Another #maxfundrive bonus episode for you! Thank you to everyone who has boosted or become a #maxfundrive member, it's because of you that we can put out episodes like this. We sat down with comedy writer Andy Bobrow about his sitcom writing rules. Andy is a writer who's script Greatest American Heroes (ep link here) was last year's MaxFunDrive episode. We had an incredible cast for that one including Will Forte, Stephen Root, Rachel Harris, Sam Richardson and more. Andy has written on Malcolm In The Middle, Community, Last Man On earth, Brooklyin Nine-Nine and currently he's been writing for Krapopolis. Recently, he posted some of his sitcom writing rules on twitter that we found to be super spot on and we wanted to talk to him about it. There's a lot of extremely practical advice in this one. Things that can help comedy writers at any level who are maybe stuck on a scene or looking for general things not to do. You can find his list here This is for all writers or fans who are interested in the craft of how comedy shows are written. If you get something useful out of this conversation please consider becoming a #maxfun member at just $5 a month by going to maximumfun.org/donate. Thanks for listening! Enjoy! Whether it's a replacement for alcohol or an addition to it, mixing cannabis cocktails at home is a tasty way to cozy-up for the cold winter months. This episode, we learn how to mix our own apothecary-style cannabis-infused cocktails and mocktails with guest mixologist Warren Bobrow.Best known as the Cocktail Whisperer, Warren is a longtime chef and author of six books, including 'Cannabis Cocktails, Mocktails & Tonics.' He's the CEO of cannabis drink company Klaus, and he's created a delicious hazy holiday mocktail recipe for Different Leaf; the Applesauce and Cannabutter Hot Chocolate, which is on page 74 of the fall 2022 issue of Different Leaf the magazine, available at DifferentLeaf.com.Host Brit Smith asks Warren about common mistakes with at-home drink infusions, what ratio of bud and liquid to use, and how to properly infuse cannabis drinks without ruining the taste. They also discuss the expected effects from drinking weed, how to choose fresh ingredients based on seasonality, and which liquors mix best with a cannabis-infused drink.Follow us on social media @DifferentLeaf and @Different_Leaf and follow host Brit Smith @BritTheBritishBuy any issues of Different Leaf magazine at DifferentLeaf.com or find your local in-person retailer at Differentleaf.com/on-the-newsstandFind our new merch line at XDifferentLeaf.com

In this episode, host David Abrams is in conversation with Josh Berger, Vice President at Norman Bobrow & Co. Josh shares his views on the return to the physical workplace and on the Manhattan real estate market. I loved how Josh expressed his learned belief that ‘there is no one size fits all,' and that every situation is unique. Savvy landlords see that helping their customers to attract and retain tenants is now a priority. While this phenomenon began pre-pandemic, it is certainly a bigger part of the conversation today. The question now is, what is really most important to tenants? Ping pong tables or conference centers? We both agree that Covid has awakened the real estate industry and that we can't do business the way we always had. Josh really impressed me with his commitment to ‘helping people,' particularly during the pandemic and his position that ‘it is never about the commission'. Subscribe to TEN so you never miss an episode of the Tenant Experience Network.

What kind?2. What times you should not be in direct sun2. Wearing a hat - What kind?3. Sunproofing your car4. Wearing sunglasses5. Wearing long sleeve and sun protective clothing6. Eating right - antioxidants to help reduce cell damage7. Knowing your risk for skin cancer8. Taking us into detention centers, immigration courts, and the inner lives of Aida Hernandez and other daring characters, The Death and Life of Aida Hernandez reveals the human consequences of militarizing what was once a more forgiving border. With emotional force and narrative suspense, Aaron Bobrow-Strain brings us into the heart of a violently unequal America in this nonfiction account. "Meet Jeremy O. Harris: The Queer Black Savior the Theater World Needs." So read a recent headline in Out magazine; Vogue anointed him “one of the most promising playwrights of his generation." The hype is understandable. Though still in his final semester at Yale Drama School while this conversation was filmed, Harris has had two plays in production Off Broadway before runaway Broadway success with SlavePlay. Daddy, the second, stars Alan Cumming and Ronald Peet. Joining him on our very own stage to discuss his work and career was cultural critic Emily Bobrow, who observed in the Economist that Harris writes about race and sexuality "with humour, intellectual rigour, nods to pop culture and an engaging sense of spectacle," asking audiences to confront their own complicity in prejudice.Recorded at the Hawthorne barn on June 8, 2019 by Twenty Summers. The dictionary describes the word “exception” as “a person or thing that is excluded from a general statement or does not follow a rule.” But that doesn't always mean you're always lucky, after all if the balance tips in favor of one direction it has to dip back on the other side to balance out. This week, on Pain Reframed, Dr. Ben Bobrow of The Pain Project joins Dr. Tim Flynn and Dr. Jeff Moore! Ben has poured his heart and soul into The Pain Project which focuses on helping those who suffer with chronic pain learn to successfully manage the pain and provide support for one another. Ben shares his experience with pain and The Pain Project. One theme he discusses in the episode is that an abundance of fear and a lack of proper movement really drives most of the problem of chronic pain. It’s a simple solution. Ben, Jeff, and Tim discuss this and quite a bit more, appropriately, following the conversation we had last week with Dr. David Hanscom. Enjoy this episode! I must admit, the idea of a cannabis cocktail did not initially sound appealing. I imagined a couple of buds thrown into a shaker with some vodka that resulted in a grassy, leafy swill that left you zonked.Warren Bobrow has another idea, and it all begins with his passion for quality ingredients and a deep knowledge of how to use cannabis to enhance the effects. He came to our studio shaker and stirrers in hand to show his stuff, and despite our skepticism, the results were impressive. The podcast will give you lots of details, but “The Cocktail Whisperer,” as he unapologetically refers to himself, has boiled down his methodology to three key elements:1. Prep your bud. Bobrow uses decarboxylation (a chemistry term for heating) to convert the THCa and other oils from the plant into a bio-available form. Old school decarb was as simple as heating cannabis for about 40 minutes in 240 degree oven. Today, Bobrow uses a nifty device from Ardent to easily and efficiently decarb his bud.2. Balance: You’ve got to be careful mixing cannabinoids and alcohol, so go slow. Also, keep them crisp and not too sweet—the sugar in cocktails can cause a lot of trouble.3. Use high-quality craft spirits. This is as essential to a delicious cocktail as the supplementary ingredients that Bobrow renders by hand. He squeezes his own ginger juice, for example, and concocts his own bitters. This pursuit requires a demented amount of dedication, but if you’re throwing a party this is one way to make it memorable. This podcast will fill you in on all the details.

Interview with Bentley J. Bobrow, MD, author of Implementation of a Regional Telephone Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Program and Outcomes After Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest
Dr. Joseph Bobrow is an author, psychoanalyst, Zen Master and founder of the Coming Home Project. He falls into the category of people that I am most interested in: the people who never give up and the amazing things they accomplish because of it. We all have choices in life. We can choose to complain, remain steeped in frustration about one thing or another or we can choose to do something about it. Joe Bobrow is one of those people who fall into the latter category. He was frustrated about the lack of services for returning Vets in the Iraq and Afghanistan war when he decided to "do something." He knows all too well how war touches all of our lives but more particularly what happens when we are complacent. No matter what issue you might be facing...Joe is one of the guys to emulate.
I've done a number of interviews on the show with early retirees and early retiree hopefuls. One common theme is that many of them are using traditional retirement accounts but are planning to retire before 59.5. How is that possible without paying a bunch of penalty tax? Today, I share with you the answer to that question. They may not actually take distributions from the retirement accounts. They might pay the 10% penalty tax because it's cheaper than the alternative. They might do a Roth Conversion Ladder They might use the 72(t) SEPP rules. Enjoy the show! When we think of the stuff that dreams are made on, we might think of the spirits that Shakespeare’s Prospero conjures up in “The Tempest”; we might think of stars, rainbows, maybe even wishing wells, but what probably doesn’t leap to mind is a loaf of Wonder Bread. And yet, ever since the invention of the mass-manufactured loaf of white bread in the 1920s, that spongy tasteless loaf has been a way in which Americans have defined themselves and one another. In his new book, White Bread: A Social History of the Store-Bought Loaf (Beacon Press, 2012), Aaron Bobrow-Strain shows us how that familiar slice of white bread is much more than a food. It’s a symbol, one that in its nearly hundred-year-old existence has come to represent “the apex of modern progress and the specter of physical decay, the promise of a better future to come and America’s fall from small-town agrarian virtue.” The history Bobrow-Strain tells us ranges from the immigrant bakeries of turn-of-the-century America to the Cold War to the rise of yuppie and “locavore” eating habits. It’s a history, as he writes, “of the countless social reformers, food experts, industry executives, government officials, diet gurus, and ordinary eaters who have thought that getting Americans to eat the right bread (or avoid the wrong bread) could save the world–or at least restore the country’s moral, physical, and social fabric. Joseph Bobrow is a Zen Roshi, psychoanalyst, and author, who has long been integrating Buddhist practice with depth psychology to create relational settings in which individual and collective anguish can be transformed. Most recently he developed reintegration retreats that helped thousands of veterans, their families, and their caregivers transform the traumas of war and find peace. Joseph and his team at Coming Home Project, a service of Deep Streams Zen Institute dedicated to alleviating debilitating trauma, discovered a process called Turning Ghosts into Ancestors; published research demonstrates how it facilitates post-traumatic growth. Coming Home Project now offers consultation and training to create optimal environments for healing, learning, and individual and social change. Joseph tells the story of his integrative work and its contemporary applications to building peace in Waking Up From War: A Better Way Home For Veterans And Nations, with a Foreword by His Holiness The Dalai Lama. Joseph’s first book was Zen And Psychotherapy: Partners In Liberation, with comments by Ven. Thich Nhat Hanh. After Midnight: Selected Poems, Joseph’s first collection of poems, was published in February 2017 by Fisher King Press. Joseph lives in Los Angeles, CA. and teaches widely.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-trauma-therapist-podcast-with-guy-macpherson-phd-inspiring-interviews-with-thought-leaders-in-the-field-of-trauma/donationsWant to advertise on this podcast?
