Vanessa was at a bar last night watching Colombia take on Austria, and we got the privilege of listening to audio of her celebrations. If you didn't think she could get any louder, you'd be wrong. Ally joined an AI dating coach app for advice on how to convince her wife to engage in a threesome as part of our Funner Summer challenge. It ended with her hitting on the AI dating coach and being rejected, which then led to Klein asking Grok for a threesome which yielded a very different result. Since it's Prime Day all week, we celebrated with another round of Prime Day Price is Right! We don't want to give it away, but one lucky guy named Matt won himself a giant bottle of Vacation Body Oil! Plus we got a newly single guy on the party bus to Santa Barbara to see Royel Otis, even though he technically won because he tried to cheat on his girlfriend with her own Aunt.

The Nostalgia Test Podcast

Dan didn't do a soundcheck because he's dumb, so his mic sounds like it's episode 1!   Dan & Manny welcome back longtime friend & Nostalgia Test Podcast all-star Steve Herrera to put the 1994 Pure Moods CD to the ultimate test—THE NOSTALGIA TEST!   “This music is at a very unsuccessful orgy.” -Dan Dissinger   Oh. My. God! If anyone can describe the mood of this episode, please email thenostalgiatest@gmail.com, because wow. There's really not a language to understand how Pure Moods from 1994 even begins to make sense as music, as an album, and how it went basically triple platinum. Maybe it's the aura of Kenny G, or the mysteriousness of Enya that creates the “pure” in Pure Moods. It could be the intimate energy of “Lily Was Here” which is on the Saxuality album that creates the mood that Pure Moods was trying to infuse in our 1994 existences. Who really knows, and Dan, Manny, & Steve actually never get to the bottom of this 90s existential portal, and would it even matter it they did? One thing for sure is this album wormed its way into our brains when we fell asleep on the couch and woke up at three o'clock in the morning wondering why the hell Tubular Bells was playing and why were we scared out of our minds. Maybe Steve is right that this album was being played on a loop at some random orgy in the middle of Sedona. Or Manny is right and this is the soundtrack to our mom's housecleaning and is the album for crazy Aunts with crystals. There's a chance Dan's right and this is the suburban psychedelic CD that adults played when they had too many Zimas and Bacardi Breezers, and that one leftover hippie neighbor pulls a crumpled-up joint they confiscated from their kid the other day so they can all relive their naked-Woodstock-summer-of-love glory days before waking up the next day to sell insurance. Either way, Pure Moods from 1994 is a nostalgic phenomenon that baffles our hosts and their longtime friend. So, fire up some incense, stare into the middle distance contemplating the 5th dimension, and light a movie's love scene worth of candles because you're about to get into the mood, Pure Moods with The Nostalgia Test Podcast. *** If you love what we're doing and want to support the podcast so we can keep this show going with better equipment and maybe meet up with each other to do some in-person recording, donate to The Nostalgia Test: buymeacoffee.com/nostalgiatest   Lastly, we're looking to be booked for podcast appearances, hosting gigs and parties, maybe you have a block party coming up, a BBQ that you want to be Nostalgia themed and you're looking to make it seriously memorable, a reunion, etc., contact us to book the podcast. His experiences as an Executive Chef and his time at a Michelin-starred Kitchen in Amsterdam have shaped his innovative approach to showcasing the vibrancy of African ingredients. He has always been considered unconventional, having led impactful projects like Dawadawa at Impact Hub Accra and The Kitchen By Ghana Food Movement, a food hub designed to train young chefs and promote Ghanaian and West African cuisines globally. He currently works as a private chef and consultant to some of Africa's bold thinkers and organizations. Though all of the episodes remain on our podcast feed, it can be daunting to scroll back and find them, so we're launching Databank Rewind. Here's your chance to go back to those episodes week by week and laugh with us at old jokes, memorable moments, unforgettable guests, and, yeah, old microphones, recordings, and perhaps some Star Wars predictions that came true alongside many that most certainly did not. Old Crompton's Secret: A Body Renewed, A Mind Unchanged is a classic science fiction short story by Harl Vincent, first published in Astounding Stories of Super-Science in February 1930. It tells the story of a bitter old hermit who uses a young scientist's rejuvenation machine to regain his youth, but finds his old, criminal mind remains unchanged, leading to a dangerous conflict. The story explores themes of science, morality, and the idea that a new body doesn't necessarily change a person's inner self.   Check out this link to buy DB's Books[link] Season 22 bonus episodes 65-88 # Name Author Description 65 The Fall of the House of Usher Edgar Allan Poe A gothic tale of a decaying family, a decaying mansion, illness, obsession, and a terrible burial mistake. 66 What Was It? ”The Repairer of Reputations” is a short story by Robert W. Chambers from The King in Yellow collection, featuring an unreliable narrator, Hildred Castaigne, who believes he is an heir to an American dynasty in a dystopian, near-future 1920s America. After a head injury, he seeks out a mysterious ”Repairer of Reputations,” Mr. Wilde, to restore his family's name, but his delusions intertwine with the forbidden play The King in Yellow, blurring the lines between reality, madness, and a dark, fascistic future.  Key aspects of the story: Unreliable Narrator: The story is told from Hildred Castaigne's perspective, but his head injury and obsession with The King in Yellow make his account of events questionable.  Dystopian Setting: It depicts an alternate 1920s America with underground roads, a centralized government, and a new aristocracy, which some readers interpret as a fascist vision.  The King in Yellow: The play within the story is a central motif, with reading past the second act being linked to insanity, though the narrator claims to have read it without going mad.  Mr. Wilde: The titular ”Repairer of Reputations” is a strange figure who helps ruined men, but his own sanity and motives are unclear.  Themes: It explores madness, power, conspiracy, and the nature of reality, all within the larger, cosmic horror framework of The King in Yellow.
