In this episode of Vinyl Resting Place, we're joined by soulful singer-songwriter Steven Bamidele as he reflects on a formative album in his musical journey—Spoon's Transference. Steven shares how the band's raw sound and songwriting shaped his evolving taste and deepened his appreciation for music. We also talk about the journey of finding artistic identity, especially as a young Black man in the UK, and how those early influences continue to echo in his own work today.Steven was incredibly open about his experiences as an emerging artist, discussing the highs, the challenges, and the realities of carving out space as a creative. It was a real pleasure to have him share his story with such honesty and insight. He's already having an exciting 2025—having just released his stunning new single “The Fool”, and with a number of amazing live shows on the horizon, it's clear big things are on the way.Go and give The Fool a spin you will not regret it! - https://youtu.be/U3L2Qgwfdug?si=_xWqoblHiQqP4S3fIf you want to see more of Vinyl Resting Place you can find all of our previous episodes here: https://vinylrestingplace.buzzsprout.com/Check out our TikTok and Insta too why don't ya:@vinylrestingplacepodHost:Dapo Agiri - @dapo_ag Guest: Steven Bamidele -  @StevenBamidele  #stevenbamidele #spoon #transference #vinylrestingplace #musicpodcast #singersongwriter #musicinfluences #indierock #artistjourney #blackbritishartist #musicalidentity #emergingartist #newmusic2025 #thefool #uklivemusic

Welcome to this weeks episode of QueerabilityToday's episode we are looking into non-binary and the Drag King scene.  Our guest today, is a legendary drag performer Oedipussi Rex. Oedipussi Rex is truly the stuff of legend- i.e, Loud, chaotic and wildly inconsistent. The Beardiest of Drag Barbarians and all around hot mess, this hairy beast has been pillaging his way internationally across the land for longer that he is able to count, leaving piles of eco glitter, wool and the echoes of hardcore kazoo solos in his wake. He is the creator of the monthly Cabaret Gameshow ‘Dragiators', Scartist in residence at the RVT's Pop Horror, and generally has a reputation for bringing acts of mythic proportions and creative facial hair to every stage he stomps haphazardly about on. Just don't ask him too much about his Mum.Epic or Tragic? Today's guest is, TIN. He is a queer Australian pop singer songwriter blazing his way through the UK. Inspired by the boy bands and girl groups of the noughties, TIN loves to create pop music that gives you all the feels. TIN's lyrics are often about his misadventures as an outlandish gay creative just wanting to inspire and move people.Prior to the pandemic, TIN toured Europe with over 20 shows in six different countries, during which time was sponsored by international underwear brand, Andrew Christian. He has since released cover music videos for two of his childhood favourites - Viva Forever by the Spice Girls and Bye Bye Bye by ‘NSync. 2021 marks his first original release in three years to celebrate Pride month with his dance track, Firm. This will be the lead of several original tracks for his upcoming EP, Sex Cologne and Cigarettes which he has dubbed his ‘stories of being a f**k boy in pop music form'."I like to write about real life things: experiences that everyone has, but sometimes don't have a means to express. I find great songs maintain a balance of being unique and relatable all at the same time and when people hear this, a connection is made. I strive to have people connect through my music, whether it be with me or with one another"In this episode we discuss:TIN's coming out story and getting into musicQueer music and artiststhe barriers lgbtq+ musicians facewhat does representation mean in for queer people in musicTIN's future and new music releasesMy Take away:TIN is a very passionate artist and a big advocate for LGBTQ+ musicians. He has strong views about the current talent with the LGBTQ+ community. He discusses his concerns regarding talented performers who are losing opportunities due to a mediocre mindset, as well as performers who hold themselves back because they down want to be labelled as a 'queer artist'. Which makes question; "why are we still trying to conform to what is expected of us (LGBTQ+ community) rather than what we want to do?". Happy Halloween! We are joined today by my friend, Dylan. He is a part of the alternative queer gothic scene. He shares his experience with growing up in Catholic rural Ireland and how he discovered a home within the dark alternative scene in London. I enjoyed our discussion about identity within the queer community and the importance of finding your sense of self. As we both came at the topic from very different view points. We share funny stories, anecdotes, and Dylan gives a unqiue perspective on the view of identity.  This is an Across Rainbows production.
