If you're looking for a Workamping job in a location packed with outdoor adventure, cultural attraction, and scenic beauty, Holiday RV Park in Traverse City, Mich., might be the perfect fit.
Today, we head to the shores of beautiful northern Michigan to learn about a Workamping opportunity at a family-oriented RV park and campground just six miles south of Traverse City. Now in its sixth decade of operation, Holiday RV Park sits on 200 acres of wooded land and offers more than 220 full-hookup sites with 50-amp service. Today, I have the pleasure of interviewing General Manager Dennis Tierney. The park boasts of its own private beach, boat launch and a rental fleet of kayaks, canoes and paddleboards. That makes Holiday RV Park a perfect base camp for guests eager to explore nearby gems like Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, wine country and the vibrant downtown Traverse City area. In addition to its natural beauty, the park also hosts regular events like weekly live music, food trucks on summer weekends, and even early Halloween celebrations in the fall. Whether you're into hiking, biking, floating down rivers or simply enjoying small-town charm, Holiday RV Park offers a scenic and active environment that guests and Workampers love. So, if you're looking for a Workamping job in a location packed with outdoor adventure, cultural attraction, and scenic beauty, Holiday RV Park in Traverse City, MI, might be the perfect fit. Dennis hires between six and eight Workamper couples every year, although solo travelers and families are also welcome. The season typically runs from mid-April through the end of October. Workamper couples generally work four days a week on the same shift and get the same three days off together, giving them consistent schedules to enjoy the region. There are three main job categories: office staff, grounds crew and the “clean team.” Workampers are often cross-trained, and Dennis and his team work hard to match assignments with each person's preferences and strengths. Everyone is paid for every hour worked, starting at $13 per hour for first-year workers and $15 for returnees. The compensation includes a full hookup RV site, electric, propane, firewood, discounts at the store and even work shirts. What sets Holiday RV Park apart is the sense of community. There are monthly employee appreciation dinners, potlucks and opportunities to use all the park amenities – including beach access and watercraft – at no cost. Workampers are encouraged to explore the area, from hiking and river floats to dining in Traverse City's acclaimed restaurants. Some even help maintain fun projects like the park's new chipping golf course. If you're interested in joining the team, start by visiting www.holidayparktc.com to learn more. You can email general inquiries to info @ holidayparktc.com or reach Dennis directly at dennis @ holidayparktc.com. Interviews typically begin in early fall, with hiring completed by October for the next season. Today's episode is brought to you by the featured employers at Workamper.com These Workamper Employers have taken the extra step to share some photos and detailed information about their Workamper programs with you. Check them out today! Opportunities exist for solos, couples and families, whether they are full-time, part-time, seasonal or even long-term jobs. Some are income opportunities and others involve volunteering at locations throughout the United States. Go to www.workamper.com/fe to meet the featured employers today. If you are an employer seeking to hire Workampers, then you can learn how to benefit from year-round recruiting by becoming a Featured Employer. Visit www.workamper.com/fedetails. That's all for this week's show. Next time, I will be speaking with another employer with a great opportunity in sunny California. I'll have more details on the next episode of The Workamper Show. Live from the Heart of America—I'm Steve Gruber— Your Soldier of Truth—the Tip of the Spear against socialists—here ready to fight for you from the Foxhole of Freedom—AND—REMEMBER TO THINK while its still legal—this is the Steve Gruber Show— Here are 3 big things you need to know right now— Number One— Alabama is preparing to use a new method to put a prisoner to death—pure nitrogen—to create asphyxiation and death—proponents say its painless but critics disagree— Number Two— 7 tornados in one night—sets a new August record for my state of Michigan—the storms caused at least 5 deaths and left hundreds of thousands in the dark—including me and Ivey for 5 days—I'll get you an update— Number Three— The road to the White House in 2024 is becoming more muddied by the day it seems— On the left the Democrats are facing bigger questions from voters and from the groups that have traditionally supported them— It has gotten so bad that many Democrats are joining together with middle of the road Republicans to create this thing called No Labels—a group that claims to be non-partisan and is looking to field a Presidential candidate next year—the group just announced that it will be holding a nominating convention in April of next year—that will happen in the heart of the primary season—and will give the group a head start of months—because the two major political parties will not hold nominating conventions until the middle of summer— Can that have an impact—Democrats certainly think so and have been belittling the idea of a new party ever since it came into the light—they know that it could bleed off a fair amount of support from people that may have voted for Joe Biden—more so than those that are backing Donald Trump— And there are a host of other concerns coming to light for the Democrats—the economy for one—which they continue to say is doing great—and I will focus on that in a moment—BUT first—it's the groups that the Democrats have taken for granted for as long as I have been alive—that are starting to fracture and leave the left—AND they are leaving because there has been so much failure by Joe Biden and his cast of misfit socialists— Here in the heart of the country—I am talking to people that voted for Joe Biden—that are saying—if they could do it over again—they would have held their nose and voted for President Trump—because for them, no matter how much they may dislike the guy—he got things done—and gas was a buck and a half cheaper a gallon—eggs weren't four and five dollars a dozen and mortgage rates were just over two percent—and today they are at a 22 year high and rising— So when Democrats look to those traditional voting blocks they should be seeing the same thing I am— BIG PROBLEMS— And when the black vote is eroding that is a sign that bad things are happening—BUT why should black voters be expected to vote for any single political party anyway? Why should union workers be expected to support just one political party— I mean look around this is not John F Kennedy's Democrat Party—in fact he would not even recognize this mess that he once led— Yet when it comes to race—the Democrats and their media allies—or more accurately media whores—willing to sell themselves in the name of progress—will sit right there and lie about some very basic things—and they are things that you and I know are flat out false— I mean seriously—how do they think they can sell this swill and get away with it? One of the things that has been happening at an ever faster pace—is the idea of owning a home—is slipping away from young people in America—the mortgage rates as I just mentioned have been driven ever higher by reckless spending in Washington that is met by the Fed raising rates over and over again—so the average 30-year mortgage is now three and a half times higher than it was in January of 2021—I mean that is not a small or simple matter— But there are other things happening—which make it impossible from Whitefish Montana to Lenox Massachusetts to Traverse City Michigan… for kids growing up in these places to even be able to afford to stay there—so what is driving housing prices so high even with interest rates out of control? The answer is three major cash buyers— And with all of this going on—plus the wildfires in Maui or the severe weather in the heartland—where is Joe Biden? He is sleeping on the beach—I'm serious! The old man has been sleeping on the beach for something like 23 out of the last 30 days—and has spent more than 40% of his tim e in the West Wing—on Vacation— No I'm serious folks—

Episode 14 in the series features my recent sit-down with Michigan tight end Colston Loveland reflecting upon his journey to Michigan and his breakout freshman campaign. Loveland reflected upon his rise from recruiting obscurity in Idaho to one of the most coveted tight end prospects in the country. He explained why he chose Michigan despite strong overtures from Alabama and a late push from Auburn (who'd hired Boise State headman Bryan Harsin). He then shed light on his tough transition from Idaho to Michigan as an early enrollee. The conversation then turns to freshman year and his rise up the depth chart. Loveland then highlights his standout performances versus Ohio State and in the Big 10 Championship game. The focus then shifts to offseason preparation, his expectations for next year's offense, and predictions on breakout players. The episode closes with his advice to current standout football recruits from Idaho like Gatlin Bair and his participation in “Wolverine Weekend” at Grand Traverse Resort & Spa in Traverse City Michigan. References are continuously made to its similarities to other types of fly fishing like dry flies and spey swinging that a illicit a taking intercept response from the fish to complete the chase are all in this 3 hour and 45 minute comprehensive discussion. The streamer's evolution from Jennings/ Welch/ Stevens/Lefty/ Clouser/ Shenk/ Dahlberg etc.- to the Traverse City Michigan ground-zero Troutsman masterpiece theater of Kelly Galloups's/Bob Linsenman's first streamer bible revolution are discussed-which inspired every new age streamer designer with names like Tommy Lynch, Michael Schmidt, Russ Madden, Lafkas, Jac Ford, Senyo, Chocklett etc. Along with the early saltwater influences from designers like Mark Sedotti, and so many more names too numerous to mention here you have the complete anthology of the modern streamer design. In the trout world it is all an honor and testimonial to the ultimate poster child of the new big articulated meat hunt and addiction from Michigan's Northwood's, to the White River in Arkansas to Montana and everywhere in the world they are found : the magnificent Truttasaurus leviathan brown trout - “the king of the savage kill", that host Supinski wrote about in his Brown Trout Nexus book - enjoy! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/hallowedwaters/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/hallowedwaters/support

So Much More: Creating Space for God (Lectio Divina and Scripture Meditation)
Bette Dickinson is a prophetic artist, writer, and speaker who invites audiences to connect with God through visual parables of the spiritual journey in her ministry Awakening the Soul. One was a statement of human limitations – I am a virgin. The other was a statement of surrender – I am the Lord's servant. These statements led Bette to reflect on her own human limitations and posture of surrender.-We discussed how Bette's book was developed amidst a cohort of women who prayerfully discussed and developed their unique contribution to the Kingdom. They played an Elizabeth-like role for each other - similar to how Elizabeth encouraged Mary. -We talked about how Luke, a researched and thoughtful physician, used story over facts to tell the story of Jesus birth and how this points to our need to connect both our right and left brain to the story of Scripture.-Bette also noted that Luke centered his entire birth narrative around Mary and Elizabeth… and yet we often don't hear this story in a way that highlights these two women and the critical role they played.-Bette introduced us to the concept of Visio Divina – where it came from and why it can be a meaningful practice. She highlights art as a way to help us slow down and connect to the story of Scripture in a different way.You can connect with Bette at: www.bettedickinson.com.And follow her on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bette_dickinson/If you want to be guided in free a Visio Divina experience, text WONDER to 55444 and follow the prompts. Special Guest Mike Kent stopped by to talk to Rob and Danny about Traverse City, MI.When asked what separates Traverse City from other places families can travel, Mike says that hands down it's the people that make the difference. Traverse City has all the attributes of a larger city with more natural beauty. Mike talked about some incredible biking paths and walking trails in the area. He also touted Sleeping Bear Dunes which was recently tabbed by Good Morning America as the most beautiful spot in the US. WineriesMike was excited about the over 40 wineries in the area and mentioned how Traverse City is on the 45th Parallel which is the same parallel as some of the finest wineries in France and Italy. These wineries are family-friendly with plenty for kids to do. Year-Round TownTraverse City is not just a summer town. Obviously, during the summer months, there are fantastic beaches and festivals for families to enjoy. Fall brings a breathtaking change of colors. Winter offers downhill skiing and snowmobiling with springtime bringing rebirth and the blooming of hundreds of miles of Cherry Trees.BeachesOne of the most interesting things Mike mentions about the beaches in the area was that, yes, there are miles and miles of lifeguarded beaches. But there are also endless trails that have trails branching off to secluded beaches. Chris Fredrickon was presented with the opportunity of a lifetime when he stumbled upon his family's secret distilling patents. In 2012 he started distilling using these patents as a guide, and thus TC Whiskey Co. was founded. Nearly a decade since finding those distilling patents, Frankie and Joey have the pleasure of sampling some products using those same whiskey distilling techniques.
Mayor Jim Carruthers is the consummate public servant. He has served the citizens of Traverse City Michigan as commissioner on the parks and recreation commission and city council, and was elected Mayor in 2015. His love and passion for his hometown shines through in everything that he does however it has not come with challenges. Being Mayor of a small but growing city brings with it the challenges on local issues such as housing affordability and environmental conservation. Traverse City has become a sought after vacation and tourist destination but how does a Mayor balance that against the desires of the local residents? We also spoke to Jim about how a kid from Cincinnati, Ohio and the University of Connecticut ended up settling in Traverse City over two decades ago and how a Supreme Court decision in 2015 changed his and his partner's (now husbands) lives forever. In addition to his advocacy for his hometown as Mayor, Jim is also deeply involved in the gay and human rights movement in Northern Michigan.
Matt Report - A WordPress podcast for digital business owners
Matt Medeiros continues Season 8 with the third roundtable episode talking to Naomi Bush, Brad Williams, and Rebecca Gill. Matt discusses a recent podcast with Matt Mullenweg and Kara Swisher where he says that he is staying with WordPress for the rest of his life. WordPress powers 31% of the Internet and this panel discusses how there are still so many options for people needing consulting advice and support in the WordPress space. Listen to this episode: Matt Report - A WordPress podcast for digital business owners Finding opportunity while WordPress is changing Play Episode Pause Episode Mute/Unmute Episode Rewind 10 Seconds 1x Fast Forward 30 seconds 00:00 / 00:39:03 Subscribe Share RSS Feed Share Link Embed Download file | Play in new window | Duration: 00:39:03 Watch this episode: Brad Williams – Builds sites with WordPress and runs a company called WebDevStudios.com. (0:33) Rebecca Gill – Owns a WordPress agency called WebSavvy Marketing that is located in Traverse City MI. Rebecca is an SEO Consultant and provides a lot of education about SEO. (0:50) Naomi Bush – runs a company called Gravity Plus. She builds products to help people do more with Gravity Forms. (1:03) Changing WordPress Marketspace: Naomi – Has a focused product centered around Gravity Forms in her business. Ninja forms keeps up with the changes and offers an inexpensive forms solution for WordPress users. There are a lot of people that wanted to get into the WordPress “gold rush”. Even though there is a lot of competition in WordPress it still has a broad ecosystem. (2:23) Rebecca– would not consider going back into a market with stock themes. She would consider the plugin market. You need to think carefully about the saturated theme market and support that comes with Themes. There is not a lot of money in that market anymore. (2:56) Brad – There is saturation in the WordPress market. There are many agencies and freelancers that build websites using WordPress. (4:05) Future of WordPress: There has to be an effort to simplify the WordPress experience. Brad – WebDevStudios is 100% WordPress. They can have applications that evolve using APIs and integrate with other systems. They are always looking at what is new and interesting but they still plan on building on WordPress. (5:51) Rebecca – Many businesses are coming to agencies after they have flopped on an in-house experience. They are looking for external expertise. People are realizing that they have made a big mistake sometimes after their SEO drops on a redesign and their traffic has changed. (12:15) Naomi – Gravity forms has been waiting for the new editing experience before making a lot of changes. Add-ins will need to integrate with the software. Naomi has seen that different 3rd parties to plugins have had different approaches to blocks. She will wait to see how this changes in newer releases. (17:16) Brad – Automattic is in the business to make money. There is a new verticle for blocks with vendors. Website builders will need to make a decision on what they use. Brad does not feel that Gutenberg WordPress users will have an advantage in the development space of WordPress. You still need a design eye when creating websites so it is nice to be able to use structured themes when you can. He fears that the impact of Gutenberg may influence the reputation of WordPress. (14:15) Opportunities for Growth in WordPress: Rebecca – a freelancer or small business agency can concentrate on Gutenberg support for users. Many clients will just want somebody to do the work and not want to learn the blocks themselves. There will always be service opportunities for SEO with website audits and training. (21:15) Training: Rebecca uses Learndash and WooCommerce for courses. She uses GoToMeeting for group or one on one training. There are still clients that just want you to do the work and will pay for that. (27:21) Naomi – Pick a space to specialize and find a niche if you can. Understand your customer and provide a solution for what they need. (22:39) Training: Naomi creates field guides and links to relative documentation for her customers. (28:36) Brad – freelancers will need to understand their WordPress product and also the customer. Many WebDevStudio customers have not shown an interest or desire to know what Gutenberg is about. The Gutenberg discussion has brought the conversation to using page builders like Beaver Builder. (23:54) Training: Documentation with screen sharing is provided to clients. There is training provided around user permissions for clients so they can understand how to add a user who can safely navigate the site. The more information you provide to your clients, the better off they will be.
