Have you tried everything, but still feel like you can't lose weight? If you're frustrated with midlife weight gain and stubborn belly fat, the issue may be hormonal shifts and gut health. This is exactly what we dive into on the Wellness Revolution podcast with special guests Ann Marie Tom and Anoop Asok. We discuss the importance of reducing stress and improving gut health for weight loss and the fact that calorie restriction is not going to work if hormones are imbalanced. We also discuss the importance of healing leaky gut before menopause and how over-exercising is detrimental to your weight loss goals. Co-founders Ann Marie Tom and Anoop Asok use their Metabolic Mastery Method to offer a holistic approach to weight loss that considers metabolic health, gut issues, stress management, personalized nutrition, and exercise plans. They provide women with strategies that work with their changing bodies, rather than against them, to achieve sustainable weight loss results. Together they are known as the weight loss whisperers who focus on metabolic mastery and hormonal health to provide their clients with real results. In this episode, we discuss where so many of us go wrong when wanting to lose weight, the importance of calories versus quality of food, and the strategy to actually keep the weight off for good. Over to Anoop and Ann-Maria. Some questions asked during this episode: Where do many of us go wrong when wanting to lose weight? How can we ensure we keep the weight off? How important are calories vs the quality of food we eat? https://180nutrition.com.au/ This week I'm excited to welcome Anoop Asok and Ann-Maria Tom to the podcast. (01:15) Hey, guys. This is Stu from 180 Nutrition and I am delighted to welcome Ann-Maria and Anoop, also known as the weight loss whisperers to the podcast. Guys, how are you both today? Ann-Maria (01:27) We're doing fantastic. We are in the middle of winter here in Canada. It's cold, but it's good. Stu (01:37) Exactly right. Ann-Maria (01:38) [inaudible 00:01:38] here today. Stu (01:40) Fantastic. Well, I really appreciate you sharing some of your time. First up, for all of our listeners that may not be familiar with you or your work, I'd love it if you could just tell us a little bit about yourself, please. Ann-Maria (01:50) For sure, my name is Ann and this is Anoop and we are husband and wife. We are fitness coaches and we basically teach people how to lose weight while eating whatever they want, that's what we do. The reason why we got here and all that dates back to three, four years before when COVID started, everyone was sick. (02:16) We are also registered nurses in the ER. We were working in the emergency room at that point in time. We saw a lot of younger population coming through the emergency doors with variety of health issues, especially when we were in the middle of that COVID season. One of the reasons why we started our coaching back then. (02:36) One of the other reasons is also just our journeys, personal journeys, which we'll talk about here in a second, but we literally teach people how to lose weight by [inaudible 00:02:48] Stu (02:51) Well, it can be so confusing because there are a number of different strategies. If you were to jump on the internet right now, you'd see that some people say it's just all about the calories, that's all it is. Whereas other people say, "No, no, it's more about the quality of the food that you eat." Whereas other people say it's about the timing and maybe a mixture of those two as well. (03:12) Maybe there's a personal aspect to it where we need to look at our own physiology in terms of our genetics and our digestive system, et cetera things like that. I guess the question then in my eyes is that where do many of us go wrong? What are the glaring mistakes that we make when we want to lose weight? Ann-Maria (03:33) That's a great question. I think the reason why most of us or most of us are not able to lose weight and where we fall apart is the part that we go all in when it comes to the diet part. We cut a lot of food, then we go into this binge-eating and then we do a ton of exercise. There is not enough balance, I would say, in what we are trying to do, and that's where most people fall short. (04:03) As much as it is true that we need to be in a caloric deficit for us to lose weight, you have to make sure also that your body is ready for it. I don't know how many of you listening this know this, but yes, caloric deficit is required for you to lose weight, but most of the weight loss happens in our brain because the brain is what regulates the weight loss. (04:26) Our brain is literally our thermostat, meaning it wants to keep us in homeostasis, meaning our brain always prioritizes survival over weight loss. One of the biggest mistakes people are making these days is eating very few calories, cutting too much food all at once. Whenever our brain senses too much weight loss happening, again, it goes back to when I said it tries to bring us back to that homeostasis, the vital mechanism. (04:58) How does it do it? By really increasing, upping our hunger cues, making those donuts in the break room feel much more enticing and yummy than it normally is. Physiologically, our metabolic rate also slows down so that we can conserve more energy and send that right back to building up the [inaudible 00:05:21]. Technically, when you are trying to ease eat less food, your brain wants to cheat more. (05:28) The hunger is what is going to really give you in those situations. Sometime we don't even realize when that we are in such a drastic caloric deficit, we end up eating more at the end of the day. When you are below reaching that set points, metabolically speaking, you end up eating more to maintain that same level of hunger you had before. (05:55) This is why it's really impossible for you to maintain that weight that you lost with intense calorie restriction. One of the reasons, biggest reason why yo-yo dieting is the best diet out there for weight gain not for weight loss. Yes, to answer your question, eating less food and [inaudible 00:06:15] For full interview and transcript: https://180nutrition.com.au/uncategorized/anoop-asok-ann-maria-tom-interview/

A., Shafiian, N., Fioriti, L., Soni, R. K., Kandel, E. Abstract: Biomolecular condensates, membraneless organelles found throughout the cell, play critical roles in many aspects of cellular function. Ribonucleoprotein granules (RNPs), a type of biomolecular condensate found in neurons that are necessary for local protein synthesis and are involved in long-term potentiation (LTP). Several RNA-binding proteins present in RNPs are necessary for the synaptic plasticity involved in LTP and long-term memory. Most of these proteins possess low complexity motifs, allowing for increased promiscuity. We explore the role the low complexity motif plays for RNA binding protein cytoplasmic polyadenylation element binding protein 3 (CPEB3), a protein necessary for long-term memory persistence. We found that RNA binding and SUMOylation are necessary for CPEB3 localization to the P body, thereby having functional implications on translation. Here, we investigate the role of the low complexity motif of CPEB3 and find that it is necessary for P body localization and downstream targeting for local protein synthesis. In today's episode, we take a very short break from regular programming - as I present to you my talk at my alma mater, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras last year. This is a talk called ‘The Unseen Forces Driving Mass Adoption Of Technologies' - featuring 8 key takeaways from season 1 of How Things Grow. I spoke to some of the smartest engineering students in India - the Indian Institutes of Technology(the IITs) tend to be super-selective and have an acceptance rate of under 1%. Fun fact: in one of my favorite Dilbert strips, Asok says: “Luckily, I'm an IIT Graduate, superior to most people on earth, so I finished the project myself.” Dilbert asks him: “Are you tired?” Asok says: “I am trained to only sleep during national holidays.”(https://dilbert.com/strip/2003-09-15 ) These were the kind of kids I spoke to. Anyway, while some of the effect is lost in podcast form because the actual talk was accompanied by a slide deck, I think you'll still find some of the takeaways & highlights from season 1 very interesting. Without further ado, here you go on my talk: The unseen forces that drive mass-market adoption of technologies - 8 lessons from season 1 of How Things Grow.**Get more goodies here:http://MobileUserAcquisitionShow.comhttp://RocketShipHQ.comhttp://RocketShipHQ.com/blog

Soulful three deck mastery from the Swiss don. Interview with @deetron + tracklist: melbournedeepcast.net/portfolio/deetron "There are a lot of my favorites of 2018 in there as well as a fair bit of classic records that I just can't seem to get out of the bag. As usual I'm striving to pick records from the more melodic side of techno with the odd housey bits thrown in. I basically love all the records in the mix obviously, however if I had to pick a few records it would be the ASOK track, Bambounou, the incredible Barker track, Kenny's Remix for Freq, which I recently re-discovered, that amazingly simple acid tune by Donato Dozzy and my favorite soul house record to date, Peven Everett's 'How Bad I Want You'. I am honoured to be able to contribute a mix to this series especially as I have a long history playing in Melbourne, dating back to 2002 if I'm not mistaken. The great vibes of this city have certainly been in the back of my head when putting this mix together."
Ki lehet fogni, de csak úgy simán meg is lehet venni.
To listen to the records that Stu Robinson has put out under his ASOK moniker you'd think that he's been producing for years. Deep, rolling techno and house music that has such a distinctive feel that you can pick his tracks out a mile off. In actual fact he only got into production relatively recently but that's only half the story. With a deep love of electronic music that goes back to his school days in the early 90s he has lived and breathed this scene for over two decades. I caught up with Stu over Skype to dig into his story and we really do go deep. We chatted for ages covering his first forays into the northern hard core and jungle scene, how he balances being a dad and a touring DJ right up to his new label venture, Four Triangles. It was a real pleasure to chat to someone with such unending enthusiasm for electronic music in all its forms. Well maybe except for trance that is.

For Avenue Red 090 we present for the first time a DJ from Portugal, Edward Bei (real name Eduardo Vaz), who comes from the town of Famalicão near Braga in the north of the country. Also a graduate student of electronic music production and a keen sonic innovator, here Edward takes us on a trip through all kinds of lo-fi/garagey/deep/dubby House & Techno tunes. The mix flows like a dream and has some distinctly summery overtones. "I think one of the pleasures in DJ'ing are the little 'storylines' that you can create between two songs, and with the right choices, extend that story through the mix. And at the same time, being open to change the story completely. I'm from Northern Portugal and I played in cities like Porto, Vila Real and Castelo Branco (where I studied musical production), but the beautiful Lisbon is still missing from my DJ's curriculum vitae. Lately I've been mainly focused on production. I started making music from techno to ambient and experimental music under the name Blue Hand. Currently I'm working on my first releases around deep house and dub techno, and I think this mix reflects much of my inspiration. My influences started at the age of 15 with artists like Louie Vega and Frankie Knuckles. Nowadays I get much inspiration from artists like Fred P, Asok, Adham Zahran, Sven Weisemann and many more. And, of course, I have to include in my list these great podcasts with such great selections. Avenue Red has been giving me so much good food to my ears over the last few years, so I'm very glad be a part of it now :)" Edward Bei, May 2017 https://soundcloud.com/edwardbei https://soundcloud.com/bluehand7 https://bluehand.bandcamp.com/

Interview with @asok-music: www.melbournedeepcast.net/portfolio/asok/ "Mix is straight up a collection of where I am right now – rave noises and breakbeat kind of vibe, lots of hi hats smacking around off each other, rollers, pitched down jungle. Pitched up house, bells, bleeps and a bit of the old tambourine. At heart I'm a Junglist still, I guess I always will be, and you can probably hear that tinted in the things I do even though it might not be 170bpm. There's loads of new stuff in here, some old, some things off the album, something off the new Bantam Lions album… all the usual stuff. It's dark in bits and not so dark in others. There's no trance in it, which is a great shame."
