Legal expert Neama Rahmani, a former federal prosecutor and president of West Coast Trial Lawyers, has analyzed Sean "Diddy" Combs' defense strategy amid his serious legal challenges. Rahmani emphasizes that Combs' primary defense hinges on demonstrating that all sexual encounters were consensual. Given that the allegations involve adults, establishing consent is crucial to countering charges of sex trafficking and related offenses. Rahmani notes, "The only chance he has of winning this case is if witnesses testify and jurors believe that it was consensual."However, Rahmani acknowledges the significant obstacles Combs faces in this defense. The prosecution reportedly possesses substantial evidence, including video recordings of the alleged incidents, which could corroborate the accusers' claims and challenge the consent argument. Rahmani points out that such evidence is compelling, stating, "Witnesses can lie but a video never lies."This suggests that overcoming the prosecution's case will be challenging, as the available evidence may undermine the defense's assertions of consensual interactions. In this episode, we hear from Mr. Rahmani as we continue to navigate our way through the case against Diddy. Sean Combs, AKA “Puff Daddy”, “P. Diddy” and “Brother Love”, is credited with the development of several big-name hip-hop artists including Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige, and Usher. But Diddy's own music career is just as impressive, with 11 number-one singles, 14 nominations, and three Grammy awards. In addition to Combs' label, Bad Boy Records, the rap mogul co-founded the network Revolt TV and hosts several businesses under the umbrella company Combs Global. At Forbes' last estimate, Combs had a net worth of roughly $1 billion. On Monday, large teams of law enforcement led by Homeland Security Investigators raided 3 homes belonging to Sean “Diddy” Combs in Los Angeles and Miami as part of a sex trafficking investigation stemming from accusations leveled against Combs in 5 separate lawsuits brought against him. The latest suit filed in February by music producer Rodney ‘Lil-Rod' Jones details frequent drug use, a shooting, and several accounts of sexual assault while working with Combs on “The Love Album.” In the 73-page document, Jones claims that Combs forced him to solicit sex workers and perform sex acts with them as Combs' looked on. Jones also alleges the rapper threw parties he called ‘Freak Offs', during which underage girls and sex workers were given laced drinks and assaulted. Combs' son Justin, producer Stevie J, and associate Brendon Paul, allegedly supplied the women and drugs for the parties. The suit goes on to say that Combs' access to major celebrities, athletes, and even British Royals, such as Prince Harry, gave him and his followers “legitimacy.” Two of Combs' sons, Justin and King Combs, are seen outside in handcuffs while investigators carry evidence out of Combs' $35 million Los Angeles mansion. The two men were later released and seen gathering belongings before leaving the residence. Combs was in the Miami area during the raid and was stopped at Opa Locka airport with family members and friends. Feds seized Combs' phone while a member of his party was arrested on unrelated drug charges. The rapper's current whereabouts are unknown. Danelo Cavalcante has been found in a shed behind a business with a focused search area. Late last night, a DEA airplane used thermal imaging to direct police to the ground to Cavalcante's hiding place. Police announced in a press conference this morning that shortly after 8 a.m., tactical teams converged on the area, using the element of surprise. Before Cavalcante realized it, he was surrounded. The double killer began to crawl through an underbrush and a canine unit was unleashed. Cavalcante was bleeding from his head when he was taken into custody. The intriguing and disturbing case of James Craig, a Colorado-based dentist accused of murdering his wife through poisoning, recently became the focal point of the podcast "Hidden Killers." Joined by a former federal prosecutor and co-founder of West Coast Trial Lawyers, Neama Rahmani, host Tony Brueski examined the case's harrowing details and the alleged perpetrator's motivations. Poisoning is not the most common method of murder, but according to Rahmani, it's seeing a resurgence. High-profile poison cases are increasingly reported, with perpetrators often turning to this dark and treacherous method. Often, the victims are spouses, making the act particularly horrific and insidious. The case of James Craig stands out because of the peculiar sequence of events. The move to allegedly poison his wife was made shortly after he initiated a new relationship with another woman. Instead of the lengthy affair typically associated with such cases, Craig's decision was instantaneous and chilling, prompting Rahmani to speculate that this impulsive reaction could indicate deep-seated emotional instability. Further complicating the case, Craig's girlfriend claimed to be oblivious to his marital status. Allegedly, he misled her into believing that his marriage was ending, setting the stage for their relationship to commence. But once the romance was initiated, Craig allegedly began his campaign to poison his wife almost immediately, suggesting a disturbingly quick transition from infatuation to a plan of lethal action. Interestingly, despite the brief duration of their relationship, Craig even called upon his new girlfriend for emotional support as his wife lay dying in the hospital. This level of indifference suggests a severe detachment from the reality of his actions and the implications of his infidelity. Examining the case's legal aspects, Rahmani highlighted Craig's uphill battle. The evidence against him, particularly his incriminating internet search history linking him to searches for potassium cyanide, paints a damning picture. The defense team, however, will aim to identify mitigating factors that might lessen Craig's sentence, though the prospects for a full acquittal seem slim. A pivotal aspect of Craig's trial will be the jury's perception of his actions. Unlike crimes of passion or violence involving firearms or knives, poisoning is a calculated act requiring careful planning and execution. The intentional nature of such a crime may incite further revulsion among jurors, potentially sealing Craig's fate. As this gripping case unfolds, Rahmani emphasizes that juries often have little sympathy for those accused of poisoning due to the calculated, drawn-out nature of the crime. In this case, Craig's allegedly ongoing infidelity, significant cryptocurrency losses, and the alleged repeated attempts to poison his wife's workout shake all contribute to a portrait of a man who may struggle to gain the jury's empathy. In March 2011, a trained drug detection dog at the San Ysidro port of entry alerted Customs and Border Protection Officers of contraband in Laura's newly acquired 2003 Chevy Tahoe. U.S. border officials found nine packages of methamphetamine with a street value of $130,000 in a modified shell of the vehicle's radiator. In spite of the defense's attempts to portray Laura as a successful businesswoman who was tricked into being a blind mule by an employee who had access to the car the day before, Neama Rahmani presented evidence that convinced the jury that Laura was, in fact, guilty of trafficking methamphetamine. In 2012, Laura was sentenced to more than 12 years in jail. Click Here to Read/Download the Trial Documents Guest Bio: Neama Rahmani Neama is the President and co-founder of West Coast Trial Lawyers.
