Writer/Prodcuer/Director David Stassen is behind such comedy juggernauts as The Mindy Project, Chicago Party Aunt, History of the World Part II, and the upcoming film Maximum Truth, and there's only one thing that can stand between his brain and the funniest jokes that you can think of: brain freeze. Brain freeze caused by McConnell's ice cream of course. That's right, David Stassen is a Fanaddict about McConnell's Ice Cream, and he tells host Clare Kramer and guest co-host Jake Marin all about his delectable obsession. From his favor flavor, to the perfect spoon to try the ice cream with, even how he shares this love with his children. Only on Fanaddicts. In this hilarious and insightful episode, we chat with Jon Barinholtz about his career as a writer, comedian, and actor. Jon shares how working with his mentor, Bob Odenkirk, helped shape his writing skills and encouraged him to write something every day. Jon also talks about the importance of perseverance, especially in the unpredictable world of Hollywood. Listen in as Jon shares his experiences touring with Bob, and how those experiences have influenced his career today. We also discuss Jon's work on NBC's American Auto and his new show, The Glue Factory Show. As we explore the concept of American Auto, we uncover how it serves as a reverse Superstore, shedding light on the lives of nameless people in corporate settings and how their actions affect blue-collar workers. Jon also shares the story behind the creation of the popular Twitter account 'Chicago Party Aunt' and how it evolved into an animated series on Netflix. Lastly, we touch upon Jon's personal life, including meeting his wife while working at Mozza (Osteria) and becoming a father to two young children. As we reminisce about the past, we can't help but marvel at the cyclical nature of life and how Jon's experiences seem to mirror those of other famous comedians and their families. Don't miss this entertaining and heartwarming conversation with the talented Jon Barinholtz. We may or may not discuss drug use from 20 years ago. Wait, mushrooms are no longer considered "drugs", are they? Jon Barinholtz is an American actor, comedian, and producer based in Los Angeles. Mandy is gone, so Mandy has invited her friend Rory O'Malley to sit in and dish on The Rehearsal. The show is bonkers, possibly offensive, and pokes at all the social anxieties — big and small — many of us carry around on our backs. It's right in line with writer-director Nathan Fielder's brand of comedy, and Mandy and Rory dive in deep this week.Oh, who is Rory, you ask? The biggest thing you need to know about Rory is that he plays the perfectly-named character of “Peter” in Mandy's upcoming film Jess Plus None, premiering in London in March. He's also been nominated for a Tony for his work as Elder McKinley in The Book of Mormon on Broadway and did a healthy stint in Hamilton, taking over the Groff's part as King George III. You can hear his dulcet tones in the animated series Central Park on Apple TV+ and Chicago Party Aunt on Netflix right now. Go ahead, learn more about Rory right here. We dare you. TV shows and movies love to set their stories in Chicago, but they don't always get the city right. Sometimes they lean too hard into stereotypes, like Netflix's highly anticipated animated show, “Chicago Party Aunt.” Other times, like in the movie “Holidate,” Chicago recedes into the background, making us wonder why it's set here at all. And still, more shows fail to capture Chicago's complexity, like the anthology series “Easy.” (Man, Netflix seems to do Chicago dirty a lot.) Other cities (cough, New York) don't seem to have this problem, so what gives? Vulture's Rachel Handler talks with host Jacoby Cochran about some of these problematic depictions. Jacoby and lead producer Carrie Shepherd also share which shows they think do a good job. Guest: Rachel Handler—Features writer, Vulture Links: Why Does Netflix Hate Chicago?
