Today on The Cannabis Connection Show, we welcome our second guest and installment into our local music showcase, Herb Daly. HERB DALY, a longtime resident of the beautiful Santa Cruz area, has shared his lifelong love of Jamaican music for almost 5 decades. First visiting Jamaica in 1976, he ended up living there for the better part of a year, meeting and working with many of the island's top artists and musicians, and laying guitar on a number of tracks in the main Kingston recording studios. Since then, he's been an integral part of several seminal reggae ensembles such as the otherwise all-Jamaican Rastafarians, all while raising a family and serving his community. Realizing how crucial the bass is to the Jamaican sound, he switched from guitar to bass and has never looked back. Decades of working with Jamaican and West Indian musicians taught him to “come correct” with their music, and he has been passing on his knowledge and experience to the younger generations of aspiring reggae musicians.
