and love languages! TikTok has unleashed a new wave of "dating tests" designed to reveal hidden truths about your relationship. But are these viral trends harmless fun or a recipe for disaster? One popular example, the "Orange Peel Theory," suggests that a partner's willingness to peel an orange for you signifies their true level of affection. Another, the "Bird Test," involves observing your partner's reaction to a distressed bird to gauge their empathy. These tests, often presented with a playful tone, have taken the platform by storm, racking up millions of views and sparking countless debates."It's all in good fun," says TikTok user @LoveGuru22, who frequently posts videos featuring relationship challenges. "These tests are just a lighthearted way to get people thinking about their relationships."However, relationship experts are raising concerns about the potential harm these trends could cause."These tests promote oversimplification and can lead to unnecessary anxiety and conflict," warns Dr. Emily Chen, a renowned relationship therapist. "Relationships are complex, and reducing them to simplistic tests can be misleading and damaging."Some critics also argue that these tests perpetuate harmful stereotypes and power dynamics. The "Orange Peel Theory," for instance, reinforces the outdated notion that men should be the ones performing acts of service for women.Despite the criticism, the popularity of these tests shows no signs of slowing down. The hashtag #datingtest has garnered over 500 million views on TikTok, and new tests are constantly emerging. This phenomenon highlights the growing influence of social media on our romantic lives. While these tests may offer some entertainment value, it's crucial to remember that healthy relationships are built on open communication, trust, and mutual respect, not viral trends.Beyond the Orange Peel: Other TikTok Dating TestsThe article you linked mentions the "Orange Peel" and "Bird Test," but TikTok is a breeding ground for a whole host of other questionable relationship challenges, including:* The "Loyalty Test": This involves sending a fake message to your partner from an attractive stranger to see how they respond.* The "Name a Woman" Test: Asking your partner to "name a woman" (besides family) supposedly reveals their true desires.* The "Beckham Test": Based on the idea that David Beckham is the ideal man, this test encourages partners to compare their significant other to the soccer star. These tests, while often presented in a humorous light, can be incredibly damaging, fostering insecurity and distrust within relationships.Contact KOP for professional podcast production, imaging, and web design services at http://www.kingofpodcasts.comSupport KOP by subscribing to his YouTube channel and search for King Of PodcastsFollow KOP on Twitter or Facebook @kingofpodcastsListen to KOP's other programs, Podcasters Row… and the Wrestling is Real Wrestling Podcast and The Broadcasters Podcast.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/depraved-and-debaucherous--5267208/support.
Alkesh Parmar is a designer and researcher. Over the years, he has hollowed out champagne corks and turned them into chandeliers, as well as transforming traditional Indian terracotta cups into light fittings. But he is best known for his work with citrus peel in general – and orange peel in particular.Using a material generally thought of as waste, he has created a variety of extraordinary products including a juicer (for obvious reasons) and a lampshade. His practice combines craft with critical design and, it's fair to say, he was a relatively early adopter in the design industry of working with local materials and questioning the effects of globalisation. When he's not working with waste, he is also a teacher at the Royal College of Art. Alkesh was one of the stars of the Material Matters fair when it launched in 2022 and he's returning to Bargehouse when the doors open for the 2024 edition, which runs from 18-21 September. In this episode we talk about: why he's researching the history of oranges for the Material Matters fair; the properties of orange peel and how it can behave like leather; how he sources his material of choice; the importance of failure to his practice; not wanting to run a large company; coming from a family of shoemakers; and his relationship with light. The Material Matters fair is free for trade but you must register in advance here: https://registration.iceni-es.com/material-matters/reg-start.aspxSupport the show

Such a fun experience meeting and chatting with coach, ultra runner, business owner, mom and wife-Tera Pruett. Instantly, I was struck by her confidence, her vibrant spirit and her sense of adventure. Tera's goal is to help others accomplish their goals...whether that is on the trails, in the gym, or simply being brave enough to take on adventure that didn't think was possible. She genuinely cares about the success of her athletes, showing them how capable they are even when they feel they are not. I would have her as my cheerleader any day! Besides all the other hats she wears, Tera is the force behind the Asheville Trail Running Film Festival for the past few years. The film festival will take place on April 21st at 4:30 PM at the Orange Peel, and I look so forward to attending this event! American Songwriter writes that the Asheville, NC based group, “filters 60's/70's psychedelia and 90's alternative rock through a modern lens–as if Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Nirvana co-wrote an album produced by Danger Mouse and Dan Auerbach.” The Get Right Band formed in 2011, built around the musical brotherhood that guitarist/singer/songwriter Silas Durocher and bassist Jesse Gentry have formed playing music together since middle school (25 years!). Durocher, who is a trained composer and has been commissioned to write for symphonies and chamber groups, has guitar chops that can soothe or rage, with a charismatic swagger as frontman and singer. Gentry's virtuosic bass playing “catapults from elastic to nasty” (The Mountain Xpress). Over the years, GRB has defined their sound through constant evolution, building to the hook-driven, synth-heavy pop/rock/psych band they are today. The Huffington Post writes, “their songs are infectious and take you immediately to a place. The lyrics are smart and bear weight.” “The Get Right Band are the type of performers that you just know will break out. Their songs are infectious and take you immediately to a place. The lyrics are smart and bear weight.” – The Huffington Post The Get Right Band has shared the stage with Dr. Dog, Everclear, Cracker, UB40, Rusted Root, Smash Mouth, and Lifehouse; been featured on NPR's World Cafe, Paste Studio, and WTF with Marc Maron; and performed at major venues and festivals including The Fillmore, Brooklyn Bowl, Theatre of the Living Arts, The Orange Peel, FloydFest, Bristol Rhythm & Roots, and Riverbend Fest. They have released four studio albums and a live album, and their latest LP, iTopia, dropped on April 7, 2023. Based in the sprawling Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, The Sleeping Cliffs is a solo studio project from multi-instrumentalist Todd Glidewell. Combining elements of indietronica, post-rock, alternative, funk, jazz-fusion and ambient electronica, The Sleeping Cliffs produce emotive, cinematic, instrumental songs. Though not boxed in by any one genre, the songs share an undertow of gritty bass lines, layers of guitar, and big rock drums.

She criticizes men who try to "teach" women a lesson, describing these actions as malicious rather than a sign of ignorance. Elle emphasizes that dating should be about observation, not rehab, and women should not feel obligated to mold their partners into their ideal man. She also discusses the harmful effects of accepting less than what one deserves in a relationship, using the phrase "he's not dumb, he just hates you" to illustrate her point. Elle encourages her listeners to command respect, compassion, and consideration in their relationships. She ends with the assertion that good men do exist and women should not settle for less. Stress Dolls is the moniker of Chelsea O'Donnell, a songwriter from Buffalo, NY. She writes songs inspired by life experiences, ranging from dealing with chronic illness, to learning to live with anxiety, and even a few love songs thrown in for good measure. Currently, Stress Dolls takes on several forms live: solo with O'Donnell and her acoustic guitar; as a duo when joined by longtime collaborator Sally Schaefer on violin; or as a band when combined with members TJ Luckman (bass), Jordan Smith (lead guitar), and Josh English (drums). The project's sound has drawn such comparisons as "Joni Mitchell meets Nirvana," "Avril Lavigne and Foo Fighters in a blender," and "Kathleen Hanna fronting Modest Mouse."

This is Episode 140 and our guest is River Shook. Known professionally by their birth name Sarah, River is the lead singer and songwriter for their bands Sarah Shook and the Disarmers and Mightmare. Y'all, if you have listened to this show for any amount of time you know how much I love River and their work. This is their second appearance on The Marinade. The first was way back in 2018 ahead of Sarah Shook and the Disarmers show in Orlando, FL. A LOT has happened for them (and for me) since that talk as you will hear in this episode. We caught up with River at the inaugural AVLFest in Asheville, North Carolina ahead of their incredible set at the legendary Orange Peel. I have to say a huge thanks to Wicked Weed Brewing and Worthwhile Sounds who sponsored the festival and Victory Lap Media for inviting us to cover AVLFest. Support The Marinade on Patreon.
