"What Has Always Been / Radicle, not Radical" (Season 4, Episode 3), the newest episode of our season, dropped Monday, May 20. We called to the Bimah composer, playwright and teacher Bronwen Mullin (she/her) and rabbi, writer, teacher, and theater artist Nicole Fix (she/her). Based in West Philly, Bronwen and Nicole are the co-founders of the Rabbinic Arts Company, a unique initiative that integrates rabbinic training with theater arts. Their work explores the intersection of Jewish tradition, contemporary performance, and social justice. We spoke with Bronwen and Nicole about their journey of bringing together their rabbinic and artistic paths. They shared insights into their process of adapting Jewish texts for the stage in ways that are both deeply rooted in tradition and radically contemporary. We discussed their vision for a "modern-day practice of rabbinic arts" and how they aim to cultivate a global appreciation for Judaism through their work. As queer Jewish women, Bronwen and Nicole also reflected on how their identities shape the stories they tell and the communities they serve. We explored the Rabbinic Arts Company's dual mission of training artists and producing work, and how they see these goals supporting each other. Looking ahead, Bronwen and Nicole shared their excitement for the future of Jewish theater and scholarship. They discussed where they see potential for innovation in Jewish theatre-making and rabbinic leadership, and how they hope the Rabbinic Arts Company will evolve to serve that vision. "On the Bimah" continues to illuminate the heart, soul, and diversity of contemporary Jewish theatre, guided by your host Danielle Levsky. This podcast is an Alliance for Jewish Theatre program, produced by Danny Debner and Danielle Levsky. Our theme music is by Ilya Levinson and Alex Koffman, and our logo is by Alize Francheska Rozsnyai.

Her role involves helping the company grow and scale sustainably. Wayne is VP of Engineering at GitLab, focusing on security, growth and machine learning. Their primary objective is increasing “revenue via growth experiments and growth hacking and also apply machine learning to make teams customers more efficient.” Brent is the Managing Director of Software and Technology at Radicle. “Our purpose is to help people find the balance between people, planet and profit, specifically around inventory and reducing their greenhouse gas emissions,” he tells Etienne. Some ideas you'll hear them explore are: Who are you bringing to the table when you sit at the table? Having a strong network means that you bring more than just your expertise; you're also bringing all the people you know and have influence over. You can get objective feedback on new ideas from your network and enter new places at a high level of trust. Maintaining a network of professionals who are as invested in personal development as you are is like “crowdsourcing mentorship”. Relationship building is everything in networking. “My network always wins,” Erin says. “That network is such a big part of my value as a leader … my network supersedes any job I have, because it is continuous across my career whereas I may work for a company for a period of time.” “A healthy network creates knowns and predictability or removes uncertainty.” One way to keep relationships strong is to watch what you say publicly. How to measure the health of your network. The power of community and group discussion. Using a personal Slack channel to keep in touch and simultaneously help one another expand their network. Our appologies the first few minutes after the introduction we experienced some technical difficulties bu once resolved the show went great. An informative and inspiring conversation with Blair of Radicle Herbs.Blaire is from Venice Beach CA, and went to Otis art school. Becoming aware of the way textiles are produced she became interested in agriculture getting her start on a Biodynamic Farm on the island of Maui. This experience forever changed her life and solidified her down the path of agriculture. She then apprenticed on a Biodynamic Farm in Sacramento, Raphael Gardens, located at what was then, Rudolf Steiner College. After this apprenticeship she wanted to try farming on her own and landed in Covelo.Daniel is from Massachusetts and also started farming in Hawaii, landing a job on a lettuce farm on the Big Island. Returning to the mainland he volunteered on a few different farms in the Eugene OR area before starting an apprenticeship at Live Power Community Farm, a horse powered Biodynamic vegetable CSA located in Covelo.Their paths came together when they met at the farmers market in Covelo and from here they embarked on an agricultural endeavour together, getting married and starting a family. With the help of Blaires parents they now are responsible for 60 acres consisting of hay fields, a woodlot, and about 2 acres under cultivation of vegetables and cannabis production. In 2018 they won the Regenerative Farm Award at the Emerald Cup with two other farms. They are currently Sun + Earth and Dragonfly Earth Medicine Certified. They had recently dropped their Demeter certification due to extensive paperwork and financial restraints but still very much practice Biodynamics. This year they will be featured in a documentary featuring two other farms (Greensource Gardens and Briceland Forest Farm). The film is a journey through a year in the life of these three family farms cultivating cannabis, food and community in the pursuit of a regenerative future.
