Om morgenen på selve dagen for Danmarks befrielse den 5. maj 1945 opdagede lokale beboere i det lille fiskerleje Klintholm Havn på Møn en ramponeret flodpram udenfor havnen. Prammens last viste sig at indeholde 345 udsultede, syge og døende fanger fra koncentrationslejren Stutthof nær Danzig, der havde været tvunget ud på en 11 dage lang flugt hen over Østersøen. Pludselig stod det lille samfund med en kolossal humanitær opgave. Den krævede en hurtig og ikke ufarlig indsats fra myndighederne på Møn, læger & sygeplejersker og det lokale Røde Kors. Det handlede om at skaffe mad, tøj, medicin, lægebehandling og indkvartering før det var for sent. Hjælpeindsatsen kom snart på benene takket været lokale frivillige herunder modstandsbevægelsen, så flest mulige fanger kunne overleve og forhindre, at dødelige epidemier kunne bryde ud i lokalsamfundet. Historien om denne store og vigtige indsats er blevet fortalt i bogen ”Skibet fra helvede” med underteksten ”Da Anden Verdenskrigs rædsler drev i land på Møn” af to forfattere, journalisterne Jesper Clemmensen og Thomas Albrektsen. Det er en fortælling, der også kommer ind på flere af de polske fangers gribende personlige historier om, hvad de måtte udstå af grusomheder, før de endte på Møn i det befriede Danmark, hvor nogle af fangerne siden fortsatte deres liv. This week we welcome Lisa Rogers, Jeremy Beagle, Eric Shapiro and Sarah Fanger. A lot is happening with the Indoor Air Quality Association and its time for an update. Joining us this week will be the President, 1st VP, Treasurer and Executive Director to fill us in. What is the current status of the organization? What are the plans for the associations education initiatives? What will happen with the chapters? How are plans for the convention in March coming along? The group joins us from Pete Consigli's Winter Break 2024 event in Bonita Springs, FL. Lisa Rogers has served as President of Mycometer Inc. the US subsidiary of a Danish based firm since 2007. She is the current President of the Indoor Air Quality Association and has served on numerous prestigious committees including as an invited participant on a NATO Science Advisory Committee developing international guidelines for indoor air quality issues. Jeremy Beagle, CIH is Senior Principal Scientist at SDII Global Inc. He has been performing causation assessments and expert witness testimony pertaining to water damage, fungal growth, and other indoor environmental concerns in the built environment for almost 20 years. Mr. Beagle is a Board-Certified Industrial Hygienist, a Council Certified Moisture Control Consultant and Council Certified Microbial Consultant. He is the current First Vice President of the Indoor Air Quality Association. Eric Shapiro, CIEC, CMC, CMRS has over 28 years of experience in the field of Mold and IAQ. He started out as an air-duct cleaner, which led to mold remediation and assessment projects. Eric currently runs his company, Indoor Air Quality Services, which is based in Florida and IAQS NJ, which is based in NJ. He is the current treasurer of IAQA. Sarah Fanger worked in non-profit associations as a meeting and event planner for over a decade, and earned the Certified Association Executive designation. In 2009 she pivoted into disaster restoration, opening and running her own independent business. In 2017 she shifted paths moving into a consulting and testing role, where she specialized in investigations for mold, moisture, and other indoor environmental hazards. Sarah is the current Executive Director of IAQA.

Allyson Fanger is best known for her costume design work on the popular Netflix series, “Grace and Frankie,” and recent work with "Shrinking" on Apple TV, "80 for Brady" of Paramount Pictures and "Act Your Age" on Bounce TV/MGM. In today's episode I speak with Ben Fanger, the Managing Partner and Founder of ShoreVest Partners, an investment firm that specializes in Chinese distressed debt and opportunistic credit. Ben is a pioneer in China's distressed debt markets, having worked on the country's first non-performing loan (“NPL”), as well as the first foreign-invested NPL deal 20 years ago. Since then, he has managed roughly $2 billion in Chinese distressed debt and special situations investments — and as you'll hear in this conversation, never lost money on an NPL.I encourage you to have your pen and paper at hand because you are going to want to take notes — this conversation is both broad and deep.In our discussion, Ben provides a clear overview of China's credit markets — which are the second-largest in the world — and lays out the ways that foreign investors can access them, including the spaces where ShoreVest plays.We discuss how the market has evolved over the last two decades. Another collection that's seen more ambient, ethereal, atmospheric music for our second March edition. Always eager to hear a new album from Steve Jolliffe; like the last few releases, just one track of changing structures & sounds. New faces to grace our airways are Elinch from German, a modular synthesist whose calm, slow-moving sound canvases develop into minimalist ambient epics. Female artist Allegorist has been meandering through stories with her purposeful and introspective take on electronic music, with London-based musician and filmmaker going under the name of Blessed Are The Hearts That Bend has a soundtrack to a non-existent film; listeners can create the movie in their head as the album washes over you, a film without pictures. It was totally unexpected to hear about the recent passing of Thomas Fanger, a significant player as a solo artist & with his collaboration with Manikin musician & label owner Mario Schonwalder & friends over the last couple of decades. As we sadly say farewell to Thomas, we've chosen the chill-out track, ‘Mopho Me' from the 2013 EP “Mopho Me Babe Mixes” with his good friend Mario & Klaus Hoffman Hock, who parted this world five years ago. Born in 1962, Bernhard Fanger is one of the “boomers” who has had an interesting career path that was anything but a straight line.As with many things, in retrospect, it is relatively easy to connect the dots of his military service, a carpentry apprenticeship, positions in management consulting and product management and later on the board of directors and supervisory boards of medium-sized stock corporations.The 25 years it took to draw that squiggly line were necessary to ultimately be able to take up self-employment as a consultant, mentor and author.As such Bernhard likes to find out how his clients feel in their current situation and as part of the company. He believes — and I agree — that working with standard concepts as these very often don't fit.Believing personal development can be easy and enjoyable, he likes to bring his clients into Nature for a combination of trekking and coaching.For those who won't, can't or can't join him on one of those coaching treks he wrote the book ‘That's how MAN does it: Strategies and ideas for managers who are reinventing themselves professionally'. Unfortunately not available in English just yet.A book specifically for male executives thinking of changing their professional lane and finding meaningful independence as a step onto a new path in their career.He wants to encourage both readers and clients as they contemplate making changes in their lives.
