Novels featuring an ensemble cast of characters and multiple points of view are a favorite for today's guest, and she'd love Anne's help in finding more of this particular type of reading experience. Olivia Haber Greenwood is joining Anne from Barcelona, where she's lived for the past seven years working as a copywriter and freelance journalist. Olivia is a happy reader with an abundant reading life, but she's found herself stymied when it comes to novels featuring multiple points of view. Olivia loves the concept of these books, and sometimes she'll find one that really works for her. But since voice is such a strong component of what she loves in a book, too many of the multiple point of view novels she's read fall a bit flat. She's on the hunt for a story told from multiple points of view where every character's distinctive, unmistakable voice elicits a big wow. It's a tall order. Can they do it? Anne and Olivia sure have fun trying in today's conversation. Find the list of titles discussed today and leave your suggestions for Olivia at our show notes page, which you'll find at whatshouldireadnextpodcast.com/488. Learn more about your ad choices. Hello, hi! I'm so excited to welcome today's guest to the show. Anna Przy! Does the phrase “It's called manifesting… look it up…” or “You better Keep it up Cutie” sound familiar? Anna Przy is most recognizable for her short form social media videos that involve a bathrobe, her front yard, and no shoes. Sometimes featuring an old vacuum and some high kicks you'll often see Anna looking up at the sky and politely appealing to the cosmos. I first discovered Anna during the pandemic, and have been a huge fan of her pep talks and point of view ever since. Episode Summary: In this episode, Anna and I chat about: How Anna's layoff from event planning during the pandemic social distancing measures resulted in her taking a hard look at the “road map” that she had been diligently following all of her life towards happiness. But when the pandemic hit, and she lost a lot of those things, but she still felt pretty ok about herself! That led to Anna taking a chance online sharing these thoughts, and deconstructing everything she thought she was supposed to believe for her audience, to help us all realize that we're all struggling with these ideas, and how much those messages have never resulted in happiness. Did you know you can pretty much do whatever you want? Anna confesses at first she wasn't sure, but the longer she's online the more she realizes that the possibilities are endless and she wants you to feel that way too. By design Anna's message about mental health and self-love aren't packaged like your typical mindset gurus - that's by design and it's because Anna doesn't want to hear that message herself. Anna's had a long journey deconstructing the “90s misogyny mindset” that has been made easier thanks to her online community. How Anna has been strategic about the way she gets people to accept messages of deconditioning or radical self love - knowing that often people aren't ready to hear it. Being able to share herself authentically doesn't come without fear, Anna describes how she's been able to manage the fear of being seen because the benefits of overcoming that fear are life changing. As challenging as the comparison game on social media may be, sometimes it allows us a chance to snap out of our pre-conceived assumptions when we see other people trying things or existing in a way we didn't think was possible. Anna has only two rules for life and they're applicable in every situation. We talk about why the practice of betting on yourself (without proof) can be a revolutionary mindset hack Humour can start as a coping mechanism but it can also be a way to mask your discomfort with big feelings (yours or other peoples). Anna and I are strong cheerleaders for anyone who wants to become a content creator - just start despite your perfectionism! Anna says “exhaustion is very different when you're happy” and that lives rent free in my mind Other Episodes you might like: Episode 117: Medium Effort Advice: Help, I'm doing too much, and none of it well! Hello, hi and welcome to the first interview for Season 5 of Medium Lady Talks! In this episode, I chat with Helen Schrute and Christina Cohen, therapists and hosts of the It's YOUR Birthday Podcast. We're talking all about friendship, partnership, trust and navigating the messy middle of life with your bestie by your side. Episode Summary: In this episode, you'll hear more from my guests about: - The incredible story of their individual challenges and how navigating a cancer diagnosis and grief after the death of a parent brought them even closer to supporting one another. Christina and Helene share the nuance of the closeness of their friendship and balancing the risk of a creative enterprise together - effectively becoming business partners- and how they navigate that. Even when you have an easy connection with a friend, it still requires your time, attention and energy to keep nurturing the relationship, in addition to boundaries and commitment! The Its YOUR Birthday Podcast is all about teaching women to navigate external expectations, to let go of pressure and celebrate who they want to be. Why deep friendship requires a bit of risk and authenticity Christina and Helene share the concept of “the messy middle” and why you have to tackle it before you get to a place where you can celebrate yourself daily - but don't worry we're also there to guide you with the tools and mindset to see the mess for the gift that it is. Using the “traffic light” visual to help you place where you are on your journey and how to meet your needs. The messy middle can also be kind of a “comfy” place for people reluctant to take their first vulnerable step towards change - we talk about some medium effort ways to make those moves and advance on the green light of your own life. We wrap up with a discussion about self-celebration: how do you acknowledge when you're getting what you want out of life? How do you make that a true party? By the end of this episode, you'll feel equipped and inspired to choose a guiding need for 2025 that aligns with your values and supports your well-being. In this episode, I'm talking about my reading goals for 2025! As a devotee of SMART goals for many years, my reading goals are really more intentions than milestones I'm looking to achieve. This year, I'm really trying to find the joy in reading again, without the pressure that super defined goals can bring. This year is about me reinforcing reading's role in my downtime and escape, and it really came down to the question “What kind of reader do I want to be?”If you have an author, book, or topic you want to hear about on the podcast, then don't hesitate to slide into my DMs on Instagram or shoot me an email!Where else to find me:IG: @inbedwithbookspodYT: https://www.youtube.com/@InBedWithBooksPodEM: inbedwithbookspodcast@gmail.com

Ever wished you could fast-forward to the best parts of your life? That's what Lucy Young did in Sophie's Cousens's latest novel, "The Good Part." In "The Good Part," Lucy stumbles upon a wishing machine and wishes to skip to the "good part" of her life: where she has a career she's proud of, she isn't broke, and she has met her soulmate. The following day, she realizes the machine was real, and she has skipped to sixteen years in the future and is now in the good part of her life. So, in this episode, Sophie and I talked more about her book, and we had so much fun playing our own game where we stepped into our very own Time Machine and talked about the things we would do and places we would go to if we could time travel.BOOK:The Good Part by Sophie Cousens on Amazon or Bookshop. We're grateful for your support! If you'd like to join our patron team, please visit marriageaftergod.com/patron. Topic: GoalsToday, we're talking about goals. Why do we set them? What happens when we get off track? And how can we get back on track when we've fallen off the wagon? We set goals because we want to change, grow, or experience something new. Whether it's weight loss, financial gain, learning something new, or spiritual growth, we know it feels good to achieve these goals. But what happens when we're not on track? We can get overwhelmed with our goals and the commitment they require. Things come up that distract us or stop us. And then it feels like we've failed, so we stop altogether. The key is to remember that the change itself is what we're really pursuing. The goal is simply the means by which we change. So even if we feel like we've failed to attain the goal, we shouldn't quit. We should recognize the actual change that has been happening all along. Getting Back on TrackWhen you've fallen off the wagon, it's important to encourage each other to keep going. Change your mindset to focus on the transformation that's happening in your life. Remember, you're better today than you were yesterday. If you look back, you can clearly see that you've made forward movement. Supporting Each OtherAs a couple, it's crucial to support each other in our personal pursuits. Acknowledge each other's efforts, be patient, and celebrate the fact that you're trying something new and trying to change for the better. Growth SpurtThis month, we're focusing on growing by letting freedom ring. We're celebrating the freedom to learn something new, the freedom to pray, and the freedom to pursue happiness. PrayerDear Lord, thank you for giving us the capacity to set new goals, to experience transformation, to do something new, to learn and to grow. We pray we would take advantage of all that we have been given to do the hard thing and see progress. Regardless of how much time we have left in this year, will you motivate our hearts and minds to follow through with the goals we hope to achieve? Will you keep insecurity far from us? We pray we would be supportive in marriage and work together as a team to carry out your will. In Jesus' name, AMEN!
