Grappling Rewind: Breakdowns of Professional BJJ and Grappling Events

This week on the show Maine and Josh preview the WNO 26 card headlined by a lightweight title fight between Keith Krikorian and Diego Pato Oliveira. We preview the rematch between Diego Pato Oliveira vs Keith Krikorian we talk about their first match at ADCC 2022 that saw Pato take the match with a footlock. We talk about Patos change of camp to AOJ and his recent run of victories. In the preview of the Co-Main event we discuss Jay Rodriguez vs Ronaldo Junior in what looks to be a very dynamic match, we talk about the wrestling from both and the areas that Ronaldo may be able to exploit with Jay style. We talk about how hard Jay Rod is to put away and submit and how his game has been developing since ADCC and his silver medal in 2024. We talk about the dynamics of the rematch between Roberto Jimenez vs Elder Cruz a match that we think will come down to one critical moment. We talk about Ryan Aitken vs Luccas Lira and the consistency that Ryan has been able to bring to winning in the EBI and CJI formats contrasted with the IBJJF stylings of Lira. In Tainan Dalpra vs Rene Sousa we talk about how Tainan will look to avoid the buggy choke and how he will need to play with his injured hand. In Rafaella Guedes vs Paige Ivette we talked about this becoming a battle of the top players and how a single moment may lead to a large opportunity that defines the match. We also discuss Daniel Sathler vs Michael Sainz, and the rematch between Zach Kaina vs Isaac Cordova. We also discuss Helena Crevar defending her F2W open weight title this last weekend. Recorded 2-2-2025

Totalt sett presterade portföljen okej, men våra åtta picks fick precis godkänt. This week on the show we talk about Gordon Ryan Vs. Aaron “Tex” Johnson at Sub Stars, Cyborg Vs. Lovato and most of this stacked card. We recap Submission Underground 11, and preview GrappleFest 8.In the news section of the show we talk about Leandro Lo now being the 5-division world champ in IBJJF, and Mikey Musumeci having his match with Erberth Santos announced then cancelled. We talk about AOJ splitting from Atos and some marquee BJJ matchups. In the recap section of the show we go deep into the Sub Stars card starting with Gordon Ryan Vs. Tex Johnson we talk about Gordon’s meta game and how his passing was implemented in the match. We talk about an entry into a leg and heel hook position from Tex and what Gordon did differently than Felipe Pena to avoid the sub and subsequently pass off of the attempt. We also talk about how this finish and set up for the finish is very similar to the pathways that we have seen Gordon travel before when looking for the same sub. We break down Roberto Cyborg Abreu versus Rafael Lovato Jr. that saw Cyborgs wrestling and takedown, and top game on display against the Lovato. We talk about some of the history between these two and this matchup, and how Cyborg has been looking better and better recently at the top of the BJJ game. In our recap of Nick Rodriguez vs Roosevelt Sousa we talk about the development of Nicks passing game, and Maine gives credit to more of the technical pieces that he had overlooked in his back take game. We talk about the position reset and the placement of the arms and legs, that possibly changed and were a point of controversy. In the Luiza Monteiro vs. Maggie Grindatti match we break down the ever-elusive heel hook in the Gi in a pro match. This is one of BJJ unicorn submissions that we rarely ever see as its banned in almost every rule set, we break down how this changes attacks in the gi and why its cool to see. Keeping with the theme of leg locks in the Gi in Fellipe Andrew vs Patrick Gaudio we talk about the quick footlock that saw Fellipe take the win over Gaudio. We also break down the prelim matches including Jasmine Rocha vs Nathalia Santoro, Roberto Jimenez vs Dan Martinez, Nicky Ryan vs JZ Cavalcante looking like a match of Gordons from 2015, Vagner Rocha match and more. In the recap of Submission Underground 11 (SUG 11) we talk about the tag team match between Nick Rodriguez Craig Jones, Vinny Magalhaes, and Kyle Boehm. We speculate on how the match will play out and if Thor will be able to get to the legs of Adam or if Adams passing will prove too much. We talk about Tye Ruotolo vs Dante Leon and how exited we are for this matchup. We also talk about Kade Ruotolo vs Ashley Williams and more big matchups on the card.In the outro section of the show Maine talks about being sore from Comp Class.Recorded 2-24-2020Be sure to check out the Grappling Rewind on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJlx0zzA6LloWQtpTjD3VeAInstagram https://www.instagram.com/grappling_rewind/Our Website http://www.grapplingrewind.comFacebook https://www.facebook.com/GrapplingRewind/Twitter https://twitter.com/grapplingrewind

In this episode I am being interviewed by a good friend and colleague named Luke Agajanian. He is a 10+ year veteran with a wealth of knowledge on many aspects of private security, he's worked on many continents with various client demographics. He has a black belt Brazilian Jujitsu from AOJ and he is a highly -ranked competitive shooter at the Masters level in at least one division. We worked together for years and we are currently working together on an ongoing detail during the time of this podcast. Luke is the man who opened the door to me and let me into the world of private security. During this interview we talk about how our first meeting changed my life as he recruited me from a bouncer position and brought me to the next level. We study the dynamics of this encounter in order to help all the replicated and understand a little bit more about what it takes to make it in private security. After talking about who I am, my background and how I got into private security we go into a number of different topics around the subject. • Who am I • My background • Networking • Humility and confidence • Warlord and Guardian • Ideal executive protection mindset • What is executive protection? • Branding you represent three brands • The vanity of the industry • Why you may not be able to find work Support the Podcast www.patreon.com/join/ByronR For More www.executiveprotectionlifestyle.com
