Hello, hi and welcome to the first interview for Season 5 of Medium Lady Talks! In this episode, I chat with Helen Schrute and Christina Cohen, therapists and hosts of the It's YOUR Birthday Podcast. We're talking all about friendship, partnership, trust and navigating the messy middle of life with your bestie by your side. Episode Summary: In this episode, you'll hear more from my guests about: - The incredible story of their individual challenges and how navigating a cancer diagnosis and grief after the death of a parent brought them even closer to supporting one another. Christina and Helene share the nuance of the closeness of their friendship and balancing the risk of a creative enterprise together - effectively becoming business partners- and how they navigate that. Even when you have an easy connection with a friend, it still requires your time, attention and energy to keep nurturing the relationship, in addition to boundaries and commitment! The Its YOUR Birthday Podcast is all about teaching women to navigate external expectations, to let go of pressure and celebrate who they want to be. Why deep friendship requires a bit of risk and authenticity Christina and Helene share the concept of “the messy middle” and why you have to tackle it before you get to a place where you can celebrate yourself daily - but don't worry we're also there to guide you with the tools and mindset to see the mess for the gift that it is. Using the “traffic light” visual to help you place where you are on your journey and how to meet your needs. The messy middle can also be kind of a “comfy” place for people reluctant to take their first vulnerable step towards change - we talk about some medium effort ways to make those moves and advance on the green light of your own life. We wrap up with a discussion about self-celebration: how do you acknowledge when you're getting what you want out of life? How do you make that a true party? By the end of this episode, you'll feel equipped and inspired to choose a guiding need for 2025 that aligns with your values and supports your well-being. Today we look at Acts 2 and the birth of the Church. Luke is careful to explain to us that what he is writing about is the fulfillment of the ancient feast of Weeks (or Pentecost). We will look at the sounds, sights, and Spirit-inspired speech that followed.

How can a free app help prevent over 30% of stillbirths in Iowa? Join us as we discuss the amazing organization that founded the project now used by many pregnant people to do just that. Megan will take us through the history of the organization and the development of the Count the Kicks app and other educational materials available on their website. She will also share the background and definition of stillbirth. The fact that stillbirth affects about 21,000 babies every year in the US should help us all understand how important it is to help parents take preventable measures whenever possible. Megan is the Program Director at Healthy Birth Day, Inc., the national non-profit organization that created the Count the Kicks evidence-based stillbirth prevention program. She oversees the organization's programming work, including grants, system and policy change work, and app development. Megan believes that knowledge truly is power. She used the Count the Kicks app during her pregnancies and has three healthy and rambunctious children. She is proud to be part of such an important organization with a powerful mission of saving babies. This weeks episode is coming to you on my birthday!
When Sara DuBreuil found out she was expecting a baby girl, she and her husband Matt chose the name Cecilia -- Ceci for short. Sara thought Ceci's arrival would be the best day of her life. She kept picturing the moment when Ceci, tiny and pink, would be born and placed on her chest. But that's not how it played out. Instead, it was a day of crisis that Sara felt totally unprepared for. She's spent the first year of Cecilia's life coming to terms with what happened. Sara had never heard of “birth trauma” before, but as she grapples with her experience, she's learning many women have lived it, most of them in silence.
Sharing my sons story is filled with so many lessons for us in our day to day lives. Are our sins too big that we can never be forgiven? Have we “messed up” God's plan? Can we still be used?Is God shocked by our actions?I answer these questions today using my own life experience with getting pregnant before I was married, while still in college and a leader on campus. When we feel like life is over, God says, “oh no, My child, this is just the beginning.” God wants us to live life to the fullest. He reminds us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made.We are ALL created on purpose for a purpose, for such a time as this.I am celebrating the birth of my 1st son today and while I celebrate the miracle that he is, I also celebrate the blessings of God and how He never turns His back, but wants us to love the life He has given EACH of us.Happy Birthday, my dear son. I pray you know you are loved. You are here on purpose for a purpose and you were fearfully and wonderfully made.I would love to connect with you through my social media platforms or email. I'd love to hear your thoughts on today's episode and any episode really! I'd love to know any topics you'd love to hear as well.Blessings to you my dear friend.
