Sexton Blake, Detective 67-08-24 (01) Lillies for the Ladies
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, 23 but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!24 “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? 28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, 29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?' or ‘What shall we drink?' or ‘What shall we wear?' 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.34 “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Sermon Questions:1. Who is your audience? Who do you feel like you perform for?2. What does that lead you to treasure/put your trust in?3. Does God love you as a lavish, caring, master in your mind? If not, what does your heart tell you he is?4. What experiences or emotions make trusting God hard?5. EPISODE 76 - “MEMORABLE OSCAR SPEECHES OF THE GOLDEN ERA OF HOLLYWOOD” - 2/24/2025 Winning an Oscar is a dream for most people who work in Hollywood. But you can't just win the Oscar, you have to have a good speech once your name is called and you head to the podium. There have been some great ones — OLIVIA COLEMAN's funny and cheeky speech hit the right tone and who can forget JACK PALANCE's one-arm push-ups or CUBA GOODING's exuberance? There have also been some bad ones — don't we all still cringe a little at SALLY FIELDS' “You like me” speech? As we prepare to celebrate the 97th annual Academy Award ceremony, Steve and Nan look back on some of their favorite Oscar speeches and why they resonate. So put on your tux, don the gown and jewels, pop the champagne, and join us for a fun talk about … well, people talking. (01:05) Been Stellar - My Honesty (06:08) Gustaf - Starting and Staring (09:02) Bria Salmena - Stretch the Struggle (14:04) Benjamin Booker - LWA IN THE TRAILER PARK (16:52) 青鹿乐队 - 马 Triumph (21:18) Heartworms - Jacked (26:56) Editors - Picturesque (33:15) Lillies and Remains - Muted (37:51) Lillies and Remains - Superior (43:04) Lillies and Remains - Go Back (47:29) Lillies and Remains - Spinning Away (51:24) Lillies and Remains - Falling (57:43) Lillies and Remains - Neon Lights 关注 Lillies and Remains 2025 中国巡演: 《周末变奏》开通豆瓣页面,欢迎标记、点评! → 选曲/撰稿/配音/制作/包装:方舟 → 主题音乐:Yu Su → 题图版式:六花 → 私信/合作联络: 微博/网易云/小宇宙 @线性方舟 → 《周末变奏》WX听友群敲门群主:aharddaysnight

“Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” - Matthew 6:26God has promised to provide, and He is ever faithful. Knowing that is one thing; believing and living by it is another. Taylor Standridge and Chad Clark join us today to launch a brand new tool to help you overcome financial fear and anxiety. Taylor Standridge and Chad Clark (along with Carolyn Calupca) are the authors of the new FaithFi devotional “Look At The Sparrows: A 21-Day Devotional on Financial Fear and Anxiety.” Chad Clark is also the Executive Director of FaithFi: Faith & Finance, and Taylor Standridge is the Production Director of FaithFi: Faith & Finance. Why This Devotional is So ImportantAt FaithFi, we're excited to introduce a brand new resource, Look at the Sparrows: A 21-Day Devotional on Financial Fear and Anxiety. This devotional, authored by Taylor Standridge and Chad Clark, with contributions from Carolyn Calupca, addresses one of the most pressing issues many people face today—financial anxiety. This resource is designed to guide you through the challenges of financial fear, helping you find peace and rest in God's promises.Financial anxiety is a struggle that many people face daily. Whether it's on the Faith and Finance radio program, through our app, or in our community, we hear about it all the time. Financial anxiety isn't just about the numbers in your bank account; it runs much deeper, often affecting us on a spiritual level. This devotional was born out of a desire to help people recognize the root of their financial anxieties and to offer practical, biblical solutions that lead to peace. The Structure of the DevotionalThe devotional is beautifully structured into seven sections, each containing three devotionals. Each section begins with a portion of Jesus's Sermon on the Mount, and the following devotionals build on that theme. The sections cover topics like "You Can't Serve God and Money," "Don't Be Anxious About Your Life," and "Seek First the Kingdom of God."But this devotional is more than just a daily reading. It invites you to engage deeply with the content. Each day includes a Scripture passage, a devotional reflection, questions for deeper thought, a guided prayer, and a pivotal truth to ponder throughout the day. By the end of the 21 days, you'll have memorized Matthew 6:19-34, grounding you in God's Word as you navigate your financial journey. The Design Behind the DevotionalThe design of Look at the Sparrows is as thoughtful as its content. We wanted the design to reflect the experience of financial anxiety and the hope that God offers. The black-and-white theme symbolizes the darkness of fear, while a pop of gold represents both worldly treasure and the eternal hope we find in God. This design is intended to draw you into the devotional, helping you to focus on the themes of treasure, trust, and God's provision.Experiencing Peace Through Trust in GodOne of the key messages of this devotional is learning to trust God with your finances, freeing yourself from the grip of anxiety. We often try to control our financial future, but real peace comes when we trust that God knows our needs better than we do. This devotional encourages you to see God as your ultimate treasure, helping you to release your worries and rest in His provision. How to Get StartedWe invite you to dive into Look at the Sparrows and experience the transformation that comes from focusing on God's promises. You can learn more about this devotional and get your copy by visiting faithfi.com/sparrows.If you're looking for even more resources and want to support the work we do at FaithFi, consider becoming a monthly partner. As a FaithFi partner, you'll receive devotionals and studies before they're available to the public, plus you'll help sustain our radio program, podcast, website, and app. It's a meaningful way to invest in the kingdom work we're doing together. Become a FaithFi partner when you give a monthly gift of $35 or more a month to support the mission and ministry of FaithFi: Faith & Finance. Just go to FaithFi.com/give. We hope and pray that Look at the Sparrows will help you break free from the weight of financial fear and anxiety, guiding you toward God being your ultimate treasure as you find peace and rest in Him. Join us on this 21-day journey, and let God transform your perspective on finances and life.On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I have a question about some faith-based brokerage firms. Many larger, more nationally known firms have a broader spectrum of offerings. I'm wondering if you know of one or where I could find information on one that might be better aligned with faith-based investing or more of a morally conservative values approach in many of their products. My husband is considering retiring in a couple of years, but we just realized that his life insurance is with his job, and we don't have any outside of that. Usually, it is a lot more expensive when you search for it outside of your employer. I'd like to see what other options we have. He was just diagnosed with a health condition that would definitely affect his getting life insurance right now.Resources Mentioned:Look At The Sparrows: A 21-Day Devotional on Financial Fear and AnxietyList of Faith-Based Investment FundsRich Toward God: A Study on the Parable of the Rich FoolFind a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA) or Certified Christian Financial Counselor (CertCFC)FaithFi App Remember, you can call in to ask your questions most days at (800) 525-7000. The Gift of Lillies instead of the condemnation of thorns is our choice to give our brother. Will we hold his errors against him? Or will we offer him the absolution of forgiveness, for thus it will be given to us as well? We are standing before the gates of Heaven with this choicebefore us. Will we enter the gates in this lifetime? Or would we rather keep our grievances toward ourselves and others, and thus stand outside of Heaven, in the hell of our own stubbornness? Will we hold tight to our judgments and condemnations? We must decide. We can waste time, thinking we cannot decide. In this procrastination is the heavy burden of hell kept nigh for us to shoulder. But we can lay this burden down in the forgiveness that is given us as the means to erase the past, and walk with holy gratitude into the reality of our Present. We can do this. We give absolution and forgiveness to our brothers in order to receive it for ourself. No one is "crucified" alone; and no one enters the gates of Heaven by himself. We bring everyone through this lovely gate together. The Law of Total Inclusion applies. HUGS, M&S
MIRACLES FOR YOU Sondra Ray & Markus Ray on A Course in Miracles
This new Chapter 20 is THE VISION OF HOLINESS. Can we enter into a new phase of our acceptance of miracles in our life? This begins the Holy Week of receiving the boon of the Resurrection. Who is it accomplished? There is our "brother" behind the veil of our grievances, our fear, anger, resentment, who is also the Christ. Can we see his true Self? This would be the result of total forgiveness, the Atonement. Can we accept it? Without it would we continue to blame and hurt ourselves, leaving the "stranger" outside of us, in a world of fear, suffering and death. It is up to us to choose the Lillies of Resurrection instead of the thorns of the crucifixion. This is not a hard choice to make, unless we still want to think we "know better."

The Gift of Lillies on this Day of Easter is the recognition that there is no death, and our immortality is guaranteed. Those of us who leave our bodies behind are blessed today, and can enter into the Light of God, and of the Self, God's Son, to meet our true Identity. We give the body this blessing as well, that it served us well as a communication tool we used for awhile to join in Love with our Brothers and Sisters. Let us resurrect into the Spirit, and feel the Joy of Gain, not "loss," in our Vision of our Holiness. May all of those we know who have taken their transition out of the body be blessed in their True Self today, and be given the Lillies of Easter, this day of great Peace and Joy. We can see things differently and offer the Lillies of Easter instead of the "thorns" of "death." There is no death. The Son of God is free. AMEN.

We are extremely excited to have The Sweet Lillies in the studio with us this week on No Simple Road! The Sweet Lillies have incorporated all of their cumulative life-experiences into their music, their songwriting, and their artistry, crafting an uncommonly-beautiful style they have christened 'String Americana" - a nod to the band's all encompassing musical tastes and willingness to experiment with genres. In the midst of one of the craziest storms in decades in the Pacific Northwest the Sweet Lillies were sweet enough to come to the NSR studio to get cozy with us and have a conversation around the life of the band, learning and coming to terms with the need to speak their minds musically with grace and love, the prevalence of magick surrounding our lives, WHat maks us come out of our selves to share our art with abandon, and a ton more! Just how much should one worry about the future? At what point, if any, is it wrong to NOT worry about the future and how you will live when you are old? Just how much does Jesus want us to live in the now? I don't know... seriously.
As we end our week on transcendent peace, today we'll explore what it means to be a person of peace. Jesus refers to his people as “peacemakers.” Would you say that title accurately describes you? What kind of emotion does that word stir up? In a world full of principles like “an eye for an eye,” how can Christians be set apart and different? Today we'll dive into that and more. Our Scripture for today comes from Matthew 5:9. Today's worship is Sparrows and Lillies by Pat Barrett. – Thanks so much for listening to today's podcast, the last in our weeklong focus on peace. If this week was meaningful for you, where you have a greater sense of peace after creating this space than you had before, would you take a moment to write a review? Rating and reviewing this podcast is a critical step in our ability to empower more believers, just like you, to create space for God's presence. And make sure to come back tomorrow, where we'll launch a new series focused on God's desire to be encountered by his people. I really believe God will use this next week to draw you closer to him, and fill your heart with greater measures of expectancy for this time your setting aside. Have a wonderful rest of your day, and may God bless you as you seek him.
Never Did It: The show where two dudes who love movies recommend some to each other that they've never seen before. Brad Garoon and Jake Ziegler have a blast this week drawing lines between the Oscar-winning, delightful Sydney Poitier film Lillies of the Field to modern Oscar bait, and then between Federico Fellini's surrealist masterpiece 8 1/2 to the work of Terry Gilliam, David Lynch, Charlie Kaufman, and Ari Aster. Other movies mentioned in this episode: The Defiant Ones (1958), Brazil (1985), Predator (1987), White Men Can't Jump (1992), Passenger 57 (1992), Cliffhanger (1993), Demolition Man (1993), Blade (1998), Adaptation (2002), Synecdoche, New York (2008), Role Models (2008), Green Book (2018), Dolemite is My Name (2019), Living (2022), Sydney (2022), Beau is Afraid (2023).
Exodus 16.2-15, Psalm 105.1-6, 37-45, Philippians 1.21-30, Matthew 20.1-16; Does every church have a Back-In-Egypt committee? How should we measure things in the church? Is all food holy? Are there truly any wrong decisions? Even when it feels like a decision might be the wrong one -- in the end it's the path you're supposed to be on.

What kind of emotion does that word stir up? In a world full of principles like “an eye for an eye,” how can Christians be set apart and different? Today we'll dive into that and more. Our Scripture for today comes from Matthew 6:9, and today's worship is Sparrows and Lillies by Patt Barrett. -- If you've wrestled with making Bible study a consistent habit of spiritual formation, A Light Unto My Path will inspire and encourage you to drink more deeply from the unending well that is the Bible. A Light Unto My Path will answer these 7 critical questions: Why do we read the Bible? How was the Bible created? Why do we need to interpret the Bible? What is the Bible about? What are the best tools for studying the Bible? What can I learn from others? How can I learn for myself? I love that the goal of this book is not to learn more about the Bible (even though you will), but to better understand the Bible as one of the primary ways God seeks to have a relationship with us today.
