If you are taking HRT, it is not enough to only ask how much estrogen you are using. You also have to ask a second question: how well is your body actually processing and clearing that estrogen? In this episode, I sit down with David Roberts and John Gilday from Mara Labs to unpack estrogen metabolism, estrogen receptors, environmental hormone disruptors, detoxification pathways, and why the conversation around "estrogen dominance" is often way too simplistic. We talk about the difference between having high estrogen and having estrogen that is not being metabolized efficiently, especially in perimenopause when estrogen can fluctuate wildly while progesterone starts dropping. We also get into xenoestrogens, microplastics, estrogen metabolites, the body's phase one, phase two, and phase three detoxification pathways, and why compounds like sulforaphane, resveratrol, black cohosh, and curcumin have become so interesting in the conversation around midlife health. The big message here is that hormone optimization is not always about adding more. Sometimes it is about making sure the body has the tools it needs to use, metabolize, and eliminate hormones effectively. In this episode, we cover: What "estrogen dominance" can actually mean in perimenopause Why low progesterone can change the way estrogen affects the body Estrogen receptor alpha versus estrogen receptor beta How xenoestrogens and endocrine-disrupting chemicals may interfere with hormonal signaling Why estrogen metabolism matters whether your estrogen is natural or coming from HRT Phase one, phase two, and phase three detoxification explained Why genetics may affect how efficiently women metabolize estrogen What sulforaphane is and why broccoli sprouts get so much attention Sulforaphane vs DIM for estrogen metabolism The roles of resveratrol, black cohosh, carnosic acid, and curcumin Why inflammation, oxidative stress, and detoxification are all connected How supplements may fit into a broader midlife hormone strategy For the next week, Hormone Solution loyal listeners can get an exclusive 25% off all Mara Labs products when you go to mara-labs.com/HORMONES use code HORMONES at checkout. Join The Circle and use code "PODCAST": https://holplus.co/circle/ What if the fasting, workouts, and eating patterns that are supposed to improve your metabolism are actually working against your hormones? In this episode of hol+ with Dr. Taz MD, women's hormone expert Alisa Vitti explains why women in their reproductive years have a second biological clock that most health and fitness advice completely ignores. Known as the infradian rhythm, this approximately month-long cycle affects metabolism, cortisol, immune function, brain activity, energy, appetite, and exercise performance.Alisa breaks down the follicular, ovulatory, luteal, and menstrual phases and explains how nutritional needs, metabolism, and stress tolerance change throughout the cycle. She shares how the Cycle Syncing Method can help women adjust their food, exercise, recovery, and daily routines to better support these biological changes.Dr. Taz and Alisa also challenge some of the most popular advice given to women about intermittent fasting and fasted exercise. Alisa explains why she believes women should fuel before working out, why glucose is needed to build lean muscle, and how combining carbohydrates with protein and fat may support blood sugar stability and workout performance.Alisa shares her personal experience with PCOS, maintaining a significant weight loss, losing additional body fat by eating more, and intentionally building muscle as she approaches 48. She explains why blood sugar regulation is the first step she recommends for women experiencing PMS, PCOS, infertility, fibroids, perimenopause, or other hormonal concerns. The conversation also explores progesterone, estrogen dominance, cortisol, HRT, ovarian aging, hot flashes, strength training, environmental exposures, and the habits that may help women protect their hormonal health throughout every stage of life.In this episode:Why women have both circadian and infradian biological rhythmsHow the menstrual cycle affects metabolism, cortisol, immunity, and the brainWhat happens during the follicular, ovulatory, luteal, and menstrual phasesWhy women may need more calories during the luteal phaseHow blood sugar instability may affect cortisol and progesteroneWhy Alisa says women should never work out in a fasted stateWhat to eat before strength training to support lean muscleHow Alisa structures protein, carbohydrates, and meal timing throughout her dayWhy strength training is important during every phase of the cycleHow to modify cardio and recovery throughout the menstrual cycleWhy eating more helped Alisa lose additional body fat and build muscleThe relationship between blood sugar, PCOS, PMS, and perimenopauseHow fasting recommendations may change after menopauseWhere HRT fits into a broader hormone-support strategySimple habits that may support healthier hormonal agingWhether ovarian aging can be slowed or partially reversedAbout Alisa Vitti:Alisa Vitti is a women's hormone and functional nutrition expert, bestselling author, and creator of the Cycle Syncing Method. No food on this planet's going to fix your progesterone, and estrogen dominance is not nearly as simple as the word makes it sound.I know, I know. That's a lot to hit you with in one sentence. But I needed to say it before we even got started, because these two things get more misinformation thrown at them than almost anything else in the hormone space. That's exactly why I brought my friend Dr. Heather Rhodes on the podcast this week: she and I both get the same questions over and over in our practices, and we're both so tired of watching women chase quick fixes that were never going to work in the first place. So we sat down and answered your biggest hormone questions, no fluff, no clickbait, just the actual truth about what's going on in your body. We're covering estrogen dominance, progesterone production, the "no time to balance my hormones" excuse, and what actually moves the needle when it comes to feeling good in your body again.Fair warning: we are busting a few myths in this one, including one that might make you side-eye your favorite wellness influencer just a little. Here's what we get into:The mindset trap behind "I don't have time to balance my hormones" and why your brain might be the one keeping you stuckThe blunt truth about whether food alone can raise your progesterone (spoiler, it's more complicated than any reel will tell you)The sneaky reason your labs keep coming back "normal" even though you feel like a completely different person for two weeks a monthFour (maybe five) totally different reasons you could be dealing with estrogen dominance symptoms, and why treating all of them the same way can backfireWhy going back to basics, not adding more supplements or more rules, is usually where the biggest shifts happenA mindset shift Heather shares about what your symptoms are actually trying to tell you, and why hearing it might change how you see your whole cycleLet's start with time, because I think almost every woman I know says some version of "I just don't have time for this." Heather made a point that stuck with me. If your brain is locked onto the belief that you don't have enough time, that is exactly what it's going to keep proving true. And being stretched that thin, having everyone need a piece of you all day long, can literally be part of what's throwing your hormones off to begin with. Here's the part that surprised me though. You're already eating. You're already making food choices every single day. You're probably already moving your body in some way. The work isn't necessarily adding more to your plate; it's getting more intentional about what you're already doing. Heather said something to a client once that I think about constantly: "You didn't need to go back to the basics. You were already doing the basics. You just weren't very good at them yet." Ouch. But also, kind of a relief. Then we got into progesterone, and this is where I need you to sit down for a second. That reel telling you "eat these foods to boost progesterone" is oversimplified; Heather flat out says there are no foods that increase progesterone. None. You could eat three buckets of ashwagandha a day (please don't), and if your nervous system doesn't feel safe, your body still isn't going to prioritize making more of it. Your progesterone being low is a signal, not a supplement deficiency. It could be stress, it could be undereating, it could be your body simply not feeling safe enough to ovulate well. Nutrition matters, don't get me wrong, but it's a piece of a much bigger picture. And can we talk about estrogen dominance for a second? Because I feel like every woman I know has self-diagnosed this one at some point, myself included. Here's the thing that Heather broke down so well. You could have all the classic "high estrogen" symptoms and actually have low estrogen that's just not clearing properly. You could have symptoms because you're not ovulating at all, which means estrogen is the only hormone showing up, even if your levels are technically low. You could be dealing with estrogen mimickers from your environment, your skincare, your food containers, or your job if you work in a salon. There are at least four, maybe five, completely different roots that can all look identical on the surface. That's exactly why grabbing an estrogen blocker off the internet without knowing your actual cause can leave you worse off than when you started.I know this can feel like a lot. Heather made a comment that made me laugh because it's so true: your brain will absolutely convince you that fixing this is going to take way more time and effort than it actually will. But once you know your starting point, the changes are usually smaller and simpler than you think. One of my favorite moments in this episode is when we talk about seeing your symptoms as your body talking to you instead of your body being broken or working against you. That shift alone changes how you show up for yourself every single day.If you've been spinning your wheels trying every protocol on the internet and nothing sticks, this episode will help you understand why and give you a clearer starting point than another list of foods to eat.Press play and let's figure out what your body's actually been trying to tell you this whole time.CONNECT WITH DR. Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: Katie: Hi! Love listening to the podcast and grateful you give a chance to submit questions! I had an allergic reaction on my face and neck a few months ago. Derm called it atopic dermatitis. This came on after a micro needling treatment. First and last unfortunately. That has all resolved now, but I'm left with this hypopigmentation around my mouth and neck (neck has the worst inflammation) where spots are white now, especially if I tan. Any suggestions on how to resolve this loss of pigment? Thanks!! Anonymous: Hi! I am 34 years old. I have always thought I have PMDD, after ovulation I feel more sad/depressed/anxious amongst other things. I also have very painful heavy periods for context if it's helpful. I noticed the last 3-4 months the symptoms I have leading up to my period have been changing. I have started sweating more, which also smells more which has never been an issue for me. I also feel a little nauseous for a few days before my period amongst other things that aren't coming to mind right now. I'm wondering if something could have shifted in me to cause this? Do you have any insight, if I could afford to test I would, but I was hoping you'd have some insight for me. Thank you so much. Trish: Hi Dr Cabral - I wrote in a few weeks ago asking the difference between Estrogen support and balance. The reason I'm not sure which one to use is I took your individual labs you offer for Estrogen and Progesterone. Results on both were in the yellow low range tip of red range. The email recommended I take progesterone support and Estrogen support but I was told I was estrogen dominant which I thought would mean I take Estrogen balance. This is why I'm confused as to which estrogen to take. I take all the other products the email protocol is recommending. Thanks for your advice. You are so appreciated for the work you do. Mohamed: Hey Dr.Cabral, hope all is well. My question is regarding Reverse Osmosis water and lower pH versus alkalinity (CaCo3). These two are different from my understanding, the alkalinity is the water's ability to buffer acid/resist changes in pH. If Aquatru RO water filters everything, the alkalinity would in theory be very minimal. In comparison, Gerolsteiner or other high Bicarb mineral water have higher buffering capability. I'm asking regarding my research into urine pH and tumor (microenvironment). I want to increase urine pH along with other strategies. Since tumor Microenvironemt (extracellular) is typically acidic. Want to try increasing alkalinity and observe via urine pH to enhance effect of other strategies such as diet etc. How can I increase alkalinity of water? and best foods? Paige: Hey Dr Cabral! I found I have some sort of bump over my liver April of 2024 seemingly superficial and I notice no symptoms or pain or discomfort with it is just annoying when I do yoga as it stays local but I can feel it move slightly in the local area. I just did a 21 day detox and felt like it may have gone down a little. I am going to be doing the big 5 test to determine any other underlined concerns that may help but just curious what you would do in my circumstance if anything. Thank you I greatly appreciate your time and knowledge Sir. Have a great day! Spend enough time on TikTok or Instagram and almost every symptom from fatigue and weight gain to anxiety, irregular periods, brain fog, and poor sleep, can suddenly become evidence that your hormones are "out of balance" - but a viral video is not a diagnosis. In this episode of Confessions of a Male Gynecologist, Dr. Shawn Tassone breaks down some of the most common hormone claims circulating on social media and explains why women's hormonal health is rarely as simple as one symptom, one lab value, one supplement, or one trending diagnosis. Dr. Tassone takes a closer look at hormone imbalance, cortisol, adrenal fatigue, PCOS, estrogen dominance, perimenopause, hormone testing, and supplements, and why context matters before deciding what is actually happening in your body. In this episode, Dr. Tassone discusses: What people actually mean when they say their hormones are imbalanced Why cortisol has become one of the internet's favorite hormones to blame The problem with diagnosing yourself with "adrenal fatigue" from fatigue, stress, or burnout Why symptoms alone aren't enough to diagnose PCOS What should actually be considered during a proper PCOS evaluation Why the term "estrogen dominance" is often oversimplified online How perimenopause symptoms can overlap with thyroid problems, stress, metabolic issues, sleep disorders, and other conditions Why your medical history can matter just as much as a hormone panel The truth about supplements marketed to "balance your hormones" Why a supplement can be useful without every claim made about it being true The difference between educating women about their bodies and convincing women that every symptom means something is hormonally wrong How social media algorithms can reward certainty and sensational claims when good medicine often requires nuance Dr. Tassone isn't arguing that women should stop asking questions about their hormones or that conventional medicine always gets women's health right. Quite the opposite. Women deserve better information, better conversations, and clinicians willing to investigate symptoms instead of dismissing them. But replacing medical dismissal with social-media self-diagnosis isn't the answer either. Your symptoms are real. The diagnosis still matters. If you've ever wondered whether you really have a hormone imbalance, whether cortisol is behind your symptoms, whether you should be taking another "hormone balancing" supplement, or whether TikTok has convinced you that you have three different endocrine disorders, this episode is for you. In this Hormone Hotline episode, I'm answering a powerful question about estrogen HRT, histamine intolerance, and mast cell activation during perimenopause and long COVID. Why do histamine flares explode when hormones start shifting? Is estrogen really the villain—or is something deeper driving the chaos? I share my own long battle with histamine hives, food reactions, and hormone swings—and what finally moved the needle. Why do so many women get worse on a low histamine diet over time? Could unstable estrogen levels be more triggering than estrogen itself? And what role does progesterone really play in calming mast cells? We also dive into the nervous system piece that almost no one talks about. Is long COVID keeping your body stuck in fight-or-flight? Could therapies like stellate ganglion block, NAD, low-dose naltrexone, GLP-1s, or specific peptides actually reset immune overreactions? And how do you introduce hormones when you're sensitive to everything? In this episode, we uncover: How estrogen fluctuations can trigger histamine and mast cell flares. Why progesterone may calm both anxiety and histamine symptoms. role the nervous system plays in long COVID and MCAS. How peptides and GLP-1 medications may reduce inflammatory signalling. Why micro-dosing hormones can be safer for sensitive women. Press play and let's unpack what might really be driving your symptoms, and what you can do about it! In this episode, Tina sits down with functional nutrition coach Lois Hughey to dig into what's really going on behind the scenes when it comes to fat loss in midlife — things like metabolic slowdown, chronic under-eating, estrogen imbalances, gut issues, and sluggish liver detox. They chat about why standard blood tests often miss the full picture, how functional tests like GI-MAP and DUTCH can give you deeper insights, and why sometimes fat loss needs to take a backseat to actual healing. Here's what you'll learn: - Why eating as little as possible trains your body to resist fat loss - What metabolic adaptation actually is and how it develops over time - The functional testing patterns she sees again and again in women who are stuck - How estrogen dominance shows up on stool testing and why it matters, especially before adding HRT - Why gut dysfunction often drives hormonal symptoms - Why you can't shortcut healing or do things out of order - What realistic timelines for healing and body recomposition really look like Join Peptide School [FREE]: https://www.carrotsncake.com/peptideschool Connect with Tina Haupert: https://carrotsncake.com/ Facebook: Carrots 'N' Cake https://www.facebook.com/carrotsncake Instagram: @carrotsncake https://www.instagram.com/carrotsncake YouTube: Tina Haupert https://www.youtube.com/user/carrotsncake About Tina Haupert: Tina Haupert is the owner of Carrots ‘N' Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). Today, she and her team use advanced testing to uncover the why behind slow progress, fatigue, bloating, sleep issues, and stubborn weight gain. Her signature programs combine data-driven insights with simple, sustainable nutrition and movement strategies that help women feel in control of their bodies again. Lois has coached hundreds of women to rebuild their metabolism, gain confidence, and lose 15–40 pounds without extreme diets or endless cardio. Welcome to the very first Hormone Hotline episode of The Hormone Solution! I'm getting straight into your real-life questions about estrogen—because why, in 2026, are we still being told we're "estrogen dominant" with rock-bottom levels? If your doctor has warned you against HRT, this episode is for you. Have you been told you can't start estrogen until you hit full menopause? Or that perimenopause is just too much of a "hormone rollercoaster" to treat? I break down what's actually happening in your brain and ovaries during late perimenopause, and why adding estrogen might calm the chaos instead of fueling it. And what about those scary detox pathways and DUTCH test results? Does favoring a certain estrogen metabolite mean you're disqualified from HRT? I unpack the myths around estrogen metabolism, aging, bone loss, mood, and even biological age. Could estrogen be one of the most powerful anti-aging tools we have? In this episode, we uncover: Why "estrogen dominance" in menopause often makes no physiological sense. How estrogen therapy can stabilize perimenopausal hormone rollercoasters. What DUTCH test results really mean for HRT candidacy. Why waiting until menopause may accelerate aging and bone loss. How estrogen impacts mood, metabolism, and long-term mortality risk. If you've been confused, dismissed, or flat-out denied estrogen, you need to hear this episode! Have a question for our next Hormone Hotline episode? Fill out our form here. If you’ve been "eating clean," tracking your macros, and strictly following a low FODMAP diet but you’re still dealing with bloating, puffiness, and anxiety, this episode is a must-listen. If your "IBS" feels more like full-body inflammation—or if it flares right before your period—it’s time to stop looking at FODMAPs and start looking at histamine. Today, we are unpacking why low FODMAP isn't a "forever" fix and how a gut-immune-hormone feedback loop might be the real reason you aren't healing. In this episode, we dive into: Histamine 101: Why this normal immune chemical becomes a nightmare when your "bucket" overflows and your DAO enzymes can't keep up. The "Inflammatory Bloat": How to tell the difference between standard gas and a histamine reaction (clue: do leftovers, spinach, or wine wreck you?). The Estrogen-Histamine Loop: Why your symptoms fluctuate with your cycle and why histamine spikes often mirror PMS and perimenopausal flares. Beyond Food Restrictions: Why histamine intolerance isn’t a root cause—it’s a symptom—and how stress and SIBO are fueling the fire. The 4-Step Repair Plan: From "calming the fire" with nervous system regulation to fixing the hormone drivers that allow histamine to build up. Histamine intolerance isn’t a life sentence of avoiding avocados; it’s a signal that your system needs deep, root-cause support. Your gut isn't broken, it's just over-responsive. P.S. If you’re tired of the guessing game and want to find out if histamine is the missing piece of your IBS puzzle, let’s jump on Zoom for a quick call and brainstorm how to get to the root cause. On this episode, Jared and Jen break down one of the most misunderstood hormone issues affecting both women and men: estrogen dominance. This isn't always about having “too much estrogen”—it's about a ratio problem, driven largely by low or depleted progesterone. You'll learn how estrogen is metabolized through different liver pathways, why some forms of estrogen are far more disruptive than others, and how liver health, gut function, stress, blood sugar, and environmental exposures all shape hormone balance. The episode also explores how estrogen dominance shows up differently in women and men, why symptoms often persist even when labs look “normal,” and how modern lifestyle factors quietly stack the deck against hormonal health.Jared and Jen also take an honest look at hormonal birth control, endocrine disruptors, seed oils, and genetic factors that can impair estrogen clearance—without fear-mongering or oversimplification. The episode closes with a clear, practical framework for supporting estrogen metabolism, restoring progesterone balance, and addressing the root causes naturally.Products:LiverVitalityEndoCleanseBack on TractVital D3/K2Ultimate Vitality MultiActive B ComplexMagnesium BisglycinateAdditional Information:#588: The Hidden Epidemic Part 1: How Endocrine Disruptors Are Hijacking Your Health#589: The Hidden Epidemic Part 2: The Complete Endocrine Detox Strategy#595: The Estrobolome Explained: How Your Gut Shapes Your HormonesCheck out all five“Jen's Story” Episodes!Dirty Genes - Book by Dr. Ben LynchVisit the podcast website here: VitalityRadio.comYou can follow @vitalitynutritionbountiful and @vitalityradio on Instagram, or Vitality Radio and Vitality Nutrition on Facebook. The Alcohol Estrogen Trap: Why Men Get "Puffy" & The Truth About Asian Glow | The Prime Podcast Ep. 352 Episode Description: Why do former athletes suddenly get a "round face" two years after retiring? Why does alcohol make some people turn bright red while others just get bloated? In Episode 352 of the Prime Podcast, Dr. Skip and Dr. Julie Wies uncover the physiological chaos alcohol causes during the holidays. We aren't just talking about hangovers; we're talking about Estrogen Dominance. Learn how alcohol messes with liver filtration, leading to lower testosterone and that characteristic "puffy" inflammation seen in many men (and why stopping can lead to a "Post Malone" style transformation). We also dive into the science of the "Asian Glow" (hint: it's actually an allergic reaction), why red wine's health benefits are largely a myth, and why the dating scene is rapidly shifting toward "Sober Curious" and Dry Bars. In This Episode, You Will Learn: The Estrogen Connection: How alcohol increases estrogen in men, leading to belly fat and facial bloating. Asian Glow Science: Why turning red after drinking is a sign your body cannot methylate or process the toxin. The "Post Malone" Effect: How cutting alcohol reduces systemic inflammation and radically changes your face shape. The Holiday Binge: Dealing with the 37% of people who drink to excess between Halloween and New Year's. Sober Dating: Why "Dry" is becoming a status symbol on dating apps. On this episode of Vitality Radio, Jared welcomes functional medicine dietitian and gut-health expert Lisa Smith for a deep dive into one of the most overlooked systems influencing hormone balance: the estrobolome. If you've never heard that word before, you're not alone — but by the end of this conversation you'll understand why the estrobolome may be the missing link in stubborn hormone symptoms, estrogen dominance, thyroid sluggishness, mood changes, and even men's testosterone challenges. Jared and Lisa break down how gut bacteria influence estrogen detoxification, what beta-glucuronidase is actually doing behind the scenes, why bile flow matters (especially if you don't have a gallbladder), and how fiber, cruciferous vegetables, and targeted nutrients can support healthy hormone metabolism. This is a practical, empowering discussion designed to help you understand root causes rather than chase symptoms. Whether you're navigating perimenopause, PCOS, thyroid issues, mood swings, stubborn weight, or low energy, this episode brings science down to earth with simple, realistic starting points for rebuilding gut balance and restoring hormonal resiliency — naturally and safely.Products:Precision ProbioticLiverVitality EndoCleanseAdditional Information:Pretty Well PodcastInstagramLisa Smith WellnessVisit the podcast website here: VitalityRadio.comYou can follow @vitalitynutritionbountiful and @vitalityradio on Instagram, or Vitality Radio and Vitality Nutrition on Facebook. Join Patreon to get access to HTMA case studies here! Some of your loudest hormone symptoms are actually mineral problems in disguise. In this episode, I pick up our December mineral series and move from the foundation minerals into the tiny trace players that run the control panel. Minerals like copper, zinc, iron, manganese, chromium, selenium and boron act as cofactors for hormones, thyroid and blood sugar, and they can make or break energy, mood and cycles even when the basics look ok. On paper, a lot of women are told everything looks “normal” while their bodies are clearly not ok. I get into what it feels like when minerals are out of balance, from emotional spikes and wired-tired nights to heavy, painful cycles and those nagging aches that never quite go away. Instead of chasing every new fix, I zoom out to show how your system compensates and what that reveals about where support actually needs to go.This is part 2 of 3 of my Mineral Series. Tune into episodes 12 and 14 to deepen your knowledge. You'll Learn:[00:00] Introduction[01:32] Why trace minerals act like the body's control panel even when macros look good[03:36] The real reason copper makes symptoms worse when it isn't bioavailable[04:22] The overlooked signs your body isn't tolerating a copper IUD[11:11] How hair testing reveals hidden copper stored in tissues when blood looks normal[12:53] What zinc really does for fertility and thyroid function beyond immunity[13:48] Why zinc backfires when sodium is low and the surprising symptoms that follow[19:19] The connection between gut health, iron overload, and “mystery” fatigue[22:46] How manganese supports joints, blood sugar, and the nervous system in ways most women miss[26:38] The thyroid-protective role of selenium and why depletion hits detox hard[27:41] The way boron helps hormones communicate and why stress quietly drains itRelated Hormone Healing Episodes:Master Your Minerals Course | WebsiteHow to do mineral testing | EpisodeCalcium deep dive | EpisodeMagnesium deep dive | EpisodeSodium deep dive | EpisodePotassium deep dive | EpisodeMaster your minerals. On this episode of Vitality Radio, Jared opens part one of a powerful new series on what he calls the hidden epidemic—the widespread and silent impact of endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) on hormones, brain chemistry, metabolism, and long-term health. After more than a year and a half of deep research, Jared and his wife Jen have uncovered how these chemicals mimic hormones, block receptors, interfere with detox pathways, disrupt neurotransmitters, and contribute to challenges like fatigue, low motivation, stubborn weight gain, PMS, anxiety, sleep struggles, and declining testosterone in both men and women. This episode explains why the endocrine system is struggling more than ever, how EDCs create thyroid chaos, hormonal imbalance, and neurochemical disruption, and what steps you can begin taking right now to start clearing these compounds from your environment and your body. If you've been dealing with symptoms that “don't match” your lab work, if you've struggled to feel balanced despite doing the right things, or if you've suspected environmental chemicals may be affecting you or your family, make sure to listen to Part 2 and stay tuned for future episodes. This is a big issue, but there are real answers and we are bringing them to you very soon on Vitality Radio.Products:LiverVitalityEndoCleanseBack On TractVital D3/K2Source Naturals Nattokinase 50mg - Vitality Radio POW! In this special episode of "Pick Dr. Osborne's Brain," I'll discuss the significant issue of estrogen dominance, which occurs when estrogen levels are too high relative to other hormones, leading to various health problems. Symptoms include brain fog, memory issues, gynecomastia in men, and skin manifestations like cherry angiomas. We'll dive into the role of diet, particularly the impact of refined sugars, gluten, and excessive carbohydrates, in exacerbating estrogen dominance. Chronic stress and exposure to environmental chemicals, such as pesticides and hormone-laden meats, are also contributing factors. We'll also touch on the importance of maintaining a balanced diet rich in micronutrients for proper hormone metabolism. Finally, I'll address various health concerns related to estrogen dominance, including its connection to conditions like endometriosis and the effects of birth control on hormone levels.Gluten Sensitive? THE BETTER BELLY PODCAST - Gut Health Transformation Strategies for a Better Belly, Brain, and Body
Happy last Thursday in May! As we round out the end of May, I (Allison) am finishing up the last week of my maternity leave! To celebrate this, we're pulling content from our group coaching calls inside our private coaching group, the Better Belly Blueprint, to share with YOU. Today's topic is from my client Melissa. She asked: "My previous functional medicine provider put me on a supplement for my estrogen dominance about a year ago. Since then, I have been taking I-3-C Plus Dim and Calcium-D-Glucarate everyday. I feel that it has helped me so much with my PMDD symtoms as well as gallbladder symptoms and notice a difference when I miss doses. Do I need to stop taking this for awhile when I do my DUTCH test? Would this skew the results? I can stop taking if needed but don't want to if I don't have to." Melissa's question comes from a desire to not waste money on functional lab testing by getting results that aren't even relevant or trustworthy. Yet, she also doesn't want her symptoms to come BACK by going off a supplement she's found SUPER helpful. What is Melissa to do? If you've ever been in a similar bind of wanting to do a lab test but feeling nervous about going off supplements or medications - then this episode is for you! EP. 211: In this episode, I'm sitting down with UK-based women's health practitioner Adele Winslett to talk about the intersection of ADHD, neurodivergence, and the hormonal rollercoaster of perimenopause. It's a raw, honest conversation about what happens when estrogen dips and the brain fog sets in and why you're absolutely not alone. We also explore how midlife can unmask long-standing ADHD and neurodivergent traits that were once manageable and how this shift can feel both disorienting and illuminating. If you've been silently struggling or questioning what's going on with your mind and body, this episode is a powerful reminder that there's clarity and support on the other side. Topics Discussed: Can perimenopause make ADHD symptoms worse? What are the signs of ADHD in women over 40? How does estrogen affect brain function and focus? Is brain fog during menopause linked to neurodivergence? What happens when ADHD and hormone changes collide in midlife Sponsored By: Nutrisense | Head over to nutrisense.io/drtyna to get 30% off your first order BIOptimizers | Go to bioptimizers.com/tyna to order MassZymes now and use code TYNA10 Manukora | Head to manukora.com/DRTYNA to get $25 off the Starter Kit, which comes with an MGO 850+ Manuka Honey jar Timeline | Timeline is offering 10% off your order of Mitopure Go to timeline.com/drtyna. Story at-a-glance Contrary to conventional belief, research shows menopausal women often experience estrogen dominance rather than deficiency, with high estrogen levels in tissues despite lower blood measurements A 2024 study revealed hormone replacement therapy (HRT) dramatically increases estrogen in fat tissues, creating a hormonal environment heavily skewed toward estrogen relative to androgens Optimal hormonal health depends on the ratio between progesterone and estrogen, with many menopausal women showing ratios indicative of estrogen dominance even without HRT Estrogen has a dual nature: essential for many bodily functions but problematic when in excess; increased exposure to environmental factors, like linoleic acid in seed oils and endocrine-disrupting chemicals in microplastics, raise estrogen levels Managing menopause naturally involves tracking prolactin levels, eliminating seed oils, avoiding estrogen-mimicking chemicals in everyday products and considering natural progesterone supplementation
