For the second time in just a few months, we are talking Python on the Meta Tech Podcast. Python 3.12 features a whole range of new features, many of which were contributed by Meta. Carl and Itamar join Pascal to talk about their contributions to the latest release, including new hooks that allow for custom JITs like Cinder, Immortal Objects, improvements to the type system, faster comprehensions and much more. In their discussion, they talk not just about how and why those features were built but also the process of upstreaming and engaging with the community. Got feedback? This week we met up with our new friends Jack & Gabby from @thistiny.life who have lived in their tiny 56ft x 6ft floating home, for over three years. So before we head off backpacking next month, we drove Jits to Oxfordshire to find out what life of a narrowboat is like. It was Adam's first time on a canal boat and my second and we both absolutely loved it! Could this be the perfect alternative to van life? Since Jack and Gabby are passionate about sustainability, they have recently bought a new boat which they are converting into a fully electric, off-grid eco home. Here is a summary of the topics we cover: An introduction to narrowboats The appeals to living on a narrowboat Costs of living on a narrowboat Downsides to living this lifestyle Slow travel, life mantras & mindset Connect with and support Jack and Gabby on: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thistiny.life/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@thistinylife Website : https://thistiny.life/

This week Jits is parked outside the home of fellow travel YouTubers Sara & Luca, of Leave Everything & Wander. We were welcomed into their home, in the mountains in Northern Italy, spending two days cooking, eating, and enjoying quality time together. We are excited to extend these conversations with you here. In this episode we cover: Sara & Luca's back story. How they left their high-profile jobs, to pursue a life of adventure. Starting from scratch with a very modest budget, to leave everything and wander. Buying a scrappy camper truck for $800 (that was quite literally destined for the scrap yard), and used it to live & travel all the way from Alaska to Argentina. 6 weeks ago Luca suffered from 3 strokes. And Sara, quite literally saved his life through CPR. We have an emotional conversation about this near-death experience and how it's shaped their philosophy on life & love. Subscribe to Sara & Luca's YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@leaw Follow them on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/l_e_a_w/ PSA We highlight about the importance of getting a first aid course under your belt but we wish to reiterate the importance of this now - wherever you are listening, please join us in taking a 1st aid course we don't know whose live we could save in 2023. www.redcrossfirstaidtraining.co.uk
One of my corporate clients shared how he also felt some imposter syndrome after a recent promotion of his to a very high position in his company. Have you ever struggled from imposter syndrome? How frequently do you struggle w/imposter syndrome? What have you learned about yourself from your imposter syndrome? White to Blue Belt in my BJJ journey felt like going from an adolescent to a teen. Getting promoted to Purple Belt felt like my first “adult” belt. That thought / concept resonated with him. Shout out to John Roy, one of my previous BJJ coaches, for his constant help & coaching in my Jits journey. After two months driving along Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way (the world's largest tourist coastal route) in our campervan Jitters (aka Jits), Adam & I can confidently say that Ireland is van life heaven! If you've watched our Ireland vanlife travel series on YouTube), you'll understand why; we wild camped at beaches, lighthouses, lakes, mountains, cliffs … and drove through some spectacular cliffside roads where we felt compelled to stop every 5 minutes to take pictures. We also met some of the warmest, friendliest & most hospitable people along the way, and of course, made friends with a load of sheep, cows & horses too. If you are thinking about or planning to road trip Ireland in either a campervan or motorhome, then this is the episode for you. In this episode, we cover the following: - What makes Ireland stand-out and What About The weather? - Planning Your Route & Our Must See Recommendations - Activities: Hikes, Surfing, Star Gazing, Pubs & More - Where to stay: Wild Camping vs. Campsites - Budget Breakdown of our Expenses - Van Life Logistics (quick Fire-round of Q&A) - Testimonials from people in our van life community We've also jam-packed all of our valuable experiences in this blog post to help you plan for your own Irish coast adventure: https://www.jitsintothesunset.com/post/vanlife-ireland-ultimate-roadtrip-guide If you enjoyed this conversation, please leave a review for the Jits into the Sunset Show on Apple Podcasts or leave us a rating on Spotify! Show Notes:Welcome back for Episode 10! Today I want to talk to you about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as we sit down with Nick Chernoff, co-founder of BJJ Pandas and co-creator of the BJJ Panda Journeys: Stories from the Mat podcast. We talk about the road that led him to BJJ and how this physical hobby helped him manage his mental health. Next week, we get even more nerdy and weird as we sit down with Todd Uebele, creator of the Coffee with Jesus podcast, and discuss, you guessed it – writing fanfiction for video games… oh did you think… anyways. He's been writing for over 20 years and has lived a storied life while using fanfiction to process his thoughts and emotions and get better. Every now and again you meet someone that transcends your expectations. In Episode 17 we have the chance to rap with two such dudes, Michael Caro and Travis Swartzlander. These Brothers in arms are cut from the same cloth - Firefighters by day, Brazilian Jujitsu practitioners in the afternoon and competitive west coast swing dancers at night. We took the opportunity to discuss all of the above as well as Caro's company, Canejo Valley Advanced Wellness Medical Group. A great conversation with a couple of solid Brothers.
