SUMMER...inspires an even more ethereal brand of Ambient electronica. Whether flying or floating on the balmy breezes, the sounds are airy and the movement is light and buoyant. The words we use to describe the moods it creates are superlative: joyous, blissful, ecstatic, delightful — even heavenly. And when it comes to heaven, for some reason we prefer the seventh. On this transmission of Hearts of Space, an ambient-electronic-summer-journey called CLOUD NINE. Yes, we also number the clouds. Key Change

曲目单: (00:47) Brittany Howard - I Don't (04:25) Vampire Weekend - Capricorn (08:36) Faye Webster & Lil Yachty - Lego Ring (12:18) Goat Girl - ride around (16:26) youra feat. Germany in 1978 and 1979. Bass, Electronics, Norm Peach; Choir, Craig Wuest, Joan N., Marla T., Phil N.; Electric Guitar, Treated Guitar, Electronics (Tonewall), Dennis Rea; Flute, Woodwind, Tim Finnegan; French Horn, Flute, Marla Thomson; Producers, Craig Wuest, Klaus Schulze; Moog Modular System Programming, Technical Advice, Klaus Schulze; Sitar, Dirk Schmalenbach, Synthesizer, Sequencer, Mellotron, Biotron, Piano, Sitar, Harp, Effects, Voice, Vocoder, Bells , Percussion, Tape loops, Electronic Treatments, Craig Wuest; Violin, Phil Novak; Violin, Viola, Electronics, Louis Deponté; Violin, Electronics, Daryl Trivieri. (06:18) Edgar Froese, “PA 701” from Macula Transfer (1976 Brain). The material was composed during different flights during '75 and '76 while on tour with Tangerine Dream. Instruments, Composed By, Produced by, Edgar Froese. I'm not certain, but all of the tracks are named after airline flight numbers. I think this one was on Pan American. Recorded in June 1976 at Amber Studio, Berlin. (07:33) Beaver and Krause, “Gandharva” and “By Your Grace,” from Gandharva (1971 Warner Brothers). The Moog Modular is played by Bernie Krause, the pipe organ by Paul Beaver. Baritone Saxophone, Gerry Mulligan. Recorded at Grace Cathedral, San Francisco, February 10-11, 1971. This recording came at the height of the Moog craze (for which Beaver and Krause were largely responsible) and this music took a decidedly thoughtful turn with its jazz guests and spacious live sound recorded in a church. Having the Moog Modular in a live performance was a challenge and its presence is only apparent in the opening and several moments on this side of the album. But the organ and baritone saxophone alone provide a beautiful sonic experience. Inoyama Land is Yasushi Yamashita and Makoto Inoue. Roland Jupiter 8, System-100M, MC-4, Makoto Inoue. Recorded at Private Studio, Kichijōgi & Yugawara from Jan '82 to '83. This track was made by Inoue which he described as him “playing with repetitive octave, machine-like signal sounds.” (02:31) Arp, “Nzuku” from Ensemble—Live! (2019 Mexican Summer). Arp is Alexis Georgopoulos, an American electronic musician, composer, and music producer based in New York. Includes music from his LP, Zebra, as well as four original tracks. Zebra saw the diverse, New York-based artist exploring Fourth World, Japanese avant-garde, minimalism, kosmische, dub, cosmic jazz and more. This album was recorded live in the studio. Limited edition of 500 copies. (06:36) Ariel Kalma, “Reternelle” from Ariel Kalma (1975 Astral Muse). A spacey work for dual saxophones and tape echo, played by Kalma. (12:08) Masuko Shinji, “Woven Music for Silver Ocean” from Woven Music (2011 Jagjaguwar). Japanese singer and guitarist. Some soothing guitar electronics bordering on noise. Let your thoughts wander. Inoyama Land is Yasushi Yamashita and Makoto Inoue. Roland Jupiter 8, System-100M, MC-4, Makoto Inoue. Recorded at Private Studio, Kichijōgi & Yugawara from Jan '82 to '83. This track by Inoue came about by his “synchronizing the Jupiter 8 auto arpeggio with the System100M analogue sequencer with the sequencer VC (voltage control), which generates a curious phrase automatically.” (05:57) White Gourd, “La Lune” from Hermit / La Lune (2013 Psychic Sounds). “White Gourd is the solo work of Suzanne Stone. In addition to being a visual artist, herbalist, teacher, master gardener, and beekeeper, she is well known for involvement as vocalist & saxophonist in the experimental ensemble Million Brazilians.” This recording illustrates the dreamy nature of Stone's sound material used in her live performances; found objects, gongs, 78 player, piano and audio cassette loops. (18:10) Somei Satoh, “Echoes” from Emerald Tablet / Echoes (2020 WRWTFWW). Echoes taken from Somei Satoh's Echoes, Edition Omega Point (2003). It was composed for the "Mist, Sound, and Light Festival", held on May 20-19, 1981 at Kawaji, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. Composed and performed by Somei Satoh. For this event, Satoh composed music for the 10-day event organized by the hot spring tourist association of Kawaji. The work was played at the Kawaji hot spring's Ojika river valley using 8 gigantic loudspeakers set-up on hills surrounding the stream, with music played through an 8-channel-tape system. The echoes created by the work were accentuated as they reverberated through the outdoor location. (30:27) Less Bells, “Bird in Hand” and “Forest Ghosts” from Solifuge (2018 Kranky). Less Bells is Julie Carpenter. All Songs by, Violin, Cello, Synthesizers, Fender Rhodes Electric Piano, Omnichord, Julie Carpenter; Optigan Electric Organ, Buchla Music Box, Moog Modular Synthesizer, Dain Luscombe; Synthesizer, mixed by, Kenneth James Gibson; Vocals, Leah Harmon. Violinist/composer Julie Carpenter “. . . weaves orchestral and electronic textures to inhabit that boundary between storm and sun.” Can you say happy astral tripping? (08:39)   Opening background music: Ariel Kalma and Richard Tinti, “Forest Ballad” from Osmose(1978 SFP). Organ, Flute, Ariel Kalma; sound effects, Richard Tinti.   Opening and closing sequences voiced by Anne Benkovitz. Additional opening, closing, and other incidental music by Thom Holmes. Heba Kadry, Sarah Davachi, Marta Salogni and Faten Kanaan discuss why limitations can push creativity, how instruments can be an extension of the body, and why sounding “human” is better than pure perfection. Egyptian-born, Brooklyn-based mastering and mixing engineer Heba Kadry has worked with the likes of Beach House, serpentwithfeet, the Mars Volta, Yaeji and former Music Life guest Mykki Blanco. She also collaborated with Bjork on the iconic Utopia album, and worked on a number of film soundtracks, including the Oscar-nominated biopic Jackie. Grammy-nominated engineer, producer and mixer Marta Salogni started out as a live sound engineer in her home town of Brescia, Italy, before moving to London in 2010. She has since worked at some of the city's most renowned studios with artists including Bjork, M.I.A, fka Twigs and Frank Ocean. She was nominated for a Grammy in 2019 for her involvement in Bon Iver's i,i album. Inspired by cinematic forms and folklore traditions, Brooklyn-based composer and producer Faten Kanaan builds cyclical patterns in her music that she uses to tell stories. Having immersed herself in New York's electronic scene during the late 2000s, her most recent release, the spellbinding A Mythology Of Circles, is inspired by classical mythology and medieval music. Canadian-born, LA-based composer and performer Sarah Davachi “builds temples out of tone”, and is best known for her minimalist electroacoustic sound. She has held residencies around the world and collaborated with artists such as William Basinski, Ariel Kalma and the London Contemporary Orchestra.

This episode: Symphony of the Birds   Since the dawn of audio recording, people have been fascinated with capturing the sounds of birds. This episode explores early field recordings of birds, electronic music that uses the sound of birds as raw material, and the sound of synthetically generated bird sounds.     Playlist Beatrice Harrison, Nightingales (1927), a 78 RPM released by His Master's Voice, a United Kingdom label of RCA Victor at the time. “Recorded in Beatrice Harrison's garden, Oxted,” England. Probably wild birds in her garden. Karl Reich's Aviary, Bremen, Trés Jolie, Actual Song of Nightingales and Canaries, with Orchestra (1931). Bluebird Records in the US. Canary breeder Karl Reich (1885–1944) from Bremen (Germany) and his feathered choir of thirty trained canaries were the sensation on the record market in the late 1920s. от группы «Самое Большое Простое Число» и приглашенных музыкантов в «Рихтере»; - речной музыкальный круиз Coast 2 Coast с Marcellus Pittman, Rick Wilhite, Gacha Bakradze, DJ Sports, DJ Central и командой друзей и резидентов формации Roots United; - вечеринка SELECTORS на «Стрелке» с Vladimir Ivkovic, KrLow и Ilya Simonov; - ночное «событие-исследование» в новом клубе Mutabor с Lanark Artefax, Machine Woman, Buttechno, Poima, C.A.R., Simple Symmetry, TMO x Piankov, Powder, Odopt, Deena Abdelwahed, Abelle и Hipushit, организованный совместно с британским проектом Wet Sounds; - первый в России подводный концерт в бассейне под открытым небом «Чайка» с участием первопроходцев философии нью-эйдж и эмбиента – Laraaji, Ariel Kalma и выпускников RBMA разных лет и вечеринка закрытия с участием замбийского коллектива 70-х W.I.T.C.H. feat. Jacco Gardner на «Стрелке». Полная информация о проекте и билеты redbull.com/moscow vk.com/redbullfestmsk2019 facebook.com/events/2387644697953502

Shock World Service 072: Constellation Swan by Chloe Frieda (Alien Jams) 22/11/17 London, United Kingdom http://www.shockworldservice.com 1. Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe & Ariel Kalma - Miracle Mile This whole album is amazing, a collaboration between Robert A. A. Lowe and Ariel Kalma called "We Know Each Other Now Somehow." It was released on RVNG in 2015. 2. Xordox - Diamonds This release came out this year on Editions Mego, a project helmed by JG Thirlwel with Noveller featured in three of the tracks. Shimmering synths morph into an intense horror soundtrack. 3. recsund - Hall of Waits This one is by my partner Clifford Sage, I also included a glimmer of this track at the very beginning of the mix, It's from his release Deadsounds V. 4. Charles Manier - Mesrop I have a few of Manier's records (an alias of Tadd Mullinix) and I always go back to them! Gritty, weird, EBM, industrial goodness, it's hard to pick one track from the record as there are so many great tracks to choose from. 5. Alek Stark - GC 4406 Alek Stark has an impressive discography, dating back to 2002, many of which I have yet to check out. This release on CPU is pretty solid, some beautiful electro here. 6. Reckonwrong - Morton This track is from Reckonwrong's release on Pinkman, it's a hard one to categorise. I love how this track unfolds, especially with the "I feel that my music is important" vocal sample. 7. Rings Around Saturn - Synchrotron Synthy perfection from this electro gem. 8. Jensen Interceptor- Carter's Green Factory Another one from the mighty Central Processing Unit, a Drexcyan beauty. 9. Dreams - Gut Bounce This one fits well amongst the Apron back-catalogue, with chugging acid lines and floating melodies. 10. Morphology - Darkstar (The Hacker Remix) This track is from a remix record with The Exaltics, JTC, Sync 24 and Deixis on the label Cultivated Electronics. Dark and brooding electro remix by the Hacker. 11. Echo 106 - From Brunnen to the Nile Euphoric electro, this is one of my favourites. 12. Wilted Woman - Heating Problem New record on Alien Jams :) 13. Terribilis - Alucarda Released on a Quantum Natives compilation "Seize the Means of Production," her set at the ICA this year was wonderful.
