That's what's going to make it into print.” (41:10) Guests: Sarah Mokh: Filmmaker behind Cigarettes, premiering in the SXSW Independent Pilot Competition. Quick cash, no interest, no monthly payments—sounds like a sweet deal, right? Wrong. In this episode of Real Estate REPlay, Wendy Gilch teams up with her no-nonsense lender BFF, Chelle Prunkel, to call BS on the slick marketing behind Home Equity Agreements (HEAs). These so-called “loan alternatives” might sound like a dream, but spoiler alert: they're a nightmare waiting to happen. From shady equity grabs to terms that can double your payout, Wendy and Chelle rip the curtain off these equity-stealing scams and explain why they're basically the payday loans of homeownership. Want to keep your house and your sanity? They'll show you smarter ways to unlock your home's value without losing your shirt—or your generational wealth.Plus, we'll throw shade at predatory ads, highlight how HEAs sidestep key consumer protections, and give you the lowdown on why a nosy loan officer is the hero you didn't know you needed.Tune in now for the real talk (and maybe a few F-bombs) you need to protect your biggest investment—your home.
This week's pick is the 1973 exploitation film the Candy Snatchers. A girl named Candy is kidnapped, or snatched, and is buried alive by criminals demanding a fortune in diamonds from her father's jewelry store.

Possession is a regular trope in horror and sci-fi. The idea that a physical body could be taken over by an external entity is as disturbing as it is enticing. However, there are many sub categories of this kind of bodysnatching, from parasites that physically puppeteer to Freaky Friday-esque body swaps. This week, Jules and Madeleine delve into the humour and horror of the trope, drawing on a wide range of speculative fiction and there own work where appropriate. On the slab this week: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, V, the Bodysnatchers and many more. Title music: Ecstasy by Smiling Cynic

The extraterrestrial comedy podcast where we probe penis-snatching. Mr Moonwalker today makes the choice that Kev in the John, never, had. Twice. In 2023 Nigeria, the most awful of pandemic's broke out. Worse than life-ending disease, this pandemic resulted in people temporarily losing their penis. It's not just d*cks either, for some folks were losing nipples. These incidents have resulted in much pain and suffering via mob justice. There have also been police prosecutions related to these cases of vanishing penis. Alongside these horrific events we ponder whether a micropenis is the size of a nose? If you had the power to inflict people with a micro-organ, would you use it? Ultimately we ask whether this unusual epidemic was a case of aliens, a cryptid, demons, voodoo, a ghost, or telekinesis? Then we give Mr Moonwalker a gift he will never forget. All that and more on this week's file. We closed out the episode with the 'Staff Roll' aka credits theme from Nintendo's 1990-1992 Super Mario World from the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, composed by Hero of Sound Kōji Kondō. Drinking rules: Kev filled the research notes with photos and artwork of the common human penis. Many, many hogs. These hogs were not directly referenced in the research, they were just hanging around. Every time Mr Moonwalker commented on any such image, he had to do a shot aka a mini-Moonie. Simply put, AI is an algorithmic problem-solving process confined to pre-programed computational parameters. In less technical terms, making chocolate chip cookies in strict adherence to Grandma's recipe is an example of rote conformity vs authentic cheffery. AI proponents embrace the concept of evolutionary materialism in which machine-induced computations represent the next logical progression to greater intelligence. There is a very realistic apprehension that we are falling lock-step toward Hollywood's predictively-programed Terminator world. The stark realization of an overly compliant, functionally-illiterate and device-addicted populace portends an ominous prognosis, but efforts to supplant human consciousness with AI has sparked a Spiritual revival. Acclaimed author, James Tunney, returns to Alfacast to further elaborate on our prior Transhumanism discussion through the context of his latest work AI-posthumanism: A Cryptic Soap Opera. In James own words: "Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a phenomenon has now penetrated the universal consciousness. It is pervasive, persistent and potentially our end as well. Posthumanism describes and promotes the diminished and disappearing human in the world of emerging AI. AI and posthumanism are really two arms of a pincer movement that will be applied to the human race through smart systems which will enclose us. AI-posthumanism indicates a phenomenon of a technological movement and its philosophical description. AI-posthumanism was planned for more than a century at least. Both elements of AI-posthumanism are calculated to deconstruct and reconstruct us. We are to be built back better or abolished. We are in a game. You and all your race are the prize. The reason why most are unaware is because of the essentially cryptic nature of the forces that intend to govern us, globally at a collective as well as an individual level. AI-posthumanism aims to take your spiritual consciousness or soul. A deep sense of cleaning up humanity to enter the technocractic society will alter us fundamentally." Limited word space here now. Story of my life in the cyber realm, always 568 characters too many, which is shite when you think about it. Life is longer than a soundbite. Six movies today, let's go! (Mind Snatchers 1972) is a movie about the military doing mind experiments on violent jerks starring Christopher Walken, and Cohaagen from Total Recall. (The Car 1977) is a movie about how a hick town deals with a demon possessed car that enjoys killing, and it stars the cool lady from skateboard the movie, Josh Brolin's Dad, and Crappy Captain Jellico from Star Trek the next generation. (Julia 1977) is a movie about early anti fascist activists fighting back against the Nazi's, and starring Barbarella, and Vanessa the Red. (Lady of the House 1978) is a movie that tells the true story of Sally Stanford played by Dyan Cannon, where Fierce ass Sally becomes the first Madam to become Mayor, and all to avoid the red tape of zoning laws so she can build a cool deck. (Laser Blast 1978) is a film about 2 stoners tryin to enjoy the sunshine in southern Cali, but asshats just keep harassing their mellow, enter 1 sweet Laser gun. Laser Blast stars Kim Milford, Kathy Farlye, that awesome guy from ALL the planet of the apes stuff, and a Star Wars billboard! Finally today your decade under the influence crew gives 10's across the board to (Best Boy 1979) it won the Oscar for best documentary, and in their acceptance speech William Shatner was a dick to the film makers, so I kept my vintage STTMP Captain Kirk action figure in my bag that day. Thanks for listening friends, please give us all the stars, and reach out eh. Why not?

Can you make a feature film using practical effects in a way that feels realistic and not “cheesy?” That's what the team behind the film, Snatchers did. Snatchers is a horror-comedy film about a teen girl who wakes up nine months pregnant with an alien. In today's episode, No Film School's GG Hawkins and Jason Hellerman speak with filmmakers Stephen Cedars and Benji Kleiman to discuss: Practical effects - what are they? Adam Schartoff and Joseph Aisenberg join Mike to talk about about the 1969 film The Night of the Following Day. Directed by Hubert Cornfield, the film is based on Lionel White's novel, The Snatchers, where the kidnapping plot was so ingenious that some French criminals used it to abduct the Peugeot heir. Ironically, the film would move the New York setting of the novel to France though it stars mostly Americans like Marlon Brando, Richard Boone, and Rita Moreno. This episode was a request from one of our Patreon donors..
