Playlist of the Show:[23:09] What'd I Say - Ray Charles[26:30] Early Summer - Ryo Fukui[28:52] Hymn to Freedom - Oscar PetersonAI建议的爵士乐育儿歌单(20月龄-36月龄)20个月:高保真钢琴触键(物理建模期) ● 曲目: Midnight Sugar (山本刚), C-Jam Blues (Red Garland), Linus and Lucy (Vince Guaraldi), Bag's Groove (MJQ) ● 深度分析: ○ 脑神经科学: 20个月的孩子,内耳耳蜗的**音调映射(Tonotopic map)**正在进行最后的物理微调。 1. Work Song (Nat Adderley) 2. Killer Joe (Benny Golson) 3. Blues in the Closet (Bud Powell) 4. 1. Moanin' (Art Blakey) 2. Song for My Father (Horace Silver) 3. The Sidewinder (Lee Morgan) 4. Watermelon Man (Herbie Hancock) 5. 1. Aruarian Dance (Nujabes) 2. Luv(sic) Part 3 (Nujabes) 3. Waltz for Life Will Born (Uyama Hiroto) 4. Take Five (Dave Brubeck) 2. Unsquare Dance (Dave Brubeck) 3. Blue Rondo à la Turk (Dave Brubeck) 4. 1. Waltz for Debby (Bill Evans) 2. Bluesette (Toots Thielemans) 3. Alice in Wonderland (Bill Evans) 4. Up with the Lark (Bill Evans) ● 深度分析: ○ 脑神经科学: 三拍子会强烈刺激小脑的前庭系统。 1. The Girl from Ipanema (Stan Getz) 2. Wave (Antônio Carlos Jobim) 3. Desafinado (Stan Getz) 4. 1. So What (Miles Davis) 2. Maiden Voyage (Herbie Hancock) 3. Little Sunflower (Freddie Hubbard) 4. 1. My Funny Valentine (Chet Baker) 2. You'd Be So Nice to Come Home To (Art Pepper) 3. Autumn Leaves (Cannonball) 4. 1. Scrapple from the Apple (Charlie Parker) 2. A Night in Tunisia (Dizzy Gillespie) 3. Donna Lee (Charlie Parker) 4. Early Summer (Ryo Fukui) 2. Scenery (Ryo Fukui) 3. Blow Up (Isao Suzuki) 4. 1. L-O-V-E (Nat King Cole) 2. Cheek to Cheek (Fitzgerald & Armstrong) 3. Fly Me to the Moon (Sinatra) 4. How High the Moon (Ella Fitzgerald) ● 深度分析: ○ 脑神经科学: SSIR 假说(Shared Syntactic Integration Resource)指出,语言与音乐共享神经资源。 St. Thomas (Sonny Rollins) 2. Moritat (Sonny Rollins) 3. Cantaloop (Us3) 4. Mambo Inn (George Shearing) 2. Manteca (Dizzy Gillespie) 3. Afro Blue (Mongo Santamaría) 4. Spain (Chick Corea) 2. Birdland (Weather Report) 3. Giant Steps (John Coltrane) 2. Naima (John Coltrane) 3. Speak No Evil (Wayne Shorter) 4. 1. Rhapsody in Blue (Gershwin) 2. Hymn to Freedom (Oscar Peterson) 3. The Köln Concert (Keith Jarrett) 4.
In this episode of The Leader's Notebook (Ep. 301), I walk through Judges 17 and the tragic picture of spiritual confusion. Micah's story shows how easily people build a self-made religion, mixing truth with error and assuming God must bless whatever they assemble. From false idols to hired priests, it is possible to look religious while being completely disconnected from God's revealed truth. I contrast the self-made man, the man-made power system, and the unmade man who is broken before God, and I show how grace still reaches the humbled heart. This message is a clear call to reject spiritual “scrap-heap” faith and stand on the unchanging Word of God, the blood of Jesus Christ, and true repentance. Leaders especially must inspect their label and be sure they are God-made, not culture-made.- Dr. Mark Rutland Chapters (00:00:03) - The Leaders Notebook(00:00:25) - Judges(00:03:56) - How Were You Made?(00:09:26) - Scrapple(00:18:07) - Manasseh the Unmade King(00:21:38) - Preaching the Right Message(00:27:48) - Manasseh(00:33:13) - The Leader's Notebook

Teams from around the country & around the world descend on this Pennsylvania town to participate in the Little League World Series. Teams include Japan & Latin America plus the regional representatives from the United States. Carolina Outdoor host, Bill Bartee, speaks with Lee Clinton. Clinton runs Clinton Farms & takes care of the property, turf and fields of Clover School District #2, in Clover, SC, but heads to PA to manage the famed fields in South Williamsport for a week in August. _____________________________________________________________________________________________ Show Highlights: Preparation, meetings, & handling the weather during the games Lodging? Especially when the home that you usually live is purchased & demolished Brotherhood of the ground crew. Different ages & from different regions Difference in turf from the Carolinas (Clover, SC) & the tournament fields Things You'll Learn by Listening: What is the difference between scrapple and liver mush? Livermush is a popular Southern breakfast or lunch dish. Many say that it is one of the first pork foods made in America. Scrapple comes from the farms of Pennsylvania. The word scrapple originated from “scrap” and consisted of ground leftover pig scraps that were boiled and then combined with cornmeal and other spices. Livermush is composed of pig liver, other parts & cornmeal mixed with spices. The Carolina Outdoors is powered by the tailgate brands like Tundra 45 YETI, Turtlebox Speakers, & a pair of Duckhead pants from the Charlotte fly shop, Jesse Brown's.

This week I'm sharing a clip from another podcast I was featured on a couple of years ago. I share a couple of funny stories that I've never shared before. The first story is about how actor Bill Murray inadvertently ruined my anniversary dinner. I love Bill, and this isn't something he intentionally did, but the story relates to good (and poor) customer service. The other story is about scrapple, an original recipe of mine, and how a large spice company might have appropriated this recipe, passed it off as their own, and it subsequently ended up in a book. I've joked about it, but I'm still kind of salty. In today's content creation era, it's something that I think is relevant.PEOPLE AND THINGS MENTIONED IN THIS PODCASTPlum Luv Foods Episode 362 with Chris SpearChef Plum on InstagramThe ORIGINAL Scrapple Dip RecipeThe Bill Murray dinner incident post from 2012Buy the book Pennsylvania ScrappleCHEFS WITHOUT RESTAURANTSIf you enjoy the show and would like to support it financially, please check out our Sponsorship page (we get a commission when you use our links). Politics in New Jersey is becoming must see. We're currently embroiled in the "Tammy Murphy versus Andy Kim" Senate primary that's getting nastier by the day. Soon we'll have the governor's race, where Steve Fulop, Ras Baraka, and Steve Sweeney have already joined, with more rumored to be eyeing the prize. It's a crazy time. That made me think: how much do WE here at NJITW know about the structure of NJ politics? I decided to put Nick and Mike (and myself) through some basic state focused civics quizzing for fun, to see where we're at knowledge-wise, and to encourage our listeners to go brush up on their related knowledge as well.Little did I know that at some point we would say a name that would set Bonadooch off on the most Bonadooch tirade this show has ever seen. In this episode of the Learn Jazz Standards Podcast, Brent answers a question from Marlene about ghost notes in jazz soloing. He describes ghost notes as less intentional and more of a stylistic and phrasing element in jazz improvisation. Using the example of Charlie Parker's "Scrapple from the Apple," Brent illustrates how ghost notes are integrated into jazz melodies. He emphasizes that ghost notes are best learned organically through playing and phrasing jazz in a certain style, rather than planning them deliberately. The episode concludes with a reminder about the importance of knowledge in action and the effectiveness of focused practice.Important Links:Free Guide to learning standards by ear: Learn Jazz Standards the Smart WayLJS Inner Circle MembershipListen to the Learn Jazz Standards PodcastLearn Jazz Standards Inner Circle: Get 50% off your first month! This is the 2nd of 3 episodes that Pheonix and I recorded onsite in South Carolina at the Fall Sprawl Hang that is hosted by The Palmetto State Hangers. Our guest for this episode is Jason Flowers, from Walhalla Hammocks and Outdoors. Pheonix and I had tried to record with Jason several times a while back but ended up having technical issues every time. We figured that this time with us face to face, that we could make it happen. Jason is another one of our good friends, and also one of our favorite vendors to just hang out with and chat some. We find out from Jason how he got his start into the hammocking world, and how that lead him into making all of the top notch, awesome gear that he makes. Pheonix even talks about the custom hammock that Jason made for him that has some sentimental value to it. Pheonix and Jason also team up against me when they start talking about their late night snacking on Crapple...... I mean, Scrapple.... Let's go ahead and get on with the episode so we can hear more from Jason. We're joined by Siân Griffiths (author of Scrapple, and The Heart Keeps Faulty Time) to discuss a short story she regularly teaches and that her students often dislike, in large part because it involves killing cats. And it turns out Mike might be on Team Siân's Students, though for somewhat different reasons (not that he cares for cats being killed, either!). We talk about the pedagogical benefits of having your students read something they may not like, and debate where the line is between a good description and an overwrought, show-offy one. Plus: horse stuff! You can read the story, "Breatharians," here, via The New Yorker: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2012/10/22/breatharians And learn more about our guest, and her work, here: http://www.sbgriffiths.com/ If you like the podcast, and would like more of it, we're releasing two bonus episodes a month to our Patreon subscribers, for only $5: https://www.patreon.com/BookFight

Welcome to November 9, 2022 on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate the season of gratitude and a regional favorite. Most people agree that the Thanksgiving meal is one they look forward to all year. And while the tradition of what's on the menu may vary from home to home, the secret ingredient that makes every meal delicious is gratitude. Perhaps you've noticed how counting your blessings makes everything in life appear sweeter, even when it's hard to see the silver lining. When life goes off course try keeping an attitude of gratitude. It's not an essential cooking ingredient, but it is one of life's best kept secrets. During National Gratitude Month, we invite you to watch as the things you're grateful for begin to multiply. If you're not from Philadelphia, you've probably never heard of Scrapple. This regional favorite was brought to Philly by immigrants from Germany, where it was popular with rural communities. Farmers butchered their hogs, and used most of the meat for sausages or bacon, but all of the remaining parts were made into scrapple. The traditional version was made with meat only, but Americans combine it with cornmeal or buckwheat, and form it into a loaf. This is then sliced and fried, and typically served as a breakfast side dish. Today the recipe may also include beef, chicken or turkey. You will see it topped with applesauce, ketchup, maple syrup or horseradish, though not all at the same time. On National Scrapple Day, celebrate by trying something different, which may just be easier now that you know how the sausage is made. I'm Anna Devere and I'm Marlo Anderson.
