It's that time of year folks! One of the podcasts top dawg Patrons has a birthday tradition of choosing 2 Tales From The Crypt episodes for the FM3 to watch and chat about! Jef, Josh and Brian love having these episodes curated for them and couldn't wait to hop back in the crypt and see what campy goodness this wonderful Patron chose this time around! First off the guys checked out "Korman's Kalamity" (Season 2 - Episode 13) about a wacky comic book artist drawing some monsters that may in fact be a little too real. Next up the crew watched "House Of Horror" (Season 5 - Episode 7) about some horrible frat boys torturing some noobs for pledge week and finding out they done fucked up! This is a lengthy episode for two half hour TV shows but you know how these guys roll! Side quests about candy, the little rascals and the finer points of smearing dog shit all over your favorite 80's blouse! So you know it's gonna be a fun one! Enjoy!
Host Steve Turk welcomes Larry Korman, co-CEO of Korman Communities and president of AKA Hotel Residences, to discuss his lifelong path in hospitality and residential real estate, from childhood work in the family business to leading a five-generation legacy. Korman explains how his father's pie-shaped Philadelphia apartments sparked the furnished-apartment concept, later branded as Korman Suites, and how Larry and his brother built Korman Communities and evolved the model into luxury hotel residences under AKA, now spanning 16 properties over 22 years. He shares formative training in England, insights from Japanese hospitality, and a leadership philosophy centered on earning respect by doing frontline work, supporting teams and staying on property. Korman details AKA's partnership with Airbnb that helped shape Airbnb Luxe, a strategy of optimizing cash flow, and plans to repurpose iconic hotels, expand in Florida, and grow globally with a strong health and wellness focus.00:00 Podcast Welcome00:31 Sponsor Lodgify01:34 Meet Larry Korman02:03 Early Hospitality Roots02:57 Five Generation Legacy04:11 Birth of Furnished Stays04:51 Branding Korman Suites07:03 Design Passion Duke Days08:17 Old School Training09:28 Japan Hospitality Lessons12:27 Earning Team Respect15:21 COVID Leadership Onsite16:29 Synergy And Marketing20:31 Why Residences Win23:14 Airbnb Luxe Partnership27:07 Scaling AKA And Ave30:03 Collaboration Culture30:49 Leading Without Dashboards31:28 On Site Hospitality32:29 Home Away From Home33:36 Brother Partnership Split35:28 Growth Through Repurposing38:34 Miami Florida Expansion40:01 Global Wellness Vision43:08 Hospitality Role Models45:30 Keeping Teams Loyal49:33 Advice To Younger Self50:54 Wrap Up Sponsor Biscayne Coffee

This week, we are continuing the talk started last time when game developer and musician, Paul Korman, came on the show; this week, my brother Jeremy joins us for further discussion on Paul, his game The Phantom Fellows, oneshorteye's mini documentary, "The Ghost Game That Isn't About Death" about Paul and the game, as well as game development in general. The last time I talked to Paul, I was not actively making the Rocketeer game I've been working on, so we have a whole discussion (therapy session?) about solo game development and the frustration that sometimes comes with it. More on The Phantom Fellows Oneshorteye's Youtube channelCheck out Jeremy's work over at Pixel Grotto, CBR.com, and Classic Batman Panels on IG. If you are of the DnD persuasion, his articles on DnD Beyond may be right up your alley, and you can view his entire portfolio here. You can also check out his latest book, where he is a co-author: Pathfinder Adventure Path: No Breath to Cry, the ecology and exploration TTRPG with Three Sail Studios, Mappa Mundi, and their most recent game, Gallows Corner: A Peasants' Revolt RPG. What do seven years of setbacks, a calling rooted in faith, and the story of Ruth from the Bible have in common? They're all part of the journey behind Ruth's House, founded by Jeanne Korman to provide loving homes for single moms and their children. This week on Mission CTRL, Ramon and Jorge sit down with Jeanne to explore how her own experience as a single mom of five - and the hardships, loneliness, and redemption that came with it - inspired her to create a refuge for women in crisis. Wanting to quit more often than continuing but finding strength in God through each obstacle, Jeanne shares the perseverance it took to move Ruth's House from an idea to a thriving nonprofit with a waitlist of moms seeking stability and hope.Jeanne opens up about the early days of balancing teaching with moonlighting at Ruth's House, why patience and timing matter in building a sustainable mission, and how a strong board and community partners helped bring her vision to life without government funding. She also shares moving stories of transformation, like the first resident who went from escaping abuse to building a new life as a college student and mom.Whether you're an entrepreneur, a nonprofit leader, or simply someone who believes in redemption and second chances, this conversation is full of lessons on resilience, faith, and the power of community. If you've ever wondered how to turn personal struggle into a mission that helps others build safe, independent lives, this episode is for you.•••Find full episodes of Mission CTRL on Anchor, Apple Podcast, Spotify, and our website.Mission CTRL aims to ignite the innovative spirit inside us all through providing budding and successful entrepreneurs and community leaders with a platform to share their stories and inspire others. Welcome back to Just For This. Each week, host Rabbi Liz P.G. Hirsch (she/her) interviews women in leadership about women and leadership. Inspired by the story of Esther, we feature powerful stories of women who stand out in their fields, who have stepped up just for this moment. Our guest this week is Allison Tombros Korman. She is the founder and CEO of the Red Tent Fund, a nonprofit national abortion fund rooted in the Jewish values and teachings that affirm the right to abortion for all. The Red Tent Fund is a proud grantee of WRJ's philanthropic arm, the YES Fund. We discuss feeling comfortable in your identity in the workplace, reclaiming the faith-based perspective on abortion, and the importance of abortion funds themselves. It's pretty simple: Justin Tucker is gone from the Baltimore Ravens and serving a 10-game NFL suspension for the outrageous conduct outlined in a tremendous piece of journalism done by the sports and news reporting team of Chris Korman at The Baltimore Banner. Here, he continues his Maryland Crab Cake Tour discussion with Bill Cole and Nestor about local journalism and its difficulty and impact. The post Chris Korman of Baltimore Banner continues discussion with Bill Cole and Nestor about local journalism first appeared on Baltimore Positive WNST.
As local journalism continues to evaporate, The Baltimore Banner proved earlier this year that a big story still needs real professional journalists, facts, witnesses and lots of lawyers as the Justin Tucker scandal was unearthed by its team. Sports editor Chris Korman joins Bill Cole and Nestor to discuss what really happened after Justin Fenton and Julie Scharper received a tip about the kicker of the Baltimore Ravens being a serial predator nuisance to women in the massage industry all over the region. But are they really that hopeless? In this episode, feline medicine specialist Dr Rachel Korman joins us demystify the anaemic cat and offer a clear, practical diagnostic framework that will give you more confidence and better outcomes the next time you see a cat with a low PCV.Some highlights from this conversation:A step-by-step approach to categorising anaemia.Regenerative vs. non-regenerative: what it actually means in cats, and how to interpret the data. Why IMHA in cats doesn't look like IMHA in dogs — and how to recognise it.Haemoplasma infections (like Mycoplasma): When to treat, how to treat, PCR testing, and what the results really tell you.Age-specific differentials: what to prioritise in young vs. older cats.Supportive care: what works, what's myth.Prognosis pitfalls: why PCV alone doesn't predict survival. This episode will help you approach feline anaemia with more clarity, structure, and - dare we say - optimism.

This week, Paul Korman, who was last on the show in 2021 (episode 298), rejoins the show to discuss The Phantom Fellows, the pixelart adventure game he recently completed. This was a really fun episode to record (even though we needed to do it twice - more on that in the intro), and it was a fun one to prepare for, since it involved playing the game Paul had discussed back in episode 298. It is really something - not only was it a very enjoyable experience - but he did the programming, art, music, and writing, all while single parenting it, and doing regular episodes of The Classic Gamers Guild Podcast (a Facebook group devoted to classic video games that has a regular podcast - more below). This is a great episode to check out if you are involved in any creative pursuits. One of the best things about the game is the writing Paul lent to it, showcasing his unique brand of humor. I played the game on a portable PC, so to speak, called the Steam Deck, and took some photos during game play of some of the screens I got a kick out of. Send us a textJoin us for a thought-provoking journey as we welcome the insightful Jonathan Korman to explore the evolving landscape of political ideologies. As a noted radical liberal, Jonathan brings a unique perspective on the tensions within liberalism and socialism, diving into how leftist circles are appropriating right-wing rhetoric to critique identity politics. We delve into the concept of "liberal socialism" and the left's role as a "loyal opposition" to modernity, all while reflecting on the works of post-Marxist thinkers like Gerben Thirdborn. Our discussion spans the intricate tapestry of U.S. political history, unraveling the nuanced relationships between American communism, conservatism, and historical narratives from the World War II era. We shed light on the uneasy alliances within liberalism that can veer towards fascism, using examples from France to American political maneuvers. Moreover, we tackle the contradictions inherent in liberalism and socialism, their connections to fascism, and the obstacles in building a workers' movement supportive of progressive leaders. The conversation takes a global turn, examining the complexities of Israeli politics, the hurdles of decolonization, and the challenges of governance within the Westphalian nation-state framework. From the crisis of expertise in Western bureaucracies to the shifting roles of social classes and capitalist dynamics, the episode offers a critical lens on the intertwining paths of fascism and modern political movements. This episode promises to challenge your views and provide a rich tapestry of insights on current affairs and political theory. Support the showCrew:Host: C.
