The snowball that is my train of thought is all over the place this week. Why is it I keep starting off by talking about the weather? Of course, this rolls into a little chat about the side effects of having such an active monsoon season, like my yard getting overgrown and the damage on our local tree population. Naturally, this rolls into garden talk and about how it's almost September and that it's been nearly a year with my truck and we're still working on getting things fixed to get it legal in this state. Talk of fixing the truck then turns to why our garage renovations have been delayed and how my wife keeps buying hanging racks for me to install in the garage. With one of those shelf purchases she also bought me my very first KitchenAid stand mixer, which of course gets me talking about pizza and baking cookies. Then the snowball starts rolling back into the garage renovations and about tools for doing it, but that is dependent on getting the truck fixed so I can finish clearing it all out. But first things first, I have to get the back yard cleaned up so I can start planting my fall garden. In a modified "Recommended Listening" segment, I talk about some TV that I've been watching lately including "Harley Quinn" on HBO Max and Letterkenny on Hulu. I've also recently checked out the new podcast from, friend of the show, Paul Csomo, "Avast." If you are familiar with the "Varmints" podcast, imagine that style but talking about pirates. There aren't a lot of episodes yet, so I will reserve a full review for later.Join the Facebook Group Oddballs: Friends of The Odd Dad Outhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/odddadoutBuy Me A Coffeehttp://buymeacoffee.com/odddadoutFollow Along on Social athttps://www.twitter.com/odddadout/https://www.facebook.com/odddadout/https://www.instagram.com/odddadout
Yo ho, yo ho! This week, Laura is joined by guest host Paul Csomo to delve into pirates' unique connection with nature. From using wind and currents to navigate ships to knowing which animals and plants held nutritional or medicinal value, pirates had to be familiar with nature in order to survive as a seafarer.Check out this episode wherever you get your podcasts. This week we are joined by the very entertaining Paul Csomo. We will be duking it out to decide who will be the latest edition to the super smash bros roster. Will it be the cassowary or the red kangaroo?

What's up, Plant People?? Listen, there are a lot of good things for you and one of those things is for you to not die lost in the woods. To help make sure that wish comes true, my friend Paul Csomo from the Varmints Podcast came on the show for today's episode to tell you some things he's learned from his hobby of studying wilderness survival. We also talk a lot about starting a podcast, listening to podcasts, and about gas station sushi. Paul is a wonderful human, and I think you're really going to enjoy this. Don't eat the sushi, don't eat the mushroom, and don't die in the woods. E88 - Still stuck on the topic of online dating, Joelle talks Julianne into doing a funny Q & A to find out all about our love lives. First we catch up on 80’s tv, get advice from Alan Alda, and lament the air quality from the Northern California wildfires (stay safe Sunni, Brandi and Cori). Then we jump into online dating with optimistic Mouse and pessimistic Weens, and dissect what types of guys Weens likes. There’s a rather frightening interruption that throws us for a loop, so we pause and come back the next day. You’ll hear about married men, divorced men, and deal breakers when it comes to humor, taste in music, politics, and footwear. We even play a little fantasy threesome, FMK or Whoopee-Marry- Kill, and learn way too much about Tom Hardy and Don Johnson!Podcast Promo: Best Forevers: A Podcast for Kindred Spirits www.alysalucas.comPodcast Shoutouts to Book of Lies, That’s Not Proper, Paul Csomo of Varmints!, The Picture Show with Austin and Phil Rood, Sleep With Me Podcast, and Chris Fairbanks of Do You Need A Ride?Song Credit: "Somebody Else’s Man" by Julianne EggoldVoice Actor: Matt ThompsonPlease follow and contact us via Instagram, Twitter, Facebook @mouseandweensYou can get this episode UNEDITED and AD-FREE - plus bonus content, outtakes, and merch - for a mere $5 a month on www.patreon.com/mouseandweens Join the family!

PodFix is a network of podcasts, hosted by a wide ranging style of hosts, show formats and genres. Cliche as it may be, we pretty much have something for everyone. Movies, music, improv, storytelling, animals... Varmints to be specific. Shows to make you laugh or question your sanity or teach you something new. Thanks https://twitter.com/PCsomo (Paul Csomo) for this fun Mandarin Chinese, German, Spanish and English language moment. It was so much fun. Ever publish 30 podcast episodes in 30 days? Neither have https://twitter.com/PCsomo (Paul Csomo) or myself before NaPodPoMo this month (full info below). It has been an experience to remember so we decided to have a decompression/reflection moment on the mic about it. You had your meats, so now you get your pudding. Last week, Paul Csomo (from the Varmints Podcast) went into detail about his love of the band Tool. Not only did he tell us WHY he liked the band, he told us HOW we can like it too. So, that's what these Response editions will cover, Chris doing his homework and reporting back to you. He's joined by his wife Alyse, and they breakdown how the week went, plus some fun banter. Also, voicemails were played, so just know, you can play along at home. Enjoy, and see you next week when there's a new THING from a new guestFollow Host Chris on Twitter or Instagram and let's start the conversation!Email your questions or comments here. This is it. The first episode of the I Like To Like Things Podcast. In every main episode, you'll join me (Chris) as I interview a new guest and they'll share their favorite "thing" whatever that thing may be. The catch, I must be unfamiliar with that "thing" so I can learn to like it too. So, if you're looking for an uplifting conversation about Paul Csomo's (of Varmints Podcast fame) favorite band, then you've come to the right place! What band is that? You'll just have to listen and find out, because that's what this podcast journey is all about: trying new things while leaving your biases behind. I hope you enjoy the shenanigans as much as I did. One of the things that I really love about Spider-Man is how big the cast of other characters is, especially the crossover with other Marvel heroes. Maybe some of that is because he’s the first place I really saw that. And maybe some of why the first Spider-Man game for PS1 is my all time favorite Spider-Man game in the whole world no question is because it’s the first one I really got to play through over and over and over. Listen in as Paul Csomo from Varmints joins the show to finally talk about what is possibly the game that I get asked about doing the most. Easily top 3 worst case.Learn such things as: Have Paul’s feelings about Rhino changed? What’s the point of having all those different suits? Does anyone even care that this one came out for Game Boy Color? And much more! For July my guest of the month is the ever wonderful Paul Csomo from the Varmints podcast. Unlike his previous appearance, this time we actually ended up talking about animals quite a bit. Of course there's also the obligatory podcasting and tech talk. We talk about what it's like living in states with such dangerous wildlife. Also, we joke about Paul's experience eating bugs, and the difference between animal rights activists and conservationists, with a side track into Paul's Funko Pop collection.Full Links at http://odddadoutpodcast.com/peta-can-suck-it-w-paul-csomoJoin the Facebook Group Oddballs: Friends of The Odd Dad Outhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/odddadoutDonate on Patreonhttp://patreon.com/join/odddadoutFollow Along on Social athttps://www.twitter.com/odddadout/https://www.facebook.com/odddadout/https://www.instagram.com/odddadout/

Devo started out as an art project and turned into one of the most influential bands of the electronic and punk movement. Devo takes its name from de-evolution of the human race. We explore the beginnings of this band formed from the 1970's shooting at Kent State, to graffiti potatoes, to having David Bowie get them a record contract. Q: Are We Not Men? A: No, we are pop culture's most misunderstood band. Special thanks to Paul Csomo of The Varmints Podcast for suggesting this topic. This week we are sponsored by SeatGiant.com and Poincoin. Welcome Back to Nooks and Crannies, and thanks for hanging in there during our hiatus. This week we have a heavy episode, and I am not just talking about the Mutton-Chops! We kick matters off with a blisteringly uninteresting discussion of the weather, including Evan’s approach to wearing Long-John’s and the sculpted nature of Matty’s Legs. We invited Edward James Almos aka Matty and that lil rapscallion Lou Diamond Phillips aka Heaven, back on N&C!! This can only mean it’s the resumption of the ANTHROPOLOGY 101 series (6:16); we are talking Darwin and Huxley and after a little interlude, finishing up on Edward Tylor (19:14) who founded the discipline, as well as sent it on a racist path for like, oh I don’t know, only 50+ years, a legacy that anthropology is still trying to shake loose from to this day. Right in the middle of the racist history of anthropology, is a light-hearted discussion of Matty’s most recent noggin knock (13:10). Matty deploys an amazing segway of his own and uses this trauma as a way of shamelessly plugging the Chronicity Series-to be launched March 2019. This will be a mashup of 16 interviews with podcasters and podcast enthusiasts who spoke to me about their chronic illnesses. Be sure to hit subscribe to not miss out, and tell your friends about this one please, thanks in advance Because this was such a heavy episode, I decided to throw a Bonus Surprise Segment in at the end to lighten the mood. We are talking Eugenics and Phrenology next week…so, just wanted to leave a good taste in your mouths. Big ol thanks to Paul Csomo, co-host of the Varmints Podcast for indulging me, tune in next week to hear the rest of our diatribes! Happy holidays to you. This week I’ve got a tale of too many “Perplexi,” an oddly large number of humorous news stories about guns, a “Jackass” who wants to trade pot for a Big Mac, and I don’t care if Paul Csomo already mentioned it, in “Recommended Listening” I’m talking about Weird With You. Hope you had a great holiday, whatever holiday you celebrate. For us that would be Yule, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t give presents. But when you’ve got 4 boys who get jealous of everything, you have to have a strategy. For example, buying them all different versions of the same toy. In our case that toy would be the Perplexus. If you haven’t seen one, a Perplexus is a 3 dimensional puzzle, usually within a sphere, where the goal is to move a ball from a starting point through 100+ turns and obstacles to the end without falling off the track. Just because it’s labeled ages 8 and up, this is no easy task, and once you start playing you will get sucked in to the game by sheer frustration… We bought 4. Not only did we buy 4, but we bought 4 different versions. We got the Original, the Epic, the Mini Twist, and the World’s Smallest Perplexus, which is an original that is about the size of a tennis ball. And every single one has had everybody in the house occupied since opening them up. -BS From The News--Man Uses Taped Up NES Gun To Rob BanksA man in Mexico used an old NES Zapper toy, wrapped in electrical tape, to rob as many as 15 banks.-New York Town Holds Toy Gun Buyback Program To Change Gun CultureIn an attempt to change American’s culture of using guns, one New York town has started a program to buy back toy guns in exchange for other toys. Sorry, if you're looking for a regular episode then this just isn't the week for you. Instead of your regularly scheduled comic and video game comparison I'm taking this week to highlight just some of the many people that have made this show what it is today. Running the spectrum from purely podcast inspiration to full on friendship there's no way I can talk about everyone that needs to be here. People Mentioned in this Episode Jay and Miles X-Plain the X-Men Fantasticast Journey in Misery Luke Herr from Exiled and Multiversal Q Chris and Christi from Chrises on Infinite Earths (I accidentally called her Christina in the audio and I can't fix it now without making it sound like crap and I'm so sorry for that) Paul Csomo from Varmints Underdog Podcast Group on Facebook Chris Green from Gravity Beard Josh Bowman from Faith Deficit Chris and Steven from Is This Adulting? Julie Kinn from Meddling Kids and Station Wagon and the various shows aimed at military people Tawny Plattis from Tawny Voice (and specifically for us The Dirty Bits) Josh Hallmark from the Our Americana Podcast Network (including Our Americana, The Karen and Ellen Letters, Playlist, and True Crime Bullshit) Adam Higgins from Odd Dad Out and his mixing help is why this episode sounds as good as it does despite my rambling on Megan ad RJ from Oh No! Lit Class Joe and Carlos from Life, Death, and Taxonomy Heather Welch from Sunshine and PowerCuts The Gravity Beard group on Facebook Tiff Franks, the best Facebook group moderator around Kelsey Jane and Torey Roger Reichardt from GamerHeads Tyler Kirby from Better Than Static Karrington Martin and Kyle Federline from Real Dudes Podcast Your Podcast Homework Let the people who have had this kind of impact on your life know that you appreciate them Find a way to do that same thing for someone else Music as always by Best Day, who didn't get mentioned in the episode but really should have been.
Thursday Day 29 and I've just about done it. I wanhted to do a big clip show at the end of this, but that's just too much work. Instead I'm just looking back at how much I've grown in the last month of daily shows. Although it's a tough thing to accomplish, I think this could be a great training exercise for any newbie podcaster to fast track growing their skills.Very special thank you to all of you who have supported me through this whole month, especially: Paul Csomo, Derek Graziano, Chris Osborne, and Heather Welch. When you sign up for a social media account, once you've established your username and profile, what's one of the first things you do? Choose a profile picture. Well, in 1776, after the Declaration of Independence was signed, what was one of the first things the founding fathers wanted to do? Establish a national seal -- basically the profile picture of the United States. But it's not like they could just grab ye olde selfie stick and pose for one, they wanted something strong, a symbol of America's fortitude and pride. I'm your host, Emily Prokop, and this is The Story Behind America's Bald Eagle. The role of Benjamin Franklin was played by Paul Csomo, co-host of the Varmints podcast at BlazingCaribouStudios.com.
