What issues can arise on a long haul flight?  The main complaints tend to be irritating more than anything  Becoming dehydrated – can lead to headaches, dry mouth, dry nose  Not being able to sleep, ankle swelling  Cramped conditions, especially in economy class seats!  More serious: deep vein thrombosis – leg clots due to not moving around.     How do we improve comfort?  Really important to stay hydrated - plenty of fluid.  Wear loose fitting clothes – you want to be comfortable.  Carry lip balm or nasal spray to moisten nasal passages if dry - for comfort.  Don't drink alcohol or overdrink alcohol – it can worsen dehydration, headache and interfere with sleep.     Are there issues with food and taste?  At 30,000 feet your taste buds don't' work as well and food tastes ‘bland'.  Also, your nose can dry out which affects taste.  Airlines tend to produce stronger flavoured food such as curries to compensate.  Up to 30% more sugar and salt in food to add to taste.  Don't overeat as we tend to bloat as gas forms in abdomen, which can cause abdominal discomfort.      And sleep?  Carry eye shade and ear plugs, and a neck pillow is a really good idea.  Best thing to do is work out the sleep time at your destination before you go and try and sleep at that time on the flight.  Some use melatonin, a ‘sleep hormone'     How do we avoid blood clots?  Two key things – stay hydrated and get up and move around every 3-4 hours to get blood circulating.  Failing that wiggle toes and bend knees in your seat frequently.  Some choose to wear compression of flight stockings which encourage blood to circulate.  They also reduce ankle swelling!  If you have persistent leg swelling, chest pain or SOB in weeks after a long-haul flight – see your GP!    LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Last time we spoke about operation Se-Go and the continued drive on Finschhafen. The evacuation of Kolombangara, designated operation Se-Go showcased how the Japanese were becoming experts at large scale evacuations. Nearly 10,000 men were safely evacuated from Kolombangara at the cost of some barges. Then in New Guinea, the Allies became aware the taking of Finschhafen was not going to be a cake walk. In fact Wootten sent word to the other commanders that he believed he was facing the full 20th division at Finschhafen. The other commanders were sending their men through the Ramu and Markham valleys finding rearguards everywhere they looked. Rivers and ridges were being taken at a quick pace and Finschhafen was technically seized, but certainly not secured. Now the allies would have to attack the stronghold of Sattelberg. And Today we are going to see some action upon land and sea. This episode is the naval battle of Vella Lavella Welcome to the Pacific War Podcast Week by Week, I am your dutiful host Craig Watson. But, before we start I want to also remind you this podcast is only made possible through the efforts of Kings and Generals over at Youtube. Perhaps you want to learn more about world war two? If you are still hungry for some more history related content, over on my channel, the Pacific War Channel you can find a few videos all the way from the Opium Wars of the 1800's until the end of the Pacific War in 1945.  The Japanese had accomplished another astounding evacuation, managing to pull out nearly 10,000 men from the marooned and isolated Kolombangara. They managed this with limited craft and boldly under the nose of the enemy who enjoyed superiority over land, air and sea. Yet as you can imagine this certainly showcases how the tide of the war in the south pacific had decisively turned. Japanese naval operations were becoming increasingly concerned with evacuating troops as their positions grew hopeless. The campaign for the central solomons was falling apart for Japan, the invasion of Bougainville was imminent. However because of the evacuation of Kolombangara, one of its results would be the establishment of a staging base for barges and landing craft over at Horaniu, the northeast shore of Vella Lavella.  Now in  last episode we spoke about the actions of the Tsuruya unit who were busy delaying Brigadier Potter's New Zealander forces. The Japanese had their backs against the wall at Marquana Bay, holding by just a threat. They had little food or ammunition left with no possibility of re-supply or reinforcements. Despite insufficient resources, Admiral Samejima was determined to rescue the doomed Tsuruya unit. Samejima managed to convince Admiral Kusaka to carry out yet another evacuation, this time of Vella Lavella, slated for the night of October 6th. Before dawn on the 6th, Admiral Ijuin departed Rabaul with 9 destroyers divided into three groups. The first group led by Admiral Ijuin consisted of the Akigumo, Isokaze, Kazagumo and Yugumo. The 2nd group led by Captain Kanaoka Kunizo was aboard Fumizuki accompanied by Yunagi and Matsukaze and a transport unit of 6 barges, 30 folding boats and the transport Usaka Maru. The third group was led by Captain Hara Tameichi aboard the Shigure with Samidare as backup. A fourth group led by Commander Nakayama Shigoroku consisting of 5 subchasers, 3 vedettes and a barge would also depart Buin to help. Ijuin was to be the strike unit, Kanaoka the transport unit and Hara the Guard unit. Ijuin planned to have Kanaoka and Hara standing off Marquana Bay supported by the incoming 4th unit led by Shigoroku. Further support would be given in the form of 8 floatplanes that would try to bomb Potter's men with 20 zeros providing air cover.  During the morning of the 6th, Admiral Wilkinson received reports the Japanese might be attempting an evacuation of Choiseul. At that time his 10th echelon was underway transporting the IMAC advance base to Vella Lavella, leaving the only available force Captain Frank Walker with destroyers Selfridge, Chevalier and O'Bannon. Walker was just returning from a run up the slot passing by the Russells on his way home. Wilkinson sent word to Walker to pay specific attention to the coast of Choiseul as he passed around. During that afternoon, Admiral Halsey sent an alert to Wilkinson that the Tokyo Express was definitely about to make a run, but it was not to Choisuel, instead it was to Marquana bay. Wilkinson dispatched 3 destroyers from the 10th echelon, Ralph Talbot, Taylor and LaVallete with Commander Harold Larson to reinforce Walker around Sauka point to try and intercept the Japanese. Shortly after sending the orders, Walk received further intelligence. At 7:30pm he learnt that an unknown number of destroyers, 3 torpedo boats and 6 subchasers were enroute, expected to be in the area by 10:30 with an embarkation time of 11:30. At 9:02 he was told that possibly 9 destroyers were coming. A few minutes later another report passed on by some B-25's attacking buin stated they spotted 4 IJN destroyers or possibly Jintsu-class cruisers. Thus pretty uncertain of what was actually out there, Walker's crews were warned to expect the worse and they would sound General Quarters by 7pm. 40 minutes later the 938th seaplanes began harassing them. At 9:50 Walker announced over the TBS “When we round the corner close the gap and be ready for anything. I want to get the fish off without guns if possible.” Wilkinson's reinforcements only made it to the rendezvous point by 11:40, leading Walker to have to start the battle alone. Since the days of John Paul Jones, American naval lore had honored and applauded commanders who unleashed bold attacks on superior enemy forces, but in this case Walker would prove to be too rash.  Walker took his force around the north coast of Vella Lavella that night and began scouting the area finding no sign of the enemy. Meanwhile Ijuins strike force followed by Hara and Kanaoka proceeded to their staging point arrived at 10pm. Minutes later a scout plan reported 4 cruisers and 3 destroyers northeast of Vella Lavella on a western course. The plane most certainly saw the Selfridge, Chevalier and O'Bannon coming up the slot but mistook them as cruisers. Ijuin ordered Konaoka to take his group west towards the Shortlands while he and Hara turned back to meet the enemy. However Hara's force were a bit further west and having difficulty due to mist causing lack of visibility. at 10:30 the Americans made their first radar contact of the enemy and 5 minutes later lookouts aboard the Kazagumo sighted the Americans to their south. Consequently, Ijuin had just turned to port heading southwest to cross Walker's bows, but he misjudged the distance and instead opened the range. Walker responded by increasing his forces speed to 30 knots to try and head off the enemy. Upon seeing this, Ijuin changed his course at 10:45 to south-southeast to close the range, then at 10:48 ordered a 45 degree turn south. These maneuvers actually worked to the Americans advantage, and upon seeing he was presenting an easier target, Ijuin ordered another simultaneous turn to port which staggered his ships in line abreast on a course opposite and nearly parallel to Walker with their range rapidly closing. The maneuvering blunder allowed the Americans to pull up to the nearest group of 4 IJN destroyers and launch a half salvo of torpedoes. Most of the torpedoes were fired at the Yagumo which was being mistaken as a possible cruiser. Commander Osako Higashi aboard the Yagumo ordered 8 torpedoes to be launched before the guns began to fire. The Americans opened fire with their guns after the torpedoes turning Yagumo into a burning wreck quickly. Ijuin tried to course correct again going south then west.  But by this point, Hara had just made it to the battle at 11:01 the Americans saw his forces to their southwest and closed in to engage. This put Hara ahead and parallel to Walker giving the Americans the perfect position to launch another salvo of torpedoes. At the same time one of Yagumo's torpedoes hit Chevalier detonating her No 2 Gun Magazine, blowing the ship in two. Her brigade and aft section swung across O'Bannon's path forcing O'Bannon to ram into her starboard engine room. The force of the collision was mitigated by Commander Donald MacDonald who ordered an emergency full speed astern when he saw the explosion on Chevalier. Two minutes later a torpedo, most likely fired from Chevalier, hit Yagumo. At 11:06, one of Hara's destroyers landed a torpedo hit on the Selfridge, shearing off her bow and wrecking everything from the bridge forward. In just 5 minutes, 104 American sailors were dead and 66 were wounded. Both sides continued the brawl, at 11:17 Ijuin still taking a westward course, ordered torpedoes to be fired at what he thought were cruisers, probably the O'Bannon and Chevalier. He received a claim that one was sunk, so he decided to break off the battle and head for home. Meanwhile Geoerge Peckham aboard the Selfridge believed he had been hit by torpedo boats and wildly ordered men to track where they might be. It was an age old naval case of both sides fighting ghosts ships basically. Meanwhile Commander Nakayama's group began to approach Marquana bay from the north and Wilkinsons reinforcements group led by Larson were arriving from the south as well. At 10:55 Larson had received ordered from Walker to execute “William” which was the codename for torpedoes and “dog” was naval gunfire. Larsons group passed Yagumo who was undergoing her death throes and by 11:40 the group was in the battle area. Larson could not make out a contact on enemy ships and by midnight simply headed for Marquana bay, seeing nothing but crippled ships. Chevalier was beyond saving so she was scuttled, Selfridge was able to be repaired by 3:15am and would make a slow but safe journey home. Walker notified COMAIRSOLS they needed air cover as Nakayama's group passed east of the battle area but did not engage. Japanese barges began to load men as the 938ht floatplane harassed the New Zealanders artillery. Many New Zealanders reported hearing naval gunfire and what sounded like barges scraping against reefs. By 3:10am, Nakayama left for Buin with all 589 men of the Tsuruya unit. The Americans captured 74 survivors of the Yagumo who were marooned at Biloa, while 27 others would make their way to Buin using motorized whaleboats. Ijuin had lost 179 men dead with 74 captured. On October 8th, Potter's men determined the Japanese were indeed gone so they began occupying Marquana bay. Thus ended the battle of Vella Lavella.  The 1st battalion, 27th regiment landed at Ringi Cover on southern Kolombangara on October 6th finding 49 abandoned artillery pieces and some scattered Japanese who had been left behind. By October 15th Admiral Hasley declared operation Toenails terminated. Two days prior the Japanese had likewise terminated operation Se-go. Admiral Samejima would be forced to carry the blame for the loss of the central solomons. He went on the record to say this “The relations between the Army and Navy units in this area were extremely harmonious and satisfactory, and the foregoing is due to the character and judgment of Maj-Gen. Sasaki and Rear Admiral Ōta. However, because of my inexperience in commanding land operations, there were times when I failed to dispatch appropriate orders to Maj-Gen. Sasaki in conducting our operations. And the fact that there is evidence that I left the operations up to the arbitrary decisions of Maj-Gen. Sasaki to some degree clearly reveals the folly of placing a Naval Commander like me in charge of land operations involving Army and Navy units.” In the end his forces managed to hold back the enemy for nearly two months and he had pulled off a pretty incredible evacuation. Operation Toenails was a success for the allies managing to secure 4 new airbases at Munda, Segi, Ondonga and Barakoma. These acquisitions would have a huge impact on future campaigns against Bougainville and Rabaul. Admiral Halsey would receive some criticism for underestimating both the terrain and enemy during operation Toenails. Major General Harmon went on the record to say “Munda is a tough nut –much tougher in terrain, organization of the ground and determination of the Jap than we had thought,.  The Japanese agreed; an intelligence report dated 11 August stated that the “reasons for the slow advance of the enemy in Munda, etc, are due to the courage of our forces and the difficult fighting in the jungle.” The allies learned some important lessons such as the necessity of adequate medial support; the implementation of effective evacuation procedures; close air support for ground troops; the effectiveness of naval gunfire support or lack thereof it; and the 3 most effective weapons against the Japanese; the 155mm gun, tanks and dive bombers. These 3 weapons would be put into effect on Bougainville. The central solomons campaign saw 995 US Army, 192 marine and 500 US navy death with 4407 wounded. The New Zealanders and Fijians received 200 casualties. For the Japanese it was estimated 4000 died with 4500 wounded. Now we need to head over to New Guinea. General Vasey's men were preparing for an assault against Dumpu, while being harassed by the infilitration specialists of the Saito Unit. The Saito units had performed infilitrations against Dakisaria and Marawasa. On October 2nd, while the bulk of the 21st and 25th brigades were establishing bridgeheads to cross the Gusap and Tunkaat river. The 2/7th independent company at this time were trying to cross the Ramu into Kaigulin where a Japanese outpost was. The outpost was guarded by the Saito unit, 80 men of the 10th company, 78th regiment supported by the 3rd company. The Saito unit gave them hell, forcing the commandos to cross the Ramu elsewhere trying to hook around their right flank. They managed to pull the flanking maneuver and in the battle killed 6 Japanese. Interestingly Lt R.D Watts decapitated a Japanese using a katana he had acquired in a previous battle, a case of the turntables. I am now realizing when I make this dumb joke many of you might not have watched the office, I must sound even dumber than I am. The following day, Brigadier Dougherty ordered his men to only patrol as he was waiting for Brigadier Eather's forces to assemble in the Bumbum area. Yes, there is a place called Bumbum, I thought Nuk Nuk would be my favorite New Guinea area, I was wrong.  On the morning of October 4th, Dougherty ordered the 2/14th towards Wampun and the 2/16th to capture Dumpu. By 2pm, Captain C.L McInnes lead a company of the 2/14th to find Wampun deserted which was expected. However the men had marched all day in the heat, without any water. McInnes company was sent to Karam to search for water. Another company followed McInnes company soon after and a mile or so out they came across a banana plantation. They saw some troops cutting down banana leaves and assumed it was McInnes men, however these were actually Japanese of the Saito Unit. The forward patrol were carelessly advancing towards the banana plantation when bursts of machine gun and rifle fire hit Colonel Honner and Sergeant Pryor. Pyror wounded in his chin and chest tried to drag his commanding officer back, but Honnor had taken a shot to the leg and could only crawl. Honnor began screaming to his men to figure out the position of the enemy and this led Private Bennet to lead a small party to do so. The Japanese continued to fire upon them and Honnor was hit in his hand to add to his misery. Luckily for them the 2/14th sent a rescue party to extricate Honnor. Honnor was moved to safety by 5pm as Colonel O'Day prepared to attack the Japanese at the banana planation. At 6pm O'day led two platoons to rush their position where they killed 11 troops and a Japanese officers, driving the rest to flee into the jungle. The next morning they would also kill a few stragglers, the action cost 7 australian lives of the 2/14th while killing an estimated 26 Japanese and taking a single prisoner. Meanwhile the 2/16th had successfully crossed the Surinam River without facing any opposition. They sent a platoon ahead led by Lt Scott to check out Dumpu. At 4:40pm he reported back that it seemed Dumpu was still occupied. Major Symington led forward a company to prepare to attack Dumpu, but when they reached its outskirts they could visibly see Japanese fleeing the area. Thus Dougherty's men grabbed Dumpu without a fight. General Vasey believed 78th regiment had failed to relieve pressure on the retreating 51st division, but unbeknownst to him, General Nakano's men were already marching through the formidable Saruwaged range. The range had an altitude of 3000 meters where temperatures fell below 10 degrees. Anyone who tried to start a fire from the moss-covered wood would find it unbelievably difficult. Many men reported heating gunpowder from rifles to start fires. A lot of rifles were burnt away because of this. Their rations ran out quickly, leading to starving men turning upon the dead….and even the living. Private Kitamoto Masamich recalled “seeing three soldiers had pinned a trooper to the ground while one of them stabbed him in the heart with his bayonet. I watched shocked as the remaining three soldiers cut slices of the dead trooper's thigh and began to devour the human flesh. I shouted at them as flies swarmed about their faces… They had become mad with hunger and fatigue.' Kitamoto covered the corpse and moved on. Cannibalism reared its ugly head often for the Japanese, particularly in some parts of Burma by late 1945.  Until now the 7th division was enjoying a pretty uninterrupted advance to Dumpu. The Benabena was pretty secure as well, but General Nakai was establishing strong defensive positions along the Kankirei saddle. This would soon turn the campaign in the Ramu valley and Finisterre range into a gritty holding operation. In the meantime, the allies were being directed towards the FInschhafen campaign, with General Herring ordering Vasey to hold the Dumpu-Marawasa area. There he was to establish a new landing strip at Dumpu and to not make any large advances. Only the 2/27th battalion of Lt Colonel John Bishop would be allowed to advance into the Finisterre foothills. Dougherty hoped the 2/27th might reach Kumbarum within the Finisterre foothills and during a torrential rainstorm they overran the area with no opposition. Bishops men patrolled around and found the enemy was occupying the key feature guarding the exists of the Faria and Uria rivers from some mountains northwest of Kumbarum. Under the cover of rain, Lt King took 8 men to scramble up the feature which panicked the Japanese there causing them to flee without a fight. Thus it was named King's Hill and would become an important tactical position and observation post. Apparently Kings men had come up just when two battalions were changing their troops dispositions, and a platoon guarding King's Hill had retired before even seeing the allied forces. Regardless a company was sent to the Boganon mountain area, that rose some 41000 feet. The torrential rain caused a ton of delays for the construction of the new landing strip. In the meantime the 21st brigade patrolled as much as they could. The 2/16th and 2/14th patrolled west of the Mosia river finding no enemy. On the 6th, the 25th brigade sent patrols in all directions north of the Ramu Valley. They found signs of the enemy recently leaving the Boparimpum area; the same at Koram. Just a bit north of Koram, it looked like there was a Japanese outpost on some high ground. Patrols took care near this outpost as it was expected Japanese snipers were there, but when further prodded it seemed abandoned. The 2/2nd independent company patrolled the area of Sepu towards the Waimeriba crossing of the Ramu finding only signs the enemy had recently vacated the area. A small patrol skirmished with the enemy between Saus and Usini. Kesawai would be found unoccupied on the 5th. Overall it was concluded the Japanese had abandoned the Ramu Valley entirely.  On the 6th, Generals Vasey and Wootten received a signal that the 2/2nd, 2/4th, 2/6th and 2/7th independent companies would become cavalry commando squadrons which did not sit well with the experienced commandos. Since the beginning of 1943, the term “commando” had been increasingly used to describe a member of an independent company. The term was quite alien to the Australian Army, and the tasks undertaken by independent companies since the beginning of the pacific war were not at all like that of what British commandos did. In the short space of two years, the independent companies had built up a proud tradition  and the men regarded the term “independent company” as a much better description of what they did than the terms “cavalry” or “commando” and thus resented the change of title. The next day, Dougherty's 2/16th battalion occupied Bebei and the 2/27th battalion cautiously investigated the upper reaches of the Uria and Faria river valleys. When the men went past the Faria river towards some high ground they suddenly came across a party of 8 Japanese. A fight broke out as they killed 3 of the 8 Japanese receiving no casualties themselves. The Japanese looked to be withdrawing and the Australians dug in for the night in a place designated Guy's Post atop Buff's Knoll. These prodding actions prompted Nakai to order the 2nd battalion, 78th regiment to launch a counterattack against Buff's Knoll. An hour after midnight during a particularly rainy night, a Japanese platoon charged up the knoll. The first attack lasted about half and hour before petering out. The Australian company consolidated around Guy's Post established a defensive perimeter through out the night. However the night attack ultimately failed for the Japanese as they were not familiar with the terrain and the heavy rain made a mess of their advance. On the morning of October 8th, the Japanese tried to push again while the 2/27th consolidated their position in the Faria area. The Japanese barely budged the Australians and on October 9th, Colonel Bishop ordered the company to advance forward astride the main Japanese route going east towards the Kankiryo saddle. The man at Guy's Post followed them an hour or so behind as they skirmished with Japanese towards Trevors ridge and John's knoll. They would kill roughly 11 Japanese as they occupied both Trevors ridge and Johns knoll. Yet this is all for today on New Guinea as we are going to travel back to the CBI theater who we have not talked about in some time. Going way back to 1942, the Japanese empire had been at its zenith forcing the allies to come up with some special operations such as the Chindits. Our old onion necklace wearing friend Brigadier Wingate was running that show, but General Blamey also created his “inter-allied Services Department” known as the ISD. They were a military intelligence unit formed around several British special operations officers who had escaped Singapore before it hell. Inside the ISD later named the Services Reconnaissance Department, a raiding/commando unit was formed called the Z special unit. They were primarily Australian, but also held some British, Dutch, New Zealander, Timorese and Indonesian members. After escaping places like Singapore, and Sumatra, British Captain Ivan Lyon joined the units and became one of their leaders. He devised a plan to attack Japanese shipping in Singapore Harbor. His plan designated Operation Jaywick, called for traversing to the harbor in a vessel disguised as an Asian fishing boat. Then they were to use folboats or folding canoes to get over to enemy ships and attach limpet mines to them. Lyon was promoted to Major and began rigorous training 17th volunteers at Camp X,  a clifftop overlooking Refuge Bay to the north of Sydney. The men worked for weeks digging, breaking rock and clearing scrub around the campsite and parade ground, which worked as prelude to the long, and progressively longer days they would spent canoeing. There were plenty of route marches across rocky hills which Lyon said “consisted of point-to-point walking or scrambling, compass work, stalking and attacks'. The men were tested on elementary navigation, chart reading, tide tables, visual signaling with semaphore and morse and the use of prismatic compasses on land and sea. They trained using a variety of weapons such as Owen sub machine guns, Brens, Lewis guns, all with the view to shoot down enemy aircraft. The practiced unarmed combat, grenade tossing, limpet mining and gelignite. They also received numerous lectures on ship engines. By early 1943, the 17 men had been reduced to 10. They were then given a captured Japanese coastal fish carrier named the Krait which was powered by a Deutz four cylinder engine, had a beam of 11 feet and a range of 8000 miles with a max speed of 6.5 knots. They modified  the vessel to increase her storage capacity. On August 4th, the Krait departed Cairns en route to the submarine base at Exmouth Gulf on the northwest corner of Australia. On September 2nd, Lyon's commandos began their long and dangerous voyage sailing through the Lombok strait to Singapore. None of the men knew about the plan prior to the attack nor their destination.  It was on the third day that Lyon gathered the men to disclose the truth. ‘He said, “Righto, do you know where we're going?”'Some of the men said they believed it was Surabaya in East Java. After Lyon revealed their destination, Moss Berryman recalled ‘They couldn't believe it when they were told they were going to Singapore “to blow up a few ships”'Lyon could see one or two of the men were stunned at the thought of going so deep inside enemy territory. Jones recalled ‘Nobody expected to be going that far and there was sort of talk about how dangerous it was,'. Lyon reassured the men that wasn't the case. ‘This is not a dangerous trip, it's an experience.' But for anyone who didn't fancy it, Lyon said he understood and he would ‘drop you off at the first island we come to and if you're there when we come back we'll pick you up'. It was a smart psychological play as he knew on one would dare lose face in front of his mates. Lyon stared at their faces and they returned his gaze. No one moved. They were all fully committed. Their safety depending on maintaining the disguise of a local fishing boat, so the raiders stained their skin brown with dye to appear more Asiatic, I guess its sort of like the prime minister of my country on Halloween. Cramped on the Krait, the commandos reached the Java sea and passed the south west corner or Borneo getting 50 miles off her coast by September 14th. The enemy's high activity in the area forced Lyon to detour towards Panjang island with the intention of making their way to Durian island. Yet when they approached Durian island they spotted a observation post so they turned back to Panjang which lies approximately 25 miles south of Singapore.  On september 20th, 6 men on 3 canoes carrying 9 limpet mines each departed the Krait enroute to Singapore harbor. The raiders passed through Bulan and the Batam islands on september 22nd, reaching Donas island the next day. On the 24th Lyon sighted 13 sizable ships in the harbor, so he told the men they would be hitting them that night. Lyon distributed cyanide pills to all the men and told them ‘I leave it up to yourselves to decide what you want to do. But I can tell you now that if you get caught you won't have a very good time of it. They're not known for being gentlemen, the Japanese. Don't delude yourselves in thinking you are tough enough to resist interrogation. You could be tortured enough to give away the whole story. You may not be able to do anything about it. Above all, they had to think of their mates on the Krait. If they fell into enemy hands, the Japanese would want to know how we arrived in Singapore' The men rowed through the capricious tide, but it soon forced them back towards Dongas, instead they moved to Suber island the next day. On the night of september 26th, Lyon's raiders departed again, Canoe 1 held Lyon and Huston; Canoe 2 Davidson and falls and Canoe 3 Page and jones. Canoe 2 would hit the north shipping in Keppel Harbor while 1 and 3 would hit examination anchorage and the wharf at Pulau Bukon. Canoe 2 had the strongest men and was given the additional task of returning to Pompong to rendezvous with the Krait  Canoe 2 steered through an anchored ketch on the edge of the main channel, continuing between the islands of Biakang Mati and Tekukor. They arrived to Keppel Harbor and set their sights on a 6000 ton cargo ship sitting low in the water, indicating she had a full load. The found a second target, also a 6000 ton cargo vessel and a third ship of similar proportions, though the last looked not fully loaded. At 1:15am they attached the last of their 9 limpet mines, 3 per ship and made their escape towards Panjang.  The other two canoes had a much easier paddle from Subar. The tide was running east to west, allowing them to go with ease to their target. The paddled together until 9:30 when they separated. At Pulau Bukom an older freighter was mined amidship and around the engine rooms. Then they spotted a modern freighter with engines after and 3 sets of goalpost masts and another 6000 ton old freighter. Over in Examination Anchorage nothing suitable was found, so the raiders mined a tanker even though it was probably impossible to sink with mines. All 4 ships were mined, the men ate some chocolate rations and made their escape towards Dongas. The ships combined comprised around 39000 tons between them. On the way back, the exhausted commandos heard the distant explosions and the chaos that erupted in Singapore. When dawn broke, in Examination anchorage one ship was partially submerged, while two more would sink and 3 were heavily damaged including the tanker Shosei Mary. Canoe 2 and 3 waited until the commotion died down before returning to Panjang, reuniting with everyone aboard the Krait by October 2nd. Their return back to Australia was relatively uneventful, except for one tense incident in the Lombok strait when a IJN minesweeper approached their ship. The commandos remained cool and the minesweeper simply carried on.   The Japanese would retaliate for what happened during Operation Jaywick. On October 10th, the Kempeitai, those are military police of the IJA for those of you who dont know, you can sort of picture the Gestapo, but not quite the same. They went to Changi Prison in Singapore and began reading out a list of civilian names. These named men were taken away for interrogation, torture and in many cases execution. Over the course of 6 months, 50 Europeans and Australians suffered a brutal inquisition. They were beaten with knotted ropes, electrically shocked, had nails driven into the feet, the old cigarettes burnt onto their hands, arms and on their genitals ouch. They were waterboarded and in total 16 men would die. But no credible information was taken from any of them. The Japanese were far more brutal to the Malays and Chinese. Countless were tortured, interrogated and many executed with their severed heads put on posts around the city. After it was all said and done the Kempeitai filled a report speculating the raid had been carried out by two chinese and one Malay. They didn't believe it and their superiors did not either. The 6 months of horror is known as the Double Tenth Massacre.   There was another unit formed known as the M special Unit, which was a joint Australian, New Zealand, Dutch and British reconnaissance unit formed as a successor to the Coastwatchers. Their role was to gather intelligence on Japanese shipping and troop movements. To do this, small teams were landed behind enemy lines by sea, air and land. One of their first operations was Locust led by Lt Jack Fryer. A group of 4 men departed Benabena overland on January 21st and advance to Lumi airstrip. They formed a base camp thee and began observing the Japanese. In conjunction to Locust was operation Whiting, which was a team of 5 Dutchmen led by Sergeant Huibert Staverman who also departed Benabena to establish a coast-watching station in the hills above Hollandia, reaching Aitape by mid september. Unfortunately the operation would be a catastrophe as the Dutch were ambushed around Aitape. Sergeant Staverman, Corporal D.J Topman, privates H Pattiwal, M Reharing and radio operator Sergeant Len Siffleet were publicly executed at Eitape beach on October 24th of 1943.   Another important development was the Japanese seizure of Macau. Unlike the case of Portuguese held Timor taken in 1942, the Japanese has respected Portuguese neutrality in Macau. However there was a huge influx of Chinese, American and European refugees coming from Guangdong and Hong Kong and this aroused Japanese suspicions. After the fall of Hong Kong, the British had established a clandestine support organization inside Macau trying to gain intelligence on the Japanese in an effort rescue the prisoners from Hong Kong. British army aid group known as BAAG, was under the command of Lt Colonel Lindsay Tasman Ride. They operated out of Hong Kong, Waichow, Guilin, Sanbu, Kaiping, Kunming and other places. They had planned out escape routes from Macau for local Chinese using the route through Shekki or via the sea to a place called To Fuk. Guangzhouwan was another escape route that wealthy Chinese and other nationalities with resources could buy passage through. Another route used a heavily armed motor junk that went to the north west point of Macau, Kong CHung and took them as far as Sam Fau. From there with aid, they could get to Guilin and then Chongqing.    But then a blockade was imposed on the Chinese mainland. Macau's survival depended upon receiving rice and fuel from places like Vichy controlled Indochina and Guangzhouwan, but after the Japanese occupied them Macau suffered critical food shortages. Macau's ships were not allowed to be used by Portuguese to carry food and thus were dependent on foreign ships. On the night of August 18th, the British ship Sian, under Portuguese protection was commandeered by a combined fleet of Japanese and pro-Japanese Chinese run ships, which illegally entered Macau's inner harbor. There was a shootout leading to 20 dead British sailors and the Japanese allegedly discovered that the ship was transporting a shipment of illegal weapons to be sold to the NRA. The next morning Lt General Tanaka Hisakzu of the 23rd army ordered troops across the border who clashed briefly with Macau police forces before Lisbon ordered them to not resist.    Governor Mauricio Teixeira was forced to collaborate with the Japanese who starting in September demanded the installation of Japanese advisors or full blown military occupation. The result was Macau becoming a protectorate. The isolated port city became a center for smuggling and black market activities…which it kinda still is today haha.   I would like to take this time to remind you all that this podcast is only made possible through the efforts of Kings and Generals over at Youtube. The battle for Vella Lavella was over, the Japanese yet again proved themselves experts at the art of evacuation. The battle for Finschhafen was not over by any means and now the allies were cautiously proceeding forward lest they repeat any mistakes learnt in Buna-Gona, Lae and Salamaua.

Jonah had a small heart. He had something in his belly that made him run from the purpose of God. And so Jonah wound up in the belly of a fish. There, he turned toward the Lord and His presence. And then he was set free from the fish. (Jonah 2:1-10; 2 Corinthians 6:11-12) Speaker(s): […]

What's in your heart? Jonah had a cramped heart. He had no love for what God loved. In the belly of the fish, Jonah was narrowed and looked to the presence of God and he was set free. The prophet had something in him, faith in his belly. (Romans 5:17-19; Jeremiah 3:1-10; 2 Corinthians 6:11-12) […]

Cramped space, noise, annoying fellow passengers… That's what a typical flight looks like. But what if you had the whole plane just for yourself? Before you say that it's possible only for rich people who fly private jets, just listen to this… Sometimes airlines have to operate commercial flights with only one (in some cases 2 or 3) passenger. As you can guess, these lucky guys get a first-class experience for the price of an economy ticket. But why would airlines do so? Don't such flights just make them lose money and it would be more logical to cancel them? Well, when they make a decision to fly an nearly empty plane, they have to take into consideration much more than headcount. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

We're starting our new series on the book of Zechariah this morning. Our Scripture reading will just be the first 2 verses. We'll consider the background and some overall themes. You'll find that on page 941 in the church Bibles.Reading of Zechariah 1:1-2PrayerIntroductionA popular group activity today is the escape room. Maybe you've never heard of such a thing. An escape room is a game. You are locked in a room with a theme, like Alcatraz, or a bank vault, or time travel, or you-name-it. Your goal is to escape. The room has clues that lead to special keys or patterns that open objects which reveal new clues. The first time you're in an escape room, it's very disorienting. It takes working together to uncover hidden things in the room and to solve puzzles and riddles. But over time, things start to come together. Wall hangings may hide a safe, which contains a key. A closet may have a secret door. A series of lights or clocks may solve a combination lock. New rooms are revealed. After a while, your initial confusion turns to a realization of how it all works together. Often it's quite masterful. The book of Zechariah is similar. A quick read through can be disorienting. It has visions with horses of different colors and flying scrolls and walls of fire. Zechariah also has prophecies which include difficult themes like judgments and references to wars… and coming earthquakes. Mountains that are torn in two. And all throughout are references to people, and places, and things that we are unfamiliar with. And as you read Zechariah, you may have that same initial feeling like being in an escape room for the first time. Nothing makes sense. The pieces aren't coming together. And you feel a little stressed. Or are maybe even a little discouraged not knowing how to understand it. Or you wonder about the book's purpose in the Bible. In talking with a couple of you, those are some of the things you've mentioned. Maybe it's why most, if not all of you, have never heard a sermon series on Zechariah. The fear of trying to navigate these strange ideas and dream-like visions. All of that leads to the question of “why?” “Why Zechariah?” “why now?”Well, lots of reasons. And by the end of this morning's sermon, you should have those questions answered. By the way, I haven't suggested you to read Zechariah yet. That was intentional. I wanted to first give you answers to some of the clues to Zechariah. But with those, you can begin to unlock its mysteries and start to see what it reveals. So, I encourage you to read through Zechariah over the next days or weeks. Even after today, you'll have some keys that will direct you in how to read it. You'll be oriented in some initial ways to the book. One of my goals by the end of our series, is that if you are not already in love with the Old Testament, you will be. Now, you may be thinking, “you're going to try to do that with the book of Zechariah?” Actually, yes. Because what will become apparent over the next weeks and months is how rich and nourishing Zechariah is to your faith. How it deepens your understanding of salvation and God. How it leads you through difficult days and temptations, and how it directs your attention to the life-giving hope of Christ. It's all there, and it's written for you.Think about the New Testament. Most of the books in the New Testament are letters written to people or churches. And they are very structured. Believe this, don't believe that, do this, don't do that, for these various reasons. That can definitely be helpful. Right? Clear rational explanations and exhortations. But truth is also conveyed in the Bible in other ways. Ways that help us grasp in our hearts, the goodness and faithfulness of God, warnings about sin and evil, and the hope of Christ. Scripture reveals these truths and hope through poetry and song which penetrates deep within. Wisdom literature in the Bible takes our thoughts and actions and sifts it through God's wisdom. Prophecy opens the door to God's promises by intersecting our lives with God's plans. God also reveals himself and his redemption through history in the Bible. Truth is revealed through real people and real situations. We've already seen that in different ways through the book of Acts.Part of the beauty of Zechariah is how it weaves history, and prophecy, and wisdom, and poetry. It has apocalyptic like visions similar to the books of Revelation and Daniel, yet some of those visions, as we'll see, include real people. And Zechariah's prophecy points to a king and priest to come. A king and priest who will rule and who will intercede far beyond any mere human king or priest.Zechariah reveals this in history and through the visions and prophecy he's given. And we'll pray, as we go through this book, that God would penetrate our hearts and minds with his truth and righteousness. At times you may be rattled, in a good way, and directed to turn back to God and to Christ. So, while Zechariah may seem confusing and difficult at first, yet it contains secrets that when revealed will capture your attention and turn your hearts towards God and his salvation. And to begin our journey, I want to give you 3 keys. Answer 3 clues that will help reveal the meaning of Zechariah's prophecy. But rather than tell you all of them up-front, you'll have to wait for one at a time. The Key of ContextThe first key is the key of context – historical context. Answering the question “what was happening with God's people at this time in history?” This is a really important key. Understanding it will help unlock the purpose and goals of Zechariah. Really, understanding the context helps illuminate any book of the Bible. But it especially helps with prophecy and history. So, let's take a few minutes to orient ourselves to who God was speaking to through Zechariah. And what I think you'll find is that as we enter into their situation, we'll see a lot of similarities to our situations.Let me give you the broad-brush overview of what was going on, and then connect it to us.God's people in the Old Testament were the people of Israel. They started as one family and eventually became a nation. They had their own kings ruling them - King Saul, then David, then Solomon. That started about 3000 years ago - 1000 BC. But this unified nation didn't last. No, it quickly split into 2 nations. Judah in the south where Jerusalem was, and Israel in the north. None of the kings in the north, in Israel followed God. They were all wicked to some extent or another. In the south, in Judah, there was a mixture of good and bad. This went on for about 250 years. To make a long story short, God first punished the northern kingdom, Israel. And he used the Assyrians to accomplish this. In 722 BC, the Assyrians conquered the northern territory. Then Judah, the southern kingdom, was soon to follow. About 150 years later, the Babylonians conquered Judah. That happened in 586 BC. Earlier this morning, we read from 2 Chronicles 36 about what happened. Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, overthrew Jerusalem. He killed many of the men and women, he took the holy items from the temple, and he burned God's temple to the ground. Jerusalem was also largely destroyed. Its palaces burned and walls torn down. Many of the people who weren't killed, were dragged off to Babylon as captives. We call this the Babylonian captivity. The people were exiled to a foreign land. By the way, modern day Baghdad in Iraq is near the ancient city of Babylon. That's over 600 miles from Jerusalem. And God promised that for 70 years the people would be in exile. That promise was given around 586 BCAnd when we get to Zechariah 1, we're given the exact year and month that Zechariah gave his first prophesy. The 8th month in the 2nd year of Darius. You can read that right there in verse 1. That translates to 520 BC. So 66 years after the Babylonian captivity began. And a lot had happened in those 66 years. First, the Babylonians themselves were conquered. The Medo-Persians now controlled the region. And an amazing thing happened. God used the Medo-Persians to begin to bring his people back to Jerusalem. Cyrus, the emperor, even gave God's people provisions and building materials. He returned many of the temple items that were captured. And if you read the Old Testament books of Ezra and Nehemiah, you will read about a partial rebuilding of Jerusalem and the temple.Zechariah came along a couple of years after that started. It's now 520. Some of the people had returned, but many were still in exile. The situation in Jerusalem, even though it had improved, was still very discouraging. The temple had not been finished. We'll get in to the significance of the temple in a future sermon. Many parts of the city still lie in ruins even though much of the walls had been rebuilt. The land was not yielding a harvest. And there was no king in Israel. In fact, Zechariah's words there in verse 1, reminded them of that painful reality. “In the second year of Darius” Darius was the current king of Persia. And even though the region was generally at peace, it was still controlled by a foreign kingdom. So, the people who came back to Jerusalem were in some ways foreigners in their own land. And all these difficult conditions resulted from God's punishment on their father's generation. If you look at verse 2 of Zechariah chapter 1, the first words that Zechariah spoke were these, “The Lord was very angry with your fathers.” Zechariah was reminding the people of God's punishment. He was reminding them why they were experiencing all these struggles. And at the same time warning them not to be like their forefathers, rejecting and rebelling against him.Part of what's required to understand Zechariah is to enter into the life of the returned exiles. It's to understand what Zerubbabel, the governor, and Joshua, the high priest were going through. And when we do that, Zechariah's message will no longer be out there, distant. Rather, it will be a message for us – for you in your discouragement.Think about, for a moment, some of the Afghan families that we've met over the last few months. Displaced far from their homes. They had to flee at a moments notice. Some of their family members were killed. They've been separated from friends, from their homes, and from their culture. Put yourself in their shoes, so to speak. They are in a new land, with a different language and culture. Cramped into a small apartment, or hotel. They have little clothes and blankets to keep warm. The schools are overwhelmed. They worry and fear for their friends and family back home. It's been a difficult journey of exile. Imagine 30 years in the future. What if Russia invaded Afghanistan again, but this time, took control. And what if Russia invited all the Afghan refugees scattered around the world to return home. And imagine if many did. As they travelled back, they were excited about going home. Now what if you had been a young parent who fled from the Taliban in 2021. You endured the difficult days and years. But now it's 30 years later, you are in your 60s. Some of your grown children decide to stay in America, but you have longed to go back home. You dreamed about that day. When you arrive home, though, it's not what you had imagined. Poverty had overcome your country. Many of the buildings destroyed. Your family homes were either in ruins or had been taken over by Russian occupiers. Fields, which used to be fertile, were now barren. Jobs were few. The political tension extreme. Your excitement of returning quickly turned to deep despair. It's not an exact parallel, but perhaps it gives you a sense of the disappointment. For the Jewish people returning to Judah, it had been over 60 years. Most of the exiled generation had passed away while in Babylon. But all the stories told about the glory of Jerusalem remained. And the excitement was there. But their hopes were dashed when they returned.Even though they were back in Judah, they lived in difficult circumstances. They struggled with discouragement, with fear and worry, anxiety, uncertainty. They imagined the return from exile would come with a restored earthly kingdom. They wanted the glory of Jerusalem and the temple restored. But it was a far cry from that. They questioned God and their faith was shaken. These struggles and temptations are similar to some of the things we face today. Both individually and as a church. Maybe your life is very different than what you imagined. Maybe you had hoped to be married or have children, but the Lord hasn't answered those prayers the way you prayed. Or maybe you are married but married life has been difficult. We all live with painful realities and discouragements. At times that leads to despair. Or worry. Or questioning whether God is really in control. And for the church as a whole – disappointments. Maybe the failure of leaders, or the increasing encroachment of the state or culture upon our faith and beliefs. You see, the people who God was speaking to through Zechariah, are not unlike us. We ask and pray similar prayers. Where are you, God? How long? Have you forgotten your promises? The message of Zechariah is a message for you and me. It's a message of renewal. And more specifically spiritual renewal and hope. That will become very clear next week. We'll hear God's call to them to return to him. And as we work through the visions, we'll see how they deepened the people's understanding of God. And of his sovereignty over the difficult situations they face. Through the visions, we'll see God reveal the depth of his salvation – and how he will save them from the difficult situations they face. And that's just the first half of the book. And as we get to the second half of Zechariah. We'll see how the prophecies focus in on a promised savior. One who is humble but exalted. Who is lowly but a king. So, as you read Zechariah, read it with the burdens and temptations of the people in mind. And read it with your own burdens and temptations in mind. Their unsettled situation; your unsettled situation. The threats surrounding them, and the threats surrounding you. The temptations to sin that they felt, and the temptation to sin that you experience. And I think what you will find… is that key alone. The key of historical context will start to unlock doors and open up some of the other clues to the seemingly mysterious aspects of Zechariah. And Zechariah won't be a book for those people, at that time, but also for you in our time. The clues and answers will begin to unlock hope and deepen your faith and our collective trust in God, even with discouragements around us.The key of context.Key of the KingdomThat brings us to the next key. By the way, these next two keys are a lot shorter. And really, I want to highlight them to unlock part of the message as you read Zechariah. So far, we've just focused on the first couple of verses. But be sure to have you Bibles open. Because we are going to touch upon other passages in Zechariah.Ok, this next key is the key of the kingdom. One misunderstanding of the people was thinking that the earthly kingdom was going to be restored. And what God taught them through Zechariah is that while, yes, there is some near-term restoration of Jerusalem and the temple, there's a much bigger restoration that's happening. God's kingdom is coming. He is and will be ruling over everything. In a couple of weeks we are going to get to the first vision. But if you look down at chapter 1 verse 8, you'll read about a man riding on a red horse and there are other horses. This vision, which we will unpack, is of God's sovereign rule. The horses represent military might and control. And they are seeing to it that the Lord sovereign will is being accomplished. In fact, turn to chapter 6. In this vision, there are other horses and chariots. They also represent the Lord's rule, but in a different ways including over sin. And if you scan down to the second half of chapter 6. It speaks of a crown. Verses 11 and 14. Again, that theme of God's rule over his kingdom. There's an escalating emphasis of a king and his rule through the rest of Zechariah. Throughout the book, “Zion” is referenced. Mount Zion was the mountain in Jerusalem that signified the kingship. It's where the city of David was built. Look at chapter 8. The peace of Zion. Or chapter 9, the coming king of Zion. And this escalation continues and reaches its climax at the very end of Zechariah. Turn to Chapter 14. In verse 9 and following, Zechariah prophesies that the Lord will be king over all the earth. And his people will worship the king. Despite their situation, God is ruling and reigning. So as you read Zechariah, tune in to all the different kingdom language and imagery. For God is king, he is sovereign, and his kingdom will have no end. The key of the kingdom.Key of ChristAnd that brings us to the third and last key. The key of Christ. Of Jesus.Zechariah is full of allusions, and references, and prophecies of the coming savior. As part of the visions and prophecies, we're given promises of a savior. And we're given many insights into what he and his salvation will be like. The very central key is the word Branch. It refers directly to Jesus. Turn to chapter 3. This vision is the central vision. Joshua the high priest's shame is taken away by the angel of the Lord. And the confirming promise down in verse 8 is that God will send his servant, the Branch. He will be the one to do this cleansing work and save.Next, turn over to chapter 6. Another key reference to the Branch. Verse 12. He will come and build the temple of the Lord and bear royal honor. By the way, the temple refers to the presence of the Lord among his people.Almost every single chapter in Zechariah alludes to the priestly or kingly work of Christ. In chapter 9, that the king will come on a donkey. In humility. In chapter 11, the Lord became the shepherd of the flock. Doomed to be slaughtered. Chapter 12, salvation will come through the one they pierced. And as already mentioned, chapter 14, the Lord will be king over all the earth. The central figure in the whole book of Zechariah is Christ. So as you read through Zechariah, see the savior. Be drawn to his sovereignty and salvation, his humiliation, and exaltation. He is the main key that unlocks Zechariah. The returned exiles were looking for God to fulfill his promise. And what God does through Zechariah is reveal the savior. It was still 400 years before Christ would come, but there is perhaps no better picture in all the Old Testament than the picture they were given of Christ. His sovereignty and his saving work over sin and shame. They were to anticipate him and believe. And this same Jesus is the main key that unlocks the encouragement and hope to battle the discouragement and despair and shame in your own life. When you've lost your way. When it seems that there's no way out. When you are anxious. When despair is overwhelming you. When your guilt or shame is weighing you down. When you've tried to save yourself, and you realize you can't. Christ is the key. Next week, we'll be directed as to where we need to start. The key of context, the key of the kingdom, and the key of Christ. As we come to this study of Zechariah, may God bless us with the same hope, and may we see the same sovereignty and salvation, as we unlock his message for us.

In this episode, we talk about our favorite movies that we watched growing up. Then we take a look at some of the popular Christian movies in the industry today. Finally, we show Brett why we do NOT record longer podcasts :-) Here's a transcript if you like reading along :-) Hey everyone. Welcome to the Bible belt bros podcast today on the show, we are talking about our favorite Christian movies, or movies in general. What did you watch growing up? Let's have some nostalgia time, but first let everybody know today is actually a morning podcast. I have my house at the usual time of morning because I've got to go play golf today. So he's filling in for me, got a reason not to go to. Yeah. It's actually a little different because we've been doing these evening podcasts. I got used to that. So now I'm a little you're out of sorts. Yeah. I'm like, I'm just on the fight right now and it doesn't help that I made you an Americana and then apparently I it's too watered down for you. So it's a little weak, but you made it. Stronger than I would normally ask. I just added more water, so I just added, oh, okay. So it's espresso and water mix. So I just, right. I filled up the cup cup thinking four shots would be a lot, which it is. Cause I always ask for a three shot Americano sissy boys for my house. Would normally, you know, that would definitely wake me up, but then I guess I see what you're saying. Yeah. I fill the cup up and it's a deep coffee cup. It's not like a small one. So, so yeah. Andrew complaints about my coffee. I didn't complain. You asked one, doesn't go saying anything. One of the things I used to do that makes my wife so not mad, but I used to say espresso as espresso, like. All the time I call it espresso. I don't even say that. E are you? And so I would order a Starbucks and I'll be like, can I get two shots of espresso plea? You know? And she'd just be so embarrassed for me, but I've figured it out. It's espresso. There's no X in the spreads. So today. Yeah, playing golf. If it doesn't rain, uh, came home yesterday to a tree fallen over in my driveway. So I had to cut that up. So now my body is sore and guys you'd be proud of him. He did not call me. I did not call you. My wife did help me, like drag him, put him on the little trailer that we pull behind the lawnmower and drag it to the burn pile. Yep. Cut it up lawn. I changed the audit, you know, I've kind of mainly it was an electric chainsaw, but it's still a chain in the saw. Yeah. The eight inch electric chainsaw. It's more like a hedge clipper. Yeah. It's more like hedge clipper, but it, uh, did the job and yeah, you got the job done. So you can't even tell the tree fell over, but, uh, you really can't. Tell that the wind blew hard. Cause there there's stuff everywhere. Cramped pots all around. Yeah. So now my body is super sore. I'm not a great golfer, just so everybody knows. Listen, guys, he's already making excuses for why he's going suck today. I haven't even, he hasn't even been there yet, but he's making an excuse. Great golfer. Andrew at the last tournament, uh, I have a pretty good slice and I played the slice. Right. I just don't fix it. Just play it. I corrected mine. Well, sometimes I correct mine when I don't mean to you when I mean to play it and instill, and then it's like, oh, that was the straightest shot I've ever hit. You better trainees, fairway. Yeah, I was on my whole 18 Andrew at the golf course. I love that whole. I was on my second shot and I apparently, I usually choke up on my iron six. Your first shot not ended up at. 18. Yeah. Do you not go across the highway? I could play my slice. I did try that. And I it's one of those that ended up going left. Dude, I go across, I tried to hit it too hard. I like the house. So you can't hit the housing addition from there? I can't, I, it was, it started rolling down the, uh, the road towards the house. It wasn't a great shot. Gotcha. And so it was a scramble, so I played somebody else's shot. And, uh, I usually choke up on my irons. Like, so if it's something that you should be able to get there in an eight, I'll hit a six and not swing as hard kind of thing is like my, my style of play. Yup. So. I forgot to not swing as hard. And I hit that. I hit that six and it just bounced off the clubhouse. There was, it was for a benefit thing. So like the dance team was there with their laptops and stuff, checking people in. And I guess it went right by the girl with her laptop. She literally watched it bounce off and, uh, it was just the most. Embarrassing embarrassing shot that I had of, of the day. And luckily I didn't break a window cause I don't know what happens if you break. They actually posted that the golfer is responsible for damaging the clubhouse. So close to the holes. That's what they do at every golf course. Well, that's the dumbest thing ever. Like you literally have to hit. The clubhouse takes to the golfers to actually know how to golf. I didn't seen Springs. I didn't break a window. So there we go. I just hit the brick. So nothing was damaged. Um, would have been a pretty good playable shot if needed, but you know, the way, how far it bounced back, but somebody else had a better shot. So yeah, I hit the, uh, I stopped on the fringe on eight. On my second shot and then somebody else, I think Wayne. All right. Last golf tournament drove me nuts, dude. Cause the one I want to hit on another team with yes, I would hit a beautiful, gorgeous shot. Oh yeah. And then I'm, you know, I'm over there, you know, talking Schmack right. Cause that's what you do when you hit your leg hits. You're like, yeah, that's right. I should be on the tour. Yeah. Wayne steps up and literally like puts his ball, like either right in front of mine or maybe five yards further. I'm like at least once just play yours out of just courtesy. It's just five feet. Well, there was, I was like, forget you Wayne. I'm playing mine. Everybody else played his, but I did play. Uh, that was on a whole 14, I believe. Yeah. Yeah. I was like, forget it. I'm just playing mine. The course I'm playing today is basically in between housing additions. Like, so I played there once and I mean, it's pretty, uh, for somebody who has a nasty slice, it's not a very confident, chorus to be playing on. They expect to be playing my drives too much. Cause I'm not going to put too much behind it. I'm just going to put it in a fairway. So if somebody else messes up, then, then we're good. So, so I say, well, our local course is the reason I corrected my slice because it hooks more than a slice. Yeah. So I, I corrected everything and now I go straight and when I try to slice it, I can't, I can draw it all I want, but I cannot slice anymore. Yeah. Stupid. I'm trying so hard not to, uh, use any innuendos when we talk about golf. They're just so many, I know golf, golf has debt. Oh yeah. The bowling has a everything isn't any window. Yeah. I mean, I just bought two balls. I already have to know exactly. I just had my balls drilled yesterday. Okay. I said I was trying not to. I mean, okay. So that is why we have a morning podcast episode. That's right. And you woke me up, dude. I'm here awakened in, which means that we also haven't fought too long today about what we're talking about. I have thought in exactly 10 minutes on this. Cause that's when I heard the like, uh, in the, in the, uh, In the, in the night podcast, we kind of sometimes can think about it during the day. Maybe make some, you know, that's, that's the difference when we're doing maybe like a real, when also dusty. And I try not to tell each other our topics that way we have surprised me and make me say something, uh, like there's no Zechariah, the Bible that you've believed for like 30 years. That's still, still stinger. Andrew made me call his mom and apologize. After that podcast, I didn't make you call her. I called, I mean, you literally called her and said dusty would like to say something. That's making me call her. No, I just made you apologize. Call her. Okay. So yeah. And she just thought it was funny. I don't, she didn't even remember it, so I didn't even have to apologize. Do you have to apologize for offending somebody or doing something if they don't. That's a good question. I should be a podcast episode. There's a great question. You need to ask for forgiveness. If they forget that the thing ever happened, you just stir up something, right. You know, now they're re mad about, or were they ever even mad or even mad and you're just harping on yourself for nothing. And now you're making it more about you in that situation of asking for forgiveness so that you feel better now. And you're like, oh yeah. Uh, I just want to ask for forgiveness because behind your back, I have just been slamming you about this and this and this and this and this. And there'll be like, what you really. You know, like they didn't even know, but you were talking behind their back, but Hey, I said, sorry, so you can't be mad. I said, sorry. So you need to forgive me. And I feel better about myself for talking, you know, it's just, it's just typical. We would make every, anything about us. Right. So, um, yeah, maybe that's, maybe that's a deeper. Episode later when we just covered it. That's, that's, that's the depth that you get out of. That's your bonus podcast for the day? Just your bonus bucks. It's a two in one, right? I think I've talked about this before, but we've my wife and I we've been doing with our son nostalgia Saturdays, and we on Saturday kind of pick a movie that we liked growing up in the nineties. And so we just kind of. Talk about your favorite movies that you kind of remember growing up? Not the Disney ones. I know you're a big Disney Aladdin and yeah. And looking at me like what's the, hold on. No, I'm looking at you. Cause I'm trying to think of a Disney maybe so I could play off that. I can't even think of any Hannah Montana hand-on was that she's not that old. I mean, my daughter watched her when she was talking about movies that we watched growing up like, oh, hold on. I wasn't rich enough to have Disney. So I don't know. Yeah. I have some of those cassettes, VHS tapes that are worth nothing. Cinderella was that Disney that was Disney. I think. Oh, yes. She's the princess. Yep. Yep. For the Disney princess. Oh yeah. That's all I gotta do is think of the princess. Is snow white. Alison Wonderland. Jasmine. Yup. Well, what was that one? Latin Pocahontas. Pocahontas. All right. That's all I got is what upon was her puzzle? Yes, she a princess. Yes. Let down your hair. Yep. Um, yeah, I just have to think of what my daughter's Halloween costume. And that's how I know Disney. So really I'm using this podcast episode, Andrew, as a way to gather some more ideas cause I'm kind of running out of movies. So I'll tell you the ones that we've watched so far we watched. Uh huh. That's probably that's all time. All right. So I was never, you know, never had had money and could barely watch TV growing up. Right. Insert, sad music. But hook was one of those movies. I watched a lot. I mean, I remember having that on VHS and we would just, we ran that tape to the court. I also watch Mr. Or a little big league or something like that. Little big league. Yeah. The kid who broke his arm rookie of the year. There's that little rookie of the year. Yeah. Okay. And then there's that other one where the, a kid was the CEO and the CEO and the player, like he owned the team. Oh, no, he wasn't a player. He was a coach. He owned it and coach, yeah. That's a little bit later. Yeah, that might be it. We haven't watched that one yet. So we watched hook and then immediately, because this all started by me going like one day from Mrs. Doubtfire. And obviously you see a joke like that and your son doesn't get it. You have to make sure that he gets it. So we watched Mrs. Doubtfire, which then I was like, Well, I can't believe my parents, let me watch this. There's some parts in this movie that I'm like, what, you know, I think it's just seen as an adult now. You're like, wait a minute. I didn't get these jokes that was ever my son's eyes. So we watched Mrs. Doubtfire then hook. And then we watched rookie of the year, little giants. Remember that one where the football team does that soccer. Uh, the green, uh, the big green, we watched that one as well. I got to watch that one. Was it because I played soccer and I went over to, we had a team party. Yeah. It really comes down to, you had friends that had money. And so you'd just watch movies at their house so you can watch these other movies. I watched, I didn't actually watch them at my house. I watched them at my grandparents. Right. And we watched a, or we watched blink check. Nope. Did we watch blink check? No, we didn't watch like Cherokees. So here's a, here's a thing here. This is my opinion. So if somebody is listening that know somebody else don't say it, but we started this nostalgia Saturdays, and it's a big hit. Right. Then all of a sudden Carson's watching with his other parents, some of these nostalgia movies and I'm like, wait, The idea like you were well, we watching over here, like, that's my thing. So I'm just saying, but does the other parent play video games? The other parent doesn't play video games. I will always have that on my. On my side of things. And so you will still always be the fun dad. I was still in Carson's learning, coding, he's learning the unity engine, so were learning how to make games and stuff with his schooling. So that's pretty cool. So we might, once he figures it out, we're thinking about designing a game together. So you should get him that Minecraft. Game or software. I think it's a game, but they, it teaches them coding through while you're doing it. Also have this Harry Potter thing right there. That's by your feet, that's the same kind of concept like, oh, that's cool. But it's not like you're not to use a wand. You actually, where there's any, there's one where we watched Dennis, the menace. Uh, that one is pretty funny, mainly because his brothers are like totally Dennis, the menace kind of kids. And they're just into everything. Always, like I said, Carson, you're basically Mr. Wilson in this movie, like he relates more to the old guy. That's always bothered her, but there was like a couple sections, you know, where, uh, Like, he's like, oh, my dad's always singing songs every day, except for Sundays, because I think it's cause mom and dad wrestle in the bedroom and I think it's because they take their shirts off and I'm like, don't ask any questions. And I was like, golly, I used to watch like my mom, let me watch them. Maybe I always watch the TV version. I always watched the TV show, but, but yeah, so it was just funny, like watching the rewatching, these movies, but we watched Ghostbusters and I kind of look them up and there's a couple of times, like there's a. Uh, scene and Ghostbusters. Cause I think the concept is like a sexual ghost, you know, the gatekeeper and a gate, the gate master, and a gatekeeper need to hook up to, uh, unlock something. And so like it's a very sexual ghost storyline. And so I just, there's a couple of things. I'd just like double tap to skip the scene. But other than that, He liked it. Like it was fun. And I just look them up ahead of time and just we'll skip this part right here. And, uh, yeah. So we've been, we've been messing around with that. I got some more movies, Ghostbusters too, apparently supposed to be pretty good. Uh, karate kid. He hasn't seen that ACE Ventura two because the first one is all about Dan Marino being a. Uh, lady and, you know, there's, there's quite a few, I think Carson would, because it's just ridiculous that he likes that ridiculous humor. And we watched camp nowhere and there was like two kissing scenes back to back as a show, uh, Shay watched growing up. It's like where these kids, the, the, the, uh, the guy that plays the doctor on, uh, back to the. Yeah. Basically, there was one I watched the kids basically hire this dude to like calm their parents into them, going and creating their own summer camp instead of going to all these bad summer camps. And then they have like a parent stay and they have. Fake it it's it's it was actually pretty good. I chose, uh, three ninjas. You ever watched three ninjas probably, but I don't know. You probably don't want to anymore. It's not as great as I remembered it. I watched three Stooges, three Stooges and three ninjas. Uh, then there's three ninjas kick back and I did watch. Yeah. It's uh, I remember that being a lot better than what it was, but maybe it's because I was that age, maybe. I don't know. So definitely very, very cheesy movie in the, my wife and son will not let me forget that I chose that movie. Um, the mask. Yeah. I didn't like it. Uh, kindergarten cop may. It was okay. I remember that one. Um, Cone-heads, nutty, professor, Tom, and Huck. I don't remember that one that, uh, had, uh, Jonathan Taylor, Thomas. Um, go over travel. Jonathan Taylor, Thomas. I haven't heard that name in a minute. Oh, we watched school of rock that came out later. Um, yeah, that was after Hannah Montana. Yeah, I know I threw that one in there cause I knew he would like it. Uh, I want him. Yeah, I wanted to watch it again. That's usually when it comes down to what movie do I want to watch? Uh, the original teenage mutant ninja turtles is on our list. Uh, the Simpsons movie, um, Simpsons movie. Isn't that new? Well, they have like the old ones. They have a bunch of different movies. We've been going through the Simpsons as well. On who on Disney, plus we go get striked. Sorry, come at me, bro. All right. So what I wanted to go through is when I was a youth pastor, back in the day, uh, we used to do like different things in the summer because summers are so many so low in attendance now. Cause people traveling, yada, yada, yada. So I, we did like this cheesy Christian movie thing and we would get like cheese pizza. Basically everything was revolving around cheese, like cheese snacks, cheese pizzas, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Um, sounds fun. It was actually fun. And we would just watch a cheesy Christian movie and kind of sometimes we'd pick them based on how cheesy they were. But I wanted to just kind of go through maybe a list of Christian movies that you remember actually being good, not just. Cheesy. That gives me an idea for how search night, one night do a cheesy movie night. Yes, let's do something besides the lesson that we did last week, we went bowling. You weren't there. I wasn't there. Yeah. If I was there, we would have done a lesson. So I think for me the biggest movie and probably a movie that really launched, um, launched like this new season. Tons of Christian movies coming out was what was it facing the giants. And now we're watched it. You never watched facing the giants? Nope. From what I remember it very good movie. Very well done. The acting's not too cheesy. There is some cheesiness facing the giants. Yep. I, I, I think you're mistaken, sir, but you know, the problem with Christian movies is they have. They're usually a little cheesy on the humor over exaggerated emotion things, you know, and then they're usually. They always have to go into some like super serious. They can't just be funny movies. When you watch a comedy, you don't have like that come to Jesus moment or whatever, of course. But like these, these movies are kind of made in the comedy scene and then they want to get really serious for, are they though? They are, I don't think based. And I think of Christmas movie, I don't think of comedy, unless something Christian calls. Okay. Cause Christian movies always have to be serious. I, every single time. Well, most of them, yes, because they're all focused around. God's love and yeah. Thank you to Jesus. Well, you should watch facing the giants or maybe we should have movie night. We can watch faith in the times together and you're just want to do a nostalgic. I, yeah, I, I remember that coming out and we showed that to like football teams. Like it's very football heavy, um, as far as the storyline, but I mean, obviously has this serious moments as well, but then. I'm thinking it was like a church that made that movie, like a football movie. I'm watching hometown legend, hometown legend. That is a good, I mean, that's kind of older too. That's nostalgia and a Christian movie, hometown legend. Yeah. Okay. I used to wash out and loop and dusty, you stay at my house all the time because we used to watch, remember the Titans like, oh yes. Our Bible. And so we watched that movie. So when hometown legend came out, I think we're just really in the football movies in general, a hometown legend came out. And I remember that being like, Hey, this is really good. Maybe not as good as remember. But it's really good movie. And because dusty and I could not, it wasn't, I don't remember it being super cheesy. It probably was, but I don't remember it being a super cheesy movie. I've watched it. Semi-recently at, I don't think so. Hometown legend, if you haven't watched it added to your list and, uh, yeah. And so this church, when they did the facing the giants, they basically branched into. Now we're a church that makes movies all the time. Cause it went from like a $10,000 budget and much more. And so they have like movies, like courageous. I can't remember if they made God church made the movie. Yeah. Church made the movie. And so like the pastor was this character, you know, like it was made with like a $10,000 budget or something like that. Like if I remember all this correctly, Fact check me. So make sure get into movie making. We can make the comedies that have nothing to do. You know, I think they even made, yeah, they made a, still have a serious come to Jesus moment. You're like jokey, jokey, jokey, jokey. Oh, father God. We pray for this guy and make it really serious. Somebody almost died. What were those? The movie spoofs that always came in. They made fun of the screen. Yeah. What was that called? I don't know, but that's what we could do. We could totally just remake these low budgets. Christian. We're shutting down. Mama's on the podcast. Let me go steal our idea. Um, that's a fine, we'll probably never do it, but we should do it. That would just be funny. Just even make them as short. I mean, we have a YouTube channel. Why don't we do something? We don't post anything and we did one, one actual video. Yeah. Didn't even get a. Yeah, it was like two or 300 bees. It's not like crazy, but, um, fireproof, I think that was a good movie. That was definitely more serious. They, I remember that one. That was one about the fireman. The title given away, actually the picture did fireproof. That's when Kirk Cameron got into the, uh, into this Christian movie, uh, besides left behind, you know, he was really big at getting that off the ground. He got tired of his sister, always having the attention. God's not dead. I remember that being a. A big one for the main mainstream theaters, big ones. The, uh, I can only imagine. I can only imagine which I, I never watched that one. It's kind of, I don't know, like I'm not a movies person, like you are, I'm definitely not a movies person. I'm not a. I'm not a big movie. I'm a big Ted lasso fan. Let's let's watch me, like give me like a 10 part series, you know, and let it be funny. Only nothing serious. Gosh, dude, for me, just give me a Minecraft YouTube series. I'm good. I don't wanna watch movies. I don't watch Minecraft. I CA I hate watching movies. Oh, the shack was the shack of Christian. Yes, I actually, that was a book we actually read. And then watch the movie. That's like the first time it's ever happened in history. For me, for you. I read a book before the movie. Yes. Not only, no, no, no, no, no, not just before the movie, I read a book and watched the land watch really the emphasis there is I read a book. Well, technically, if you want to talk about that, then we did the same thing with the prince of Egypt. We read through the book of Exodus as our house church, and then we watched the movie prince of Egypt. Yep. Thanks. Alex used to watch how doesn't listen to this podcast. She would talk about that movie every week. She's like, oh, I know this because I was in the prince of every time, every time that we bring up a point she's like, and in the prince of Egypt, they did, we got to watch them. All right. So now we have to watch prince of Egypt time. We did, and we did, and it was great. There's a lot of Christian movies out there nowadays is Narnia considered. Cause Narnia was released mainstream. It doesn't have to be, we have my mom considers it. I mean that when every, whenever it hit the theater, she was taking my brothers to watch it. But I mean, it doesn't actually say. It's just a lot of symbolism. Right. Which is basically every Christian worship song nowadays. It's just more symbolic sayings. And just say the real thing, guys, listen. Can't cause then it's a hymnal. When you're seeing scripture, it turns it into a hymnal. Not really a there's a, oh shoot. I forget what rapper did it, but essentially wrapped just a bunch of different verses in the. And it turned out to be a great rap, like Psalms, where it'd be like one piece of scripture from judges, a piece of scripture from Ruth, a piece of scripture from John and it all flowed together. It was really nicely put together. I'll find it and send it to you. Okay. Okay. Well, I don't,  I don't recall that being a, uh, okay. Cause you don't listen to the same type of music I do. I just don't even listen to the radio. I saw him. He don't listen to the radio either. I listened. How do you find new songs? If you don't listen to radio Pandora? That's that's basically, Nope. That's not the radio. That's a streaming service. I'm pretty sure it says, if you go to Pandora, I click Pandora and then I continue with Pandora and this. It's a station. Yep. Not radio. It's a streaming stuff. What are you streaming on? My radio. Okay. Stereo stoplight. I don't, I can't cancel. Cancel. Okay. I think I probably just signed up for Pandora. I just clicked a bunch of buttons to see a song and then I should get a part of that to be. I was the reason he got Pandora. And or if you want to sponsor me, you're getting royalties. Yep, man. I have proof that it was me that got him to sign up for Pandora. I still believe that just came out. That's supposed to be like that Jeremy camp song. That was a good one too. This is Jeremy Camporee married. Yes. And like he is still like trade with his wife who passed away. Yeah. And his current wife helps him celebrate. Yeah. Yeah. That's she understands. It's weird to me. I mean, he's still doing too, like, but that song came out so long ago. That's his, you say so long ago, that was 2006 ish. I think, I don't know, 2003, maybe. I don't know that song is older than my child, which point? So he's been touring for 14 years. Singing that song, like he's still doing it now with like a music video. I saw some clip, just like the music video or some, or the clips of this movie playing behind him. I don't know. It's just, you know, in the, in the grief, in the healing process at some point, I mean, I get it. I know. What's what, it's just, it'd just be weird to me. So like I'm always going to be. Yeah. Well, I mean, what about all these soldiers, wives who, or spouses who their spouses get killed overseas to me because he's playing this song every, every week, every day. Like, it's not like. Yeah. And the spouses are posting about their soldier, spouses who didn't come home almost every day, every week after they're remarried. Yep. So what you're saying, or, I mean, think about a fireman or a cop, or just anyone who is widowed and they still want to honor their significant other. Huh? I mean, to me, it's not weird. It's just in remembrance. I know it's remembrance, but that seems like a little more than in remembrance, I guess. Well, yeah, to them, it was the love of their life, their true love. So I get remained. I don't know, we are completely honest. They have more love to give and they, they just want to have sex. Sandra, you know, that's the case. No, not always. Listen. I have I'm legally, I'm friends with multiple people who have lost spouses and, well, I guess they didn't remarry, but they're constantly posting. That's what I'm saying. If you are entering into a new marriage relationship. And, but then you're constantly like comparing that person to your first. I don't know. It's just, I mean, they're not necessarily comparing. I mean, it's not like they're going up to your spouse and being like, oh my, my dead spouse would do it this way. Yeah. You never died for anything. Whether their spouse didn't die for anything either they just died. Well, I guess the soldiers, yes, they did. That was talking about the soldiers. I was, I was going at the Jeremy camp side. She just had cancer passed away. I dunno, I, I got off topic. I don't want to be on this time. Like, Nope. We're contentious topic. I have no podcast three in one. I just saw the movie in his mouth. 15 years later, after being remarried. He still milking that stuff. And you are still milking this topic for not wanting to be on it because like, I dunno. Like maybe all his other records didn't really do as well. And so he, but they did that. It's kind of like mercy me. I can only imagine on every freaking album they ever released because that remade every time they ever, you know, like, it's like, that's the song that gets us the sales. And so I'm just going to milk this thing. As long as I can with every version possible, you are cynical and everything you do, aren't you? I am pretty cynical, especially when it comes. So these kinds of things, but sex music, no, just what was it the other day you profiting, profiting off of story, you know, and you know, I don't know. It's whatever, I'm very cynical. I think it was a very jaded pastoring. Oh, pastor pay. That was a topic we talked about the other day that you were very cynical about. Well, you're just cynical in general. It's just, why is this just now hitting? Jesus came in. Normally nobody agreed with how he did things. All right. So maybe I'm more like Jesus than you are just goes with the flow. And I literally say every week at house church, I am the one who says I relate to Jesus. Well, I am switching it because if you're just going with the status quo and saying, Hey, the way the world decides to do this is the way that God wants to do it and stop questioning it. Then maybe you're the problem. Have you ever known me to go with the status quo? You are defending the status quo. I'm not defending my defending the status quo all the time. When name one pastor says. It's not necessarily a status quo. I mean, the flow is lower of what you say. The pastor shouldn't get paid. Hey, I just wanted to get a shout out to our Australian friend that is offering to teach or to a. W where's he at? I think it's Brett, but I just want to make sure they're going to get a good dude. Let's just shout out. Just say shout out to our Australian friend. I'm pretty sure your name is Brett. Shout out to Australian friend who might name his brand. I can't because otherwise we're just kind of a lie, but listen, you wanted a longer podcast and this is why we cut the podcast short, because this is where it goes and it goes. These types of, and it just us arguing about something that neither of us have facts or any kind of data to back up at this moment. We just say random stuff. We're just saying random stuff. Somebody's going to get mad and. You know, that's just what happens. It's going to be dusty. Cause I don't care. I, I actually, I mean, somebody who's listening is going to go. Gotcha. You know what I mean? Negative reviews we get for talking about like, well, it's funny. I love reading their names. I think they're hilarious. So we've got a couple of Karen's in our. Yeah, we do. And it's always, and it's always like, I wanted to listen to a nice enlightening Christian podcast and I found you guys and you're just joking around. And does he literally put in our title, Christian comedy pause is why I put comedy is so that you guys would know we are not serious. Just we're just arguing. And Andrew just likes to argue about nothing. And therefore Andrew likes to just argue. The opposite side of any situation, whether or not I like to it's. I can, I can, I can always see both sides. You like to, you like to argue and therefore the guy who keeps saying it out, we are arguing about who likes to argue. I think dusty likes target. Kind of like to argue with myself once you're gone, I will have a conversation with you later, Andrew, and I will make this argument with you later when you were not present. And it's always like, oh, why didn't I say that? No, I say it to you, which is just when you're not here. And I win the argument and is squashed pretty much how I treat every relationship that I have. And that is why we can be friends. Uh, okay. I don't know where we're at now, but we'll just stop it here. And you guys can have a longer extended version of a podcast three and one guys. That's like the Trinity a podcast. We're going to get canceled. Aren't we in this? Yeah, you can't cancel me if I just stopped recording episodes to begin with. Yeah. Okay. I don't know where guys have a good one. Hope you have a good week. I'll let you know how my golf game goes today. Tomorrow. Hopefully it just gets rained out so I can just stay at home and play video games. I'll see you later. Take it easy.

I would summarize the past 12 months in 3 words: Dark, Cramped, and Stinky. When Jesus reached for an image to describe the passion he was about to endure, he compared it to Jonah's dark, cramped and stinky 3 days and 3 nights in the belly of a fish. Find a quiet place this evening and join Jeremy as he guides us in a series of Good Friday meditations from the belly of the fish.  --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jeremyberg/message

This storm is really pouring on I can feel the bitter winter chill Creeping in to my bones Oh I'm so very close to losing my mind The thought of leaving home behind Makes me question did I have to go Gotta keep it in now I'm feeling like the world's turned on me But I will not cease to exist No I'll say “Do your worst!” I'm standing Until I hear the bell, I will prevail I wont surrender no I wont fail For I am For I am I'm feeling like the world's turned on me But I will not cease to exist No I'll say “Do your worst!” I'm standing Until I hear the bell, I will prevail I wont surrender no I wont fail For I am Invincible I wont surrender no I wont fail For I am Invincible -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And remember, YOU ARE INVINCIBLE! Nothing can stand in your way once you set your mind on it! Stay safe, ya'll! Powered by Firstory Hosting
