As someone involved in grant writing and funding, I appreciate how Christina addresses the real issues that need to be discussed in the nonprofit and social entrepreneur world. One of the best aspects of this podcast is Christina's ability to bring out the best in her guests. The podcast provides immediately useful information that can be applied to various aspects of running a nonprofit or being an executive director. As for the worst aspects of this podcast, it's difficult to find any major flaws. However, some episodes may not resonate with every listener, as they are focused on specific topics or industries within the nonprofit sector. Ever pour your heart into a campaign, emails sent, donors hyped, and an event planned, only to hit a wall? Donations stall, goals aren't met, and suddenly, it feels like you failed. This episode is your permission slip to pause, reflect, and bounce back stronger. In part two of the mindset series, I'm sharing a concept I coach clients on weekly: The 7-Minute Rule. It's the strategy that helps nonprofit leaders recover from fundraising flops without spiraling into shame or burnout. Because the real issue isn't that you missed the mark—it's that no one taught you how to process the disappointment and evaluate what's next. You know that moment when someone doesn't reply to your email, or a donor backs out, or you get an unsubscribe notification—and suddenly, your stomach drops? Rejection stings—it hits hard and can hijack your momentum fast.In this episode, I'm sharing something I've been coaching on behind the scenes: The 7-Second Rule. It's a mindset tool to help you handle rejection—ghosting, “no thank yous,” radio silence, without falling into a spiral that slows your mission down. Because the real issue isn't the “no.” It's what happens in the seven seconds after. That's when your inner critic gets loud, your confidence dips, and you start playing small. Your campaign launched strong—emails out, ambassadors ready, social posts scheduled. And then the momentum vanished. That moment when things slow down, energy dips, and you start asking, “Where is everybody?” If it feels harder to move donors right now, you're right. The game has changed. Campaigns that used to work aren't hitting the same, and it's not because your cause isn't worthy. It's because “good enough” no longer cuts it. Your donors are behaving more like consumers. They need urgency, energy, and movement. In this episode, I'm walking you through why campaigns stall—and what to do instead. You'll learn how to spot the stall before it happens, how to inject new momentum when the buzz dies down, and why donor fatigue is often a leadership energy issue in disguise. Send us a textToday, we're going to talk about formality and how it's keeping your funding stuck and it's keeping your superfans from even finding you in the first place. Very often organizations come to me with a growth goal, whether it's revenue growth, whether it's programmatic, whether it's talking to the same donors and same followers online – and I often find that their efforts feel very stale and engagement is very low. When I audit their current efforts, I look at what they are doing and notice time and time again that it's often very formulaic, very safe and very similar to other organizations. It falls in the bucket of what we call “best practices.” Sometimes formality feels like a necessity, but what it does is create a barrier between you and your supporters. They're not seeing that you're for them so they're not magnetically attracted to your stories, to your fundraisers, to your events, because it just seems kind of bleh. This is a huge symptom of you being in what I call the Zone of Indifference. So throughout this episode, you'll learn how to overcome your fear of standing out to move out of the zone of indifference to create a campaign that not only meets but suppresses your fundraising goals. Topics:Recent Purpose & Profit Club™ client wins that Christina is celebrating and the takeaways (and mindset) you can apply based on their success The most common places Christina sees formality showing up and how it's holding more donors back from coming your way Writing from the 1:1 POV to break free from formulaic content and foster more engagement with your audience/donors (and examples from big brands)How the fear of standing out and breaking the status quo is often at the core of formality and how to overcome them Examples of how centering truth and vulnerability have created huge success for certain thought leaders/brandsFor a full list of links and resources mentioned in this episode, click here.Connect with Christina on Instagram: @splendidconsulting>> Click here to get the free guide on meThink you've reached out to “everyone” in your network? Send us a Text Message.I'm coming to you after just arriving home from my month-long trip to Panama, blending remote work with family vacation. I thought I would share the mixed reactions we received about our adventure and relate this to how organizations often face skepticism when trying new ideas. The main theme revolves around the concept of how thoughts become our reality and how our beliefs drive our actions towards achieving goals. I'm touching on the think-feel-do cycle, illustrating it with inspiring examples like athlete Anna Hall's use of affirmations to qualify for the Olympics. I also share a cautionary tale from a local restaurant in my neighborhood that failed due to poor marketing strategies, highlighting the importance of proactive customer engagement. Through these stories, I emphasize the power of positive thinking and visualization in overcoming challenges and achieving success. If you're ready to become the hero of your cause rather than being stuck in resignation, this episode is for you.Topics:How your thoughts become your reality and can positively or negatively influence growth, funding, and visibility. The think-feel-do cycle and how this cognitive-behavioral concept affects goal achievement. How to use affirmations and visualizations to achieve your goals (inspired by olympian, Anna Hall)Two of the biggest lies you can tell yourself when it comes to being loud in your marketing The power of doing just one thing for your cause every day and how this creates more inspired action Putting your biggest fans and supporters at the forefront of your decision making for your organization Getting away from resignation and frustration and centering yourself as the hero of your causeFor a full list of links and resources mentioned in this episode, click here.Connect with Christina on Instagram: @splendidconsulting >> Free Class on August 20th
