In this episode… As ecommerce businesses strive to remain competitive in a digital-first world, how can they improve the customer experience, drive sales, and increase consumer loyalty? What strategies are leading companies employing to stay ahead of the curve? With a versatile background in early-stage consumer product scaling, Justin Silver has identified the power of crafting time-sensitive personalized conversations with potential customers to convert leads into sales. Justin explains how his company leverages behavioral psychology to drive sales on Instagram by inducing a feeling of urgency and scarcity in their DMs. His insights challenge “salesy” marketing processes, revealing that it's less about pushing your products to buyers and more about asking customers about their concerns. Justin illustrates that true mastery of this marketing method is built on having high-quality products, replacing tech intermediaries with real people, and understanding buyer intent. He also delves into using custom landing pages for micro-influencers, providing valuable insights on how to create a deeper relationship between the influencer, your brand, and consumers. In this episode of the Minds of Ecommerce, Raphael Paulin-Daigle hosts Justin Silver, the Co-founder of AAVRANI, as they guide listeners through boosting ecommerce sales through Instagram DMs and micro-influencer landing pages. Justin highlights the benefits of personalized messaging and offers, the importance of having an outstanding product, and how AAVRANI leverages behavioral psychology to convert leads into sales.
Rooshy Roy, the founder of AAVRANI, is on the Female Founder World podcast with Jasmine Garnsworthy! When Rooshy first created her ayurvedic-inspired skincare line, it didn't exactly do well. She'd made some big mistakes with the branding, and customers weren't buying it. So, she redesigned her brand (all DIY, by the way!), and released something with a very different vibe, and it worked! Since the relaunch, Rooshy has raised millions of dollars from investors to build the business and is about to launch into Sephora. This is a really great conversation for anyone who is not sure whether their product or business is on the right track and where to make changes, or who needs some solidarity, inspiration, and advice on how to become a better leader and business owner. Rooshy Roy is the founder and CEO of Aavrani, a holistic skincare line that uses clean, effective cosmetics rooted in Indian agent beauty rituals, which she saw her grandmother using as a young girl in India. As an adult searching for an easier way to access non-toxic formulas, Rooshy reconnected with her roots by creating the beauty products she wished she had as a young Indian girl growing up in the Midwest. I deeply resonate with this because growing up in Texas, I only saw brands like AVON or Revlon, and none of it was created with my skin in mind. It's definitely a beautiful thing when the journey to find a solution, molds us into the resource we once set out to find and that's the nature of Rooshy's story. Her recent partnership with Lilly Singh on her upcoming haircare line is proving that Rooshy is ready to bring these ancient rituals to the mainstream and share the beauty of the Indian culture. I'm so excited to be speaking with Neha Dharmapuram, an emerging actress and well-established TikTok dancer who used the pandemic to pour into her passion and creative outlet which is dancing. People, Places, and things - in the most simple and direct translation, they are simply the definition of a noun. But these nouns are what makeup experiences, the many experiences throughout our lives that have shaped us into who we are today. From the people who left a lasting impression on us, the places that are painted with memories, to the inanimate objects that feel more living than not...all of these experiences have left a lasting impression on us for different reasons. In the Disney movie, “Inside Out”, they touch on the topic of “core memories”. Core Memories play a pivotal role in the film and are described as memories that feel more significant than regular memories. Core Memories essentially shape your personality and define who you are today. Today, we’ll be sharing our core memories, specifically the people, places, and things that have made an impact on our lives. On today’s episode I’m joined by Rooshy Roy, Co-Founder of An Indian inspired skincare brand called Aavrani. A first-generation Indian American, Rooshy grew up around her family making ancient Indian skin care treatments using ingredients like turmeric and almond oil, and through a chance encounter at business school on her second day there, she started her entrepreneurial journey with Aavrani. Named as one of Forbes 30 under 30 for retail and ecommerce in 2020, Rooshy has secured around 2m in funding and has developed a brand rooted in Indian culture and heritage, with a purpose to inspire and empower women around the world through ancient Indian rituals. I can’t tell you how much I loved this conversation, Rooshy is so profoundly real and raw, and she shares so much of herself throughout the episode. We talk about the importance of pioneering I-beauty and why it’s crucial that more women launch brands inspired by Indian beauty and continue to show up for south asian women around the world, finding the strength to shut out the negative talk that stops women from pursuing big ideas and the beauty of storytelling from the heart. A goal in starting this podcast was to bring to a larger audience, the experience that we have within our beauty community here in Brooklyn. Our beauty community is not one that is either only black or white, but every color of the rainbow in between. As women that navigate easily between cultures, we know that the key to understanding each other is speaking openly and honestly about where we come from and where we are going. Today’s guest Rooshy Roy, co-founder of the beauty startup AAVRANI is a super special guest because she is the first guest who reached out to us to be on the podcast. So we didn’t know much about Rooshy going into this interview but came out learning so much about this incredible female founder, the Indian diaspora, and ways in which it mirrored the Jewish and African diaspora. We also talk about heritage, staying true to yourself, following your dreams, and the importance of being seen in consumer goods. Rooshy is a Warton graduate, she was on Forbes 30 under 30, she’s super compassionate, kind, and funny and we know you’re going to love this episode! To learn more about Rooshy and AAVRANI, check out the website by clicking here and check out their instagram @AAVRANI.Don't forget to follow us @truebeautybrooklyn and @truebeautybrooklynpodcast. Rooshy Roy WG19, is the Co-Founder & CEO of AAVRANI. As a first generation Indian-American, she would often make her own skincare with her mom, who showed Rooshy how to harness the power of raw ingredients—like turmeric and sweet almond oil—to maintain beautiful skin. As an adult searching for an easier way to access those Indian rituals, Rooshy was inspired to create her own brand. AAVRANI skincare unites India’s ancient, all-natural approach with clinically-proven, modern-day elegance. Prior to launching the company in 2018, she worked in Finance at Goldman Sachs and Warburg Pincus. Rooshy went to Indiana University and graduated with an MBA from Wharton in 2019. She is a 2020 Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree in the Retail & E-Commerce category.
Inspired from family traditions, Rooshy Roy has created a premium skincare product line that enables women to feel proud and confident in their skin. Aavrani is grounded in ancient beauty rituals of India— and so is Rooshy. Spending time reconnecting to her roots has shaped the way she sees the world that has helped her build and cultivate a successful brand. Just as Rooshy has discovered, Aavrani reminds women that empowerment is found from within. Ready to be empowered? Email: LegacyonPurpose@lcgindy.com

The first Indian-American Miss America Nina Davuluri joins Iman in conversation about her newly launched skin care brand, Aavrani, being confident in your own skin, and doing what is true to yourself – even when the people close to you aren't sometimes supportive.
Happy Wednesday! We are back with another episode featuring the fabulous Nina Davuluri. Nina is the cofounder of the skincare brand Aavrani which is making a major splash in the skincare and beauty industry. She is an advocate for diversity and cultural competency and STEM education. She is a phenomenal host and on camera personality, and yes, she is a former Miss America. Nina is someone that I have looked to for advice in some of my most trying times and someone I see as a soundboard to bounce ideas off of to help me figure out the crazy game of life! Before we get to the episode, a quick WWD announcement. I mentioned before that I love true crime and I love women's empowerment podcasts, well I've found a way to bring the genres together. Something really major (at least to me) is coming up at the end of November and that is the one year anniversary of WWD which I can't even believe. To celebrate that, we're bringing you this project and it is completely different from anything that WWD has ever done. So look out for that. In fact, WWD is going to take a break for a few weeks while we work on this project for you and then we will be back with regular content. In the mean time you can catch up on any episodes you might have missed and tell all your friends about the show! Now sit back and enjoy this episode with Nina Davuluri!
